Seconds from Destruction - Don’t they know it’s the end of the world?
I was reading a magazine yesterday, where a father recounted the sad story of his daughter who was murdered in her own home. Her attacker was waiting for her and pounced as soon as she entered the home. What made this story more poignant was that the magazine had printed a CCTV still camera shot which showed the girl just seconds before she met her death, about to put the key in the lock and it had also somehow captured the outline of her murderer through a pane of glass in this same shot. It showed the girl in the lobby of the building, happy and completely unaware of what was about to strike. To her it was another ordinary day, and no doubt she was thinking of putting her feet up and having a nice cup of tea. She did not know in just seconds she would be dead. Magazines and newspapers are full of such sad tales - car crashes, murders, other sudden deaths including one of a groom on his wedding day. Looking at their pictures, looking into their eyes, they had no clue of what was coming. Happy smiling faces: they were just ordinary folk like you and me. And there is the recent two helicopter crash in Phoenix, Arizona where tragically two newscrews died. One moment they are filming a speeding car chase, the next moment is oblivion. They had no idea at all what was coming. They were just ordinary folk going about their ordinary lives.
Death can come at any time for any of us - are you prepared?
There’s the old joke of making sure you go out with a clean pair of knickers on in case you get knocked down by a bus and get taken to hospital - therefore you are to be prepared just in case. I suggest people need to make sure they have clean ‘knickers’ on before God - that is a clean heart and a clean life (made possible though the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ) - and to do this now, as you do not know how long you have. You cannot be sure you have enough time to procrastinate into or to think about it. God is talking to you on an individual basis, but also He is speaking on an international basis as God is saying time is running out for the whole world to get right with Him (see my previous end times prophecies). I think it very unlikely that any in my generation will reach the natural age of 70.
When death is anticipated, such as in the case of someone suffering terminal illness, that person has the chance of getting their affairs in order and getting right with God - or not. They have the choice. At the time of the Cold War hostilities, people used to ask each other what they would do if they knew a nuke was en-route. Most said they’d tell people how much they loved them, and many said they would pray. G A Studdert-Kennedy (the war poet also known as Woodbine Willie), a British chaplain in World War One, mentioned how even the heathens would pray like crazy when they were in the shell-holes minutes from death and disaster. But that is when people knew what’s coming. Many do not know what is coming. They assume all is well with them and the world and they go about their lives seemingly oblivous to the fact that they are a flaming wick that could be snuffed out at any time.
When I was young, my friends and I all thought we would live until we were old and grey. It was an assumption. We never thought we could or would be among the unlucky ones that would not. I have lost touch with the people I grew up with, after travelling around for many years, but I have caught up from the odd newspaper article enough to know that several of my school acquaintances have died suddenly in car crashes, one aged 17, one 19 and one aged 31, one had a sudden brain haemmorage and died at the age of 20, one died aged 24 in a rock climbing accident and those are just some of the ones I know about. One acquaintance of mine died as a martyr bringing the gospel to Asia. His life is an inspiration to me still. (And it is only by the grace of God that I am still alive after surving two car crashes and one murder attempt.)
Most normal people assume they will live a long time. Most people assume their lives will be alright. And so with the world. It assumes it will be around a long time yet and assumes it will be alright as it always has been. But its destruction is coming. Soon.
And I am warning all on the face of this planet to make sure they are ready if they are all still around at the culmination of the ages, that is the end of the world which is coming soon, because at the end of the world, you will not probably not know it will be so. Just as in the Days of Noah before the flood came, people will think there will be plenty of time left. You will probably not be like the heathen quivering with fear down a world war one shellhole, and unless you are in the military you will probably be going about your everyday business. Just another day - the End of the World - just another ordinary day. Just another Day. Oblivious. Like an ordinary girl putting her key in the lock … seconds from impending death.
I urge you to get right with God if you have not already done so. You all have the choice of either suffering God’s wrath and going to eternal destruction or choosing the free gift of eternal life and blessing through Jesus Christ. Choose it before it is too late for you. As for the nations, I have said it before and will say it again, that if you all call out to Him, God may have mercy on you and heal your land - just as he spared Nineveh from destruction, he can save you from destruction. God is a loving God and does not want anyone to be destroyed. But time is running out. He has been real patient but tick tock, tick tock…time is running out. He is not going to wait for you forever.
The day is far spent and night draws near when no man can work. May all hear the voice of the Lord God calling out one last time, calling them to repent and be saved, lest they be caught unaware and lost forever!
Many in the church are asleep and need to be awakened else they too will be undone in the coming storm.
