St Malachy’s prophecy of the popes & end times
‘The Prophecy of the Popes’, attributed to be written by Saint Malachy in 1139, and first published in 1595, is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with a later added pope described as “Peter the Roman”, whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome followed by the Last Judgment. ‘The Prophecy of the Popes’ by St. Malachy has been getting a lot more attention of late, even in non Catholic circles. The reason being is that the latest pope, Pope Benedict XVI, is number 111 in the papal line, and number 112 in St Malachy’s prophecy is the final pope, Petrus Romanus aka Peter II. Then comes the end of the world according to St Malachy. Many Christian evangelicals and charismatics etc are now listening to this prophecy because it is claimed it has been very accurate so far, and many now are getting very jumpy as they see other signs showing the end of the world is not far off. Therefore they listen to it and believe this prophecy to be ‘true’ and reliable.
I am concerned about Christians suddenly pricking up their ears to St Malachy’s prophecy and listening to it because I believe it to be decietful and antichrist, prepping the world to accept the ‘final’ pope as being godly when of course he is not.
St Malachy was Roman Catholic. He said that these succession of 112 popes would be good and godly, and he advocated papal succession and the Vatican. He worked tirelessly to get Ireland under the control of Rome. If he were a true prophet of God he would have spoken up about the spiritual adultery within the church of Rome, and warned about the pope’s numeous blasphemous titles as well as spoken about some of the other corruption and problems in the church of Rome.
One therefore has to question the ’spirit’ behind his prophecy. Its authenticity has been cast in doubt by scholars who believe it to be from a later date and not penned by St Malachy, with claims the later predictions are far vaguer than the earlier (indicating it was possibly written with the benefit of hindsight). Some even claim Nostradamus wrote it. Even if authentic, there is also the possibility that the rather vague predictions are made to fit the popes either through loose interpretation or through intentionally finding a pope who does match the description. But even if the prophecy were genuine and Malachy were its author, and nobody at the Vatican is tampering with events to make it fit, it still does not make St Malachy a true prophet.
A true prophet’s predictions not just come true, but they also do not contradict with scripture or scriptural principles. Scripture clearly shows the Roman Catholic church and its popes are evil and antichrist, and this has been proven to be the case historically. The RC church/Vatican sits on the seven hills of Rome as even Malachy admits, and is the adulterous whore in Revelation that is corrupt, drinks the blood of martyrs and is spiritually adulterous (eg: veneration of pope, saints and Mary). It glitters with riches through ill gotten means and is dressed in papal colours matching the whore’s colours perfectly. ‘Mystery Babylon’ Rome attempts to darken the minds of the common man through Latin masses and other mysteries, so it can promote its works based religion and promote its papal and priestly mediation getting in between man and God. Catholic priests and popes take the rightful place of Jesus Christ and thus become antichrist. They stop people coming direct to Christ as do their idols and praying to Mary. And so this whore church continues to promote blind trust and ignorance in its followers. I was brought up a Roman Catholic, went to an RC school, even went to see the pope (Pope John Paul II) but never once heard the gospel. Not once, in all that time. Neither have generations of my family - all Roman Catholics on both sides. I try and share the gospel with them and they just do not ‘get’ it - it is completely alien to them.
Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York and a Republican presidential hopeful, is an intelligent and powerful man. Rudy claimed recently, “My religious affiliation … and the degree to which I am a good or not so good Catholic, I prefer to leave to the priests.” This may be just political spin from Rudy, but it is a typical Roman Catholic answer nonetheless. The common lay-man cannot possibly claim to know his state before God. Only the priests and their church can do that! They make a mystery what should be the obvious and make blind what should be the clear. Cursed be that church!
The Vatican has not just been politically corrupt and persecuted the true saints in the Dark and Middle Ages (see Foxes Book of Martyrs), but in this century, too, it has been evil such as Nazi Germany and in Mussolin’s Italy. Rome is evil! The pope claims a throne on earth only God should have and calls himself multitudes of names only God has by right. He claims an infallibility no man has. He claims to be ‘Christ on earth’ and asks to be called ‘Holy Father’ and ‘His Holiness’. The Virgin Mary is adored and idolised in her virgin state (even though she later had other children), and is variously called the Ark of the Covenant, Star of the Sea, Queen of Peace, Queen of Heaven, Queen of the World, Seat of Wisdom, Our Lady, Help of Christians ,Joy of all who sorrow etc. The doctrine of the immaculate conception is not about Jesus being concieved through the Holy Spirit but of Mary! The RC church is truly the counterfeit bride for the antichrist.
Re the final pope of St Malachy’s visions, number 112 - Peter the II or Petrus Romanus - the next one apparently after the present pope, Benedict, Malachy says: “During the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, the seat will be occupied by Peter of Rome, who will feed his sheep in many tribulations; and when these things are finished, the seven-hilled city will be destroyed, and the terrible Judge will judge his people. The End.”
I have problems with this prophecy because - ‘During the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church’ - historically the RC church has been the presecutor not the persecutee, and it still is. Malachy not just confirms the papal authority and Vatican rule in his false prophecy but he also denies the persecution of the true saints - those that oppose Vatican rule. It is surely an antichrist spirit that spins anything differant.
I note St Malachy notably does not mention the (final) Antichrist in his vision! The RC whore rides the beast in the Book of Revelation. The (final) Antichrist, the man of lawlessness, is seen as a type of Nero Caesar, a new ‘Roman emperor’ in the Book of Revelation. To be the new Roman emperor, this Antichrist will have to be in bed with the RC church, if not be the actual pope himself! However, Malachy says Peter II ‘will feed his sheep in many tribulations’ - this opens up the church to be fed by Rome and become compromised in ecumenicism and worse still to accept the antichrist and be led by him and possibly be fed by him, if we accept Malachi’s prophecy as true. Note that the Bible says the Antichrist will have ‘no desire for women’ which is interpretated often is that he will be homosexual - however the most obvious meaning for this, within the context of him coming through Rome, is a celibate pope.
Beware of Malachy’s prophecy. It is dangerous indeed and comes from the antichrist.
Best just to take these kinds of prophecies lightly IMHO.
I too have many concerns about the RC church, though would note that these are many within who most certainly appear of Him and who are also warning of the times to come.
So, I’ll watch, listen and learn, and see what the Lord is doing…..

Nope. That is a traditional interpretation of Man and an erroroneous tradition at that.
While you are correct regarding disregarding the so called mytical prophecy of Malachy, you are in error regarding the Catholic Church.
The anger and hate in your writing is apparent. Anger and hate are not of God. God is love.

I beg to differ. Scripture clearly labels the RC church as the ‘whore’ with ‘Mystery Babylon’ written on her forehead. However, even if we were to ignore that scripture - and history itself - the rest of scripture as a whole (eg the whole Bible) tells us doctrinely that the RC church is evil and antichrist on numerous points.
Antichrist means in ‘place of’, and the RC priestly and papal tradition gets in the place of Jesus Christ making it ‘antichrist’. The true gospel and the true Jesus is not preached, again this makes Rome antichrist. There is also idolatary and veneration of Mary. Just the names the pope calls himself are bad enough in themselves to qualify papal rule as antichrist. I could go on for a long time about numerous points of scripture showing how antichrist the RC church is, as well as of course speak of the filthy riches and corruption which are no part of Christ.
How you can possibly claim the RC church is not evil or corrupt - given the abundant evidence from history - is beyond me.

Really? Have you read the Bible lately? God HATES sin. God HATES idolatary. Jesus was ANGRY when he turned over the tables in the temple and called the pharisees a nest of vipers. Yes God is love. But He is also angry and he hates what is going on in Rome and a prophet who does not testify to these things does not know God or speak with God.
I live in Ohio and The Newark Holy Stones were part of this prophecy. He’s here. I also have the seven goldencandlestick holders, the two olive branches and two candlesticks, and more that God saw in this house over 2000 years ago. I know the whole prophecy. Way more than what is on this page.

144,000 is a positive whole integer. It has a religious significance for Christians because of its use in the Book of Revelations of the New Testament. It is also significant in some New Age religious movements.
The 144000 has more than one meaning. One meaning is bank routing numbers used by corrupt government, Useless bankers, CIA, FBI, lawyers, judges and mafia that have infiltrated into our government that are stealing money from the stock markets in the USA and hiding the money overseas in accounts under a new name. Chapter 2 makes references to the witness protection program, and hiding money under a new name. From chapter 2 King James Version, “To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” Just like Eron took everyone’s 401k retirement money and used it to play the stock market, and then they said they lost the money, more than likely into overseas accounts. Only hurt those men that don’t have the seal of our God/Father. The 144000 from chapter 7 are the same corrupt people sealing the media from leaking anything of this magnitude to the general public. Why? Because even some of our big name media are involved in money laundering. Like chapter 18 says, “the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies”. This is the Great Whore from chapter 17, and the Great red dragon from chapter 12 to DEVOUR THIS CHILD. The third church in chapter 2 is Pergamos, Gambinos, organized crime. I posted a while back on your piece about tongues, which seemed to be the final proof I needed in order to be completely set free from the whole pentecostal-charismatic movement. I still come back to your blog from time to time because I appreciate your energetic exposure of so many false doctrines and ministries and have learned a lot from you. I came back this time because I’m hoping you might still reconsider your own clinging to anything in the signs and wonders camp as you still do.
I’ve gone on from your very helpful information to continue to strengthen my conviction that there is absolutely nothing in the charismatic movement that is of God, except of course that I think there are true Christians in the movement who need to be rescued from it.
There’s a lot out there that exposes the movement to its roots in such a way that nothing is left standing. I’ve found particular help from the KJV-only camp, interestingly enough, along with help to completely set me free in that respect too, from lingering doubts about the modern Bible versions. God is not the author of confusion but the movement has been characterized by confusion since the beginning. Obscene and undignified behavior is not of God. Witches and satanists were quite at home at Azusa Street. Aimee Semple McPherson is revered by occultists. Found that out somewhere else, maybe I’ll find a link on that for you too.
There’s no particular reason why I’m posting this on your Malachy discussion except that I just happened to read it because I’ve been interested in that prophecy too. I would comment that of course it’s a prophecy from the pit of Hell, but it MIGHT just be factually true that the next Pope will be the last. The signs are we’re so close to the end there may not even be time for this one to die, but the times are in the Lord’s hands. This prophecy is one of the reasons I’ve thought the next and last Pope could be the Antichrist. For other reasons I think he might be more likely one of the satellite antichrists that will gather around the Big Kahuna, but in any case I don’t dismiss the prophecy completely. Of course anyone who believes the pro-Catholic interpretation of the tale will be deceived.
You have such excellent discernment about so many things. I can only hope and pray that you might be completely set free from the signs and wonders you think are of God but aren’t, which was also the case with me and many others who came out of this movement.

You are right in that there is a lot of deception in modern day pentecostalism/charismatic including occultic roots etc - but it goes back to even before the 1900s Azusa craze that exploded into modern day pentecostalism. You should read what formed Azusa as it goes back many years before then. I have a lot of respect for A B Simpson (writing before and just after Azusa) BUT you can see the roots for modern day errant doctrines in some of his writings (which still contain a lot of truth and some real gems), and also others writings like D L Moody and Charles Finney - then see where they come from, follow the chain back further as discussed previously. There’s nothing new under the sun. Look at everything that formed them - even the holiness movement from Catherine Booth and the Salvation Army and Methodism etc that formed them and fed into them and see their roots that become even more distorted and twisted over time.
But I’ve always said this anyway about the modern day movement. But I still uphold there is the genuine - which may look different to what you think I think it looks like. It is right and good and well you are freed from the present day ‘movement’ - I agree with that - but not from freed from believing God intervenes miraculously or gives real spiritual gifts to his people that must be tested.
If you see me specifically defending anything that is erroneous or dodgy, then please speak up…..on any of the posts. I will appreciate your imput and correction if applicable, though I don’t think I’ve erred to date on this blog. But certainly I will appreciate your viewpoints as I know they come from a real seeker of the truth, and that I cannot ever condemn even when we do not see eye to eye.
I am not in the modern signs and wonders camp as there’s way too much heresy, and thank God for opening my eyes as its not by human discernment I see what I see as I was led astray for years when I did not question and blindly followed. But even with (partially) ‘opened eyes’ I believe in real signs and wonders - and real spiritual gifts. I do not defend modern day teachings and the modern movement as I think you well know, but I hold to scripture which indicates these things can continue. We should discard the false or the good from false spirits, and hold onto the good from the Holy Spirit alone.
There are problems with KJV only, its a bit cultic, please be very careful. Though there are mistranslations and modern day ecumenical Catholic pleasing Bibles, some people seem to think that God himself speaks in thees and thous and your bible must be black and gilt edged to be correct and only the KJV will ever be good enough - many would reject a modern version even if 100% correct as they think KJV only was given to the church. KJV still has inaccuricies in it CJ.
Yeah, I know, there’s a cultic feel to a lot of the KJV-only stuff. I did study the issues some time ago and concluded the KJV is the best but never quite made the switch to it since so many good Christians use the others. But I finally had to admit that I personally have a bad feeling when I try to read the other translations. Hate them all, truly, but have tried to suppress that feeling for years. Now I finally admit I can’t stand them, and I do believe that all the evidence shows that they are seriously flawed in a way the KJV is not, whatever its faults. It’s not that the KJV stands out in a particular way, it’s that the others are so clearly rotten. Just for one tiny feeling-based thing, that triquetra logo on the NKJV actually grates on my nerves when I see it. Grates on my soul, really. It’s not exactly a physical sensation. I would love to see the scriptures in modern English done the way the KJV was done, by many born again Spirit led scholars. But it isn’t going to happen. So I’m persuaded to stick with the thees and thous for now — which probably means to the End.
On the validity of the gifts for today. It’s not that I think there isn’t such a thing as the genuine gifts, it’s that they are not anywhere in reality. What exists is not the real thing. I witnessed many and experienced many and am having to let go of all of them. I did finally run across a teaching that may resolve all this, that the prophecy in Joel is really for the very last days before the Lord Jesus returns. THAT’s when “your sons and daughters shall prophesy” and so on, that is, during the days when the sun is turned into darkness and the moon into blood, which did not happen at Pentecost although it’s part of the Joel prophecy. The gifts DID occur at Pentecost, but historically it is simply a fact that they died out. What we are seeing today is not genuine. I don’t see that any bit of it is genuine, Miriam. But the interpretation of Joel that puts them in the time of the tribulation seems to resolve all this to my mind.
