Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God's word

God is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan

I thought this hilarious, as my husband is a huge Steelers fan, and could have told you that they always have been God’s Own Team. I am sure others here could also do with a good laugh so share it with you. Apparently, God loves the Steelers so much he even named Heinz Field with his ‘eternal purposes’ in mind. And those eternal purposes? A bland and ridiculous prophecy, see below, from Bill Yount of Blowing the Shofar Ministries.  Of course, many Steelers fans could tell you that Heinz Field is really named after one of its star players, Heinz Ward!

I wrote before in another post, ‘The real call to the Laodicean church’, to ‘do not despise prophecy or treat it with contempt…’  but people like Bill Yount make it very difficult for the normal church not to despise prophecy if this is the diet they are getting fed with day after day. Bland insipid stuff that is not prophetic, but is called prophetic – silly actions labelled prophetic when they are not, or blatantly false words and even ludicrous stuff like this …. well, surely even the neo prophets themselves are tired of this rubbish, I know I certainly am. Just like pastor to the false prophets, Mike Bickle, said to this effect, ‘I have only ever really cherished a handful out of the thousands of prophecies I have ever heard.’  There you go, you have heard it from the horse’s mouth himself - even he finds it contemptious and prophecy is his business – literally. Is this any wonder Mike Bickle, when rubbish like this is passed fit for public distribution and is called prophetic and you refuse to demand proper accountability from your own prophets? It reminds me of the infamous anointed candy bar prophecy that others have mocked on some blogs, and deservedly so, that was posted on the false prophet’s favourite money spinner, The Elijah List run by Steve Schulz. Its author? Bill Yount again!

‘Prophet’ Bill Yount said of the Steelers stadium:

‘HEINZ FIELD REMINDS ME OF ‘HEINZ 57 VARIETY’!

‘I believe God named this new stadium Heinz Field with His eternal purposes in mind. It is interesting that the Heinz Company originally chose the number 57 to advertise the variety of their products. Through time they have increased that number to over one thousand products but they still choose to keep the number 57 to advertise. Five means ‘grace’ and seven means ‘to perfect’. I believe ‘Heinz 57 variety’ is the key to the kingdom of God in this city and others. God loves variety in His kingdom and especially as different streams of ministries, and denominations come together to worship. We may have our favorite style of worship but God’s specialty I sense is the variety of it all being different. I think that’s why He never gets bored like we do! I believe when it comes to different worship styles God says, “It’s all good!” I see the Heinz Stadium overflowing with a variety of worshipers from all kinds of denominations as God shouts..”Every style of worship with its music is My favorite when it’s unto Me! You have My grace and I am perfecting you through love.”‘

The Candy Bar Prophecy made in 2004

“For those who think this word may be ‘way out there’…remember God is way out there! ….I sense the Lord is not only beginning to clean up the media and secular businesses, but He will actually begin to prophesy through them…..Have you seen the commercial on television that has the cargo plane passing over and dumping money on the city, a little girl’s birthday party, etc? I sense the Lord saying, ‘It is time to dispatch those who work in my cargo section to fill the plane to full capacity to begin dumping my blessings upon the earth, cities, and even little children’s birthday parties!’ …Another commercial that has been popular for some time is the one about the cell phone…’Can you hear me now?’ (God) ….I sense the Father saying, ‘I will begin to meddle in the candy industry.’ I sense the Lord is going to begin to name some new candy bars. When these are named they will release a prophetic anointing every time the name of the candy is mentioned. These names will have power to call forth life and salvation. I am sure this prophetic candy is bound to have a heavenly taste to it that will be out of this world! People will end up tasting and seeing that the Lord is good! I saw angels anointing candy bar wrappers like God anointing prayer cloths of Apostle Paul. Names on popular candy wrappers will speak prophetically to whomever reads or speaks their names. Candy wrappers will become like anointed prayer cloths throughout the land. Already, God has named a few candy bars in the past, speaking — unknown — to the world. One, I sense, is called the ‘Milky Way’ candy bar…’The heavens declare the Glory of God!’ Another is ‘Symphony’ by Hershey…’Calling forth harmony and unity into the Body of Christ through God’s divine order.’ ….Concerning clothing, I sense the Lord is redeeming now the name of ‘Levi’s’…a trademark name for denim jeans and trousers. I sense a prophetic anointing is being imparted to this clothing line. The name of these jeans will begin to call forth the ’spiritual’ Levites this hour who are chosen to assist the Temple priests…the building of God’s House. This line of clothing will be tailor made to fit these ones God will call into His Kingdom! Another popular name I sense being anointed prophetically in the clothing line of jeans is ‘Wrangler.’ A wrangler is one who wrangles. ‘Wrangle’ means to ‘dispute noisily or angrily; to quarrel.’ I sense the Lord anointing ‘wrangler’ clothing to tame the tongues and lasso a new breed of young men and women who will have the ‘tongue of the learned to know how to speak a word to those who are weary.’

The Hollywood Prophecy

“Enough is enough!” came the cry from unknown sources to the enemy. A shout unlike any other began to penetrate movie cameras, actors, directors and producers. Was the pendulum beginning to finally swing in the opposite direction from hell itself? The cry grew louder, “Heaven wants Hollywood!” Angels “unaware” would infiltrate certain scenes that had crowds of people in them. After some takes of these scenes the crowd on camera would appear larger in numbers but for some reason many producers felt peace about it and would let it go. As the movie was released so would an impartation of divine power flow out of the screen during these certain scenes as conviction and repentance would pierce hearts.

Some stars’ look-a-like stand-ins would sometimes be “only Heaven knows who!” It seemed a season was now starting and calling for supernatural intervention in Hollywood’s entertainment and movie industry. Angels were responding to that call as violent intercession was causing the “Bright and Morning Star” to rise over Hollywood.

The only thing I can agree on is “Enough is enough!”  Please Bill Yount, step down already! Hmm, I am actually getting a word now about the neo prophets myself ….I consider myself rather an expert on candy so here goes -

Snickers – has nuts in it, says you guys are nuts
Fruit and Nut - says you guys are both fruity and nutty
Galaxy – smooth and rich
Maltesers – light and air headed
Toblerone – nicely packaged but far too expensive
Guilane – looks nice but no substance – a rip off
Flake – self explanatory
Bournville Deeply Dark – the real source behind you guys
Swizzles – exactly
Allsorts – lacks discernment
Jelly Babies – we like to bite the head off our critics
Smarties – if only you were smart and knew your Bible
Quality Street - Ministers will live in one qaulity street because you give us  your money as we sell you prophecy and merchandise the gospel to you
Chocolate in general – is addictive and makes you fat and lazy

And remember this too – chocolate tastes nice but is bad for you!

  1. Wow. It’s probably cause it’s late and I just need to go to bed, but I don’t think I’ve laughed this hard in days. This gentleman isn’t serious, is he, with the commercial products predictions? Did some advertisers pay him to just name drop like that?

Hilarious. I hope GOD had a good laugh at the lunacy, too. How blatantly ridiculous. GOD have mercy on the poor folks who took the ‘prophecy’ to heart and actually had the nerve to repeat it in earnest to their friends.

“I sense the Lord is redeeming now the name of ‘Levi’s’…a trademark name for denim jeans and trousers. I sense a prophetic anointing is being imparted to this clothing line. The name of these jeans will begin to call forth the ’spiritual’ Levites this hour who are chosen to assist the Temple priests…the building of God’s House. This line of clothing will be tailor made to fit these ones God will call into His Kingdom!” — Really, Mr. Yount? Really?

And after the laughter, it’s disgust, pity and what a shame. What a price these false teachers/preachers/prophets will have to pay…

  2. Enough is definitely enough! I must confess I have been “filled to overflowing” by eating too many “anointed” candy bars and cannot fit into my “anointed” jeans. Does anyone know of any “anointed” diets out there or even jeans with an elasticated waist? They don’t necessarily have to be “anointed” but if they were at least “redeemed” I’m sure they would be suitable for this not so “heavenly” body!

God bless you, Miriam, I LOVE your website!

  4. Man, You folks know how to despise the subjective prophetic. Dangerous ground yours. I guess immature prophet wannabees never really understand the meaning of things when they are given in types and shadows. The Pharisees didn’t get it even and neither do you.

If you read the book of Isaiah it’s full of the subjective prophetic. You shall call his name…..

Poke a little fun at that will you?

I read Prophet Yount’s prophetic writing and get goose bumps.

It’s YOU who should step down. You are blind.

  5. hahaha – sorry that’s all I am able to muster after reading this post.

  6. Gene, I can’t believe that you can even look at the elijahlist and and keep a straight face. You either have to laugh or weep. If I were you, I would weep.

I do not doubt your sincerity in your love for Jesus. I cannot judge any of your motives. But I can ask if you are truly serious or just joking when you say you “get goosebumps” when you see a prophecy from Yount, can’t I?

  7. I know just what you mean; I feel the same way about candy bars and experience deep satisfaction each time I indulge my fleshly desire for chocolate. Regular mindless consumption of a sweet, sugary, unhealthy diet with no nutritional value or substance feels great and gives me goose bumps too!

  8. “I guess immature prophet wannabees never really understand the meaning of things when they are given in types and shadows”

    well Gene,
Tells us the deep prophetic meaning of anointed candy bars and Levi’s genes will you? Please.

    Comment by Mary | November 28, 2007

  9. Gene: I know you do not like me or what I say as I dare to criticise your peers and their words and behaviour, and I know also that you claim to be ‘prophetic’. Well if you consider yourself spiritual or prophetic, prophesy this to yourself and judge for yourself what is right:

Ask God for the gift of discernment and also wisdom in the sure faith that God will give this to you as God gives to all without finding fault. (James 1.) However you still have to exercise these gifts once they are recieved, immersing yourself in the word of God and going by that over experience, and repent of any past lack of wisdom, or previous lack of discernment or any other such sin or folly such as being disobedient to God’s command to test the spirits and to weigh up things. Ask God to open your eyes to any areas you are deceived in – we all need this, me included so I am not being personal about you.

I dare you then, Gene, after you have asked for discernment and wisdom, to ask God with an OPEN mind about certain things one by one, asking him to open your blind eyes and forgive your hidden faults and folly and areas you are currently decieved in (and we are all blind and foolish to some degree so I am not being judgmental to say this) – then ask God about your beliefs, Bill Yount and the other prophetic ministries you currently endorse. You have nothing to fear by doing this but everything to gain. For if these ministries are truly God’s anointed, then God will love to talk with you about them and endorse them. You can only be blessed by humble prayer and conversation with the real God - whatever he says about these things, good or bad, you will be blessed. Truth is good. Light is good, you want truth and light, right? If these things are good you’ll get even more light on them and truth so you win, and if they are of the darkness as I and many claim, then you win too as you can be rescued from your folly – that is if you love truth over the supernatural experiences and these people for I know some know these things to be false deep down but continue in them as they love them more than God. And I encourage you to do this dialogue with God via a good old old fashioned conversation with God where you maintain control of your mind, not via a gnostic third heaven visionary experience or manifestations.

We can all be decieved. When I first became a Christian I rigorously tested everything people said (as best as I could bearing in mind I knew almost nothing), but then when I found a church and people I trusted, over time I got out of the habit of always testing everything anymore, and it evolved over time without me consciously realising it to trusting man instead. I had forgotten God’s command to test and weigh everything. (Actually I was ignorant of it as I did not know the word of God at all well in those days although I thought I did.) If people I thought to be great and godly like my YWAM leaders, John Wimber etc said something was of God, I usually trusted them as they were then a lot older, wiser and maturer than me (so I thought) and I also reasoned any doubt away by thinking if it were that erroneous these cool spirit filled people would not be into it – and like many in the church I went into a relatively passive mode over the years without even realising and accepted things I should not have. In other words I trusted other people to discern for me, instead of doing it myself as I am the one accountable for my own beliefs.

Some things I accepted I knew at the time (like the Toronto Blessing which God warned me about when it happened and about a year before, but I reasoned this away by thinking I must have misunderstood), but other times, a belief system and worldview evolved I was not even fully aware of – because I was taught or accepted it was ’so’ in the circles I moved in, I never really questioned it for myself as to whether it was biblical or not. I tested and thought about other churches and beliefs far more than my own circle’s usually. It should also be noted that I would think about huge things (Like Toronto) but there is also a drip drip effect of seemingly little small theology which does not seem to be needed to be tested – but these tiny strands of thought all add up and can lead a Christian many miles off the truth path. ‘Do not despise the day of small things’….well test and weigh everything, big and small, as even little things lead somewhere.

I was then that naieve that I could not believe a spirit filled church could be full of ungodly leaders who would intentionally sin or abuse the flock. I honestly thought that anyone who was truly spirit filled would in their heart love God or be as committed to Him and want his truth as much as I did and would test and weight things wanting the truth. This is not true. God commanded me some years later to this to ‘take my rose tinted spectacles off’ which I did not at first understand but then he explained and told me I only ever wanted to prophetically see the good and speak positive things and blessing to people, which was all very well and nice, but it was not what he wanted – if I never spoke the faults, people sometimes could not be healed or dealt with. So God wanted to point out the stone in the horse’s shoe so it could be removed and run again but I needed to point out that stone to the horse. Since then my ministry has become far more effective (though I am now persecuted for it), and also my eyes have opened up still more and I have seen how wicked church leaders can be, even spirit filled ones, and how church people plot etc etc and it grieves me no end. Sometimes, when it gets hard, I think of the good old days when I was back in my bubble and the world was my friend, but hey the truth is the truth, and I do not really want to be so naive and blinkered again though it makes for a far easier life. Knowledge is power. In the same way I say to you, Gene, take your rose tinted specs off – wake up and smell the coffee! The enemy pounds around your circles seeking to devour you! Will you be wise to him and his schemes, or will you shut your eyes and be happily seduced in la la land?

It was only when I was taken out of those circles, and being away from them for some years that I saw things with new fresh eyes and realised, this was not all biblical it was just my Christian cultural! For example, it was only when I actually asked God (which I should have done from the beginning) about Paul Cain, that my eyes were actually opened to him. (He was previously my ‘hero’ – why because he seemed to give such specific words of knowledge, of course this is no good scriptural plumbline as to whether someone is of God or not). Did God not commend people for testing those who claimed to be apostles and were not? Test the super-apostles, Gene! Your soul depends on it.

I know you have ‘faith’ but misplaced faith is not wise. Even on your own blog talking about ‘lemons’ you claim:

‘I have known too many people, good people, who were optimistic about everything. They believed that is there is a pile of poop there has to be a pony in there somewhere. Sometimes it’s just a pile of poop.’

and in another post you say:

Last Friday night a friend of mine showed me a video she had taken that had a light that showed up in the video. It was still in her camera. She asked me if I thought it was an angel. I said I didn’t know. But, knowing her and her passion for Jesus I suspected it was real and was indeed angelic in nature. No demon would put himself in that situation.

At the house of Prayer in the last few weeks there have been visible angelic visitations. Several people have seen them. I haven’t – Yet. I will.

A news story with surveillance video records the visitation of a supernatural presence. Angel or demon I don’t know. I’m guessing Angel. I want to believe it was an angel. Mostly because there would be a good reassurance for those who believe and a stirring for those who are skeptics.

‘I want to believe.’ You give yourself away, Gene. You are so eager for supernatural experiences, that you will believe anything and everything that seems supernatural is of God. This is contrary to I John’s teaching to test the spirits, hold on to the good and discard the false, as not all supernatural activity is of God. Why do you not honour God, Gene, (or believe him in this) and follow the Bible and test these things? Do you not think the apostle John saw far more supernatural activity than you and I have so far? Don’t you think he knew what he was talking about?

    >Mostly because there would be a good reassurance for those who believe

This of course is not true. Why would you need reassurance of God by a puff of blue smoke at a service station in Florida. Is your faith that weak? Furthermore signs and wonders always point somewhere, they have a message to them. They point to the word. What is the message in a mysterious cloud of blue smoke that either freaks people out or titillates them at a gas station? Where is the word? How is God glorified? How does this point to Jesus?

Furthermore, you claim ‘no demon would put himself in that situation’. Wake up Gene, are you really that blind or foolish?! I mean, really? Do you not know Satan comes as an angel of light to the brethren?

  11. Wow…that was……lol. It’s people like this that make all christians look bad. That’s just all….I have nothing to say I guess. That is embarassing, and Bill Yount, whoever you are, go sit in a cave and actually hear God, not try to build your apparent stock holdings in clothing and candy companies through ‘prophetic’ words. 17. These are the days of Elijah
Declaring the word of the Lord
And these are the days of your servant Moses
    Righteousness being restored
And though these are days of great trial
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert, crying,
“Prepare ye the way of the Lord!”

    Chorus:
    Behold he comes
    Riding on the clouds
    Shining like the sun
    At the trumpet call
    So lift your voice
    It’s the year of Jubilee
And out of Zion’s hills salvation comes!

These are the days of Ezekiel
The dry bones becoming as flesh
And these are the days of your servant David
    Rebuilding a temple of praise
And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are as white in your world
And we are the laborers in your vineyard
Declaring the word of the Lord.

Please don’t find anything wrong with this song…. it’s my daughters favourite, and I’m depressed enough :/

    Comment by Elizabeth A | August 17, 2008

  19. I remember this song now! Used to sing at at Vineyard.

Well I am sorry to say that I do see some problems in it as while many sing it innocently singing by what THEY understand as the lyrics, it does contain false theology with buzz words for all those in the know.

“These are the days of Elijah” and “the righteousness being restored” do point to a false dispensationalist Latter Rain theology, one of restoration and dominion.

“And these are the days of Your servant David
Rebuilding the temple of praise” is also linked to this movement. Lee wrote a very good post on that here http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/confusion-on-the-davidic-tabernacle-ihop-mike-bickle/

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | August 17, 2008

  20. Elizabeth A.,

Sorry to be the potential bearer of bad news here. :-(

Rebuilding the temple of praise sounds like the Tabernacle of David teaching at IHOP and other places.

‘Prepare ye the way of the Lord’.

This is something Latter Rainers believe we must do. Coincidentally (?), this is what Theosophists/New Agers believe in to usher in the new ‘Christ’ or, actually, the Antichrist.

There’s more; but, I’ll leave it at that.

    Comment by Lee | August 17, 2008

  21. Ah well, I think I will probably find something wrong with most of the modern songs if I look ‘ard enuf (sorry, slipped into a favourite Wood and Walters sketch there!). I know. I can hear the outcry already. At church, we have a lovely Methodist minister who questions the Theology of every ‘new-ish’ song we sing.

Guess I’ll have to e-mail Robin Mark and ask him myself what he believes.

    Yep, I’m definitely depressed.

  24. Miriam, I have written lots of songs. My husband made me get them copyrighted a few years ago. A lot of my songs would not be welocmed in a typical church. They are warning songs and the church I used to play them in kind of didn’t like them. They liked the ones that were sweet that were between the Lord and me. But they really didn’t care about the songs procliaming repentence and the last days and the church being a whore. :)

  25. Actually, I too am a poet. A friend recently suggested that I make them ‘available’ on the internet. However, they were all written from a broken heart in times of suffering. They are probably not politically correct, doctrinally correct or any other correct. I wrote songs too as a very young Christian….they are naive, simple and childlike. Any use d’ya think?

  34. hmmm…maybe that’s why the logo is 3 in 1 (gold, red, and blue), and there is only 1 logo (not 2) on the helmet…maybe the 2 super bowl winning quarterbacks wore #s 12 and 7 for a reason…

hmmm…in the last super bowl on the winning play the ball was on the 7 yard line…the game was played on 2.1.9 – which adds up to 12…the final score (27-23) adds up to 50 (jubilee)…

and finally…is the 6th super bowl trophy (which is simply idolatry) a sign that God is sick of this mess and he is about to begin the end – the first one to win 6 (the number of man) and it’s over?

I was 12 years old when we moved to Pittsburgh, within 2 years the Steelers won their first championship…in 40 years of existence…I have repented of being an idolator and pray for God’s people to repent and be prepared for what is coming.

  35. All these ‘word connections’ and ‘word associations’ and symbolism and numerology…it can be part of mental illness. I know of several persons who have schizophrenia, and they ‘link up’ words and phrases and names to anything they want. Example: A man’s name is ‘Paul’…so the ill person surmises that he is the ‘apostle Paul’. Or, he prays in his mind for something trivial/insignificant-totally unrelated to the situation- to happen, and it does. Then, the deluded person assumes ‘god answered this prayer’. And so it goes. Maybe the delusions are part of a real schizophrenic illness? Name associations, product associations, bizarre ‘prophetic’ rambling, inane reasoning…sounds like mental illness gone wild! Nonsensical absurdity at it’s best! (or worst)
