Peter Popoff – Holy Miracle Water & Financial Seeds & Blessing

Despite his very public exposing as a fraud and charlatan some years ago on national television, TV evangelist Peter Popoff is back in business up to his same old tricks. Perhaps the public have forgotten, or perhaps they don’t care, or perhaps they are so desparate they will try anything, but whatever it is,  his business is doing better than it ever was – underlining the truth in God’s word that many folk don’t value the truth and will willingly give themself over to deception and delusion.

According to tax returns, Popoff’s ministry took in more than US$23 million in 2005. He paid himself over $600,000, and paid another $600,000 to his wife and two children.  Phew, that is some salary! Being a false teacher and false prophet in today’s church obviously makes a very good living….which is one of the reasons why so many of them are on the scene, and why most of the Christian television channels exist. (And you naively thought they existed to promote the gospel and help people? If only! I think they like former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher’s, motto which was: ‘God only helps those who help themselves’, so they help themselves – to the lot wherever possible.)

I’ve posted on this site previously the personalised chain letters Peter Popoff sends out to encourage donations to his ministry, and some of the quacky items sent with them that are more talismans encouraging superstition than objects encouraging true faith in God. Peter Popoff may as well be selling lucky bits of heather as it is the same superstitious root at the heart of it. His teachings are as far removed from the true gospel as the east is from the west. Popoff’s real gospel is one of greed, greed, greed. Greed number one for him. And encouraging greed in the person being ‘ministered to’, but what the other person thinks or feels or experiences is of far less consequence to him – as long as they get their wallet out, it’s all good. 

One of Peter Popoff’s latest scams is his free ’Miracle Water’ – supposedly from Israel (as if that makes any differance to its real holiness or effectiveness), which I understand now is ’supersized’. He gives instructions to drink this holy water, and in five days God will bless the recipent with lots of money. But before this, you need to send Popoff a cheque as a ’seed’. He also encloses a bag of ’sacred Dead Sea salt’ (sacred?!!) that you’re supposed to sprinkle over a cheque for a superstitious amout of $27 and send it to Popoff too. Is this while you roll up one trouser leg and whirl around in a circle chanting a rhyme backwards, I wonder? Salt is commonly found in all  the pagan religions and superstitions.

Anyway, a packet of Popoff’s ’sacred salt’ was analysed and found to be just a common salt package you’d get in any burger joint. So if you want to get some sacred salt go visit McDonalds instead and see if you can hawk all the salt packets you can pack into your pockets to some poor sucker for US$27 each. Not surprisingly most folk will tell you where to go.  How does Popoff get away with it then? Ah! Perhaps you should write ‘anointed’ on the packet instead – that’ll do the trick and might even get you US$77 each as ‘anointed’ has got to be worth more than ’sacred’ – right?  Perhaps I should cc this idea across to the Elijah List.  And if anyone tells you off, just tell em ‘touch not my anointed etc’, and quote a scripture out of context about being the salt of the earth and this is a prophetic action and a prophetic seed or something like that, and that’ll keep most of them quietly obedient, if not digging into their pockets to buy a packet for themselves.
