A den of thieves and robbers
Some of the moneychangers in the temple thought they had a legitimate ‘ministry’ selling legit products. Yet Jesus turned over their tables and declared they had made His Father’s House into a den of thieves and robbers. How many so-called legitimate ministries today could be likewise declared thiefs and robbers in God’s House?

I had just written and posted the above, when I came across this quote from Leonard Ravenhill:
“Preachers who have homes and cottages by the lake, a boat on that lake, and a big bank balance, still beg for more…These dear, doll-like preachers-boys no longer change their suits once a day, but two or three times a day. They preach the Jesus of the stables, but themselves live in swank hotels. For their own lusts they bleed the audience financially in the name of the One who had to borrow a penny to illustrate His sermon. They wear expensive Hollywood suits in honor of One who wore a peasant’s robe…How fearful will all this be in the judgment morning?”
David Ravenhill (son of Leonard) said:
“I’m convinced that the carnal, cunning, conniving, crooked crooks that Jesus drove out of the Temple are still among us today. These modern day moneychangers are forever devising new and deceptive doctrines to defraud God’s people out of His/their money. These masters of deceit have now set up their changing tables throughout the Christian television industry…Stop pandering to these moneychangers. These men and women live like kings while spending your money to buy mansions and jets for themselves. They dine in the finest restaurants, wear the latest designer fashions and then have the audacity to tell you that you can live the same way as long as you give to their ministry.”
But it is not just the TV evangelists who fleece the sheep, sadly. It goes all the way down the chain.
Refer to the Elijah List, for example, and see the expensive overpriced and not to mention dubious products sold on there which gives more examples of modern day moneychanging….for 18 bucks plus shipping you - yes you! - can buy the tangible presence of God and anointing courtesy of Todd Bentley who went into heaven for you! http://www.elijahshopper.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CD-TB003
The Elijah List are hawking the presense of God?!!
‘This CD, the latest in Todd Bentley’s soaking series, is sure to take you into the glory and presence of God. Todd says he believes this is his best and most anointed CD project so far. In this recording you will hear Todd speaking powerful soaking prayers over inspiring instrumental sounds and sweet female vocals. Titles of some of the tracks include: ‘Waiting on the Lord,’ ‘Intimacy, Fruitfulness & Anointing,’ ‘Drinking by Faith’ and ‘Marinating.’ This CD is recorded for those who want to be saturated with the presence of the Holy Spirit and whose hearts long for deep intimacy with Jesus.
While recording this CD in Kelowna British Columbia, Todd experienced visions and visitations of the Supernatural Realms of Heaven. Todd, his father Dave Bentley, as well as others present in the recording studio felt the tangible presence and anointing of the Lord in a new and exciting way. The tangible presence and anointing is transferable and is definitely captured on this very special recording.’
So this new and exciting way, which you won’t want to miss, and this remarkable anointing, is yours for only US$18.00 dollars plus shipping which is hardly cheap for a CD, far less for a ministry CD …..
Legitimate ministries? Or Money changers?
I’ve run out of fingers and toes…
I can’t stand seeing that ’soaking’ phrase. Soaking. Marinating. How about calling it what it really is — meditation. And not the kind of mediating you’d do while trying to understand the depth of a Holy Bible verse, for example. This is meditation calling for you to ‘empty’ yourself, leave your mind ‘open’ … you know, get into a trance-like state so a demon can come along and give you REAL visions of prettied-up lies.
Why don’t people want to draw a line anymore? Why do we think it’s OK to mix and match when it comes to the Gospel. I’ve never read anything about the Apostles ’soaking’ in anything.
You probably never read about disciples typing letters, sending emails, or watching television or radio. Where is the order to “empty yoursel?” I believe that there are scriptures tat are read in many places. I guess maybe every Christian is called to give everything away. It seems okay for popular “secular” artists to sell movies, cds, dvds for outrageous prices but Chrsitians. I think we are told somewhere to honor God’s servants. When was the last time you went to a movie and paid good money to watch ungodly entertainment?
I recently subscribed to Elijah’s list and every time I open the email I can feel God’s tangible presence. I haven’t bought anything from the list. It’s free and not a requirement that subscribers have to buy anything but I’m glad they offer the books and music. This is an anointed ministry. I agree with Edward. How can the gospel be spread without the tool of money. Money isn’t evil, the LOVE of money is evil. There is a difference.
How nice for you Mary. I suggest what you are feeling is not God, though of course you think it is. In fact I guarantee it is not. For the Elijah List and its prophets is false as false can be. Stop focussing on the tangible presense which decieves, and focus on the word of God in the BIBLE.
You might want to test your presense. Sweet, amazing, wonderful it may feel, but you will soon learn its true source if you properly test it.
