New Mystic stigmatic Lucy Rael caught faking angel feathers & word of knowledge

I wrote earlier this year of Glenn Smith of Shem Ministries caught faking it by planting gemstones before one of his meetings. http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/01/11/gemstones-fraud-glenn-smith-caught-redhanded/ Others have been similarly caught planting plastic glitter in their hair before their meetings. A lot of us always knew this stuff was fake, but would people hear it? And many of them still won’t hear it, even with the irrefutable proof in!

The whole gold dust/gemstones/angel feathers/oil/stigmatism is popular with the new prophetic-apostolic crowd – Bob Jones and the Kansas City prophets brigade, Patricia King of Extreme Prophetic, Joshua Mills, John Crowder, Todd Bentley, etc… as well as the Catholics who ‘invented’ it.

Stigmatism has become a new sign and wonder for these folk, although it is yet to really catch on like the gold dust and gemstones. Although Lucy Rael has been on the scene for a while, she has become better known as one of the new Mystics linked with John Crowder and crowd. http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/john-crowder-and-the-new-mystics-sons-of-thunder/ She appears at Bethel Christian Center (Bill Johnson’s church) regularly – no surprise, they love angel feathers and other questionable signs and wonders. She also appeared at last month’s Manifestations of Glory Conference in Gergia with John Crowder, Joshua Mills, Georgian Banov, Kay Beyer, and Benjamin Dunn.

The Elijah List say of Lucy Rael: ‘For decades, Lucy Rael’s life and ministry have been marked by supernatural signs, demonstrating a powerful witness that has led countless souls to believe on the Lord for salvation. She has also shared the stage with greats such as A.A. Allen, Kenneth Hagin, and other signs and wonders forerunners.’

Back in the late 1980s, Lucy Rael’s alleged stigmata was being sponsored by T L Osborn. Although Lucy was raised a Catholic, and has not renounced Roman Catholicism, she and her husband Sito then considered T. L and Daisy Osborn their pastors.

There is an article about stigmata and on whether her stigmata is faked or not here: http://www.mediaspotlight.org/Stigmata-IsLucyRael-ForReal.pdf

From that article, I wanted to particularly highlight the following incident of Lucy Rael caught planting heavenly feathers. Although it was then called dove feathers (to testify to the dove of the Holy Spirit), this belief has now morphed into the far more popular angel feathers, but it is the same old charlatanism at work – angels feathers bring in more crowds, evidently, and can now tie in with the heretical mania for the attention-diverting-away-from-Christ angels in all their glory. You know the ones like ‘Emma’, ‘Swift’, ‘Breakthrough Anointing’, ‘Winds of Change’ and ‘angels of Finance’ promoted by all prophets of the William Branham school. I wonder if there is an angel called ‘Colossians Heresy’? After this, is another article where Lucy Rael was caught faking prophecy. As she was giving out words of knowledge, every name called out by her was in that day’s church Bulletin…..

On Thanksgiving day, 1988, Lucy appeared as a mistress of ceremonies at “The Church Reunion,” held at the Mabee Center of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Several prominent leaders within the charismatic movement were speakers during the four-day event. On this occasion the stigmata did not manifest in Lucy’s body. But something even more remarkable took place. Calling songstress Vicki Jamison to come forward, Lucy had her close her eyes and look upward, as she had the audience do. To the accompaniment of the song, “Sweet Anointing,” Lucy encouraged everyone to “Just close your eyes and worship Him.” Her words to Vicki Jamison set the stage for an unsettling incident:

Sister Vicki, today you’re going to have a visitation from the Holy Spirit. You’re going to be anointed afresh and anew. You’re going to feel the anointing of God come all over you when you minister.
The enemy has tried to destroy you. Hc’s come against you in sickness. But God’s not through with you He’s not through with you, sister Vicki. But you’re going to have a visitation from the Holy Ghost this day,that you’re going to go forth with such scope and power. Hallelujah! You’re going to enter the second phase of your ministry.

While exhorting the audience to worship Jesus, Lucy reached with her left hand, palm closed, and placed it on Vicki’s right shoulder, opening her palm downward. Vicki’s eyes were closed, her arms lifted. Praising God, Lucy removed her hand from Vicki’s shoulder and placed it upon her forehead. As her hand lifted from the shoulder a small, white feather could be clearly seen to drop from Lucy’s hand onto Vicki’s shoulder. Lucy glanced at the feather but continued to praise God and walk elsewhere on the stage. Feathers began to drop where she walked. Suddenly, Lucy stopped and, in a surprised tone, exclaimed, “There’s feathers all over this place! Oh, my God! My God!”
Calling Billye Brim, another of the mistresses of ceremony, and Blaine Amburgy, the host for the affair, to join her, Lucy continued: A mighty visitation of the Holy Ghost! Hallelujah! Turn around [toward the audience) sister Vicki, very slowly; very slowly! HaJlelujah! On your shoulder! On your shoulder! The visitation of the Holy Ghost! My God! We're having a visitation of the Spirit of Almighty...you say somebody said, "I don't understand this; I don't believe this!" You know, the mind cannot receive the things of the Spirit! Sometimes the mind gets troubled! But Honey, glory to God! Get out of that natural mind and get into the supernatural! The supernatural power of God! [Turning to people picking up feathers]: Are you finding some over there? Hallelujah! There’s some over here! There’s some over there! You say, “What does that mean?” The Dove of the Holy Spirit is flying all over this place! My God! Worship Him!

Isn’t it typical that mystics exhort us to “get out of your minds.” But God’s Word tells us that He has given us a sound mind Dr. Craig Rumedy used his mind and acquired two of the feathers. He sent them to Bob Jennings, an ornithologist and a naturalist at Oxley Nature Park in Tulsa.

Mr. Jennings’ conclusions:
I) The feathers had a straight edge at callus (the point where they attach to the skin). This is not characteristic of a feather that has been plucked out or fallen out;
2) The feathers were pure white and have a size and shape described as semiplume-like, and are typical in size, shape, color, and appearance of down feathers;
3) The feathers had no cage marks and were therefore not from a caged bird;
4) The edges of the individual branches of the feathers were frayed in such a manner as to suggest the feathers were several weeks or months old or they had been handled “very roughly.”
5) The feathers are definitely not from a dove or pigeon:
6) They are quite typical of the underbelly feathers of a large waterfowl, eg., egret, crane, heron, or goose;
7) They could well be goose down feathers?

This following piece was written by a Judy about Lucy Rael in 2004 – http://www.mail-archive.com/truthtalk@mail.innglory.org/msg14544.html

“I don’t know whether you have heard of the Rock Church in Va. Beach but we used to go there and they had a lady called Lucy Rael come there who was supposed to have the stigmata (they said she had oil and blood on her hands in the place where the nails would be on Christ’s hands). We went to the service where she spoke and she had this supposed Word of Knowledge going on.

I don’t buy the stigmata thing for a start and our pastor’s wife who was there with us noticed that every name her gift called out was in that day’s Bulletin. We went to the pastor Giminez about it and they released her, later apologizing to their congregation publicly for allowing her to have the pulpit (which was right). This woman went on to other Churches, I would see her in Charisma and in one story she was said to have dove feathers coming out from under her sleeves (I believe this was in John Osteen’s Church in Houston TX). Eventually she was exposed as a fraud. Sad that it took as long as it did. I hope she has retired for good.”

  2. I’m really enjoying your site. Your analysis of the “end-times” views of most of the so-called prophets was absolutely excellent. I’m planning on linking to your site from mine, in a future article. Thanks for getting the word out about the deceptive signs and wonders movement.

  3. Funny thought. Why do all these stigmatics see blood/oil on there hands? Jesus could not and was not crucified through the hands because the weight of His body would have ripped His hands in half and He would have came off the cross. He was pierced through the wrists and the bones kept the arms in place. If this was through the hands the simple act of pulling Himself up to take a breathe would have ripped His hands off the nails.

    That in of itself should remove credibility. People need to read there history on Roman practices and crucifying

  5. Lucy and Sito Rael are personal friends of my parents. So I have had the opportunity to meet them on a personal level. They have always been very friendly people who seem genuine and/or sincere to their faith. Although I, for my own personal reasons, have very strong doubt when it comes to the God sent authenticity of Lucys stigmata. Of course, my personal opinion and/or that of anyone elses, really should NOT be what is important. Because in the end, it is GOD and GOD ALONE that, WE WILL ALL HAVE TO STAND BEFORE IN JUDGEMENT. And WE WILL ALL BE JUDGED ACCORDING TO OUR OWN WORKS. So instead of wasting our time and energy on judging our neighbor we should try to set a good example by PRAYING FOR him/her. Those of us who know God or at least claim to know God should at least TRY if nothing else to be of good character so that it isn’t so difficult for others to separate the good and TRUE people of God from the evil and so very many false that sadly stand before us and sit beside us in our churches.

  6. Rick Renner wrote a book about Lucy Rael (and others) called “Merchandising the Anointing.” I don’t agree with him 100% on everything, but overall it was an excellent book.

    It was published in 1990, but some of the things he says in chapter 13 sound like an exact description of what’s happening in Lakeland Florida at this time.

  8. Hi,
    these two verses clearly speak against let the darkness just have its way by being silent. Surely you risk criticizing the wrong one, but that’s no reason to do nothing.
    Besides, you can be sincere and yet deceived.

    KJG Ezekiel 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.
    KJG Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

  9. Before anything else, let me state that although I am a distant cousin of Lucy Rael and have the same last name I have always been wary of her antics from the beginning. Needless to say, I am sad that there are people who still fall for this type of fakery. May God have mercy on her soul.

  10. It seems from these stories the charismatic movement has been contaminated, false, or duped (whichever way you view it) so as much as I want it to end (no not the moving of the Holy Spirit, just this ‘movement’ with its ‘leaders’) it seems that if it hasnt died since 1988 when this woman was at the Mabee Center…..it still may not. I have left my prophetic church for its support of Lakeland and eventhough I have been gone since May,2008 I think they will just keep honoring Rick Joyner, Bob Jones, and all the other charismatic witches and warlocks……..just no more Todd cause even though they tolerate HERESY….u better have a good marriage (what a joke)

  11. I have a question. I totally understand why people would be apprehensive about this stuff and so was I. But what happened to me was this. We were having revival meetings at a church I was playing drums at. AFter the meeting we were talking about GOLD DUST etc and I was talking about how that would be neat to see if it was really GOD. The people I was talking to said well just look down at your hands and see if it is there. I looked and sure enough, my hands were glittering in the light. It looked like flecks were reflecting light.
    Now I am 34 years old, a male and I don’t wear glitter. I prefer not to get it on me because it takes a while to get off. But there was no mistaking that it was there. No one put anything in my hands either.
    How do you feel about when things like this happen to people who aren’t even really trying to pursue this kind of thing. I mean, I would love if GOD is doing ANYTHING, to be a part of it.
    Just curious at your thoughts on what happened to me.

  12. Another statement..sort of..lol.

    I have a dear friend of mine who went to a Matt Sorger meeting in New York. She was in the meeting when out of now where she found two diamonds, small in size, on the floor next to her. She was amazed and put in into her purse for later to show Matt what she had found. Well when she went up to show him the diamonds, or what she thought were diamonds, there wasn’t two anymore but one BIG diamond. It would appear that the two had merged into one.
    What are you thoughts on that. In both my experience and hers, we were just worshipping JESUS for his goodness and not seeking any of these signs, wonders or whatever. I mean, who wouldn’t pick up two diamonds sitting there. maybe ask if someone had lost them??? I could see that.
    Anyways, I don’t seek this stuff but I have had things happen to me while seeking JESUS. i am not a preacher in the sense of having a ministry or vocation, I just love the Lord and have had some wonderful, but different things happen in my Christian Walk.

  13. I had a similar incident only the fillings in my teeth turned silver(were the old black mercury type before) and one tooth turned gold. I thought it was Jesus, and no one touched me or my mouth! One of my sons said his fillings disappeared and became white. I am so questioning of this experience. If it was not Jesus then it was a lying sign and wonder, generated by a demonic power. I don’t know what to do about it other than repent and ask God to take away any claim the devil would have on me or my children as a result of this. I asked about this on another post and so far have not gotten any feedback. I’m have prayed about it,but would appreciate others insights,if they have any.

    Comment by DoubleGrace | September 3, 2008

  14. DoubleGrace: Just ’submit’ them/give the teeth and the experience to God, and renounce anything unholy and unclean that may have come upon you during the meeting and after. Ask His forgiveness (where applicable) for associating with any lying prophets/miracle workers or believing any doctrines of demons – and ask for cleansing and deliverence – and wisdom and discernnment for future. Ask that any delusion be burned away, any lying spirit cast off you, and that God put any manifested lying sign and wonder under his feet for His Glory.

  15. This comment was just left on your other post/question!

    DoubleGrace, I am the “former New Ager” referred to in the article above. My answer to your question “Do we ask God to take them away?” is yes. It is not from God. I can pretty much say that all the signs and wonders that are coming forth in the churchs today are not from God but are demonically orchestrated. I know many people who have been immersed in this stuff and are paying the price physically, emotionally and spiritually.But even standing on the sidelines and entering into a periodic “experience” or being a recipient of unbiblical beliefs and practices can be damaging. People who operate in occult powers can manifest lots of things including gems, gold substance, aromas etc. When there is a mixture in teaching God is not going to “follow with true signs and wonders.” Instead false signs and wonders will follow. Only God can open our eyes to the Truth and areas where we are decieved.

  17. So, let me ask all the experts this question. If you repent, ask GOD to remove the Ungodly manifestations etc…. and they aren’t removed.. say after a long period of time..

    Then is this of GOD???? Your logic makes no sense… What if someone had Cerebral Palsy and Got HEALED?? No longer had CP, would you ask GOD to put it back on you??? Of course not…

    Comment by Jason | September 8, 2008

  18. Double Grace,, If you are submitted to JESUS and your life is “hid in Christ” why worry about something wonderful happening to you. Do you worship satan? No, are you seeking JESUS with your whole being, loving GOD and People, Probably so, so why are you worried about a manifestation???

    Again, you people on this board are not making any sense whatsoever to me.

    You are the experts, so if these are FALSE manifestations happening to people like Double Grace and Myself… Then WHERE ARE THE REAL MANIFESTATIONS?????

    If I am wearing a fake rolex watch..you can tell because you compare it to a REAL ROLEX.If these signs and wonders are fake…WHERE ARE THE REAL ONES…

    Jesus said in MARK..These signs shall follow those who believe..etc….

    Comment by Jason | September 8, 2008

  19. Jason – so all signs and manifestations that occcur in a “Christian” meeting run by certified false prophets must be of God?!!!!!!!!! And you say we were illogical (using a straw man argument distorting what we are actually saying)?

    If what you say is true, then why did the apostles say to test the spirits and the manifestations?

    As to real signs, you actually testify against Todd Bentley et al. The real signs are the lame leaping like a dear, the blind seeing, the deaf hearing and the true gospel being preached as captives are released by the word and power of God… not folk twitching on the carpet and going home dissappointed after listening to nonsense stories.

  21. Jason, I have personally experienced some mind blowing signs and wonders, which is one reason this phony bologna pales in comparison as far as I’m concerned, but more importantly it just doesn’t line up with scripture. Pray for discernment. Don’t seek after signs and wonders. In fact, pray for all kinds of things, but ultimately it’s up to God.

  22. I realised many years ago that the churches were heading into another “Dark Age”. What we are seeing today IS a “revival”, however it is not a revival of Holiness and zeal for God and His Word. What we are witnessing is a revival of superstition, charlatanism and paganism that entered the churches through the influence of the Bishops of Rome and, what would become, the Apostolic Church of Rome.

    The New Mystics and New Breed Apostolics rarely cite scripture to back up any of these manifestations, what they do cite ae the writings of Catholic mystics and Catolic Church History.

    We are even seeing people being persuaded to receive the idea of the Transubstantiation of the Bread and Wine of the “Last Supper”.

    People who do not abide in the doctrine of Christ are easily misled. There is a spiritual naivety which dominates their lives. I am reminded of an incident that happened to my wife and I back in the 1980’s. At an open air outreach led by a local church was a woman, a near neighbour of ours. We knew that this woman was a practicing clairvoyant and professional fortune teller. We pointed this out to one of the sisters from the church. Her reply was very telling, “She CAN’T be, she comes to our church!”

    People have the mistaken idea that discernment is some kind of “sixth sense”, it isn’t. Discernment is something that has to be developed through correct application of the Word of God.

    Hbr 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

    Wake up people! The Great Apostasy that Paull warned us of is upon us!

    2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except **there come a falling away first**, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

    I was there and heard her preach. She is beautiful and kind. She has a great anointing to preach.
    God is real in her meetings.
    I remember she prayed for me and told me something only God and I knew.

    Maybe her husband is from the tribe of Judah and maybe Lucy is too. There is another Hispanic woman who has stigmata and on Good Friday she bleeds in the same places the Lord did.
    I heard Lucy call out people’s addresses when she was ministering.
    The names were not on the church bulletin board since many of the people in the packed out service were not members of the church.
    They had never been there before.
    So whoever speaks against Lucy is wrong about her.
    She fakes nothing. I was there and God was there and it was real real real.

  28. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your opinions about Sister Lucy Rael and the alleged fraud. I would like to respectfully offer a different persepective if I may. In December of 2008 I had the honor of ministering with Lucy in a women’s conference in Brasil. I personally know the pastors that hosted the event. I stayed in the same house Lucy stayed in and had time to speak with her and get to know her, not just in the ministry, but also in the natural. I found a humble servant of God with no desire to shine or be in any kind of spotlight. I witnessed signs and wonders through her ministry as she had absolutely no way of knowing people or people’s names… there were no written programs of any sort. As she prayed for a gentleman I saw her fill his shirt with blood…Later I took pictures of her hand that showed the gold dust flowing out of the palm of her hand. How can you fake that?? How can you fake the hours she spends in God;s presence in prayer…usually staring at or around 3am??
    I am in no way trying to open the door to any type of hostility or anything of the sort. I was simply there.. I saw how her hair would being to get glittery as the gold dust started pour out… Believe me, I too am a skeptic, not easily swayed by these things… But to me, Lucy Rael is the real deal… she loves the Lord and has devoted most of her adult life to God’s service even overcoming illnesses such as cancer, which the Lord healed over 18 years ago!!
    Before you jump in and crucify..I would suggest to take the time and verify…By getting to know her, the person!!
    May the Lord bless you!!

    I also saw the blood and heard her testimony!
    However,there were 2 ladies in my church who used to give her gifts (perfumes and beauty stuff).
    Guess who were always getting words of Knowledge almost every night?
    She even invited one of them to go to her daughter’s wedding even though she only knew her because of the gifts!
    Have You ever heard of Sylvania Machado from Brazil?

  31. This is for every skeptic, scoffer and anyone who may have been hurt by “the church” in the past: What I don’t understand is why you would think that something God would do during a service where pure, unadulterated worship is given unto HIM that it would be “demonic”? I think you must have forgotten Jesus’ very own words where HE himself was accused of being in league with the devil, Lucifer, Satan “our adversary”. Didn’t he say to the Pharisee’s and Religious Scholars of his day that if he was using demons to cast out demons, wouldn’t that mean that Satan was working against Satan? Didn’t Jesus, our Lord and Savior who stripped himself of all honor and glory to become flesh (our perfect sacrificial Lamb for the atonement of our sins) state that a “house divided against itself can not stand”? Didn’t he call these same so-called Pharisees and Religious Scholars of his time “white washed”? Dead rot under their pretentious and pious demeanors? Those who found that keeping the law (and only those parts of the Law of Moses that they thought were the utmost important) was more important than seeing the coming of the Kingdom of God? Didn’t the Jews miss the coming of their Messiah because they were looking for an earthly King, not a King to remove all their iniquities, save their souls and bring them in right standing before God?

    No, these men were too concerned with what was going on with Jesus, all his “miracles, signs and wonders”. Didn’t Jesus say he was coming back for a Church that was without spot or blemish? Didn’t Jesus give us the Great Commission and All His Authority AS OURS THEN, NOW and FOREVER before he ascended into heaven? Didn’t he give us a GREATER AUTHORITY than his so we could cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead, heal the blind, and set the captives free?

    Why do some Christians NOT understand that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are ONE and the SAME and they are the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER! God changes not, nor does his word fade or pass away…So, why on earth would anyone think that what Jesus said would fade away and NOT be for today? Have you NOT read, do you NOT know the GOD we serve? Do we not serve a MIRACLE working God? Did Moses deliver 10 plagues upon the Egyptians with the Power and Might of God Almighty? Didn’t God harden Pharaoh’s heart ten times, just so God could proclaim his Glory and Power and Might to all the nations of the Earth, and that Whom God has chosen God Blesses? Didn’t God want to strike fear in the hearts of the nations? YES…Then even after the Passover, the other nine plagues where the Israelites were not even harmed but spared, didn’t they even complain even then when the Egyptians pursued them that Moses should have left them in Egypt (under harsh and cruel slave labor – in which they cried out to the Lord to save them from this life). Not only did they have all the amazing Demonstrations of God’s mighty power during the plagues, but God and His Angel led the Israelites by Day by a Cloud and a Pillar of Fire at night…Still…This wasn’t even enough.

    There were hard hearted skeptics then, and there are hard-hearted skeptics now…Human nature doesn’t change, only the time and seasons. Just like Solomon says, there is nothing new under the sun…

    So, I believe that it is absolutely wrong to state that if God has allowed someone to manifest gold fillings in place of rotten black ones, this is a BLESSING…How can something that is “better or good” be a demonic manifestation? No…That is absurd. A diamond that has morphed from two smaller ones into one large one that is yet another blessing from God…”I shall pour out a blessing that you can not contain, pressed down, shaken together, pouring over, men unto your bosom.” God states emphatically over and over in the Old Covenant and the even Better New Testament, that GOD is in fact the God of Blessings. God is Light and Love, there is NO DARKNESS in God.

    Now, let’s say you were praising Satan, glorifying yourself, patting yourself on the back, gloating over how you so masterfully connived and stole money or conned people to get rich…Then, YES, this could be considered a DEMONIC presence. If you have fear, doubt, worry, etc…everything that God repeats to us OVER and OVER again NOT to do, “fear NOT”, “I am with you”, “Be of Courage”, “Worship the Lord with ALL you HEART, ALL YOUR SOUL and ALL YOU MIGHT”, “Search my Heart Oh Lord”. If you are worshipping God, and he blesses you…How can you slap your Father in the face and accuse him of being in league with the devil.

    God is a loving and kind God, slow to anger, abundant in patience, abounding in Mercy. If he wasn’t he would all get what we deserved…We would have been incinerated, blasted by God’s Holy Anger and sent straight to Hell.

    Just praise God, thank him…Just remember that we should never compromise God for Glory…then we can know it is from God. Also, do you have peace, do you speak in the “Spirit”? Pray, seek God, he always answers.
