Why did Todd Bentley let Paul Cain lie to millions?
Prophet Paul Cain came to the Lakeland Healing Revival/Florida Outpouring and gave his support to Todd Bentley recently. More than that, Paul Cain crowned Todd Bentley the new Elijah, and spoke of Todd Bentley fulfilling his Joel’s Army prophecies of stadiums filled with people doing amazing signs and wonders and ushering in a great end time harvest.
I wrote something about Paul Cain and Bentley here: http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/05/04/paul-cain-to-appear-with-todd-bentley-at-tiger-town-joker-marchant-stadium/ and also here: http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/05/03/a-prophetic-vision-of-prophet-paul-cain/
Now, even putting aside all the previous articles on this site (and many places elsewhere) raising huge red flags about Todd Bentley and his ministry http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/category/todd-bentley-fresh-fire/, about Paul Cain, Bob Jones, others of the Kansas City Prophets, Patricia King, Latter Rain etc. etc. (you can navigate by the far right categories tab) – including some real obvious lies that are rife through this movement - there occured another major lie that nobody can deny. It really makes one question both these ‘Spirit filled’ ministers’ integrity. While many in today’s church are closing their eyes to Todd Bentley’s obvious faults and heresie, and keep making excuses and justifications for him, how on earth can they justify what follows?
Paul Cain said “I’ve been a celibate all my life”. Yet he is famed for being ‘outed’ as a homosexual, and lying about it for a long time – even when outed, instead claiming he was being framed by his accusers! – before eventually confessing to it and heavy alcohol abuse. He is noted for having been an alcoholic to the extent he was slurred and incoherent when ministering (some say he appeared slurred on stage at Lakeland so perhaps he is not restored). His fall from ministry, and its reasons, is well known. There is no doubt at all that Todd Bentley knew about it. Yet not only did Todd Bentley let Paul Cain lie, he let him lie while prophesying, he let him lie to potentially millions, he let him lie uncorrected or unrebuked. An honest minister with integrity could have said something like this afterwards: ‘Paul did fall, but he was forgiven by God, and has been restored.’ Yet because Todd Bentley wanted the acclaim (he flew Paul Caul in to hype his revival up and do some back-slapping), he let Paul Cain go unrebuked.
“He (Paul Cain) called a young man, one of Bentley’s interns front and center, and prophesied over him. When he opened his moth to speak over this man he lied before God, the thousands there and the millions watching on TV. He told how he had vowed to live a celibate lifestyle and had done so for all these years. …”
This revival has been at the expense of truth on many different levels. Here is yet another example of it.

Perhaps “the truth is not in them [him].”
todd im your greatest fan i wish i could see u theres so much things i’ve heard about u i luv u
Hi
Todd Bentley is doing a whole lot better than most folk.
Ok maybe not everyones perfect-who are we to judge.
I am just so glad that my friend who was blind can now see and this is because of God working through Todd Bentley. There have been so many positive healings from Todd’s meetings but people will always pick out the negative.
We should stop attacking and judging and just work on our personal relationship with God.
Big Blessings
Jo
Todd did not allow Paul Cain to come back to the podium after that. He was honoring him for the vision he caried. The hope was that Paul would have been resotored. He is not. Rick Joyner of Morning Star Ministries has posted this in a Special Bulletin section from their web site.
I do pray for Paul, but he is not alowed to minister through Fresh Fire or Morning Star now.
From watching the Utube it appears that he seems to really care, but allowing this Paul Cain to preach, when he hasn’t made it right, disqualifys both of them to even be allowed to preach, and what about the out of the body experiance he is talking about?? And doesn’t anyone who is a preacher need to be accountable and then, what about the tatoos after this video? Recently I have met people who tell me they are good people, and they really believe they are good, but they live in sin, adultry, fornication, lasciviousness, and yet they claim they are good people. Perhaps this Bentley really believes himself that he is really is doing Gods work. That is where the deception is, The New Testement teachings call for a life of righteousness in the Lord’s strength, a call for leaders to live right and be accountable, so that people will be able to trust, grow and be nurtured in the Lord. The Local Authorities really need to do an investigation especially since Paul Cain showed up. God bless and may the Truth be revealed, and the Lord be Glorified. God is a Holy God and will not violate his integrity. He is the Spirit of Truth. God bless
Steve:
So Rick Joyner NOW claims (because of the hoo hah) that Todd Bentley would not let Paul Cain take back the platform because he lied? So very easy to say that, when all the back slapping and all that was to be said by Paul Cain about Todd Bentley and the revival has already been said, isn’t it? – and when there has been a public outcry after the fact, to try to cover your tracks, isn’t it? How do we even know he was supposed to come ‘back’ on the platform anyway?
Furthermore, even if the above is true, the fact is, these public lies were not publically retracted – as they should have been immediately at the time. At best they were covered up. Unless you happen to know these were lies, you would be none the wiser today. That’s still a whopping big lie and Todd Bentley still allowed it. It lacks integrity.
“It is the truth concerning JESUS that inspires all prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).
Those inspired to speak or proclaim something by the Holy Spirit should be helping
to direct our attention onto Christ and away from everything that distracts us.
The prophetic voice should rise up like a trumpet and bring clarity and direction
out of confusion and misunderstanding. It is not just truth stated in an inspirational way,
it is the truth concerning JESUS spoken by those who know Him and can lead others to Him.
But of all things, the prophetic ministry today does more to distract us from Jesus than to
tell us the truth concerning Jesus. In fact, it is difficult to find Jesus at all in most of what is touted today as “prophetic”.
The prophetic word is given to point us to Jesus. Everything the Holy Spirit would speak, reveal, teach,
and show us is towards this same end, which is CHRIST. We do not need to mull over every dream, vision, word, or prophecy,
trying to exegete its hidden meaning, struggling to extract some spiritual significance where none exists.
If what we see and hear does not point us to Jesus then it is not prophetic and should be discarded.
This simple test will keep us from distraction.
Apostles must point people to Christ. Prophets must point people to Christ. Evangelists must point people to Christ.
Pastors and teachers must point people to Christ. Otherwise they are not fulfilling the purpose for which God placed
them in the Church to begin with. Apostolic ministry is not an end unto itself, but is a means to an end. Prophetic
ministry is not an end unto itself, but is a means to an end. Evangelistic ministry is not an end unto itself, but is a means
to an end. Pastoral and teaching ministries are not ends unto themselves, but are a means to an end. What is the end?
What is the purpose? What does it all lead to? It leads to “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13b). The fullness of Christ, the full-knowledge of Him – this is God’s Goal and His Ultimate Intention.
I came to the Lord in the midst of the Charismatic movement. The emphasis was on Spirit-filled living,
restoring spiritual gifts, the power of God, and so forth. We find no fault with walking in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
But what is the purpose of all this fullness? Why tongues, and prophetic words, and other spiritual gifts?
Why the manifest power of God? All of these things are given us by the Lord to draw us deeper into Himself; to repeat,
they are means to an End, but they are not the end, for the End, the Purpose, and the Reason for all things is Christ.
“When He, the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all Truth [Christ]: for He shall not speak of Himself…
He will glorify Me, for He will receive from Me, and will reveal it to you” (John 16:13,14ff). All the gifts, all the power,
all the counsel, everything pertaining to the Holy Spirit has the goal of bringing us into a more complete knowing of Jesus Christ.
Everything must be in harmony with this.
But just see how the experience of being “filled” or “baptized” or “anointed” or “slain in the Spirit” has replaced Christ!
What is the result? Excess, error, and a falling away into the flesh. Today we see only a shadow of what we once saw.
How many “Full-Gospel” believers are still living off of the glory that they saw twenty-five years ago! They are still looking
for an experience, but if God gives it to them, it is a step backwards. They have not grown one bit; they are simply coasting
on the energy of what God was doing twenty or thirty years ago.
It is time for us to leave elementary school and go on to maturity. “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a
child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man I put away childish things” (I Corinthians 13:11). The Lord has a high
calling for us, and we are called to “go on to maturity” (Hebrews 6:1ff). The spiritual life begins in Christ, is sustained by
Christ, and leads us to Christ. We may begin by having some profound spiritual experiences, but maturity is certainly not
achieved through them.
Wow! I am amazed at how many huge boulders are being thrown at this Revival. It takes a number of people to pick up boulders this size and throw them. Have you been there??? Take all ” Dirty Laundry” out of the picture and God is moving among His People. Let’s look at and air all your dirty laundry and see how ” Worthy ” you are to be the Holy Spirit over the services. Wow, the Holy Spirit Convicts, Satan, points his finger through Condemnation! You didn’t think they said these same things about the ex murderer Apostle Paul. I think all of the finger pointers and the mockers and judgers better look at what happened to David’s wife Michael when she mocked King David for being transparent in worship before his people.
She was barren the rest of her life. She produced no fruit. What about you???
Is it any wonder the World is so “Lost” when “YOU” think “YOU” are so PRO- “Found”!! WOW! and BAM!!!
Those of us that have been spirit filled and speak with other tongues know and can discern the things of God. Todd Bentley is just like you and I, we have to filter ALL things through the flesh. NO ONE will ever “get it right”, 100% of the time. I have watched this healing outpouring in Lakeland, Fla. and I have felt the spirit of God within me stir through the worship and the faith of the people to recieve from GOD, not Todd. Todd has said many times that “he couldn’t make this up”, so true. We need to take our eyes off of man and look at what GOD is doing. If we look at man and what he is doing he will always fail us and we will miss what GOD is doing.
Ruby,
Todd can’t make it up…he’s right about that but Satan sure can.
Satan and his demons have been around for centuries. They know all the tricks to pull on the sheep.
Just as people can pretend to be genuine, sweet, nice and have wicked hearts, so can Satan perform signs and wonders through people that are open to it.
Satan could probably make Todd Bentley shoot fireworks out his hand while crowing like a rooster and everybody would just jump at how awesome the power of God was for that making that happen to Todd. Gotta rush out for that annointing. “Excuse me, can I have the Crow like a rooster firework annointing” PRETTY PLEASE!
Sure Todd can make it up, Servant. Hype people up and lie just like all the other hucksters do, but add some dodgy manifestations and even dodgier prophets into the equation. Can’t you see the hype?
Yea, you’re absolutely right he can make it up on his own. I should have lingered on that statement a little longer. I was was stating that even further than theatrics…satan can do a bang up job in the whole signs and wonders category as well.
Hey, if David Copperfield can do it…so can these guys right.
Oh, I definitely see the hype!
That’s why it’s so hard to understand why others don’t.
Maybe it might be well to consider “feeling the presence of God” at meetings as described above. If we see exciting “miracles” going on, it can cause a release of “feel good” endorphines in our brain, and that can easily be mistaken for feeling the presence of God. satan is the master of the counterfeit…DavWms
I have attended the services being held in Lakeland and can tell you that I have witnessed the heart of Todd Bentley directly. I know his manner is unorthodox and he certainly can put off those of us from more conservative streams of the Body but I have been satisfied that he desires for this to be a move of God and not of man.
The Lord Jesus Christ’s name is declared and is lifted up. Satan has no ability to do that – as Jesus taught that no kingdom that fights within itself can stand. I’ve seen Todd submit to the apostolic authority that God has placed over these meetings. I’ve seen the worship team care less about the opinions of man than the opinions of God. I’ve seen Parkinsons sufferers stop shaking as soon as they get on stage, and I’ve seen others without Parkinson shake from the power of the Holy Spirit.
Please watch the services on God TV or ustream.com and really seek the Lord’s discernment before you cavalierly dismiss what’s happening in Florida. Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.
hello friends..
some of you who are judging the move of God and other minister, it sounds like slander.. and talking behind the back.. if you see a problem.. Jesus teaches us to go to the person and talk about it.
by the way.. read Matthew 12:22-37
Todd cannot be healing sickness and casting out demons by power of Satan and his tricks… neither can he be claiming Jesus is Lord without the Holy SPirit (1 corinthians 12:3) and 1 John 4:2…
Guys, miracles and power to heal comes from God.. and not from Satan.. Satan is the one that wants us dead, sick, miserable, and angry and bitter through our sins and rebellion.
Friends.. could our hearts be tender towards the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit?
1 corinthians 2:4 and 1 thessalonians 1:5
just cuz we have not cruicified our flesh and lived in utter and total surrender and obedience to Jesus like Todd has and thus have not received great power from God.. doesn’t mean we should just rant about it…
how about our lives? are we perfect? why don’t we first confess our own sins before judging the multitudes .. the multitudes that we don’t even know personally.
Matthew 9:34 records how the Pharisees claimed that Jesus was driving out demons by the power of the prince of demons and Matthew 12:24 says that the Pharisees said,”It is only by Beelzebub, [ Greek Beezeboul or Beelzeboul; also in verse 27] the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”
It seems to me that some people are responding to the outpouring in Lakeland just like the Pharisees did in Jesus’ time. So I must remind you what Jesus said about them. Matthew 16:11 and 12 records the following:”How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
And finally Matthew 12:34 is the warning to those of you who are speaking out against the works of God: You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
Be very careful about what you are judging as not of God because He will use the foolish things to confound the wise, or those who think they are wise.
God specialises in using failures for His purposes and to show His Glory, have a look in your Bible!
Renee Helms & Mike: Way to go!!! The word is sharper than a two edged sword Praise God. Have you ever wondered why Jesus spent so much time showing us the truth about the Pharisees and Sadducees? Could it be He knew we would deal with the same type of people in our days? He is so awesome and there are many being confound even now in the name of Jesus.
Have any of you done research on what a Pharisee and Sadducee is, what their beliefs were and why Jesus warned against them?
Try that first before you call people names who are trying to warn you of danger.
hOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO LIVE THRU THIS IN THE CHURCH?
tODD CALLED OUT ABOUT A HUNDRED PLUS HEALINGS THE OTHER NIGHT, CANCER, TUMERS BLOOD DISEASES. WILL ANYBODY VERIFY THESE CLAIMS? I DOUBT IT. iF THIS IS REAL AND i WAS tODD, I WOULD GET ALL OF THESE HEALINGS DOCUMENTED, BECAUSE YOU KNOW IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE NEWS NETWORKS WILL DO SHOWS INTERVIEWING PEOPLE STAING THAT THIS IS A SHAM. IF ITS REAL THEN PROVE IT. I WILL BE WAITING, PROBABLY FOREVER
Steve said:
>Furthermore, even if the above is true, the fact is, these public lies were not publically retracted .
Well, they “retracted” the video archive on ustream!
Dave – Amen! And a couple of days ago I heard him say that at least two people have been raised from the dead because of the Lakeland “outpouring”. I think we would all agree that God certainly has the power to raise someone from the dead, so if this really happened, wouldn’t some independent confirmation go along way in erasing doubt? What a testimony that would be to the power of God! As Dave said, I’ll be waiting…
I went to the Outpouring for 3 days. I was there the night Paul Cain spoke. I didnt know who he was, but Todd said all that people spoke against him in the past wasnt true. And that God was going to vindicate him that night with 215 countries watching worldwide. Tonight Bob Jones is on prophesying. A man who supposedly had girls strip in his office. What a mess of a meeting.
I thought everything was on the up and up…but now I wonder.
And what about this angel Emma!!
Eeeny meeny miny moe….Is it real…is it false.
When we were there, we loved it. But this whole prophet thing is strange…blogger…keep up the good work. Very thought provoking.
One last thought….there were people from China at the revival all nights. It was prophysied that this revival would go to China. So when I heard of the earthquake and was crying in front of my tv to see that tradgedy, I thought well tonight when those thousand meet in Florida they will surely remember them in prayer. I watched for a while but mostly they are just letting Bob Jones do his thing.
Servant,
Re post #19 above:
Exactly!
I thought of the movie field of dreams, a few years ago, and “Shoeless Joe,”, a famous ball player who threw the world series, cheated, for cash, in the 1929 world series.
There was a famous headline around the nation, “SAY IT AIN’T SO, JOE.”……..
Paul Cain was caught “RED” handed , at Kansas city IHOP, drunken, while trying to solicit some of the young men there for sex[at least in a lewd manner].
His confession of the sin of homosexuality and folowing restoration restoration process is an international reality and fact, as Joyner says it is.
His evident endorsement of Bentley is akin to Baalim’s betrayal to me, and to say with a strait face, that he has always been celibate, and “allegations” have been thrown at him, is beyond distortion. Has he lost his mind? Does he actually believe that these painful episodes never occured? Does he believe that thousands of people have actually forgotten his own confession of these exact sins?
I have respected Paul Cain possibly above any. I have reproved him too, through letter, in personal matters. I am stunned. I have been praying for my brothers life for many years, that Satan would not devour him, and the Lord would show mercy. At this moment, I am sick.
Say it ain’t so, PAUL………..Tom Watkins
If any lover of our Lord Jesus Christ wants to know if most of the articles on this website are written in the Spirit of truth, please only just look at all the ministers and ministries they blast and accuse (to the left of the posts in the hundreds of numbers)to see their heart. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. No one is perfect. Yes, some of these ministers are still living in sin, but for the most part, most of these ministers are living for Jesus.
good laugh Amy. Perhaps it’s time for you to move on.
I personally get tired of hearing the limp-wristed attitude that we are not to judge. One of the most important things we are to do is judge and discern, and not by how seemingly nice a person is or how good their motives but by the black and white scriptures and othe know things like blatant witchcraft tattoos, homosexuality, drunkenness, greed, etc. I want to puke when someone insists I have no right to judge because I don’t personally know the person. Did Peter personally have to know Simon the Sorcerer? No, all he needed to know is he was violating the Scriptures. Todd teaches you can buy the gift of God with money. He is condemning the people to destruction in the name of his personal greed. The sooner Todd is removed from the body of christ the less destruction there will be. And that’s my judgement based on the Bible, not on his motives and moods or if he seems like a nice guy or not. And what about all those satanic tattoos hes gotten just recently. Seriously, just because a few healings are happening you are willing to overlook all that? Why won’t you fall for the antichrist then, actually you have fallen for his spirit that has come literally as an angel of light. It baffles me anyone supports this guy when there is so much on the net about him. Are people just willingly having a seared conscience?
Ryan (from Cleveland Ohio) – what an excellent post. Thank you brother and may God bless you with even more of His wisdom from above.
God bless
Danni
Is anyone hearing directly from the Lord about this? Is anyone actually prophesying about Todd and what he is up to? Are there any public prophesies about Paul Cain and him being allowed to affect so many while still in such sin?
Joie: yes, there are posts on this blog on this matter,
Old Story
http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/orrel19.html
Looks like somebody is trying to remove the speck from Todd’s and Paul’s eye while ignoring the plank in their own.
Daniel,
You would be doing the same thing then.
For a good read on this and other subjects on the charismatic check out, “A Step Into Deliverance” by T. Pugh. It is a riveting autobiography about a pastor’s struggle with the spirit of Jezebel.
God keeps speaking to me about not lifting up our own gifts and lifting up the gifts of those who are not the ones everyone wants to look at.
From the website of Paul Cain (now deleted and denied)
A Letter of Confession
I must apologize to the body of Christ for my recent conduct. I want to correct the denials that I made earlier in reference to charges brought against me.
I acknowledge the following: 1. I have struggled in two particular areas, homosexuality and alcoholism, for an extended period of time. 2. I apologize for denying these matters of truth, rather than readily admitting them. I especially apologize to Rick Joyner, Jack Deere, and Mike Bickle for my misunderstanding of their attempt to discipline me according to Matthew 18. I have come to appreciate their loving intent for me in this process. 3. I am ashamed of what I have done to hurt those close to me and the pain I have caused those who have believed in my ministry. Particularly, if I have hurt anyone by my actions of emotional or sexual misconduct, I am very sorry. I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I have submitted to a team of leaders in the body of Christ who are supervising every aspect of my restoration. This team is headed by Larry J. Alberts (Fathers and Families Together, Minneapolis, MN) and Dr. Daniel J. Kim (Destiny Training International, El Monte, CA). Larry has considerable experience in restoration ministry and has been requested by leaders such as John Wimber, Rick Joyner, and Francis Frangipane to help restore highly significant ministers in the body of Christ. Daniel directs a training center which emphasizes biblical spirituality and prophetic reformation. I have submitted to Larry and Daniel to develop an appropriate program, involving professional treatments, so that I may walk in moral purity, spiritual and physical health, and wholeness of life.
With hope in Christ, Paul Cain
Rick Joyner is antichrist. He denieth the father and the Son by stating that Jesus was and is Spirit, who only took the form of a man for a short time.
This denies that Christ is forever God-Man and confuses the difference between God the Father who is all Spirit forever and God the Son, who took human nature upon Himself. Forever. Not just for a short stint on earth, like some Hollywood possession movie, Mr. Joyner.
Joyner and C Peter Wagner and Bill Hamon are actually the most dangerous of all these men. Bentley, Cain and Bob jones will be rotated out as their Baal spirits are revealed. Joyner is the real False Prophet. No wonder he didn’t want to say what he knows: Jones and Cain molested people while they were prophesying over them… this is Jezebel, male Jezebels. Joyner let them off saying “it was just a spirit of lust.” Or “it was just my gay tendencies”
No it wasn’t. Watch out for Joyner, his Final Quest is actually describing the End Times Apostate Church. This is mystery Babylon… it is all coming out of America, folks.
First of all, let me say this, I cannot understand the naivete of individuals stating that this “revival” is of God. Where is the transformation that comes in revival? Where are, not only the changed individuals, but the changed churches and changed cities and towns? Churches have been changed by this – torn to pieces as people argue back and forth. You simply cannot state that something is God because it gives you the warm fuzzies on the inside, or it “witnesses” with your spirit. Also, speaking in tongues does not mean you cannot be deceived!
On the flip side, I would strongly caution people against saying such things as this, posted by AriseMyLove:
Jones and Cain molested people while they were prophesying over them… this is Jezebel, male Jezebels. Joyner let them off saying “it was just a spirit of lust.” Or “it was just my gay tendencies”. If this is not documented, and is something you heard about from someone who heard about it, please refrain from making such accusations, as it only brings more damage. I do not agree with Jones’ or Paul Cain, but I would be very careful about accusing them of molesting people while they prophesied over them, unless you have supporting evidence.
what a hypocrisy “odd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff” instead to say “adultery”
August 15, 2008 From the Board of Directors http://freshfire.ca/
We wish to thank all of our friends and partners for the overwhelming flood of support and compassion we have received as a ministry on behalf of Todd and Shonnah Bentley. The many phone calls and emails of concern from people who genuinely love the Bentleys and Fresh Fire Ministries have been a great encouragement to all of us here during these past few days. In particular, the rallying of support and prayer for Todd and Shonnah by prominent leaders within the Body of Christ has been a beautiful indicator of the maturity and grace the Lord is bringing to his Bride.
We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. In light of this new information and in consultation with his leaders and advisors, Todd Bentley has agreed to step down from his position on the Board of Directors and to refrain from all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life.
Okay then, I ask again, (and please give links if available), with all of these prophets about, is anyone hearing from God about this? Has anyone heard, “hey prophet, go rebuke Todd because I love him and want him to be okay”. Anything like, specifics about what he has been up to, about the icky stuff that is about to come out, and about all the “big” men in ministry who “owned him” in this and professed and prophesied that he would be the next…thing?
Can you imagine the pressure and lonesomeness of his wife?, all that she has endured in trying to be okay with everything “for the people”. My goodness, there is one hurting sister out there I am sure. Can you take a sec if you are reading this to pray for her to be comforted and encouraged. She must be wondering where in the world God is.
You assume much – because we criticise does not mean we do not care or do not pray. In fact we care more than then ones who are denying this and covering up, or seeking to promote their own agendas in this while pretending to be loving and the heroes.
And read this site which has many people hearing from God and details much of what these guys have been up to for years. Oh yeah and the Bible too which reveals what these folk are!
And where is the repentence Joie by Todd and Shonnah – both whom were in false ministry for years? But what about all the ‘people left wondering where God is’ that they lied to and cheated?
ps how do you know she is a sister? (not that it would alter how much I care BUT… )
Todd is NOT a brother – he is false brethren as his father is the father of lies.
Wait , the question was asked “why-did-todd-bentley-let-paul-cain-lie-to-millions” ? My question is , why did everybody lie to everybody and about everybody and for everybody ? Confusion.
Hey “endtimespropheticwords” guy who keeps commenting after I do, are you the guy who writes these articles? I have a few questions for you. Obviously I am not adept in the bloggesphere
so give me some grace here, but do you believe that God speaks prophetically to the church today? I suppose I could go through and read your posts but I get lost in the extra.
Let me apologize as well for coming a crossed as if I thought you all weren’t praying for Todd’s wife. That didn’t even cross my mind. I was simply feeling bad for her and asking for prayer. Great that you already are.
In regards to repentance, repentance seems like such an understatement to me. I think that we, as the entire Body of Christ, need a wake up call on how to do all of this. How do we hold each other accountable, for sin, for bad doctrine, for exaggerating the things of God, but also for holding back, for knowing and not confronting, for endorsing without discernment, for leading without purity, and so on and so on. I keep hearing this deep need for raising the standard of holiness, especially for the church in the U.S. but really everywhere. I’m afraid that we are so far gone the starting place has escaped us.
God keeps saying that it’s the prophets who begin.
Somehow we need Jesus as our head. But how?
Here: Let me answer my own question: obedience.
Joie – yes I do believe that God still speaks prophetically today.
Thanks. I have a lot of, processing to do and I suppose a blog is not the best place. Thanks for all your work here. I am trying to gather some information regarding dates and who has said what and your blog has been very helpful.
“…Bentley, Cain and Bob jones will be rotated out as their Baal spirits are revealed…”

It is becoming increasingly important for me to remember that most on this site saw the fall of Todd Bentley waaay before it came in early August.
Are you aware of Godstock? It is a conference in Iowa where Paul Cain was speaking? He was listed with this bio. Thoughts? Or have I missed it again and you have already written about this?
Paul Cain
Paul Cain has been in the ministry for over 60 years, and has led a life marked by the supernatural. While still in his mothers womb, an angel appeared to his mother with a message from the Lord: “The fruit of your womb is a male child. Name him Troas Paul. He will preach the gospel as the Apostle Paul of old…. and he will prophesy to Kings and Presidents.” All of this came to pass exactly as it was told, and is continuing to unfold even now…… At the age of 17, Paul began to hold citywide salvation and healing campaigns in tents, civic auditoriums and churches where supernatural and documented healings took place. He became one of many prominent preachers in a move of the Spirit known as the “Healing Revival” which lasted from 1947 to 1958. During the great healing revival, Paul’s ministry reached international proportions. In 1954, his manager purchased the world’s largest gospel tent from Jack Coe, having a capacity to hold 8,000 people. Paul toured the country, filling it with thousands wherever he went.
In the 1950’s, Paul’s meetings in Switzerland and Germany were attended by more than 30,000 people each night. There were many salvations and healing miracles as the Lord confirmed His word with signs and wonders. Paul Cain’s meetings were often punctuated by his calling out several people from the audience and giving very accurate and detailed information about their lives, always with the intention of revealing the love of God.
During those days, the Lord began to speak to Paul about the excesses of the healing-revival movement. Paul became greatly dismayed at the hype and greed that he saw in the ministry arena. By 1958, Paul had become totally disheartened. At age 29, he was disillusioned and burned out. In the midst of Paul’s despair and repentance, God told him that if he kept himself from corruption and remained content with living a humble life marked by Scripture study and prayer, one day he would be allowed to stand before a new breed of men and women leaders. These would be marked by simplicity, purity and remarkable manifestations of power. Paul’s obedience to God would result in him retreating from public ministry for some 25 years… a true desert experience. Paul calls these his “almost silent” years
Though he was not at the forefront during this time, he was never totally out of the ministry. Paul re-emerged in 1986 to begin a new phase of supernatural healing and prophetic ministry. He has since traveled around the world, ministering to many national and international leaders – kings, presidents, senators, and spiritual leaders as well. (During the Clinton administration Paul was sent to Iraq to meet with Saddam Hussein.)
Today, Paul Cain is acknowledged as one of the most prominent leadership figures in the Christian “prophetic” movement, and is known as a spiritual father to thousands. He continues to move in the supernatural, and to share about the forgiveness, love, and mercy of God.

THE SAD SAGA OF TWO PENTECOSTAL PAULS from here: http://www.ccgm.org.au/Articles/ARTICLE-0112.htm
Over the past 18 months scandals have exposed the double standards of various preachers. Amongst them have been Paul Crouch and Paul Cain.
Paul Crouch is one of a number of U.S. Word Faith millionaire preachers/teachers. He founded the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in 1973, purchasing a television station in 1974 and going on to develop one of the largest world television empires, using satellites to beam his programmes around the globe. He, and his wife Jan, were in partnership with Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker of the PTL (Praise the Lord) in the early years of their media activities.
TBN has had a wide range of Word Faith/Seed Faith/Dominion Theology, leaders on their programmes including: John Avanzini, Kim Clement, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, John Hagee, Kenneth “Father” Hagin, Marilyn Hickey, Benny Hinn, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, Rod Parsley, Carlton Pearson, Frederick K.C. Price, Oral Roberts, Richard Roberts, R.W. Schambach.
Apart from some very unsound theological pronouncements by Crouch and his television guests, some very dubious fund raising, there have also been some damning statements made during broadcasts, including the following by Paul Crouch himself in November 7, 1997:
‘God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world, and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in the way of God’s great voice of proclamation to the whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen!’
Benny Hinn, described as TBN’s ‘star performer’ and ‘star evangelist’, once reportedly declared, ‘God will destroy the homosexual community of America … with fire’ but according to documentary evidence, also once stated in the hearing of a private investigator who had worked for him about: ‘a sexual relationship that Paul Crouch had with his chauffeur’, and that ‘Paul’s defence was that he was drunk.’ At least one other former staff member, a minister and former policeman, heard the beginning of Hinn’s comments, but didn’t want to listen to ‘gossip’. Hinn has more recently denied these comments found in depositions by his former, and now deceased, investigator, Mario Licciardello.
What was the situation to which Hinn had referred?
Paul Crouch Snr. has been accused of a homosexual affair in which he seduced African American, Enoch Lonnie Ford, in a TBN-owned mountain cabin in 1996.
Ford, a known drug addict, and apparently openly homosexual, had been employed to work on telephones at TBN in 1992 and later had been noticed by Paul Crouch. Crouch employed him as his driver and photographer (though Ford knew nothing about photography).
After the sexual encounter Ford had thousands of dollars of debts paid by TBN, and then agreed to a US$425,000 settlement, which included a silence or secrecy clause, in 1998. In 2003 Ford took the manuscript of a memoir describing the sexual encounter to TBN. Lawyers for TBN apparently offered US$1 million for the rights to the manuscript, but this was rejected. The matter went before closed court hearings, resulting in a ruling to keep the matter under wraps (because of the secrecy clause Ford had signed).
However, the Los Angeles Times uncovered information about the whole affair and began an investigation, which again put Ford and his claims in the public spotlight. TBN lawyers went to court to prevent the L.A. Times from publishing the story, but were unsuccessful.
It seems that TBN’s lawyers had been worried about the story leaking out for a number of years. One of the lawyers, Dennis Brewer, apparently wrote in several letters to other lawyers that he had been amazed that Ford had not taken the manuscript to Penthouse magazine and that Paul Crouch’s youngest son Matt, had told a legal partner (in 1998) that he was devastated in having to confront the fact that his father was a homosexual.
TBN, Paul Crouch, and others related to TBN have strenuously denied the allegations, portraying Ford as a sexual predator, extortionist, drug addict and more. In March 2005 they were successful in preventing the airing of a lie-detector interview with Ford in the NBC Universal-PAX TV reality show, ‘Lie Detector’ – at least for the time being. They were not so successful in court. They have attempted to have Ford jailed for breach of contract and court order. A judge ruled in early March 2005 that TBN did not have enough evidence to have Ford convicted.
In spite of all the denials, it seems, sadly, this situation is far from over.
Once again Christian leaders are in the media headlines for all the wrong reasons – and it really raises serious questions about U.S. TV Evangelists – their empire building, their theology, and their morality.
Paul Cain is one of America’s self-proclaimed ‘Prophets of God’. His website currently still declares: ‘Today, Paul Cain is acknowledged as a most prominent leadership figure in the Christian “prophetic” movement.’ To add to his spiritual prominence the website declares that: ‘Paul Cain has led a life marked by a touch of the supernatural. Before his birth, an angel had appeared to his mother with a message from the Lord: “The fruit of your womb is a male child. Name him Paul. He will preach the gospel as the Apostle Paul of old.”’
The website goes on to describe how significant his preaching, teaching and healing ministries have been over the years. Interestingly, his website makes no mention that he had been a companion preacher of the bizarre and heretical William Branham, whom he declared ‘the greatest prophet that ever lived.’ Branham, Cain, and a number of others tried to introduce Latter Rain/Manifest Sons of God into Pentecostal churches. One of the main Pentecostal denominations, the Assemblies of God, rejected this teaching as heresy and also rejected Branham.
Paul Cain was also instrumental in establishing the Kansas City Fellowship – and was one of the main ‘Kansas City Prophets’ – another thing left off his website for some reason. For a number of years Paul Cain was one of the leaders of the National School of the Prophets conference movement – along with numerous others, such as Mike Bickle, Jack Deere, Kingsley Fletcher, Ted Haggard, Cindy Jacobs, Rick Joyner, David Morris, Chuck Pierce, Dutch Sheets, Peter Wagner.
On October 19, 2004 Rick Joyner, Mike Bickle and Jack Deere put out a joint statement (a Morning Star Ministries ‘Special Bulletin’, No.36) – exposing the fact that Paul Cain, while ministering as a ‘Prophet’ in the new ‘apostolic’ and ‘prophetic’ ‘reformation’ – had become an alcoholic and was involved in homosexual activity. They confronted him over these issues early in 2004, then publicly stated ‘Paul admitted to these sinful practices and was placed under discipline, agreeing to a process of restoration which the three of us would oversee.’
Their public statement went on to say: ‘However, Paul has resisted this process and has continued in his sin. Therefore, after having exhausted the first two steps of Matthew 18:15-17, we now have a responsibility to bring this before the church.’
The statement was widely and publicly circulated and placed on Rick Joyner’s Morning Star Ministries’ website. It also included the following apology towards its conclusion: ‘We apologize to the body of Christ for our lack of discernment in promoting Paul’s ministry while he had these significant strongholds in his life. We failed to see them until this year.’
The statement stressed, several times, the hope that Paul Cain could be helped to the point of restoration.
Following the Joyner-Deere-Bickle public statement, Paul Cain eventually made a public confession, stating he wanted to correct his denials made when he had earlier on been confronted by his errors, and acknowledging that he had been struggling with alcoholism and homosexuality for ‘an extended period of time.’ He apologised to Rick Joyner, Jack Deere and Mike Bickle for not being truthful with them and for his ‘misunderstanding of their attempts to discipline me’, and he apologised and asked for forgiveness to those who had been hurt by his ‘actions of emotional or sexual misconduct.’
Cain stated that he was submitting to a numbering of people (naming two of them) who would be ‘supervising every aspect of my restoration.’ It seems that Rick Joyner, Jack Deere and Mike Bickle are NOT part of that team.
Following his public confession (which he placed on his website), Paul Cain made a further public website statement on the 28th April 2005, declaring he had gone to the Lord over the issue and that ‘he has accepted my repentance’ [stated by him in heavy bold print]. His second statement made it clear that he was aware of divided opinions about him and his ministry:
‘It seems that after confessing my mistakes before the world, some have taken the opportunity to take advantage of my transparency, and pour forth more accusations. I will not defend myself…After my confession, I felt concerned that I was coming to a place of complete rejection by the body of Christ. But to my surprise, multitudes have communicated with us and have shared their complete acceptance of me in my humanity.
It also seems that there have been many spiritual analogies and suspicions shared about me which have been aimed to prove that I am either insincere, done with my race, I am ungodly, or that I am a deceiver. Within myself, this has been the hardest thing I have ever undergone. It seems that the onslaught of accusations continues on course, schemed to destroy me for good. But the Lord continues to watch over me, faithfully.
… The most painful aspect of all this, has been the continual attacks by people of God who have added to the difficulty of this whole situation, hindering a process of restoration rather than helping. In all humility, and weakness, I need His grace and presence like never before. I am also in need of that grace to handle the hurtful words and wounds by some of whom I trusted with the secrets as well as the treasures of my heart…. I must stand in the revelation that I am forgiven in Christ. I am not living in a sinful lifestyle. I am standing in the truth that Christ is my Master, and I am His forgiven friend.’
Unfortunately the second statement is all about Paul Cain being hurt. He is adamant that he has been forgiven, and should be allowed to move forward without negative criticism. It is all about him – and lacks the acknowledgement of his earlier confession that perhaps the suspicion and criticism may have some validity and may, at least to some degree, come from the hurt, damage and mistrust his actions have caused others.
Rick Joyner had also made a second public statement (Morning Star Ministries ‘Special Bulletin’, No.46), dated April 22, 2005. He stated that he had received many questions asking about how genuine Paul Cain’s public confession may have been. He commented: ‘It is understandable that many would question whether Paul’s repentance was genuine because of his previous denials. First, I personally question whether anyone has ever repented perfectly. I think there is only One that we can expect perfection from. I personally feel that Paul’s repentance was as genuine as he could make it at the time.’ He acknowledged that he no longer had dealings with Paul Cain (though there had been some small exchange of emails), so wasn’t really sure about his restoration progress. He added that: ‘During our time of trying to help Paul, I did not see much evidence of that which would lead to a quick, easy restoration…there still seems to be much evidence that this is not going to be very quick or easy for him.’ He further added that he would do his best to keep praying for Paul Cain and encouraged readers to do the same, saying: ‘My trust is not in Paul, but in the Lord who does marvelous things.’
Paul Cain did not comment on Rick Joyner’s second statement, even though he would have known about it, having published his own second statement a week later. His website has removed any reference to his ministry activities or resources he may previously have offered through his ministry organisation.
Paul Crouch continues to make denials of any wrongdoing (in spite of massive payments and signed secrecy clauses – with a variety of documents indicating his denials amount to lies) – while Paul Cain has made public confession and claims to be forgiven. Sadly, both men seemed to have failed to release the enormous responsibilities of public, high profile, Christian leadership, and the enormous damage and hurt they have caused their families and relatives, colleagues, their supporters, the wider Christian community and the cause of Christ.
While all of us are human and sinful, including other Christian leaders, denials and confessions after exposure do little to further the Kingdom of God or increase confidence in Christian leadership. May both these men learn from their errors, and may they ultimately come to true repentance and restoration with the Lord. May all of us learn to be more Christ-honouring in our conduct and lifestyle.
