Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

Evangelism - what would motivate the church to suffer embarassment or ridicule?

This is an excellent and very convicting video. It really highlights our true priorities, as like the video shows most people would share the gospel for money, but would not for the love of God. Ouch! It is only a few minutes, please watch it.

  1. Even when I was a Christian, I couldn’t see myself going out and sharing my faith, because I had too many questions myself. To me, I was having so much of a struggle trying to keep myself within Christianity that I could not in good conscience try to bring other people to Jesus. I didn’t want them to experience the questions and doubts I experienced.

Maybe if Christianity was an unalloyed good, instead of a very mixed bag (at best), people might feel more apt to share Jesus.

  3. I asked Jesus to be my savior back in 1975. I could go into a whole long story about it, but why bother? It’s not important.

Did I repent of my sins? Sure. Did I sin again? You betcha. Did I discover that I could be so anal about possibly committing a sin that this obsession would nearly kill me? Oh yeah. Do I ever want to experience that kind of obsession again? Not a chance.

Unfortunately, Christianity is not just about loving Jesus. It’s acceding to a set of beliefs that I found to be more and more incomprehensible as the years went by.

If it were just about Jesus…but it’s not. not.not.not.

  5. Miriam: I don’t believe in substitutionary atonement (aka penal substitution) anymore. Jesus’ death was a tragedy, but it says a lot of uncomfortable things about God if you make it into a be-all for sin.

I can’t DO that anymore. I like my sanity.

  6. Cukes,
    You said :
” Did I discover that I could be so anal about possibly committing a sin that this obsession would nearly kill me? Oh yeah. Do I ever want to experience that kind of obsession again? Not a chance.”

It sounds like you were trying not to sin in your own strength. Any of us who try will surely fail since we don’t have it in us to be sinless. (There is no one righteous, no not even one)It’s only the Spirit of Christ who comes to abide in us that can live sinless.
