Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

Another Contradiction From Todd Bentley – You Can’t Trust Anything Todd Says

Yet another  contradiction has been found coming out of Todd Bentley’s mouth. That makes numerous big whopping lies all told in the space of just a few weeks at one revival. How can his supporters support this man and his ministry - seriously? Is this what Todd’s glory and anointing makes him do – lie?  One lie is bad enough, but there’s lots of them coming out of his and his associates mouths. It is really serious. I would not accept this from anyone, let alone a so-called Christian minister! All the people who claim the unbiblical ’Gamaliel Approach’ – look at all this bad fruit and judge it NOW. There is plenty enough of it!

Both the following accounts are from Stephen Strader in his OWN words, and edited and agreed by him on his blog. Yet there is a glaring contradiction or two.

From here -

“THE ANGEL OF THE LORD APPEARED TO TODD the second day he was in Florida.

“Two saints appeared with the angel.  The angel told Todd to call Prophet Bob Jones.  Bob already knew that it was the Healing Angel…  his name is called THE WINDS OF CHANGE.  When the WIND begins to blow, people will be blown out of wheelchairs!

“The same angel that came in 1948 has now come to Florida in 2008.  This has only happened one time before in Todd’s ministry.

[The lie has already been discussed here of Todd's recent claim that he has never said it is the SAME angel with him as was in the 1940s Voice of Healing movement, he has only said it is an angel like  the one who ministered with William Branham - as if that makes any real difference to the angel's unscripturalness anyway. BUT THAT IS A LIE, just like the claim that they have NEVER SAID ANGEL EMMA IS WITH THEM IN LAKELAND - they have!]

The next account of the same experience on Lakeland Day Two is recounted here  -

“On the second day in Florida, the presence in my hotel room changed…  the Healing Angel appeared to me with two mantles…  supernatural revelations…  like William Branham…  and BOLD FAITH…  like AA Allen. ”

Interesting – was it Saints or mantles that the angel turned up with. There is a huge difference between the two that you would not forget or would not confuse! Did two Saints  appear in his hotel room, or was it two mantles?  The only reason why you could get something like this wrong is if you made the story up and lied about it, as lies are not easy to remember and recall without contradiction, especially if you tell as many lies as Todd does, and are as arrogant as he is.

Regardless, even if this story did not contradict there are huge problems with it. If dead Saints appeared, there is the necromancy/spiritualism element (communicating with the dead) that is forbidden by God – and it was not even as if were a vision in heaven either that you could kind of excuse! (By the way another of Todd’s heros, John G Lake, practised the same – he said it was Ok to communicate with the dead as long as you did not overtly seek it). Secondly, there is the issue of who  these saints are. No doubt, Todd will claim William Branham was one - Branham who was a false prophet, false teacher, liar, charlatan and occultist. Perhaps the other one claimed was AA Allen,  John G Lake, Aimee Semple McPherson or Kathryn Kuhlman. He is on dodgy ground to claim William Branham is a saint. There are various problems with all the others too - A A Allen, John G Lake, Aimee Semple McPherson and Kathryn Kuhlman too (and also I thought Benny Hinn had gotten all Kathrun Kuhlman’s anointing from her grave already).

If the angel appeared with two mantles, and not saints, then there are similar problems because of whose mantles they are claimed to be, plus the obvious question has to be asked – how can Todd Bentley have two  mantles. He only has one call on his life – and he ain’t walking in it, unless he planned from day one to be a son of perdition. So there is still the problem with false theology and false prophecy. But the biggest problem here is the unexplainable gap between the two stories - they cannot both be true.

  1. From Jonathan at http://jesusshaped.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/does-todd-bentley-have-anything-to-do-with-jesus/

We had Todd Bentley speak at an evening service at a church in Boston I was a part of 5 or 6 years ago and not only was it extraordinarily uncomfortable, it required a lot of decompressing and dialogue afterward among leaders and between leaders and those they led. In my observation he was flashy, loud and just plain over the top. You’re right – not much like Jesus at all. More like a despot of a dying country. A good friend of mine thought she’d swallow her judgments and go up to be “ministered to”. She came back feeling more manhandled than anything. “Shoved” was the word she used.

  2. Comment from John H from same site

Todd Bentley has come and will most surely go. I suspect something ghastly is going to happen at some point: this whole circus has the air of a car-crash looking for somewhere to happen.

What’s more interesting (and concerning) is how an obvious charlatan like Bentley manages to attract such a following. What is going on in the church when so many people will flock after someone like Bentley? What is going on when Christian TV channels (even here in the UK) will give him round-the-clock coverage?

    Comment from eclectic -

I would fall into the charismatic camp. I have observed/participated at Airport Vineyard in Toronto. My former Pastor is good friends of the Hinn family. (Benny Hinn’s brother pastored in Hamilton.) I helped start a Pentecostal church and have worshipped in a number of other charismatic churches. In short I am definitely not anti-charismatic.

My wife when she saw the Bentley video said, “that is disgusting turn it off.” I believe that comment was the correct response.

  3. I just read something interesting (from Sound an Alarm at InJesus) – we know Todd is a fan of wrestling (which is all a fake show…) and we’ve all heard him say Bam! Bam! over and over again. Well, it appears there was a professional wrestler called Bam Bam Bigelow! The more this comes together, the more I am convinced Todd is just a mimic. I’ve just read ‘Some Said it Thundered’ by David Pytches, and I think Todd read that book too – a lot of similarities. He’s like a bower bird, taking bits and pieces from everyone and everything that has gone before and trying to make a name for himself.

  4. I am certainly not going to question the truth of these statements by Todd. I didn’t hear them. But I would like to point out two incidences where those who have gone on to be with the Lord have and will reappear on earth;

Matt 171: Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John , his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light
3 AND BEHOLD, MOSES AND ELIJAH APPEARED TO THEM, TALKING WITH HIM. Jesus communicated with “the dead”

The in revelation, the prophets who will appear to all, be killed and rise up, are said to be Moses and Elijah(or whomever people believe them to be)Either way, they will be resent from heaven to appear once again on earth, and will communicate with people

Jesus died and walked the earth for forty days after, communicating with many.

My point is, God does what God wants to do. I don’t think we should seek to talk to the dead(there really is no dead, but a transference from one realm to another) But we also can’t say that God doesn’t send people from one realm to the other, either and use them to communicate, right?

  5. I would just like to say I watched this so-called healing revival tonight on god-tv, and I would just like to say to all of those who buy into this type of thing…. be afraid, be very afraid!!!!
I have studied the martial arts for over 15 years now, and am ashamed to say that I got caught up in the esoteric side of it as well. if I were to fully explain everything I know about this subject this post would be about the length of a new york phone book. so I’m going to try to keep it short. —- for all of those who do not think demonic powers can heal people, they are sadly mistaken.
case in point, taoist chi-kung is one example.
the taoist’s have spent over 2,000 years in the area of healing. and yes, a lot of it does work.
case in point #2—kundalini yoga has healed a lot of people.
the reason I bring up these two esoteric systems is because over the course of a few days I have done a lot of research into this todd bentley. but the scariest thing I have seen are the video clips you can find right here on the internet, and from watching his satellite feed on god-tv. I have taken special note to the fact that this guy talks about the anointing coming up through his spine(kundalini, i.e. serpent power).
and I have also taken note of his spasmatic gestures(twitching, head shaking uncontrollably like a toddler having a tantrum)which are signs of kundalini.
what I want to tell everyone is, be careful not to be taken in by this guy. Jesus warned that there would be false prophets in the last days, and that if it were possible they would deceive the very elect.
just when I thought this kind of stuff was dying down(benny hinn, paul crouch, etc.) here it comes again.
we need to look to the Bible for answers not these false prophets with their angel visions, and their jesus’ that talk to them in their hotel rooms and give a lot of smoke and mirrors. thats all I wanted to say for now.
    just don’t get taken in!

  7. and being charismatic its in the bible to praise your god with dancing and praising loudly, “shout unto God with a voice of triumph” or do u just whisper to God?? let him know how much youve appreciated all hes done for u by just whispering and standing still?? sorry but were thankful for all hes done and we let a shout out and dance for him, maybe u need to be baptized by the holy spirit and stop having a religious spirit, which is also in the bible.

  8. Miriam – I think I have mentioned that my husband is a drummer here in Lakeland. He called me about an hour ago & said he got a call from a musician friend of his, asking him to play the drums at the revival tonight, Wed., and Thurs. He declined, of course, but a couple of his buddies said he should do it. They said he was strong enough in his walk, and maybe he could reach out to people there who are searching. What do you think???

  11. Cassie – Can you please refer to the scriptures which back up Todd’s teachings of calling upon angels, necromancy, a portal into heaven, and Jesus appearing on stage in Lakeland?

Comment by Groovy Girl (formerly Sarah) | June 10, 2008

  12. Groovy Girl:

He has got to realise it is not about him, it is about all the people that see him and assume that he supports this revival. You gotta ask, would he do this at a Mormon convention or Sai Baba rally? And how could he effectively reach out apart from rebuke them all or seriously pray all the time (which he could do at home just as well)?

Also, even though he may feel strong, this is seductive stuff – unless we go in God’s power and might and His strength, we are not strong.

The word of God says ‘refuse to associate with such people’ and to stay away from them, not to associate, far less to work with them. Sometimes God raises up a Gideon moment, but unless you know it for certain and are called, stay away.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | June 10, 2008

  15. I agree, Miriam. I’m in total agreement with you there. Since my husband got saved (he played professionally in the secular world for years), he has used his music as a ministry, reaching out to people who would never set foot in a church. So I think he has questioned this offer because he is used to playing in environments outside of church, and hates to refuse an opportunity to witness.

He did see the difference though, in playing at a secular event, and playing at an event purposefully leading people into deception. I haven’t talked to him in the last hour, but I hope he stood his ground.

Comment by Groovy Girl (formerly Sarah) | June 10, 2008

  16. Well, the hubby is home and he stood his ground. I was so proud of him! – Several people reminded him that the revival is broadcast in 214 countries, and I’m sure that can be seductive. But he said he couldn’t agree in spirit with Bentley, so no matter how strong he is in his own walk, he wouldn’t want his playing there to give anyone the impression that he supports what is going on there.

  22. Thanks Lee,

Bentley stated in one of the earlier meetings, people ask why I say BAM!, it’s my tongue, it’s me speaking in tongues.

Yeah, shika boomba bam bam bam ain’t no heavenly language. And what really amazes me is the people in the Ustream chat room repeating it! It’s probably the only true word to come out of Bob Jones’ mouth – this is a three-ring circus, and Bentley is the performing chimp.

  23. endtimespropheticwords, and lee,
ok, let me see if I can explain this…….
anyone who has ever been involved in taoism, buddhism, hinduism, transcendental meditation, or any of the esoteric martial arts can all agree on this one thing(although they dont agree on much anything else), is this…
meditation has one purpose for them all…
    enlightenment. what is enlightenment(supposedly)?
let me see how I can tackle this.
kundalini is believed to be a dormant energy lying at the base of your spine. when it is awakened(through meditation)
your supposed to be able to actually feel the energy rise from the base of the spine all the way up the spine, and to the head. and this is when you are supposed to become “enlightened”. the third eye opens and you supposedly see that everything is “one”, the world is just one big dream, and you know the “truth”.
from the taoist perspective, they have several different techniques that they practice, that, over time they work together as a whole(kinda like a puzzle).
I’m NOT going to tell you how to do these, but I will try to explain how it all works in what is called taoist chi-kung.
1.every system has this one…its called no-mind. this is where you meditate on your breath, or counting down your breath until there are no more thoughts.(thats a hard one to chew on).
    2. secret smile…this is a meditation that (supposedly) prepares the body for the energy it is about to receive, where you basically smile into the various organs of your body and let them know you accept them(I know,I know, its stupid, but look it up, its part of what they believe).
    3. running of the microcosmic orbit…this is where it comes to a head. they run their “chi” energy in a cycle
starting from the base of their spine, up the back, to the head(crown), and then down the front of the body to the tan-tien(2 inches below your navel), and then repeat it again and again until they can feel the energy actually moving, and then reverse the flow after a few months of meditating.
the kundalina yogi’s dont cycle the flow, they just go straight to the head( to achieve nirvana).
shaktipat, is when someone who has this “serpent power” can transfer their energy to you by a touch, or a gaze.
like I said, there is a lot more to it than I have explained. my intention is NOT to tell you how to do it.(AND I WILL NOT!)
my intention is just to explain some of their “supposed” methodology, and mythology.
endtimespropheticwords, and lee, does this help?

    Comment by james | June 11, 2008

  24. James,

Yes, thanks. I’ve been reading up on kundalini; so, I’m somewhat familiar with that but not the others. The shaktipat imparts the same power of its beholder does it not? If so, in the case of Bentley, the recipients of his ‘touch’ have kundalini arousal. Does this continue on without another ‘touch?’ Or does it have after affects either pro or con.

I’ve read there are after affects which can occur weeks, months later.

    Thanks again,

    Comment by Lee | June 11, 2008

  25. Cassie,

…stop having a religious spirit, which is also in the bible.

Please show me where this is in the Bible. I’ve not found it.

    Comment by Lee | June 11, 2008

  26. yes, it can have bad after effects. such as, doubting everything you had ever known to be the truth.
such as, doubting christ and the work of the cross.
there are people who pay to have shaktipat done to them purposefully. and then they are given instructions on how to meditate to maintain it. but in any case, whether intended or not, it can’t be good.
    but, the good news is….
this too can be broken if the person actually repents and truly receives christ.
I will comment more later have to get ready for church.
    take care, and God bless

    Comment by james | June 11, 2008

  27. cassie, whether you shout when you worship or whisper…
if it comes from the heart, and your’e sincere, and SAVED,
God accepts it. were not saying that it is a bad thing to dance, shout, or jump….
were just saying that these things should NOT take prescedence over doing what GOD really wants us to do….
witness to the lost, warn people of a coming judgement, and a real hell!
bentley doesnt even quote scripture(I know because I have watched this junk all week), he doesnt tell people to go out and witness to the lost.
I watched this guy lay on the floor for what seemed like almost 2 hours while the music was going on, then get up tell everyone he wants to go deeper, and they should do the same. then, he lays back down again.
theres a reason their “praise and worship” lasts for almost three hours….its called trance induction.
this music is played over, and over, and over, so that the concious mind is overloaded.
gee, I think they have a name for this…..HYPNOTISM!!
yes, like I said, I have watched this guy all week. but, before you deem me as unstable, I want you to understand why…………
a few years ago I went to a pentacostal church, got caught up in signs and wonders and all that.
but… one thing really disturbed me(oh by the way, I spoke in tongues), if I had this super-power of speaking in tongues, and having the baptism of the spirit,
why were we all always arguing at one another in this “spirit-filled” church.
why were we(me too) jealous of each other, literally couldnt stand one another, lied about one another.
    but yet, we were “super-spiritual”?
its because, we were going by man’s doctrine, and not actually obeying the scriptures.
all we wanted to do was listen to worship music and “go deeper” with God.
……hmmm, if you really want to go deeper with God, study the scriptures, obey what Jesus is telling us all…
    REACH THE LOST!!!!!
Christ didnt die that agonizing death on the cross so we could feel warm and fuzzy, and have a rock concert!
he died so that we could have eternal life in him, through him, and by him!
….and so that we would tell others about his wonderful love, and his ultimate sacrifice, so that they might hear and be saved.

    Comment by james | June 12, 2008

  28. …..I forgot to add…
that because I got so caught up in this, and saw a lot of people get hurt(mentally, emotionally, and spiritually)
…and saw a lot of people just totally reject Christ, because a lot of them began to be of the asumption that all christians act this way, that I feel like is is my personal duty to warn of these types of false prophets.
no…I’m not saying that “all” pentacostal churches are this way. but, there are a lot of them who will take one verse in the bible and twist it, and contort it, and stretch it so far out there to make it say what they want it to, for their own personal agenda, that it scares me.
it scares me how many well meaning people are being misled
to the detriment of their soul!
    just be careful.
examine these churches by the word of God.
if they are preaching and teaching the unadulterated word of God in context….not how they think it to be, but what were the intents of the original authors by inspiration of the Holy Spirit…..it will show.

  31. I firmly believe that reason, discernment or plain common sense is a gift of the Holy Spirit, so let’s use it about the quasi religious stunts in Lakeland, Florida. Todd Bentley is a patent fake, using the techniques of a stage magician/hypnotist, combined with the fanaticism of other fundamentalists such as Hinn and Bonnke, staunch favourites of God TV. Let us not forget here the vile homophobe Bob Jones. Limbs growing back? Really? Anyone actually seen this happen, other than the Bentley-brainwashed. Gold teeth being installed? O yeah? Since when did the Almighty concern himself with cosmetic dentistry? One poor deluded young man sent a testimony about how he had been delivered from rock music. Heaven help us. And then we have the shouting of gibberish, the writhing along with the multitude of obese Americans, the tuneless ‘hymns’ and the outrageous claims. Demons responsible for illnesses? Spare us. I live in Dublin, Ireland where the fire is allegedly falling. I can’t say I’ve noticed. Shame on God TV for giving a platform to these evil phonies. Shame on the Wendy Alec woman with her inane rantings, and her pudgy little husband who appears remarkably well-fed by the offerings of the gullible. Accordingly to these models of matrimonial bliss, if we can’t buy into this so-called revival, we are under the influence of the devil. There’s only one devil at work here, and that’s the screaming, tattooed maniac who claims that he is raising people from the dead, with his ‘annointings’ that come through television and computer screens. Oh yes, and Jesus Christ is due to make a personal appearance at this circus. Cop on folks. If there is a God, and I fervently believe there is, I cannot believe he works in this way. Chicabuma and bam bam to the, at best deluded, at worst evil lot of them!

  32. I just discovered yesterday all this evidence against Todd Bently and the way he is carrying on. The people in my church are totally in love with him, and have stayed up all night watching the live feeds. I don’t have the god channel, and I think I’m probably better off without it. A girl linked with our church who had cancer died this week. A couple of weeks ago she went to Florida, and Todd prayed and spoke over her. Yet she lays dead now. One of the people from our church went to Florida himself (by the way, his mum has half a mouthful of gold teeth ‘from God’ apparently), and he brought back some specially-made oil called ‘Freedom’. Apparently, when it is used, freedom breaks out. He prayed for people Sunday night, and mostly all he said was ‘freedom-freedom-freedom…etc’, but I did catch him saying, ‘I proclaim freedom by this oil’… Immediately I clocked it, and thought, ‘why not ‘in the name of Jesus…?”

I’m gutted in the main, as I’ve not been out of my last church 6 months yet, which my wife and I left as they had gone all’purpose driven’ and didn’t welcome our challenges. I find the church I’m in a family, yet my fear of God will undoubtedly lead me to speak the truth, once again. How can I do anything else? My spirit is sad. My heart heavy. Yet somehow I will (and must) find the strength to fight against this latest deception.

I can cope with the way things are going, but when it happens to people who you walk alongside, it hurts. I watched Todd ‘play-act’ on you tube yesterday, and straight away it brought back memories of seeing Benny Hinn about ten years ago. He was play-acting in a similar way, and it became instantly clear that Todd is as much as a sham as Benny Hinn is. Worst of all, my pastor looks up to all those in the past who have walked this same path…

But we have been warned in the scriptures! Forewarned is forearmed, hallelujah!

Let’s preach the BIBLICAL TRUTH while we have breath in our bodies, that we might be found pleasing to God the Father.
    Amen.

  33. We really need to warn our family and friends about this Todd Bentley. We need to walk in obedience to the Word of God and not follow every new wind of doctrine that comes down the pike. So sad to see so many look for signs and wonders when we should really be searching for truth from HIS Word. We cannot look at man. This angel stuff is really scary. I had just heard about healing angels this spring. All I could say at the time was WHAT! Crazy!!
