Response To Todd Bentley’s Recent Defense on Fresh Fire Website To Public Criticism
Todd Bentley has put up a defence on his Fresh Fire website here, dated 8th June, which funny enough is the day Jesus did not show up in his chariot and set foot on stage at Lakeland as prophesied. Todd calls the article ‘Bringing Biblical Light to Your Questions about the Lakeland Outpouring & Todd Bentley ‘. ’Biblical light’ is laughable as Todd evidently does not know what ‘biblical’ really is. ’Bringing Light to Your Questions’ is also a joke, as many of the real questions are are not even considered, let alone answered, and his long post only creates even more problems for him, digs deeper holes for him, displays even more lies, contradictions and deceptions, and shows him up for what he is – a blatant liar and deciever.
I already dealt with his false claims in his article about angel Emma and another angel, in the post here. That one post alone shows numerous lies just there! Now I move onto the rest of the article. Todd’s comments are in italics. Mine are not in italics underneath.
Throughout the Old and New Testaments and in every age following, as far as I can determine, the Lord has given His people dreams and visions, signs and wonders, heavenly encounters and divine supernatural experiences….
What age following the New Testament? We are still under the New Testament covenant and not in another ‘age’ yet according to the Bible (in this context). However Todd Bentley and Latter Rainers will not agree with this, as they will see this present age as a glorious new age to manifest the elitist and blasphemous Manifest Sons of God – as per their recent prophecies at Lakeland.
as far as I can determine, the Lord has given His people dreams and visions, signs and wonders, heavenly encounters and divine supernatural experiences….
None of Todd’s main critics or the reputable watchman sites that I know of, would disagree with this. We believe in the divine, we believe in the miraculous, we believe in the spiritual gifts. But we also believe in seductive and deceptive spiritual counterfeits and testing the spirits, to see if they are true or false, which these guys steadfastly refuse to do and worse still command their followers not to do.
The question at issue here is not whether signs and wonders and angels and prophecy are in the bible – of course they are and we agree they still happen today – rather the contentious issue is the SOURCE and TRUTH of the manifestations, visions and prophecies at Todd Bentley and his associates’ meetings or through their ministry, the TYPE of experiences, their bad THEOLOGY, their unbiblical MANIFESTATION, how they are IMPARTED and TRANSFERRED, their TRUTH (do they produce what they claim to produce), the TRUTH of the claims related to these (eg why all the lies, cover ups and contradictions, not to mention obvious hype?) and WHAT the ’signs’ really testify to and what FRUIT they produce.
that, for the most part, we cannot understand with our intellect. In the spiritual realm, God isn’t limited by our thinking!
This is deliberately twisting and distorting on Todd’s part. While we cannot understand everything on this side of eternity, and it is true that God is NOT limited by our human thinking, we can know something - indeed much – about God and His ways now, as well as know Him personally and be led into all truth by His Holy Spirit.
When some revelation or thing from a prophet or teacher or apostle – whoever that person is – contradicts that something that God has already given us, that is already revealed, then something is very amiss. If we do not know whether the new thing is contradictory or not, God has given us the facilities and tools to judge for ourselves its truth.
The Bereans in the book of Acts were commended for being ‘noble minded’ when they heard of the ‘new thing’ spoken by Paul. Rather than swallow it whole without due consideration, they went and took time to vigorously check out whether what ‘the new thing’ Paul was talking about could scripturally be true. The apostle Paul, far from being offended, welcomed this and praised them for it. Paul was not afraid of questions or of being exposed as he had nothing to hide, as the truth never does, it can more than look after itself. Todd Bentley, on the other hand is manipulative and says ‘if you stop to question this move, you’ll miss it’ – his manifestation and its source is afraid of testing as it is not what it claims to be, and his ‘truth’ cannot support itself under testing (look at all the contradictions and backtracking and denials that have come out recently for instance). [Also, if the 'don't stop to test it or you'll miss it' approach is true, and God is truly so welcome of undiscerning acceptance to 'recieve' willy nilly anything and everything, why did Paul not threaten the Bereans they could 'miss it' when they took a couple of days to ponder, and why did the apostles Paul and John command public testing and weighing?] More than this, Todd calls those who test him not ‘noble minded’ but ’Satanists, warlocks and witches’ and repeatedly lies and lies and lies to cover up embrassing revelations. Hardly the works of a child of the light.
Of course, the problems with this ‘if you test it, you’ll miss it attitude’ is the glory in the manifestation, regardless of its truth, and the desire for sensual spiritual expenses at the expense of anything and everything (not to mention obedience to God). If the public should not test in case they miss it, then this says (if we take Todd’s claims that he has the visions he claims to on face value) Todd does not test them either, as he is so eager for an experience, even if it is a lying one. What prophet would you listen to, let alone trust, that does not test or judge their experiences by the word of God or anything else? Todd proudly thinks himself immune to deception - and claims it! Yet the proof is, from his fruit, that he is decieved and a deciever.
It is because Todd Bentley has everything to fear – his exposure for what he truly is – which ain’t pretty and I am not referring to his looks - that he attempts to silence his critics, slander them, or twist what his critics says (eg the false claim that he was mainly being attacked because of what he looks like). Todd does not allow debate, or weighing and judging – as he cannot! His ministry and livelihood is at stake. (Before you say ‘this is not about the money’ - I aim to post an article on the ministry finances shortly - Todd’s income is far from ’modest’ as claimed by Fresh Fire PR people to the media.) Regardless, if people stopped to check Todd’s dubious revelations and ministry and what spirit he ministers by, they would rightly reject him – he would be exposed for what he is – a dangerous charlatan and false prophet.
So, we, when hearing ANY new thing must check it out. God does NOT blatantly contradict Himself or lie about what has already been revealed through the apostles and prophets in the Bible or through the Living Word, Jesus. God has given us minds with a logical and rational thinking ability, and the word of God in the Bible for a reason, containing His commands and instruction re testing and weighing and judging the manifester, the manifestation, the imparter of the manifestation, and the manifestation’s spiritual source and identity. ALL must be checked out.
God has given us the Holy Spirit - so we can in some form have the mind of Christ. He has given his word so we can understand something of His ways and character, if not everything. He has given His Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. Human beings although fallible and not omniescient, can thus discern between truth and error, by weighing up experiences and revelations against the word of God, and using the gifts of wisdom and discernment given from the Holy Spirit.
supernatural experiences that, for the most part, we cannot understand with our intellect
What Todd is really saying is, accept my revelations even though you do not understand them. Accept them even if you do not agree with them. Accept them even if they contradict what I said last week. Accept them even if they contradict with what scripture clearly says and the Holy Spirit says to you about them, as if you do not ‘get’ them or ‘agree’ with them you cannot understand them. Those people who say my visions are not from God are not being spiritual as they cannot understand them to say this! You have to be truly enlightened like me to understand. If you have not had all my third heaven and angelic experiences or do not spend as much time with God as I claim to, then you cannot judge me or my revelations and best just shut up. You”ll get it if you continue to go with the flow. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss it, would you, by being religious ?!
This is all far from the truth. This is the stuff of cults and cult leaders and not true men of God. It is manipulative and controlling and abusive.
God says, “I am the LORD, I change not” (Malachi 3:6).
Todd quotes this, yet this is a wonderful scripture that testifies against Todd and his ‘new thing’.
Todd says God does not change. Yet the ‘God’ of Todd Bentley’s revelations and manifestations has changed and contradicts Himself and His past word frequently. The God in the Bible does not lie, contradict himself or change, true prophets in the Bible do not lie or rob or abuse the flock. Yet Todd does lie and intentionally so and falsely prophesies, and is greedy and manipulative for money, so what does that say about His God and His calling and His prophetic gifting? Has God suddenly changed His position on all of these things? Or is it another foreign God that Todd follows that now savours the smell of strange fire?
Furthermore the whole of the new prophetic and apostolic movement repeatedly declare ‘God is doing a new thing’ and this is ‘new wineskins’ compared to the old wineskins as revealed in the Bible. So according to them, if it is now different to the Bible, it is meant to be according to them as it is ‘new’ and ‘better’. They cannot have it both ways! Has God radically changed or hasn’t he? Does His word still stand, or doesn’t it?
God-given dreams and visions are often because of the gracious outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
What does Todd mean by ‘often’? True God given dreams and visions are ALWAYS because of the Holy Spirit’s work.
They fall into the category of the miraculous when supernatural revelations are imparted
If a dream is God-given then it is supernatural revelation. How can you have a God-given dream or vision without it being ’supernatural revelation’?! Todd clearly does not know what he is talking about scripturally or experiencially. It is also dodgy to claim that a prophetic vision is the same thing as a ‘miracle’. They are not, they are two distict and separate things.
They fall into the category of the miraculous when supernatural revelations are imparted. Ezekiel, the prophet operated in a continuous miracle ministry in the revelatory realm
Excuse me? Where does it even say any of this in the BIBLE? It does not.
Ezekiel, the prophet operated in a continuous miracle ministry in the revelatory realm
Todd has odd ideas about there being a ‘revalatory realm’. How is this scriptural at all (in the sense Todd means it?) This idea fits in with Todd’s gnostic claims but is not sound biblically.
continuous miracle ministry in the revelatory realm
No prophet is continually prophesying 24/7, let alone in a continuous miracle ministry. I think Todd is trying to elevate himself as being in the miraculous realms, not to mention ‘just’ the prophetic realms, 24/7. I’ve heard lots of false claims of his of him travelling to minister to people in the spirit when he sleeps and even when he is not aware of it, and so this would tie into it, although it is not scriptural. I think this is what he is linking into here and trying to imply how anointed he is. Alternatively, if Todd is implying only when Ezekiel was prophesying in the ‘revelatory realm’ (only) that he was continuously in the miraculous ministry, this claim is still false.
Some people desire Scripture for every manifestation of God – for every detail of every God-given, Holy Spirit inspired vision, dream, encounter, or demonstration of the supernatural realm of God manifested on the earth.
Todd has distorted and twisted the criticisim. I do not need scripture for every manifestation or every word. BUT when I see a manifestation, or hear a word, I test it according to the word of God and also by its spiritual source, and if it is false it is false because it has come from either a fleshly or demonic source, rather than the Spirit of God - not because it is not recorded in the Bible chapter and verse. I do not criticise Todd because his angel Emma is not explicitly in the bible. I do not criticise Todd because all his words and actions are not explicitly recorded in the bible (although some of his actions are as he is part of the end times false prophet in Revelation and Thessalonians, and a deciever as recorded in Timothy et al). I criticise Todd because I have tested his claims and found them wanting, to be false, and in many cases to be antichrist and demonic. Because their subject matter contradicts the already revealed word of God blatantly, and because they are strange fire from strange spirits who are not the Spirit of truth. They are seductive lying and deceptive spirits.
We do not need chapter and verse for every single thing that occurs, but when chapter and verse is already given about something that manifests before our eyes, we are not to ignore that chapter and that verse! And many chapter and verses have been given re Todd and his words, antics and manifestations.
While I firmly believe that we’re to defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I don’t believe we’re to defend divine manifestations of God, because they are proof within themselves of the Gospel, wherever the Word of God is sent forth.
This is not true in the sense Todd means it. First of all he assumes, or expects us to assume, all manifestations are of God. His are clearly not, when weighed against the word, when weighed by their fruit, and when their source is tested. When their source is tested they are proof within themself of being antichrist. Todd and his followers refuse to test them – why, what are they scared of? The truth, that’s what. Who hides from the truth? The devil and his minnions!
because they are proof within themselves of the Gospel, wherever the Word of God is sent forth.
Manifestations are not proof within themselves of the gospel at all. The Bible repeatedly says there can be ’signs and wonders’ that are NOT from God and are NOT to be accepted. Many false spirits have gone out into the world. The end time beasts will be heralded with great signs and wonders, to decieve ‘even the elect’, calling down even fire from heaven [who has been calling for that recently?)
Manifestations only prove themselves when they do what they claim to do and follow the preaching of the true word of God. However these manifestations do not follow the word, and they also do not do what they claim to do. So if someone is prayed for to be healed, and they are slain in the spirit and manifest, then the manifestation is claiming that person is healed. But numerous people, all over the world, can testify to being slain in the spirit and manifesting and not being healed to even the tiniest degree. At the height of the Toronto Blessing, one girl I knew well was constantly zapped and manifested literally hundreds of times when there was prayer for healing but was not healed. She prophesied and jerked tremendously and her manifestations testied she spoke the truth when she prophesied but she did not - it was bunkum, but she had people enraptured because she shook so much 'under the power' as she spoke. So what was the manifestations? It was a lying spirit. Many people who have testified to being healed at Todd's meetings are not healed. One man died one week later after Todd proclaimed him healed and he manifested on stage. The little girl raised from the dead apparently was not, (as reported by Charisma Magazine). So what does this say? That God lies? No, certainly not! Rather these manifestations lie. And people - including leaders - lie too sometimes.
Similarly at the time of the Toronto Blessing (that Lakeland is linked to, it is the very same people behind the scenes), numerous prophecies were made by famous church leaders that these manifestions agreed with and testified to, that famously did not come to pass and were proven to be lies. So the manifestations cannot possibly have come from the Spirit of God. They were generated from lying spirits! Not only was there the same lack of discernment at Toronto, but also the same lying spirits were tolerated and given voice to. And the same lying prophets and their agendas (eg Bob Jones) were elevated and promoted.
wherever the Word of God is sent forth.
The trouble is, Todd does not preach the word of God. When he does rarely mention scripture, it is hugely distorted. The word of God is not sent forth. If he is referring to his prophecies as the word of God compared to the Bible, then it is still not the word of God as the prophecies are evidently false.
Discern yes, but defend, no. Consider that many of the “greater” things that Christ said we would do hadn’t even been done yet and weren’t recorded in the Bible.
But 'greater things' are not things that are false, manipulative and contradicting the word of God. They are things that agree with the word, defend it and exhort it. Note yet again, the 'subtle' twisting with the 'weren't recorded in the Bible' . Doing future 'greater things' does not mean or say what Todd implies it to mean. It does not mean you can go extra biblical and ignore the word of God in this context.
While it’s good and right and biblical to test the spirits to see if they are of God
But Todd has said that if we stop to test it, we'll miss it. Todd also said earlier you should not have to defend the manifestations as they are proof within themselves of the gospel. He also says you should not have to defend the manifestations and extols the benefits of extra biblical thinking, 'greater things' and 'new wineskins'. Todd says it is good or right to test things but he does not really mean it, as he undermines this constantly with everything else he says and his emphasises. It is a very good example of deceptive double speak.
While it’s good and right and biblical to test the spirits to see if they are of God
He has never preached this to his followers. If he truly values the need to test the spirits, then why not preach this at Lakeland when the flock are at their greatest danger of being decieved from decieving spirits? And why not test the spirits himself? He says he cannot be decieved and is not concerned about deception so does not test (how arrogant!), so by his on reckoning, he does what is 'not good', 'not right' and 'not biblical' and disobeys God's commands through the aposltes Paul and John! But then, of course, Todd does not mean this about testing the spirits, and is only trying to satiate the criticism by paying passing lip service to it. If his followers tested the spirits then Todd would be out of a job, and Todd well knows it. Todd and his kind literally thrive on ignorance and silencing the flock.
While it’s good and right and biblical to test the spirits to see if they are of God
We have done and found them not to be of God. So what's your point, Todd?
While it’s good and right and biblical to test the spirits to see if they are of God, it’s vital to realize that just because a type of vision or a sign is not listed in Scripture, that it’s unscriptural, to be discounted, or false.
But what is written in the Bible in terms of its verbatim words and content is not ALL we use to test the spirits. We use the applied content from the applied wisdom of the Bible and apply it in testing the spirits - literally - to see if the source is God, and to see if the message is of God. Angels are certainly in the Bible, but if an angel comes to us, we can test it to see if it is one of God's or not, as well as test its message. Not only do we test the message, but we test the source of the message and/or manifestation. Todd ignores these aspects completely.
Just as no two people are alike, no two experiences are alike.
But that is not a carte blanche to contradict or ignore scripture. The Bible mentiones numerous different encounters with an eclectic bunch of people over many centuries, all with different experiences - but the same God with the same character and the same word and the same truth was involved with them all. We all have varying experiences! If someone with an alternative experience to mine or any of the Bible's heros brings out truth from the Spirit of truth, then praise God! But if that someone with an alternative experience to mine speaks of a strange God and speaks by strange spirits with new revelations that replace the Bible's, it is not because they are different and had a different encounter to me (or any of the folk in the Bible) that their 'truth' is rejected, rather it is because they are unbiblical and lead away to foreign Gods. Todd Bentley may as well say, truth is relative to the individual, and all religions lead to God. And indeed that is what this movement is heading towards with growing interfaith momentum.
If you test something properly and find it to be false, then it is false - so what if it is not alike or unlike your experience or anyone else's. False is false.
[It should be noted that even if you claim an identical experience to a biblical character that still does not make what you say to be true and from God. eg. There is a well known false prophet who directly plagarises from the prophet Daniel and then adds in his own stuff.]
We have no account of miracles like amputated limbs growing back, but the absence of this is Scripture doesn’t mean that such a miracle unbiblical.
I am not convinced this is so. Lepers had body parts dropping off them, yet were cleansed and made while. And Lee in a comment has pointed out the man with the shrivelled hand whose hand ‘grew’ out. But regardless, scripture shows God to be a creator, and a healer, where nothing is too difficult for Him – so the Bible clearly shows that amputated limbs growing back would be entirely biblical and within God’s character and will. Todd Bentley is being distorting again to try and make a deceitful point that it is Ok to be extra biblical and even contra biblical. Jesus showed His ‘creator side’ in healing by creating a new eye (or parts of it) for the blind man from the earth that he spat into. Far from being weird or disgusting, this was a prophetic gesture to show He was the creator, as man was formed out from the earth. Jesus was showing his divinity and prophesying it. This wonderful revelation of who Jesus was, and what He can do, is not at all comparable with Todd bamming and headbutting and kneeing and drop kicking people. That is not only weird but abusive. It makes no wonderful prophetic point – it only ‘prophesies’ Todd is an abuser and a mocker and can get away with almost anything and people will readily accept it and go back for more!
God responds to each one of us in different ways so the specific way He speaks to any of His children should not become a doctrine of correctness
BUT who God’s children are IS to be discerned, as well as who the children of the devil are. What God’s children says God says to them is also up for scrutiny as all prophecy should be weighed and publically judged.
Todd does not speak for the God of truth, and he lies. His father is the devil, the father of lies. That is the big issue here.
Someone once said that limiting revelation is like trying to fit an ocean into a cup.
And this is where in the Bible? In thought or implication? It is rather the word one of the dubious new apostles or prophets by the sound of it.
God is continually restoring truth and light to His Church. Therefore, we should place no limit on further revelation.
This is not biblically true in the sense Todd means it. While God does still speak to men today, if the alleged words are false they should not be listened to. If the prophet is false he should not be listened to either.
We should place a limit on listening to false revelation from false prophets or dark spirits dressed as angels of light. Bob Jones from Kansas City has an abysmal prophetic track record and has prophesied numerous flaky unscriptural things, not to mention, antichrist things. The church should set limits and not listen to Bob Jones any more or his spirit guides or any of the prophetic beast he has helped spawn and mentors. But Bob’s spirit guides have been imparted to Todd Bentley! And Bob mentors Todd. False lying and perverse spirits have been proven to have worked through Bob Jones for years. And they are the same spirits in this Lakeland Outpouring. How can they be good, let alone be from God and the Holy Spirit of truth? I mean seriously?
The ‘restoring truth’ to the church is again saying that what is in the Bible is not enough, and new revelation is needed in a new wineskin, and we need Todd’s elitist band of false lying apostles and prophets under the headship of C Peter Wagner. See, the beast does have a false prophet to speak for him!
If Jesus listed for us everything that we needed to know, then knowing Him would have become an option. It’s in knowing Him, who is The Word that we enter into what He has prepared for us.
God has given us all the tools the church needs. Knowing Jesus does ‘not become an option’, as we do not know Christ for knowledge, revelation or experience sake alone but for far more than that – like er… salvation. For Todd to say this, indicates not only his lack of Bible knowledge, but also his lack of grasp of reality of who and what Jesus is and what Jesus did and what reconciliation with God is about. (This is really so fundamental and basic it raises serious questions as to whether Todd ever became born again, let alone whether he ever knew God. He more than illustrates he does not know His ways and does not fear Him now.) There are also gnostic tones in what he is saying here.
To apply doctrine to the response of God in our lives is wrong.
No, it is not wrong. God gave ‘doctrine’ (by that I mean the word of God, not man-made doctrine) for a reason. Note here Todd’s despisal of doctrine – for true doctrine is the word of God! Furthermore God’s ‘response’ in our lives is continual. If we follow through on Todd’s reasoning that applying the word is wrong to ‘God’s response’ in our lives, we discard all doctrine always and just go with the flow and our feelings (without testing or discernment) or the word. We then chuck out the whole Bible – which is what many new charismatics effectively do. Todd is basically saying: it is wrong to apply the word of God to our lives! You what?!!! No wonder he never opens the Bible then – he hates it! Todd hates truth.
Can you see how antichrist and dangerous and deceptive Todd is now? For if we do not have basic doctrine or basic truths (eg Jesus is the only way, truth and life), then we cannot know the real God in the first place. Or worse, we can be decieved into thinking we are a Christian and saved when we are not. If we have not truth, we cannot adequately test revelations and experiences. If we do not have basic truths, how do we know any spiritual experience or ‘response’ or spirit is really of the true God and not the god of this world – if we have no doctrine, we are prey to all sorts of deception and deceptive spirits and doctrines of demons. Who is ‘God’ for that matter if we have not doctrine?
Going by Todd’s reasoning, everything that takes place in anyone could be God, as it is wrong to apply the word of God to test the experience. So speaks the god of this world.
Note also that all doctrine is not done away – just doctrine Todd hates, like the Bible. Todd is replacing true doctrine with his false doctrine garnered from false encounters with false prophets and false angels. Eg the doctrine that anything goes, we can go into the third heaven at any time by will, etc etc
To apply doctrine to the response of God in our lives is wrong.
What is the ‘response of God’. Todd means his prophecy and manifestations. He is basically saying do not test them! (But he said earlier we should test them, does he know what he thinks, does he care?)
For someone to assume that something that happens to us isn’t of God because it’s not in his or her doctrine or knowledge of Jesus is, in my opinion, to grieve the precious Holy Spirit.
No, it is not grieving the Holy Spirit or blaspheming Him. For the Bible commands us to test and weigh prophecy and publically judge it. Todd’s prophecy or vision is what he would define as a ‘response from God’. The apostle Paul commands us to test this ‘response’ and the apostle John echoes it. Nowhere in the Bible does it say it grieves or blasphemes the Holy Spirit for his gifts and manifestations to be tested under the microscope. Indeed it grieves the Holy Spirit when God’s children embrace junk and do not test!
For someone to assume that something that happens to us isn’t of God because it’s not in his or her doctrine or knowledge of Jesus is, in my opinion, to grieve the precious Holy Spirit.
Todd is implying that his critics ‘assume’. I have not assumed, rather I have weighed and tested Todd and KNOW he is false. Also note his hypocrisy here - he has said, do not judge you’ll miss it, so his followers if they do not judge and discern in order to embrace it are assuming it is Ok. So it is ok for them to ‘assume’, but not anyone else? What a deciever!
I say that Todd’s alleged encounters and visions and manifestations are not of God, not so much because they ‘aren’t in my doctrine’ but because they blatantly contradict the Bible’s doctrine. Some commentators have frequently said ‘don’t judge what you don’t understand’ – but you see, I DO understand, that’s the whole point of me shouting out a loud warning. If I did not understand Id keep quiet. I fully understand that Todd is a greedy and manipulative liar and false prophet and false teacher. I understand that he imparts demonic impartations and teachings that are antichrist in nature…. and so could anyone else understand this if they weighed up the truth for themselves and looked at the facts! Also, Todd cannot even agree with himself – indicating his intentional lies. It is not rocket science to follow the trail of lies, contradictions, deceptions and cover ups coming out of these guys. That stinks.
I say that Todd and his posee’s manifestations are not of God, not so much because they ‘aren’t in my experience’ because many of them are IN my first hand experience. I am fully conversant with the Toronto Blessing that this has spawned from. God also directly spoke to me on them and said they are NOT from God.
I say that Todd and his posee’s visions are not of God, because many of them are IN my first hand experience. I have seen and heard these prophets talking over many years and know them to be false from first hand experience and their track records. Also God has spoken to me directly about these men and women and declared them to be false and dangerously false.
But even if I had not first hand personal experience, and no such direct revelation from God, it does not matter. We can still test and weigh things outwith our experience to see if they are gold or fool’s gold. I have never been a satanist but know it is wrong and will say it is wrong and I can judge Alaister Crowley’s experiences and visions and manifestations as being wrong. I have never been a Mormon either but I will judge Joseph Smith’s revelations from the angel Moroni as being false. And so with Todd Bentley. Following through on Todd Bentley’s twisted logic, we should accept Joseph Smith and Alaister Crowley’s revelations and their response from ‘God’, or at least not judge them, or we will be grieving the Holy Spirit!
I believe each experience is unique and tailored to the individual’s background, experiences, circumstances, capacity to receive, and personal relationship with Jesus. The experience is usually one that a person can relate to. The Lord meets us where we’re at and often shows us things in a way that gets our attention, in a way that we, as individuals, uniquely understand and relate to.
What Todd is actually saying is, anything goes, however contradictory, and we should accept it. Anything goes, every experience is right, all religions and paths lead to God (that’s what comes next). Anything goes but criticism.
Some are questioning the soundness of my visitation from Jesus while I was in Redding, California. I stated in an interview that it was as though He came into this realm and I saw Him as I would imagine Jesus would be with the disciples on the Earth, as the Son of man, a humble servant as He walked the earth, not in His resurrection glory. The purpose of this experience was for God to impart to me His supernatural peace in my life. God chooses, in His infinite wisdom, to reveal Himself in different ways, and in various aspects so that people can understand, relate, and even receive Him. Why do some think it so bad if God wills to come in His grace and reveal Himself to us in whatever manner He chooses?
God can come any manner he chooses. But He does not contradict himself or any reality or truth when He comes. You cannot justifiy false visitations or visions, by saying God can do what he likes and appear as He like! That is sneaky and duplicitous. If God appeared as a red dragon, does that mean we should accept that as being true? If Jesus appeared as defeated, and Satan as the victor, should we accept this alleged visitation as being godly as ’God can come anyway he wishes?’ Todd is trying to justify that Jesus is not now in His resurrection glory. This is an antichrist vision and not acceptable to any degree.
What’s important, however, are not the details of, for instance, a vision, but how it points to Jesus, the revelation gleaned, what we learn from the experience, how we apply it to our life, and/or speak it into the life of another, and how it draws us closer to Him, for His name’s sake
You what? Apart from this being contradictory (eg how does one glean revelation if not by the detail, and how does one apply it, if the detail not understood?) details are very important, as otherwise what’s the point of God giving detail in a vision? Look at the detail in Daniel and John’s visions – the details are very important and there for a reason. Todd once again indicates he is not biblically literate, or a true prophet, and does not know what he is talking about! He boasts about visons for visions sake, not for their truth. There are again gnostic tones – the experience over the revelation or the truth.
Because one person may not be able to relate to a dream, vision, or experience of another, he or she may attribute this to the devil or to the flesh, or hallucinations, for example
It is perfectly valid to consider whether an alleged vision or prophecy is a fleshly hallucination or vain imagination – or an outright lie. Or is from encounters with demons. Or is from a mixture of sources. Likewise with all spiritual manifestations and spiritual gifts.
Many visions and experiences accepted in today’s church are not from God but are readily embraced anyway. People are falsely pushed over as slain in the spirit, I have heard false tongues used and embraced as being godly because they ’sound spiritual’. Many people in the church do ‘relate to’ ear tickling prophecies and false gifts as they know no better – the truth, however feels alien to them - but whether one ‘relates’ to something or not, does make it any the less true or false. The word of God and testing the spirits – not experience, not commanlity, not frequency, not tradition – reveals something’s truth or falsity.
Critics do not criticise Todd’s prophecies because they do not ‘relate’ to them – they critise them because they are false and from lying men and lying spirits.
Again, it’s all relative to each individual, their experiences, and backgrounds,
No it is not. Truth is not relative. Truth and Error is all testable and discernable against the word of God with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Only the devil says truth is relative.
and with what they have learned through intimacy with Christ Jesus, and what they have received as a love response from God. I spend hours and hours at the feet of Jesus and perhaps the next person doesn’t.
Ah! See what Todd is actually doing here? He is saying ‘I am better and more enlightened than any who will dare to disagree with me or question me because I spend hours with Jesus in the glory’. and ’My visions are a love response from God, who are you to question them!’ Apart from the fact this is a LIE, just like many of his other claims, so what if he really spends 24/7 in prayer or soaking? He is not immune to deception. If he says something false, it is false regardless of his experiences or works. A false prophet cannot dispute he is false by saying ‘ah I spend loads of time with God’. So what if you do or don’t. So what even if it is the true God you spend time with. A lie is a lie. A false prophecy is a false prophecy. It should be weighed up irrespective of the prophet or how long the prophet claims to sit at God’s feet.
I spend hours and hours at the feet of Jesus and perhaps the next person doesn’t.
Notice also the arrogance, boasting and pride manifested here. Furthermore, note all true believers are with God and God is continually with them even when they are not actively engaged in dialogue or spiritual pursuits.
I spend hours and hours at the feet of Jesus and perhaps the next person doesn’t.
Todd claims to spend hours and hours with Jesus yet the proof is he does not even know Him. He evidently does not fear God as he brazenly lies, decieves and covers up about his visions and spiritual encounters. He is also financially greedy. That fruit from his life ain’t good. The fruit from his prophecy ain’t good, either, it stinks. It is false and unscriptural and contradictory indicating if he does have visions they ain’t from Jesus. Todd idolises false prophets and healers and claims to converse with them in his dreams. Yeah, in your dreams, Todd!
Todd also mentions a vision from Smith Wigglesworth, but Smith Wigglesworth was not God, and many of his claims under scutiny do not hold out either.
Christ paid the price for our spiritual blessings and access to heavenly things – angels included.
Being blood-bought does not mean that we can see angels at will, or enter into the third heaven at will as taught by Todd and his crowd. We cannot even have visions at will, least of all as guided by men!
Where I would be concerned about angelic revelation as being deceptive or as angels actually being demonic spirits, is where not-yet Christians claim angelic revelation while rejecting the cross of Christ.
Apart from the question, is Todd really a Christian, and does he in fact reject the cross of Christ because of his antichrist and gnostic teachings, this is not the Bible’s point. All visions and revelations – Christian’s or otherwise – have to be tested. They can be deceptive. Paul commands it. John commands it. Todd arrogantly and ignorantly says he is not at all concerned about it. But I thought he said earlier things have to be tested! The Bible also says there are wolves with sheeps clothing, angels of light and false prophets called ‘Christians’ in the church.
What Todd is saying is, Christians, and especially me, cannot be decieved, so go with the flow and accept my revelation. I am beyond deception. So says the arrogant, decietful and manipulative man who twists the word of God for his own evil ends. But Ah! what shall his end be! He is decieved and a deceiver. If he knew his true end, he would be on his face really crying aloud to God for his mercy and forgiveness.
Furthermore, the Colossians heresy indicates that it is not just pagans who are at harm of accepting the heresy of overly-focussing on angels but the church were. This is what Paul warned them of.
Rejecting the cross of Christ can be far more sublte that saying ‘I do not believe in the cross’. Rejecting the cross of Christ can be adding onto the finished work by extra works or revelations, putting men into the place of God (eg new prophets and apostles, popes or priests) or replacing or undermining Christ by experiences with angels and talk of portals and ladders.
Angels have a purpose in God’s plan. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to the Body of Christ that an angel, called the “Winds of Change” should usher in a new move of God.
Notice the blanket statement of a prophecy that by admission has not been tested in any way. Who says this about this angel? Who has allegedly seen this angel? Who even says there is such an angel? Bob Jones says so! And everyone in the prophetic movement agrees with Bob where it suits them. Liars and proven false prophets testify to this angel, but men and women of integrity do not! Why should we believe you or Bob, Todd? You are on record for lying numerous times and evidently have no integrity. Bob Jones is a false prophet. How can anything he says be trusted to be true, let alone be from God when he prophesies antichrist false things (eg Bob Jones recently said that Jesus shed his blood still once a year as a high priest!)
Undoubtedly angels are involved in God’s purpose as his servants, and minister still to Christians. But that does not mean that Winds of Change is one of God’s angels. Looking at this angel’s alleged nature, and how is he imparted or introduced through the aberrant false prophet Bob Jones, and what he was allegedly associated with (the 1940s/1950s healing revival with false prophet William Branham) and what he is alleged to be doing (ushering in the Latter Rain) indicates he is NOT one of God’s angels. I, for one, want nothing to do with this supposed ‘new move of God’, as it is not my God this angel serves.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to the Body of Christ that an angel, called the “Winds of Change” should usher in a new move of God.
Note again the blatant assumption that this should not be a surprise, that this is God’s angel, and this is God’s new move, and the lack of testing.
The new move proclaimed is not from God, it is a Latter Rain antichrist one that elevates false apostles and false prophets all converging with Rome. God through the Holy Spirit ushered in all this church age needs – not angels, least of all called Winds of Change.
If God has chosen to send them to us, it behooves us to welcome their presence as we usher in the presence and move of the Lord
But only Todd and his cronies are saying God has sent these angels to us. Why should we believe him, especially without testing the claims biblically? God has not sent these angels. They are either figments of Bob Jones sick perverted and corrupted mind, passed onto and repeated by corrupted and corrupting career prophets like Patricia King and Todd Bentley, or are demons.
It does not behoove us to welcome in any such angels, particularly not without testing and discernment - rather we should say ‘let this men and their angels be accursed!’ as they preach another gospel and another Jesus. This is not a move of the Lord Jesus.
Of the angels we learn, “He makes His angels winds and His servants flames of fire” (Heb. 1:7, NAS; see also Psalm 104:3, 4). If God has chosen to send them to us, it behooves us to welcome their presence as we usher in the presence and move of the Lord.
We see a manifestation of God’s presence and power by means of “wind and fire” in the New Testament on the day of Pentecost “when suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:1-4).
‘He makes His angels winds and His servants flames of fire’ does not mean that the ‘fire’ that fell at pentecost was the presense of angels, or caused by them! This is not just ridiculously bad theology, it is blasphemous and antichrist. The Holy Spirit was the one the came, not angels, or ‘the angel’. Perhaps this is why Todd wants everyone to believe in ‘the angel’ one who who would pretend to be Jesus, or the Holy Spirit.
Some people have even ventured to say that my visions and visitations are false. That’s like telling someone who’s just told you about a dream they had in their sleep that they didn’t really dream it.
No, it’s not at all. It is saying that they are ‘false’ because of their source and their content. In Todd’s case, I venture to say many of his visions and encounters did not occur as well because of their contradictory and far fetched nature. His multiple versions and spins of the events cannot all be true, and this with his evident lack of understanding indicate he is not even a sincere but misguided false prophet, but a brazen liar. In his case I am saying of many if not all these things: ’He did not even dream it, he is inventing it and making it up as he goes along.’ (You can note this too by watching his body language, noting his language (only liars keep adding ‘this is really true!’ and also by using wisdom and discernment – Todd is a bad liar.)
By Todd’s logic again, note again the despising of discernment and testing – he is basically saying: If I said it, not only did it happen in the first place and you cannot dispute it, but it is also true. Which of course is not true. As people lie. Todd lies. You can dispute it just as a policeman or court disputes a false alibi when the evidence betrays the lie as a lie.
And even if it did really occur, it still does not make it Godly just because it happened. If someone dreams a dream, it does not make the dream a prophetic dream by default, does it? It is only prophetic if it is prophetic in nature!
In the case of my encounter with Paul the apostle, just as Paul didn’t know if he was in his body or out of his body when he was taken into the third heaven, I don’t know whether my encounter was in a vision or an actual encounter. I do know that it was not of the adversary. God had reason for this experience and for the revelation that transpired from it. These things I cannot refute.
This is the encounter where Todd allegedly met Paul, David and Abraham in heaven here. There are ridiculous, ludicrous images and claims, including that Paul looked like a little pudgy mediveal monk, Abraham was 6ft 5 and Pakistani looking, and that David had long reddish hair and blue eyes and looked just like Jesus. David and Abraham are the true apostolic fathers, according to Todd’s revelation, and Abraham apparently taught Paul in heaven and they co-authored the book of Hebrews together as ’so much of Hebrews is based on other things that you just can’t pull from in other scriptures’. The revelation then gets all weird with Todd climbing up and down Jacob’s type ladders surrounded by bright colours and rainbows, and pulling back clouds, and bad ideas about what is the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth seventh heaven. Note in all this detailed vision, of Todd’s apparent time in heaven, there is no focus on GOD, let alone on Jesus! We are led to believe Todd went up and had all these experiences and went down again untouched and without being any the wiser about God. All he came back with was a pack of obvious lies, and some self promotion.
I do know that it was not of the adversary. God had reason for this experience and for the revelation that transpired from it. These things I cannot refute.
Who is your adversary, Todd, seeing it is not clear which God you serve? If we take what Todd says on face value, he says he knows it was not the adversary (without testing) and knows it was from ‘God’ because he experienced it. This despite its blatant lies and contradictions indicating it cannot have been from God. Is Todd really that proud and arrogant? I have already detailed how this approach is foolhardy and reckless, even if we accept it really happened as claimed (which I do not).
Todd says – ‘these things I cannot refute’ – well any sane Christian can refute them, if Todd is unprepared to test and weigh them. His vision contradicts the Bible multiple times. It is a lie from a lying spirit (either Todd’s or a demon’s or both). It is not, and cannot, be true and from God.
for the revelation that transpired from it
The revelation is false though and blatantly so. If Todd continues to insist this is GOD then he testifies his GOD is the devil, the father of lies.
My accountability team and I, through careful examination determined that this vision was not outside of God’s realm
Todd has an accountability team? Oh do not make me laugh. That is the craziest thing I have heard. If such a team exists they are as corrupt and biblically illiterate and as godless as he is. But let us not forget his mentor is Bob Jones!
My accountability team and I, through careful examination, determined that this vision was not outside of God’s realm.
But I thought he said that you should not test things or deny another persons’s ‘response from God’ as that grieves the Holy Spirit? How can Todd be ‘accountable’ to anybody when nobody can say of another person’s ’response from God’ it is wrong, as we are all differant and all truth is relative – according to him? And Todd also said he cannot be decieved, and is not concerned by potential deception, so why then weigh anything or subject it to his or anothers’ judgment, if this is the truth? And Todd has specifically stated it is wrong to apply the word of God to such individual’s (especially his) ‘responses’, so how did this accountability team weigh this vision and decide it is was ‘within God’s realm’ if not by the word of God? By their experiences? But all experiences are different and anything goes and we should not judge them!
So Todd is contradicting his own doctrine and his own arguments by making this statement that it went through an accountability team. If Todd could not refute his vision or experience, and ‘knew’ it was not the adversary, and Todd only needs to be concerned of demonic counterfeits if not a Christian, then why let this go through an accountability team at all, let alone have an accountability team in the first place? This is a tadd contradictory. And is he could not ‘refute it’ and his accountability team were not yes men on his payroll (if indeed they exist) and if they said it was not of God, would he have refuted it or ignored their criticism like he does us? [It should be noted that Todd is accountable to not just his accountability team but others in the general body of Christ. I call him to account!]
His talk of ‘accountability’ is just religious deception to try and pull the wool over the undiscerning’s minds. Somebody is lying and decieving here and it ain’t me. What Todd is really saying here is: nobody who comes up with the conclusion that I am false, can come to that conclusion, let alone speak it out and he has given all sorts of false lying reasons why this is so. He is pretending he is accountable and giving lip service while all the time denying the need for it. The hypocrit and deciever! More double speak and dark sentences from Mr Bentley.
God had a purpose and a plan for the revelation He gave me and it all pointed to Christ.
But none of this vision pointed to Christ. Not even remotely. It was just full of ridiculous obvious lies. It promoted Todd Bentley but Jesus is not even mentioned, let alone worshipped or focussed on. Some of it is even antichrist (eg the talk about Jacob’s ladders Todd climbs up and down and the portals).
An encounter with heaven is an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ.
So why not mention him then? In another alleged third heaven encounter, all Todd could focus on was the gold and stuffing it in his pockets. That says it all about what god he worships.
Many people don’t see what’s happening in the spirit realm, viewing things only from the physical realm. This is one reason why there’s so much division right now. I have found that many are judging things by what they see or hear in the natural, by their natural senses, to feelings, or without having relevant supernatural experiences themselves.
It is right many people are only viewing things from a non spiritual perspective – but that is his followers. Todd’s critics are those who look beyond the man-made hype and show and lies, and spiritually discern between good and evil, between true and false. They are ones that rightly use the sword of God to divide between flesh and marrow.
I have found that many are judging things by what they see or hear in the natural, by their natural senses, to feelings, or without having relevant supernatural experiences themselves.
Basically Todd is arrogantly saying if you do not agree with him, you are not spiritual. Even though he contradicts scripture and logic.
But the fact is the critics I know of all criticise spiritually, using the word of God which is spirit and power, and in some cases use the gifts of wisdom and discernment, prophecy and the distinguishing of spirits. Many of Todd’s critics have supernatural experiences of themselves (although not of Todd’s lying kind). We believe in the true but we also belive in the counterfeit and so test and weigh. Does Todd never test and weigh ever, anything, anywhere?
I am a prophet and I prophesy Todd is of the darkness and not the light. But you do not need to be a prophet to know and see what Todd is, just like you do not need to be a prophet to know Joseph Smith or Alaistair Crowley are of the dark one.
They shared that they had to repent for believing in their hearts some of the concerns that they’d heard or read about, without first seeking the Lord about it or attending the outpouring, and experiencing first hand what God was doing here. They were amazed by the power and the glory of God there, and have headed back to Nevada with good reports!
Ah, here is the criticism, how can you know if you have not been there yourself. This is a ridiculous and lying and unbiblical thing to say. So we have to go to to Todd’s rally to say he is of the devil? Would you believe us anyway if we did? No, you’d find another excuse to discount our judgments. As it is, many have been there in person and testify it is not of God and their opinions are still ignored by Todd.
As for me, I can listen to Todd or watch him on the TV or internet or read his numerous lies, and know he is false, just as I can read other false prophet’s messages and know they are false without meeting them. Is Todd saying you have to go somewhere and experience it before God tells you it ain’t right? Only the devil who promotes sin would say that! I have never been to a witches’ coven or experimented with drugs but know that it ain’t right and will boldly say so. I have never cheated on my husband and do not need to sleep with some fancy man and have experienced adultery before I knock adultery and say it is wrong!
Why would you experient with sin? It is only a son of the devil who says such a thing. If the couple Todd mentions existed, they were seduced by their feelings over truth, just as I might be if I slept with some fancy man and decide it must be right because it felt so good. Sin is like that – seductive.
By the way, Todd, you criticise me and other critics, but you have never been here with me in person and experienced my criticism! Don’t knock me and judge me til you have been here with me in person and experienced first hand what God is doing! Come and get some!
People may see me or others sprawled out on the floor, or in heavenly laughter, or shaking because of the glory and presence of God, but try to look beyond and understand that something’s happening in the spirit, trusting that there’s that other realm that you may not see.
Because there is a spiritual realm, does not mean that everything that happens at a religious meeting is spiritual. There is a lot of fleshly behaviour, deliberately manipulated through music under the guise of worship, hype, body gestures, tones of voice, auto suggestion and other trancework and hypnotic suggestions and other ploys. There is also deliberate faking it, and I have seen Todd faking it numerous times. There is also the demonic.
trusting that there’s that other realm that you may not see.
Am I to trust you and take you word for it that Jesus came out of heaven in his chariots, appeared in the clouds, and appeared on stage on June 8th and only you saw him, Todd? Yeah, right. Pull the other one.
Revival is often messy because there’s a lot happening
This is not revival though they pretend it to be. Besides which true revival is not rotten at its core like this one.
and sometimes it’s hard for people to take in everything they see in the natural.
How patronising! The thing is, is it is NOT hard for people to see it is fake and unbiblical if they will but look – in the natural or supernatural. Todd is mocking the church. It is not hard for me to see what this is about. I understand it only too well. And that is why I warn.
Many come and some do manifest fleshly things,
But Todd just said a minute ago: but try to look beyond and understand that something’s happening in the spirit, trusting that there’s that other realm that you may not see. Now we are NOT to trust something spiritual is going on but to understand it may be something fleshly too? What in Todd? Or others? Or Todd manipulating and hyping others?
If fleshly behaviour can occur, then why does he never warn the crowd of its possibility if so, but only plays the flesh up with deliberate ploys and hypes it up and rejoices in it? Why does he love and welcome fleshly behaviour (eg pushing people over) pretending that God knocks them over? Why is there so much focus on the flesh – if people do not manifest and go over, Todd and the crowd are not interested. Why does Todd not recognise and welcome the quiet and invisible work of God equal to the noisy and the messy (which I dispute is God but humor him for the sake of this point)?
If fleshly stuff is manifested and a Christian thinks it spiritual, how is this Christian then decieved? I thought that Todd said they could not be decieved and could know it was of God and undeniable, and they do not to discern or defend the manifestation. Should they have tested the spirits after all? And if they discern their fleshly (or worse demonic) manifestations come after Todd lays his hands on them, then what does it say about Todd and the source of his impartations? And what is then done?
Does Todd ever test for the flesh or for the demonic in himself or others? How is the flesh over the Spirit spotted by anyone? And should people not judge in case they grieve the spirit, according to Todd?
They have claimed if they see fleshly behaviour exhibited at Lakeland they will kick people off stage, but this is absolutely not the truth as they embrace fleshly behaviour and false manifestations, not reject them. And who are they to judge, by their own reckoning, someone else’s ‘response’ from God just because it is different to theirs. They just do not understand it and must not judge! Can you see all the hypocrisy and lies and contradictions here?! They cannot keep their story straight.
but for the most part, everyone is sincere and of good intention at a revival.
Todd isn’t sincere, nor is Stephen Strader. But even if they were sincere, sincerity and good intention is not markers that a revival is a revival and that it is godly. Are Mormons or Catholics or Hare Krishnas and many witches not equally sincere and of good intentions? Sincerity is not the point. Truth is. But truth is in short supply through Bentley at Lakeland.
Trust it’s better to be full of life with a little untidiness than to be dead. Also, trust that God is big. He can handle it and can separate the tares from the wheat.
So Todd is basically saying that unquestionally accept everything he says and imparts as God is big enough. How decieving! A little leaven is commanded not to be tolerated, and this is more than a little leaven, it is whole barrel full of yeast. It is more than untidiness, it is deception and the doctrine of demons. It is no excuse not to discern or not to weigh things! The church is commanded to pull out the weeds, it is NOT left up to God. And Todd is one huge stinging nettle.
Trust it’s better to be full of life with a little untidiness than to be dead.
Full of life? How can one be full of life by being renewed by the doctrines and impartations of demons? Only Jesus gives life, and most going to this revival know Jesus already but are being led into spiritual adultery with another Jesus and seductive spirits. They actually go to fall away (just as happened with Toronto, many fell away in the years following) and to spiritual death – not to life. Todd does not have the truth or teach it. Nor does he have life. His end as part of the false prophet is the lake of fire, the same place C Peter Wagner’s beast are destined. Do you really want to follow him there?
Revival shakes paradigms. It doesn’t fit the mainstream Church’s way of thinking. Revival is an upstream move of God that breaks away from the stagnant pools of religion and tradition. Those bound by tradition and inside a paradigm of do’s and don’ts who give way to an upward stream, find transformation, and a new supernatural, empowering paradigm for their lives.
This sounds impressive. I am sure Todd did not write it. Revival may well move away from traditionalism. I do not have a problem because Todd is ‘untraditional’, rather I have a problem with him because he contradicts the timeless word of God and does not testify to my Jesus and my God.
An upward stream. Hmm. Does that mean we should all embrace the antichrist, Todd, and find transformation, and a new supernatural, empowering paradigm for our lives?
Moves of God like this are never normal. Do you think what happened in Acts looked normal to the disciples, or even to the onlookers? Pentecost was way, way out there, pretty far out, and must have caused much talk.
It does not need to be ‘normal’, but it does need to comform to the word of God. Pentecost though appearing ‘far out’ was not – it testified with scripture, and was promised, prophesied and expected. Todd’s words and acts do not, they testify against scripture and true prophecy, blatantly. The fruit of Pentecost were immediately evident and glorified God and empowered the church. Todd’s fruits are only bad and lead to lies and spiritual delusion.
Revival is about new things happening, so it’s important not to be quick to judge.
Actually, it is very important to ‘judge’ its soundness and its spirit and its truth OR reap the aweful consequences. Discerning and judging a prophecy or a prophet is NOT rocket science. It does not take weeks or months, it can be done within hours, or days at most. Sometimes it only takes minutes. Todd only wants people not to judge him so he gets as long a run as possible at pulling the wool over their eyes. I have said it before and I say it again, Todd fears discernment as he and his father get revealed if people test.
Revival is about new things happening, so it’s important not to be quick to judge.
These things are not new. They were there in the associated Toronto Blessing 14 years ago and have followed many false religions and movements for hundreds of years. Also, Todd is NOT new on the scene, nor are his associates. Some people have been weighing him and his associates and their prophecies and their impartations for YEARS. Therefore they are hardly quick to judge.
so it’s important not to be quick to judge.
How long is long enough for a critic to say Todd is false? 14 years? 60 days? And surely by Todd’s reckoning, we not should not judge anyway as that is grieving the Holy Spirit. Please, Todd, which is right? Should we be slow to judge or not judge at all?
so it’s important not to be quick to judge.
If we are to not be quick to judge, surely that means by Todd’s logic, we should not readily accept something, as if we do, we judge it to be right! Surely that means we should be cautious before recieving his impartations? Oh no, but that is not what the hypocrit Todd claims, rather it is only critics who should not be quick to judge and are to keep quiet. Oh, the hypocrisy of this vile man!
We’re only in our baby stages – and there’s a lot to learn, but what we need now is the support of the Church because unity is crucial.
How can light support darkness? Why would anyone want to support workers of darkness who are greedy and manipulative liars and makes things up as they go along? What Todd wants is unity at the expense of truth and for people to support him anyway. No way! Leave Babylon alone. The chuch should rather be unified against evil doctrine and evil men like Todd.
One of the admitted aims of Todd’s revival is to elevate the false dominionist apostles and prophets who want you to unite with them so they can have power over you. You want to unite with them? Whose agenda is killing (literally) all their critics. That’s loving, isn’t it?
If you cannot understand the supernatural things of God, or even if you disagree or choose to discount or discredit me in any way, then I urge you to look at the fruit
Indeed look at it. Jesus commands us to judge a prophet by his fruit – that is not his ‘goodness’ but whether what he says comes to pass. Todd’s words do not and are not true. You are judged by your bad fruit Todd.
However we can also judge Todd by the evident lack of the fruit of the Holy Spirit – that is his pride, lack of truth, lack of self control, arrogance, hypocrisy, false prophecy, false teaching, false manifestations, false words, mocking God, mocking his saints, lack of discernment, lack of wisdom, lies, contradictions, cover ups, deception, brazenness, antichrist teaching, over focus on angels, no fear of God. The numerous lies alone show Todd is not a man of God. Nobody can dispute the lies or cover ups – they are well documented.
If you’re watching out a window from a distance and see a child running around a busy street and in obvious danger of being hit, but see someone close-by who could help, what would you do? Would you first judge the person to determine if he or she is “fit” enough or qualified to lend assistance, in your eyes? Would you check to see that the person is wearing an “S” for “Superman” on his shirt? Would you wait for the right person to come along that fits your mold, or would you throw open the window and yell, “That child – save that child!”
How can someone save ’the child’ who does not teach the truth or lead to the real Jesus. Todd is basically saying, do not care about the lies, and deception, do not stop to check, flow with me as they are real conversions I am having. But Todd’s gospel is not real, so while some may be genuinely saved in spite of Todd, there are many more false conversions. False prophets get plenty of converts to a false ear-tickling message! And, even if there are true conversions through a false teacher or prophet, it is no excuse not to rebuke a false prophet or false teacher for their falseness. If this was not true, the early church would have been commanded to unite with the false instead of remove themselves from it. And they would not have been commanded to weed out the leaven and to vigorously contend with men like Todd who are deceived and decievers.
would you throw open the window and yell, “That child – save that child!”
What about the importance of watchmen saving the child from wolves like Todd? Yet when we watchmen open up the window and yell save the child, we are told we are not being loving! Hypocrits!
Please. Our mission is to save the lost. Period. Everything that is happening at Lakeland is to that end.
No it is not, and even those at Lakeland no this is not what it is really about. Who is Todd trying to kid? It is actually about money.
You may not understand some of the things that you see. It may be out of your paradigm or traditional way of thinking, but trust that if God didn’t want this to happen that He is more than capable of shutting it down single-handedly without the help of man
Notice yet again the suggestion those that doubt or criticise Todd do not ‘understand it’. We understand it is false!
You may not understand some of the things that you see. It may be out of your paradigm or traditional way of thinking, but trust that if God didn’t want this to happen that He is more than capable of shutting it down single-handedly without the help of man
God is more than capable of stopping anything. And He will. But he allows sin to remains – does this mean by Todd’s logic that sin is Ok as if it is no of God it will stop it? How ridiculous. The church should not tolerate sin or falseness. They should do THEIR bit to deal with it. You don’t just let this be and let it get on with it unrebuked. Todd wishes!
If you saw a child being abused before your eyes, would you let it continue, as ‘if it is not of God, God will stop it and shut the abuse down?’ Of course not! And would anyone say you were being ‘religious’ and ‘unloving’ for jumping into save the child? No, nobody but the abuser would say such a thing!
Jumping into rivers of condemnation, disapproval, even censure before experiencing things for yourself could make you responsible for the loss of the one who may have come to the Lord but for quick judgments or criticisms. God is doing new things! Church history should never be used as a blueprint for experiences or beliefs, that’s what the Word of God is for.
Ah, there we go again, if you have not experienced it you cannot knock it. Jesus did not ‘experience’ sin but he knocked it!
Jumping into rivers of condemnation, disapproval, even censure before experiencing things for yourself could make you responsible for the loss of the one who may have come to the Lord but for quick judgments or criticisms.
If Todd does not like censure, why is it that the only place one sees two sided arguments about this ‘revival’ is on sites like this? His sites ban anybody immediately who so much as says ‘do you test the spirits’. He is the only one afraid of the truth. We are not.
Jumping into rivers of condemnation, disapproval, even censure before experiencing things for yourself could make you responsible for the loss of the one who may have come to the Lord but for quick judgments or criticisms.
Note his colourful language of the critics, and again the assertion that they are ‘quick’ to judge (and therefore wrong in their assumption as they have not been there). Note too the manipulation and the fear tactics – if you dare say that I am false, somebody may not come to the Lord because of it. How manipulative, and also how untrue! These are not the words of a man of God but a man of the devil who does not want to be exposed. They are not the words of a man who cares for souls, but only the words of a man who cares about one soul – his own (but not enough, as he sold it to the devil and is stupid it enough to believe the lies Satan told him). They are like the words of a cult leader. They are controlling, they are abusive, they are threatening.
This move of God may not fit your perception of revival, especially if you are basing it on previous revivals, or even on the traditions of the Church. So too, I likely don’t fit the mold of the traditional evangelist. Jesus used the Pharisees’ disapproval as an opportunity to teach why it was important that He didn’t fit into their mold. First, He used the metaphor of the patched garments and said “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old” (Luke 5:36). To try to attach a new, unshrunk garment to the old will not only tear and destroy the new but also the old won’t look right and will eventually tear again. Jesus contrasted the old and new again with a parable about new wine and old, saying that if a person pours new wine into old wineskins the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out, and the wineskins would ruin (Luke 5:37, 38).
Todd is not like a new patch or new wine, and these scriptures are of course misapplied as they are about the New Covenant and not the Old Covenant. Todd is a false prophet and liar – there is nothing new about that.
However, the condition of the heart is what truly allies us with Him. This I’ve stressed repeatedly in my ministry. The heart changes when someone spends much time with the Lord. This is the foundation of my ministry and my walk with Jesus. From the outset of my salvation, my ministry, and even today, I spend hours in the secret place of His presence. I seek Him and His will for every meeting. My team here at Lakeland knows that several hours of every afternoon; before every meeting, I’m not to be disturbed as I spend time with Jesus.
Note the arrogance and the boasting and the ‘I’m better than you’. Todd claims he spends hours with God – we should believe him because he tells us, just like he tells us he has visions he does not have – and he says he seeks God’s will, YET he repeatedly lies and denies God’s will, and contradicts God’s will and disobeys Him and his heart is full of greed and manipulation. This just does not add up.
Spend time in His presence and you won’t be as resistant to change. You won’t be afraid to be a new wineskin, God’s present wineskin. You won’t even be the same wineskin as tomorrow, because with God wineskins are new and newer. New wineskins won’t limit God or what He can do.
The power of suggestion planting an idea of what God will and will not reveal to us about Todd. If you weigh Todd up by the BIBLE and not just by empty headed soaking (note Todd does not mention using the word here) then he is revealed as false.
I am not afraid of change. Change is desperately needed in today’s church. But not the change that Todd pushes – he is poison as are his impartation, which lead only to more diseases in the long run and a new plague of sicknesses in America and the Western world.
We do not need the new wineskin – as by that the new apostles and prophets mean their new revelation and leadership surplanting and contradicting the word of God. This is not a new age and new era! It is the same wineskin as at pentecost, and I will cling to and embrace the word of God for it is worthy and reliable – unlike Todd.
New wineskins won’t limit God or what He can do.
By that Todd is meaning, will not criticise him!
I asked my staff to remove from our website, articles that are causing such strife and division and deterring the Body from the very real and pressing focus of these last days.
The liar! He removed them because they embrassed him and showed him up! He was told not to mention certain things like Emma again, she was embrassing, and he has since spoken out certain deliberate lies about what he does and does not believe about angel Emma - anything but the truth as an attempt to cover up. The truth is, despite the lies, and the attempted cover ups and damage limitation, Todd is still being shown up across the internet.
I asked my staff to remove from our website, articles that are causing such strife and division
The hypocrit! He is making out he is so godly by doing this! No he only covers up for himself and is looking after number one (clue, that is not Jesus for Him). If his teachings are causing strife and division, whose fault is it? The teacher, I suggest! It is quite simple really. Avoid and do not tolerate false prophets and teachers like Todd. Rightly divide truth and error and kick Todd out of the church arena.
Again I emphasize, it’s good and right to search out the Truth and to discern the spirits
But err, Todd said, if we stop to test it, we’ll miss it, and we should not have to defend the manifestations as they are proof within themselves of the gospel. Todd extols the benefits of extra biblical thinking, preaching ‘greater things’ and ‘new wineskins’. He says we should not test as it would grieve the Holy Spirit and also says it is wrong to apply God’s word to our relationship and experiences and it cannot be demons if we are Christians. And we can trust it is spiritual. And it is better to be alive and decieved than dead and revival is messy and veryone is sincere, and God will put a stop it if it is wrong. And we should not judge. And some people may not get saved if we criticise – blah blah blah, you know.
So Todd did not really say it and Todd does not really mean it either.
it’s also important to do so outside of one’s comfortable box, not mistaking discomfort for discernment
Sly! He is again implanting the idea that critics are uncomfortable because it is outside their box, not because they have spiritually discerned it is demonic and unscriptural. Consider this – it is outside many Christian’s box they can be decieved. But they need to get out of their false box and false comfort zone and wake up!
Realize also, that if you spend time in His presence, in fellowship with Him, and if daily, you put on the full armor of God and spend time in His Word; you’ll be more comfortable erring on the side of extravagance rather than quench the Spirit. A body of believers without the Holy Spirit is a breathless, lifeless body.
So Todd is saying we cannot be decieved if we soak. (Note the emphasis on relationship over the word of God). But the full armour includes the word of God which Todd says is wrong to use to discern or apply to this soaking or relationship.
you’ll be more comfortable erring on the side of extravagance rather than quench the Spirit.
No true and obedient and Spirit-led believer will be comfortable accepting anything without due care and consideration. Only Todd would teach garbage like this. It is quenching the Spirit to accept the false without due care or discernement. It is quenching the Spirit to ignore his breathed and inspired word.
A body of believers without the Holy Spirit is a breathless, lifeless body.
But all true believers have the Holy Spirit and are alive in Christ. Rather here Todd must be talking about another Holy Spirit here and another Jesus (a blasphemous Latter rain one) present only in Todd’s manifestations and words and hotspots and through his impartations. His kind of manifestations make believers ‘alive’ (but really dead) but are not God’s. What a dangerous liar Todd is.
I would say here: A body of believers without the Holy Spirit’s WORDS, or consideration for them, are lost, apostate and decieved.
I am accountable to God, and to those who He has sent to me to speak wisdom into my life and ministry – (I submit to an accountability team that comprises my pastor and spiritual overseers from varying backgrounds and denominations). They have not discounted the things that the Lord has shown me just because they don’t fit the mold of tradition or the old wineskins that some are carrying. The dreams, visions, and experiences that I’ve brought forth have been solely for ministering to the Body of Christ. My experiences have made me even hungrier and more zealous for God. That hunger transfers into a hunger to see others experience what I know to be true. They’ve been substantiated through the Word of God in principle, and accepted and given the go-ahead by my accountability team.
His accountability team includes Denny Cline of Albany Vineyard to which Steve Schulz of the sell-a-false-prophecy Elijah List goes to. Bob Jones and Patricia King include his other mentors. Say no more. The blind and the blinding leading the blind and the blinding. And like I said before, if Todd insists he cannot be decieved and he knows the visions to be true etc etc then why even submit his visions to others scrutiny?! It is rubbish said to try and get people to believe that he is theologically ok and sound really!
I also have an entire department of our ministry devoted to intercession
Do you know these intercessors are intercessors for hire? And besides which, how does that make Todd ‘accountable’ let alone correct in what he says. They are on his payroll, not vice versa.
Certainly, some people may not understand the visions God has given me, just as I may not understand theirs, but I’ll always hold and stand firm on the truths and the promises He’s given me because He lines them up in my life with the Word.
This sounds very pretty but it is blatantly untrue. We understand Todd’s visions only too well – they are false!
We have to be immersed people. I want to be saturated with everything that God has for me – including dreams, visions, miracles, signs, wonders, and everything accessible to me as a child of God in the supernatural realm of His kingdom. I want the same for you, and so does God.
But the thing is what you prophesy, Todd, is not of God, nor are your impartations genuine - so what are you and Bob Jones ’immersed’ in, apart from manure up to your necks?
People may criticize me for my boldness and zeal, for my methods and ways, for my intensity and urgency
Making it up as he goes along. I do not know anybody who criticises Todd for his boldness or zeal, his intensity or urgency. His methods and ways, yes, as they are false and belong to a charlatan and liar.
Walking in communion with God and in the reality of heaven on earth is the distance to aim and reach for but you have to be open to the impossible happening, even if it bursts your wineskin.
What Todd is actually saying here is, ignore the word of God, do not criticise me and go with the flow and enjoy these experiences. It’s all Ok, you can trust me, I am accountable! I cannot be decieved, I spend hours with God and know more than you and am more enlightened. Those who criticise me just don’t understand and are just being religious and will miss it. Go with the new. It’s Ok I promise. And sow a seed to me while you are at it. I am a humble modest man who would not misuse your money and would never lie to you about drawing a ‘modest’ salary either!
God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. For some reason, He’s chosen a bald-headed, red-bearded, tattooed, pierced, imperfect man as an agent for revival.
Nope, an overweight balding, boring looking, bland and blond false prophet decided to restyle himself only a few years ago and get tattoos and piercings – these help deflect the criticism as he says we do not like him because of how he looks. He then decided (with the help of other false prophets and apostles and a television station that love money and false prophets) to invent and then to hype up a false revival for his own agenda. Who says God was involved anywhere?
I pray you can see past my imperfections and gaze at the perfection of Christ Jesus. Break through your old wineskin and into the present one. Trust the wisdom of God and His hand in all of this.
But the Bible commands us not to have anything to do with greedy liars and decievers. Nowhere in scripture are we to ignore the sort of ‘imperfections’ (which are deliberate charlatanism) as are evident in and through Todd. This is not about imperfection, but about a lying false prophet prophesying by lying spirits and handing out decietful and demonic teachings and impartations, and being greedy and manipulative with money. That’s a big deal. Todd says to trust the wisdom of God in this, and by that he means, leave me alone, and let me get on with it! but the wisdom of God in the bible says the opposite - rebuke, contend with, have nothing to do with him, it commands, and mark men such as him.
Trust too what a respected Pharisee advised in Acts 5:38, 39: “And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it – lest you even be found to fight against God.”
The Gamaliel Approach. Should have known that was coming! ‘A respected pharisee’ who was a persecutor and actually publically judged the apostles and whipped them and commanded them not to mention the name of Jesus again! So going by Todd’s standards we should judge him and rebuke him and whip him and command him not to mention the name of Jesus? Yes, that is scriptural! Todd, you hypocrit, the only thing you have in common with Gamaliel is that you HATE the true brethren, just like your father, the father of lies. And you aim to silence them just the same.
I understand that people have questions, and God understands too!
Err, yeah, but how about honestly answering these questions instead of evading them, ignoring them, throwing up diversions, putting other spins on them, directly lying and contradicting yourself? Is that too much to ask?!!
I invite you to come to Lakeland to see what God has for you, and to see for yourself the mighty and wondrous things that God is doing here.
So ultimately that is all it comes down to for Todd, come and see, come and feel, come and get some! But what about the truth? He cannot even agree with himself, and contradicts himself too many times to count!
And what then also of people like me (there are others too) who claim to see visions that Todd belongs to the evil one? Should these visions not equally be accepted if we are to accept all revelations from God and anything goes as God’s response to us?
Todd includes a 55 page booklet by a Dr Gary Grieg (yes, he made sure it was from a ‘Dr’ so it looked like it must be true) which is about as unbiblical and trashy and contradictory as he is. That and its contents will have to wait til another post though. (Update - Jacob Prasch’s response to Greig’s defense is here)

I have seen the dead raised by just the word of God spoken over them before I ever heard of Todd. You seem afully upset like a very religious person. I’ve seen many things that a child like faith found easy to accept; the natural laws set aside and a super natural applied. Perhaps you could look again in God’s word and find your answers.
This was a long post, but very informative. Miriam, I was wondering if you would give some more explanation on testing the spirits and especially the source.
I understand that nothing can contadict the written Word. Having seen several movie clips from Lakeland I have already seen a lot of unbiblical stuff. But what I would like some more information on is how to test the source.
When you have a vision how do you test it? I have always been taught when God really speaks you just know it. And the ‘knowing’ that the Spirit gives is proof enough that it really is God. (of course it cannot contradict the Bible)
I have read elsewhere on this blog that you talk about asking the manifesting spirit questions such as ‘ have Jesus Christ come in flesh ‘ , ‘ Is jesus christ blood shed for our sins’ and so on. You do this to test them.
But my question to this kind of testing is, how can we know that the spirit manifesting is tellign the truth or not. Could not an evil spirit just say ‘ Yes Jesus Christ came in flesh’ or whatever we ask him. Indeed a lying spitit is a lying spirit and could easily fake thruth?
Do you recomend this kind of testing (asking the manifesting spirits questions) and do you apply it yourself whenever you have a divine encounter?
I am not trying to be critical here, i just want tho know what this is all about. I have never heard or read anything about this kind of testing before.
I hope you understand the point i am trying to mae, despite my poor english.
Whew~ How long did that take you Miriam? I do believe what you did here was necessary. His followers are posting this all over the internet to prove how Christian and how biblical he is and they don’t even stop to look at what is written with any objectivity.
I believe a cult is being cultivated right before our very eyes. TB is the spokesman for the idea that God is giving supernatural revelations through visions, dreams and angelic visitations as well as third heaven visitations.
The primary characteristic of a cult is that it depends on revelation outside of the Bible AND/OR depends on one person’s private interpretation of the Bible. The Mormons have Maroni, JW’s have Rutherford/Watchtower and SDA’s have EG White and this cult has TB and all the “apostles and prophets” with their authority and secretly received revelations from God.
Without discernment the letter TB posted is seen as Biblical and of God. With discernment what he really means and what he is really saying becomes evident. All that is left is the attack on the doubters and critics.
Thanks for the good works.
BB
WOW! This is quite impressive! I’m sure this took you quite a while to complete. I have to admit there are parts I skimmed over or skipped. Thanks for your thoroughness.
Todd is not like a new patch or new wine, and these scriptures are of course misapplied as they are about the New Covenant and not the Old Covenant.
The scripture twisting to arrive at the ‘new versus old wineskins’ nonesense has been REALLY annoying me of late. Thanks for clarifying for the benefit of other readers.
One thing I’d like to note. In Matthew 12:9-13 — the man with the shriveled hand. Isn’t this a biblical example of restoring a limb? Certainly the man’s hand was ’shriveled’ and then he, at Jesus’ command, ’stretched it out and it was completely restored’ sounds as though it was somehow smaller than the other.
I would like to see any of the modern day ‘healers’ do that!
Todd Bentley needs a concordance. The verse “The Spirit testifies to our spirit” is a prime example of what Toddy boy doesn’t know because he is not even a Christian. Spirit — both Holy Spirit outside of us and the spirit inside of us has to do with our rational seat, our vital principle our seat of REASON.
IT is the Mormons and non biblical charismatics who confuse the issue. They think is about a feeling — our feelings don’t witness to anything. In fact, Moses warned the Jews about this problem:
2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
4 Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Moses here is talking about the problem of signs and wonders. They are a temptation to idolatry, because the things the natural eye “sees” are not the things of the spirit. This
is why we are to walk by faith, not by sight. And not to put our trust in false signs and wonders.
This lack of true spiritual “perception” is what Moses is complaining about. The people have fallen into temptation
to worship idols — because they fail to perceive it is a loving God who gave them the miracles they have seen.
It is an evil generation that seeks a sign — because what
can be manifested, what can be seen with the natural eye
does not lead one to a deeper understanding of their sin,
or their need for God’s salvation.
This is what the Toronto Blessing and Lakeland are wrong about. It is why they are a new Mormon Satanic cult: Where is the Cross? The cross Jesus calls us to bear daily as we follow Him? Where is salvation based on what He did for us by taking our place on that Cross? Never mentioned.
God tells us the problem of signs and wonders…. they are a temptation to our flesh because if we get caught up in them, we forget and cannot “see” His true spiritual realm. Lord pull Todd bentley down before he falls on his own face and causes Unbelief to spread even more. Lord have mercy on people caught up in this.
And guess what? Miriam is right. You actually can take any vision, dream, word or prophecy to the Bible and check it against the way the Lord speaks. Even a vision will line up with the Word. This is our foundation.
A cornerstone of this foundation does one thing: it sets all the angles and perimeter and parameters of what the entire building. Christ is the chief cornerstone of the church because of this architectural idea. There is no new revelation because the foundation has already been laid. But that doesn’t mean Jesus is not creative or stuffy. Todd needs to go down, Lord, the sideshow has damaged enough people! Have mercy, Lord!
Good thoughts AriseMyLove. I appreciate you sharing those words of Moses about signs and wonders.
Testing the Spirit requires having Christ indwelling our soul temple thru the indwelling HS. Immediately we know if Christ is in another. If we have to wonder or if “checks” occur in our Spirit, that is the Lord telling us to be careful. What a person says does is not necessarily a full test of the spirit. John didn’t say test the ‘words’, he said, “test the spirits”.
I would expect a “leader” in Christ’s church to reflect His humility and His meeknesss and His loving compassion. There should be a brokenness and constant witness to Christ. A true leader wants people to find Christ, see Christ and hear Christ.
Test the spirit in a man. What are the fruits of that spirit?
Thank-you, thank-you! When I first read Todd’s Defence, I also recognized it immediately as the worst kind of deception. I’m so glad to see someone shine light on what he is really saying between the lines, and may God bring MANY people to this site. He is definitely deceived and deceiving others, and i agree with AriseMyLove that he needs to be brought down! I can’t figure out how so many “Christians” are following him, except that they must be ignorant of the Scriptures, and so God is sending strong delusion because they would not love the Truth. Keep sounding the trumpet! God bless you.
If they were of God they would not be so afraid to be tested against Scripture. They said people would miss the Toronto Blessing if they stopped to pray or test it. It’s still going so what harm would there have been (if they had nothing to hide)?
I suppose that is a silly question. They don’t match up, they are afraid the sheep will find out they are being fleeced! Or worse turned over to wolves.
It strikes me that very little is said in the Bible about feeling or feelings. Obedience to God on the other hand…
Where else has He told us His will but in Scripture?
Arise My Love,
Thanks for your comment. Good stuff.
Miriam,
Good stuff, as usual. But I can’t help wonder if it’s all for naught. I mean, you give a point-by-point, exhaustive, biblical refutation of Bentley, and the first comment that comes from Mary is of the “Hey, I experienced something and all the logic and bible in the world isn’t gonna make me try to discern ANYTHING!” variety.
And then, she has the audacity to tell you to look in the bible. There are none so blind as they who refuse to see.
Andy
Many will not listen, but such is life. But some are listening and Todd knows it hence all these recent PR defences. I get thanking emails every day from people who backed Todd but have seen the light. If just one person is ’saved’ from this, then praise God, it is worth the hard work. Otherwise it can be like burning coals heaped on the hypocrit’s heads. It is worth it.
Why would God call somebody/anybody who has the physical appearence of Toddy to preach? I think the spirit of God would tell Toddy to take off his obscene body paintings and pull the metal out of his ear and chin. Have the looks of a man and not a freak. Where in the bible can you find the word “BAM”. Keep listening to this freak of nature if you wish and I’ll continue to watch his show but God has told me that Toddy is a phony and I’ll keep repeating it. Show me one death certificate where a person has been confirmed dead and raised. God is no respecter of person so I’m asking Toddy to raise my Mom from the dead. She died in 1994 so Mr. Toddy do your thing and raise her.
Amen to that Miriam!
In addition, there may be those who ‘get it’ a bit later who then remember this blog and others and go back for a 2nd look as confirmation of their renewed thinking.
My question to those who believe in this revival and Todd Bentley’s ministry. How can you follow someone who said some months back in a meeting in New Jersey during a period of questions and answers. What about your tattoos?( he got them after being in ministry) His answer was God told me to get them. He sometimes breaks His own rules.
That is contrary to scripture.Psalm 89:34. Todd quotes Malachi 3:6 I am the Lord thy God I change not.If you don’t believe me ask Todd That question and see if he denies it. I recieved that from a minister who was at the meeting. Let him refute that. There are witnesses that heard him make that statement.
How dare you fact check the man of god like this as it is hurtful to belivers in the impartation. What Mr Bently says makes the supernatural forces to create the fire and heal dead people. Soon he will be visiting big cemetaries and the dead will rise to meet him and battle the enemies of the revival. They will be very thankful to him and willing to do whatever to fight the people that tried to keep them in the ground. Then you will be saorry… GodTV will show them marching to victory in every city and CNN and MSNBC and now Fox News too! Todd has shown he has been given the authority to summon the angels to smite bad guys, so you need to watch it. Geraldo will for sure want to show that too. Then it is not just all those the dead people you will have to face, you know? The media will expose you as bad when they see how you have tried to use the bible like a bashing Christian they show on TV and laugh at for being a party-pooper. Todd is a good guy and a superstar now and people will see who is who! He uses the bible only when needed with restraint and not to be boring like an old preacher who is a judgementalist concentrating on hell.
i to am now hearing about a few who dared to look in Gods word and rightly divide it exposing the circus to the south….i personally love the word of God ,i love the truth that God has given us,i am not ashamed…i am not ashamed to say i love the truth MORE than signs and wonders even ones from the Lord and i say that because the truth was and is and will ever be the standard that ALL things will be measured…all things will fade away but the word of Truth will abide forever…with signs and wonders and no truth there is nothing….i have been accused of worshipping the word of God..”in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” John1: 1…Amen
“I have found that many are judging things by what they see or hear in the natural, by their natural senses, to feelings, or without having relevant supernatural experiences themselves.”
To feelings? What does Todd say over and over again in the meetings – “What did you feel? What do you feel? What did it feel like? I feel… ad nauseam.”
I have had many revelations, dreams and ’supernatural’ experiences, but I don’t boast about them, or use them to proclaim my authority or superiority. I believe everything can be backed up by scripture and mentioned or written not just once – by two or three witnesses may every word be established.
I do not judge Todd (or any of these other so-called Apostles and Prophets – the gall of them to name themselves such!) by my ‘natural senses’. I judge them by the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit, and I find them wanting.
Personally, I don’t believe Todd Bentley even wrote that.
Miriam, I don’t know where to find it But Bob Jones apparently had some word a while ago that “the Revival was coming in August 2008″. Jones revised this a few weeks ago, saying, “God is revising His word about revival. It really started in April 2008″.
Miriam. People I know actually believe this Liar. I don’t know where the quote is from, but it went out from the pulpit. It also went out from that same pulpit that we are “Blaspheming the Holy Spirit” if we don’t believe Lakeland is of the Lord.”
Not kidding. A church in Los Angeles. My former church, that I am so grieved over I have barely been able to do much of anything but cry out for the Lord to spare faith.
This is serious delusion, and if people don’t realize it, they are kidding themselves. This is the seriousness of all eternity. Lakeland is a dividing line for who will and who will not have their names written in the Lamb’s book of Life. I am desperate for the souls of my friends. I am trying not to weep as I type.
Lord, show Your HAND! Reveal the TRUTH, O God! We ask that You take off the blinders and Spare Faith, O God! We also pray that You will destroy the ministries that go along with this Apostasy, so that even these ministers might be saved — judgment in this life, O God, is better than the next! Help your people, Lord! Open Eyes! Bless Miriam and this website and everyone who logs in. We need You Lord to DELIVER US FROM EVIL. Help us Lord.
P.S. I forgot to mention that Bob Jones said this because God changed His dates to coincide with the Lakeland revival.
Interesting post. Read it over 2 days to digest the whole thing. I must admit I read Todds letter a few days ago and thought he had shot himself in the foot. Though will everyone please stop going on about his tattoos, they are not an issue Biblically. Remember we are FREE under the new conveant, free to get tattoos, eat pork, wear mixed cloth etc.. or we could go back to the old, maybe women should start encamping outside the house again once a month. Lets keep this debate scriptual.
Are you kidding me Angel Gonzalez?
You are kidding right …
I have posted this before in another thread but will post it again here:
http://www.revivalschool.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=3473246#3473246
Here is an article, by Peter Horrobin, the president of
Ellel Ministries (USA) and International Director of Ellel Ministries, which concludes with: “I have no doubt that the majority of the people who inadvertently get caught up in the world of false spirituality are not deliberately trying to deceive or be deceived. For those who are beginning to ask the hard questions and want a truthful answer, I pray that this article, written in a rightful fear of the Lord, will help them as they seek to exercise discernment.”
This timely article was sent per email to ministries around Holland this past week. It’s been a source of encouragement here for the light that it shines on the present ‘outpouring’.
It’s written with boldness and wisdom, leaving out names but including the signs of the manifestations, so that we can all be on the same page as he is giving all the examples of the current ‘revival’ and the impartation that is being exported around the world.
We’re thankful for this leader who has contributed this valuable and extensive teaching on discernment and his heart of a shepherd warning against deception. (Matthew 24) Giving honour to the Lord and His Word and the truth that will set free from the defeated enemy at the Cross.
“Facing the reality of Mixture in the Church!” – Peter Horrobin
———————————————————–
With the latest outbreak of revival manifestations at Lakeland, people are already asking me questions such as “What is it all about?!” and “Is this really revival?” People are looking for answers. So, are these events straight from the pages of the Book of Acts or are they a subtle variation of new age or even occult practices?
Confusion reigns!
Rather than answer these questions directly, I believe it is vital to put down some important markers to help with the process of weighing and testing such things in the Body of Christ. These are not the casual thoughts of someone who is coming fresh to a new topic, but the fruit of more than twenty years experience of pioneering and teaching in discipleship, healing and deliverance, as the work of Ellel Ministries International (www.ellelministries.org) has been established at many different centers across the world.
In response to previous “revival” outbreaks in North America, many respected leaders took the stand that it’s a mixture – God’s at work, but so is the flesh as well as the enemy. However, instead of exercising discernment and Godly authority to deal immediately with the things that were not of God, most of the proponents of the revival embraced a tolerance attitude towards what was happening.
Some claimed scriptural support for this approach from the parable of the wheat and the tares in Matthew 13:24-43.
Here, Jesus said, let the wheat and the tares grow together to harvest. This was taken as support for a policy of allowing the good and the bad to happen simultaneously, in spite of the obvious danger that people could be deceived into thinking that the Holy Spirit was behind all the manifestations, some of which were, very obviously, not of God! Jesus, however, explicitly stated that the field in which the two crops are growing is the world, not the church. Here, the wheat and the tares must be allowed to grow together until the final end-time harvesting, otherwise many potential members of the Body of Christ will be robbed of the opportunity to decide for themselves and choose salvation.
Applying this parable, out of context, to the church, is like saying that the principle of letting the good and the bad grow together is equally appropriate inside the Body of Christ. This is not true. Nowhere in Scripture can such a view be found or substantiated. As Derek Prince said, “the Bible gives us no liberty to tolerate the incursion of evil into the church.” If you want to know how to handle things in the church, you have to look at the Pastoral Epistles,
where discipleship and a journey towards holiness are the expected norm. Unrestricted freedom for the demonic to
produce manifestations, which are then labeled as the work of the Holy Spirit, will always result in the possibility that even the very elect might be deceived, as Jesus foresaw in Matthew 24.
The fact that God may be doing good things in some people’s lives is not a valid reason for allowing the bad to prosper alongside the good. The counterfeit must always be discerned, exposed and dealt with. Otherwise, in the eyes of the sheep, the bad is validated by the shepherds, as if it is good. That is how deception and counterfeit spirits are given license in the Body of Christ – whether it is the deception of false signs, false miracles or false prophecies, all of which we are warned about in Matthew 24. Jesus began this critical discourse on the end-times with these telling words, “Watch out that no-one deceives you.”
On another occasion, Simon Peter had just spoken out the most amazing, God-inspired, truth about the identity of the Messiah. But when, a few minutes later, the same man spoke deceptive words, Jesus did not validate the error by allowing it to stand unchecked alongside the truth. He immediately took authority over the enemy working through Peter and said, “Get behind me Satan.” And then to Peter, he said, “You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” (Matthew 16:23). Jesus was quick to discern the mixture and did not mince his words in addressing the problem. In doing this he was teaching us an important lesson. This is wholly consistent with Jesus’ teaching in John 15 where pruning of the vine (not undisciplined growth) is the key to fruitfulness. The more prominent and influential a person is (Peter was a very prominent leader), the more important it is to deal with such error, otherwise the leaven of deception will have far reaching consequences in the wider body of believers who look to such leaders for their inspiration.
Mixture in the Church
Which brings us to the title of this article – Mixture in the Church. If Jesus was not willing to tolerate such mixture in the life of one of his disciples, why should we allow mixture to go unchecked inside the Church? Surely we, too, should not only bless and commend whatever God may be doing, but also deal firmly with anything that is from the enemy? Isn’t that the heart of discipleship, as expressed by the senior Apostle Paul to young Timothy? Paul warned Timothy that “in later times, some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” (1 Tim 4:1). Then he said, “have nothing to do with godless myths” (1 Tim 4:7), and “guard your life and your doctrine closely” Most tellingly Paul then says that this will “save both yourself and your hearers!” (1 Timothy 4:16). Paul knew that the sheep would also be affected if deception were to be tolerated in the shepherd or by the shepherd in the church. The gifts of the Spirit include the gift of discernment and this is, perhaps, the most needed gift of all in the Body of Christ today. Myriads of people have written and spoken on the prophetic and healing, but where are the complimentary voices teaching on how to apply Paul’s guidance to Timothy and how to discern the true from the false? Surely God would want the Body of Christ to give equal prominence to the gift that can either validate or raise genuine concerns about the practice of the other gifts? Often, those who have been courageous enough to
speak, even those with a balanced voice, have been dismissed as an unwanted intrusion into what “God is doing”!
How Does Mixture Get In?
The primary sources of mixture inside the Body of Christ are 1) the world in the church, 2) undiscerning and unhealed leaders, 3) false prophecies, 4) ignorance of the enemy’s devices, and 5) lying signs and wonders (supernatural occurrences that have their source in the power of Satan and not the power of God).
1. The World in the Church
The Lord’s Prayer encourages us to pray that the Kingdom of Heaven will come on earth. This is not a prayer for the second coming, but a prayer that Kingdom principles will be the determining factor for the followers of Jesus – the King. But there is another ruler, who reigns over the kingdom of darkness and, because of man’s choice at the
Fall, he is the ruler of this world’s systems (1 John 5:19). Satan’s principles and practices are always at variance with those of God’s Covenant love and His Kingdom. Paul challenged believers not to “give the devil a foothold” in their lives (Ephesians 4:27) and stressed that the battle we are all involved in is not a physical one, but against “the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). Ungodliness opens the doors to the enemy. When so many of the practices endorsed by the god of this world, are left unchallenged in the lives of the citizens of the Kingdom of God, then Satan is given a right to exercise his power in the lives of its members and in the church. Paul warns believers that tolerance of all forms of immorality, occult practices, selfishness, idolatry, drunkenness and greed etc will even disqualify people from inheriting the Kingdom of God (Galatians 5:21). When the world is given license in the church, the spiritual powers of the god of this world are also given license to operate there.
2. Undiscerning and Unhealed Leaders:
All leaders have a responsibility to discern and deal with the work of the enemy – in both their own lives and inside the Body of Christ. When people operate out of an unhealed past they are open to self-deception and deception – and leaders are not exempt from the possibility of being deceived.
As a result they can become an unwitting channel for the
enemy’s influence and can even find themselves battling
with secret issues such as immorality, inner compulsions or
addictions.
And because they are the shepherds, acting as a covering for the sheep, whatever spiritual powers may still be operating in their lives can then, also, influence the sheep. This is especially evident in the lives of people who have been saved out of a rejected, traumatic, broken or abusive past; or have been caught up in the world of drugs, new-age deceptions, witchcraft or even satanic things. On conversion their sins are forgiven, but forgiveness and healing are neither the same nor are they usually simultaneous experiences.
The salvation gift is received in a moment, but the salvation process of discipleship, healing and deliverance has to be “worked out with fear and trembling”. (Philippians 2:12).
We live in a world (and a church) where instant results and solutions are so often expected. This contrasts sharply with the path of patient discipleship – especially of leaders. This is a costly, time consuming but essential process. But if this discipling, healing and delivering process does not take place, untrained character and inner brokenness can remain a hidden source of demonic power in a person’s life, causing everything from ungodly behavior and relationships to bizarre manifestations and off-the-page supernatural experiences.
It can also be the source of false prophetic words and the enemy can work through leaders in this way to cause havoc in the Body of Christ. While there may have been some deliverance of such people following conversion, the woeful lack of discernment in the Body of Christ can lead to a false assumption that it is all done, when, in reality, the journey to wholeness has only just begun! This can be dangerous. Deep damage requires deep healing as well as major deliverance and it is unwise to allow people with a very damaged past to exercise any form of leadership until it is abundantly clear that they have been walking maturely for a significant period of time and are operating under secure and discerning spiritual cover. Some of the most profound healings we have experienced have been the outcome of a journey of discipleship training.
3. False Prophecies:
When a “prophet” proclaims “God said it”, there is rarely any room left for discernment and testing. Such words are usually accepted uncritically by all and rapidly emailed round the world. The prophet gets affirmation, and even acclamation, from the crowds and few people seem willing to ask the hard questions. And those who do are put down with responses such as “If God has said it, isn’t that enough?”
Unfortunately it’s not enough, for there are many verses in
Scripture warning about the dangers of false prophecy. And they are there for a reason. The vessel through which all prophecy is given is fallible and both he and his words need to be tested.
In Deuteronomy 13 a prophet may give an accurate word, but he may still be leading people away from the real truth about God. Amazingly, Scripture does not always commend prophetic accuracy! Psychic powers can parade as prophetic words of knowledge – they may even be right, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are from God. I have seen accurate words being given by a so-called “prophet” while he was inviting donations to his offering. The words were not from God.
Similarly, accurate words of knowledge, about someone’s healing need, can be used to encourage someone to submit to receiving a false anointing.
Ezekiel 13 warns that when prophets say “Hear the Word of the Lord”, they may be prophesying out of their own imagination. Such words are described as lying divinations. Jeremiah 23:16 even tells the people not to listen to what the prophets are saying! For those prophets were filling the people with false hopes, speaking visions out of their own minds.
God said “I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message.” (Jer.23:21). In all these cases the severest judgment of God is spoken out on those who lead the people astray through false prophetic words.
I passionately believe in prophecy – but because I do so, I also want to test a prophetic word and its source very carefully, so as not to run the risk of being deceived. This is not doubting God, and it is being obedient to Scripture. It is in the context of prophecy that Paul commands his readers to “Test all things and only hold on to that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Testing is not a sin. There is a dearth of real understanding about both Old and New Testament prophecy in the Body of Christ.
If the prophetic vessel is unhealed of major issues of brokenness, or still walking in hidden sinful practices, he or she is ripe for exploitation by the enemy and can be open to all the experiences of the new age and the occult, with the resultant prophetic words being tailored to suit the Christian marketplace. I have witnessed many such words, most of which were little different from psychic pronouncements telling people what they wanted to hear.
We should never underestimate a broken person’s inner need
for the affirmation and significance that being recognized as a prophet (or a leader) can give them.
Occult practices deliberately induce such brokenness, so as to release people into the supernatural realms, where they freely interchange with the powers of darkness. The resultant words may excite, but the substance is deception. I listened to one such person describing how he was able to go all over the auditorium, listening to the sicknesses and conditions of the people. These observations then became his words of knowledge. These are not words of knowledge from God, but information obtained through occult means.
4. Ignorance of the Enemy’s Devices:
Satan is a master deceiver. He takes advantage of the sins we commit to gain power in our lives and uses the hurt and bruised soul as a generation point for demonic power. If leaders, especially, do not understand how he operates, they will not be in a position to truly care for their people by protecting them from the devices of the enemy. For example, when people are led to believe that certain demonic manifestations are not demonic, but are told they are from God, they are being conditioned to want whatever that manifestation might be. They then think they are receiving God’s blessing! In reality, transference is taking place and what they have received is a spirit, which is causing the external manifestations, and which has been validated by others as a sign that God is at work.
Deception is complete.
I have no problem with there being physical signs in a person that God is at work in their lives to bring healing or deliverance. I have seen them on countless occasions. But I do have a huge problem with anyone thinking it’s God, when everyone (or at least many people) get the same sign and it is passed around the Body of Christ, and even around the world, like a commodity.
The occult world knows all about anointing, transference and impartation. In the Scriptures an anointing is for service. The passing on of a mantle (as in Elijah to Elisha) is wholly appropriate, but the idea of mass impartation as an experience to be clamoured for is foreign to Scripture. The enemy clones his followers nto “sameness” through such deceptive impartations, so as to make them all do the same things. This is the foundation of many cults and false religions.
But God releases each of his children into the uniqueness of their gifting and anoints them specifically for their individual destiny. When something is described as a transferable anointing, or there are attempts to impart to all and sundry an anointing so that they can take it away and give it to others, you can know that this is very dangerous ground. There is no Biblical foundation for
transferable anointings and mass impartations. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is for all, but the impartation of an anointing from God is uniquely for the person receiving it.
To imply, for example, that if you give into a certain offering, God is going to give you an impartation to deal with your debts, is simply manipulation and deception. Encouraging people in debt, to give what they manifestly cannot afford leads them to believe for something, which in most cases will only end in disillusion. Each individual is accountable for their own choices – that is the protocol of the Kingdom – no anointing can remove accountability for the choices people have made! It is these sort of practices, which are not rare, that are so destructive to the credibility of the Body of Christ and God’s name.
5. Lying Signs and Wonders:
Satan has power and he uses it to great effect. Power is a drug which can even seduce Christian leaders. And when there is an unhealed heart, which gets its affirmation and significance through being a person with power, then the enemy can have a field day through using demonically inspired soul power to put on a very impressive show.
“Minor miracles”, which have the saints reeling, such as alleged gold dust and gold fillings are welcomed as being evidence of a visitation of the glory of God. Anyone who has researched even the fringes of occult power knows there are many deceptive things the enemy can do – even healings. No wonder Jesus warned that in the end times “false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect” (Matthew 24:24). We are living in those days. It is no big deal for a person who is sick with a spirit of infirmity to be healed by the action of a more powerful demon – either by dismissing the spirit of infirmity (demons casting out demons) or by controlling the lower spirit so that it is inactivated for a season.
Such “instant healings” are often proclaimed as miracles. While in such cases people may claim to be healed, their healing is often at the price of more powerful demonic control in their life, which can take them into yet deeper deception.
Healing and Discipleship
Healing, without the discipline of discipleship, leaves people and Churches vulnerable to many deceptive influences. Healing, and not Jesus, becomes their focus. Jesus is not a technique, or a piece of magic, He is a person. When Jesus becomes a power source, outside of a personal relationship in which there is submission, love and obedience, you can be sure that the enemy is on the prowl! On the other hand, discipleship, without healing, forces leaders in the direction of heavy shepherding to control unhealed people! People then lose their capacity to exercise their own freewill. Inside they become weak and have to be propped up by the rigidity of external rules. They then become vulnerable to temptation and it is not unusual for such people to suddenly fall victim to pornography, drugs, an affair or many other things.
Healing with discipleship is the Biblical norm for the Body of Christ. If we elevate unhealed people into positions of power and authority we are putting them into a situation where they become more vulnerable to the enemy’s temptations, increasing the possibility of further deception being released in the Church. All of the above adds up to one thing – a serious lack of discernment in the Body of Christ. Having now ministered to hurting and broken people for over twenty years, we have seen how an unhealed person is vulnerable to deception and to being used by the enemy in many different ways.
But, praise God, we have also seen how, when the Lord truly heals a broken person, whatever their background may have been, that there is a solidity and spiritual strength about them, which gives them inner security, and they have no need to depend on the false to substantiate their life or ministry.
And So To Our Original Questions!
Whilst all the above only scrapes the surface of understanding of deception and how it operates, I pray that there is enough here to help people make their own assessment and answer their own questions about such things when they happen in the Body of Christ.
We do have to be on our guard, for it wasn’t a modern day critic who said, “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you, Away from me, you evil doers.” (Matthew 7:22-23). These are the words of Jesus. They are a daily challenge to my own soul as I seek
to walk in obedience to the Lord in a ministry of discipleship and healing.
A Final Word
I have no doubt that the majority of the people who inadvertently get caught up in the world of false spirituality are not deliberately trying to deceive or be deceived. For those who are beginning to ask the hard questions and want a truthful answer, I pray that this
article, written in a rightful fear of the Lord, will help them as they seek to exercise discernment.
Angel, LOLOL!!!Are you saying Mr. Bentley’s going to summon up zombies to kill all of the people who don’t believe in his ministry? Hoo boy, that’s a new one. Thanks for the laugh anyway.
I was led to read 2 Chronicles 21 this morning. The age of the king struck me as I read this. Is that just a coincidence or something more?
is it a sin to check the words of any man to see if they line up with the truth? how foolish not to..its disobedient not to..why are so many “supporters” of the event in the south bitter and seemingly hateful…”you’ll know them by the love they have for one another”..most of the ones here who are exposing and pointing out the errors by the word of God of those who are deceiving amd being deceived do it in love…its not easy especially when they are attacked as above by angel g.and givin such a hard time about it..at worse we are doubting Thomas’s but not the case here and if we were it was thomas who first called Jesus “my Lord and my God” at worse those who have been deceived and choose to remain…well theres no nice way of saying it..their path can lead to destruction…why not consider what’s being said…check the word of God the standard for all..please i beg you…..in love .John
I just could not resist repeating this comment from Angel Gonzalez for everyone to hear(read) again. “He (Todd) uses the bible only when needed…….” Oh Great! Has it come to that? We only use the Bible (that is, the WORD OF GOD), when nothing else works??
To make you smile! I recently heard some people talking about TB, their comment was that ‘God TV’ is now ‘Todd TV’
If anyone would like a scriptural example of God growing out limbs, here it is.
Matthew 15:31 “Insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the MAIMED to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.”
In the dictionary, maimed is described as “an injury causing the loss or crippling of some necessary part of the body.”
In Matthew 18:8, Jesus HIMSELF clearly defines what maimed means. “Wherefore, if they hand or thy foot offend thee, CUT THEM OFF, and cast them from thee. It is better for thee to enter into life halt or MAIMED, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.”
The bible says they were made whole. What does that tell you? They received back the part that was missing! Praise God, we will see it again!
Arise
Bob Jones has said repeatedly the strongest time for the ‘glory’ will be June 22-July 22, and has also said ‘I do not know why but it came early…’ (Like I am a false prophet but don’t know why I got it wrong!)
‘God TV’ is now ‘Todd TV’
I’ve seen in print ‘Odd TV.’
Miriam,
I wasn’t aware of Bob Jones’ reference to June 22 – July 22; but, I do know that June 22nd is the Summer Solstice — a well-known satanic holiday:
http://www.angelfire.com/empire/serpentis666/HOLIDAYS.html
OH-OH….AngelG is sounding a bit Jim Jonsie(jones) Looks like the starting of a “Kill the Christians that don’t believe the one true word of todd, not GOD!?!” be afraid, be very afraid!?!
Yikes….hope you are joking Angel?????
JESUS IS LORD!!!!
I forgot to add….LOL!
ohhowIloveJesus,
And isn’t Angel doing what the pharisees did? Calling good evil and evil good?
That’s what this whole Todd Bentley movement is all about. Mix in the lies and embellishments and false prophesies and demonic encounters and Todd thinks he is doing the will of the Father but it’s not the will of God the Father but of satan. Good is considered evil and evil is considered good. And where does Jesus tell us He came to usher in a political or religious system that kills and destroys? Wake up people!
Bob Jones knows the sign of Cancer means that the outpouring will continue to spread!
June 22 to July 22. Cancerians seek to capture and to hold; their love is strong and all-encompassing.

Big things are coming up soon, but today you are still in somewhat of a holding pattern. While you wait, you need to be careful not to get your hopes too high — there is still too much up in the air and you cannot count those chickens before you hear them squawking!
I believe the Word says “Judge not lest you be judged” in James 5:9 but nevertheless I just have a few comments. The Word says that the priests were the ones who criticized Jesus because of the signs and wonders that followed him in Luke 23:
1 Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the[a] nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
3 Then Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
He answered him and said, “It is as you say.”
4 So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.”
5 But they were the more fierce, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.”6 When Pilate heard of Galilee,[b] he asked if the Man were a Galilean. 7 And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. 8 Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, BECAUSE HE HAD HEARD MANY THINGS ABOUT HIM, AND HE HOPED TO SEE SOME MIRACLE DONE BY HIM 13 Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, 14 said to them, “You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him; 15 no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him;[c] and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him. 16 I will therefore chastise Him and release Him” 17 (for it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast)
18 And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas”— 19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.
20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them. 21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”
22 Then he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.”
23 But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed.[e] 24 So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested. 25 And he released to them[f] the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
Have we come to such a place in our christianity that when we hear and see someone being healed, delivered, and set free that we immediately try to find fault with the person delivering the message? Why does there always have to be a “demonic force” behind something good happening to someone? I don’t care about the man himself, the Word says we would do the works HE did and even greater in John 14:12!
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Wow!!! I pray that I walk in Christs steps and His will!! It appears that poor Todd is being criticized as Jesus was and he is also being criticized for walking according to God’s Word! I am an educated, rational woman and I have not heard the man speak anything against God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. I have only heard him give God the Glory and all credit to God, NEVER himself.
Regardless of how you or anyone looks at this man I dare to challenge you to lead as many people to God as he has. Do I idolize Todd? NO! Do I admire him because he puts up the constant persecution from the religious people that can’t grasp that God could possibly use someone that looks and acts like Todd? Weren’t the disciples common men too? There is an book by John MacArthur that make the following statements…
The twelve disciples / apostles were ordinary men whom God used in an extraordinary manner. Among the 12 were fishermen, a tax collector, and a revolutionary. The Gospels record the constant failings, struggles, and doubts of these twelve men who followed Jesus Christ. After witnessing Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into Heaven, the Holy Spirit transformed the disciples / apostles into powerful men of God who “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). What was the change? The 12 apostles / disciples had “been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). May the same be said of us!
I hope this doesn’t fall on deaf ears and may God do something supernatural in all of your lives!!!
Toni,
Actually, “Judge not, lest you be judged” comes from Matthew, chapter 7 verse 1.
Of course, that has nothing to do with discerning true and false prophets, as later in Matthew 7, Jesus warns us about them – verse 15 and following. (Imagine that – a Bentley supporter using scripture out of context – what a shocker!)
So, I say, “Twist not scripture, lest ye be like Satan”
Oh, and Michael (comment #35) – I love all your stuff, especially ‘Pleasant Valley Sunday’ and ‘I’m Not Your Steppin’ Stone’.
Bob Jones knows the sign of Cancer means that the outpouring will continue to spread!
And, just like a cancer! lol
When I scanned the letter at the Fresh Fire site earlier today, the first thing that came to mind was “Babble On.”
And though there is a lot of reference to God and Jesus, not once is there a declaration that Jesus is LORD, because no one can say that except by the Holy Spirit.
“You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder.” ~ James 2:19
On a personal note, it makes me nauseous when people compare criticism of Todd the Fraud to what was endured by my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. And it makes me angry when they cheapen His sacrifice on the cross for my sins by declaring glitter and plastic as signs and wonders.
Be thankful He is a God of mercy, but do not be mistaken – He is also the Lion of Judah. And He will roar.
I thank God has made me deaf to this distorted version of the truth , by showing what true revival is like.
These “charismatics” ministers of today have little in common with Jesus and the apostles , or with true Revivalists who preached Jesus and Him crucified and holiness and commitment to the Lord’s way. Have these super guys of the Elijah list ever given (at least once) a profound message of repentance and holiness that pierce the hearts ? Nope !
And what have these meetings in common with the God of holiness and grace ? What would Jesus do if He was in Lakeland ? Think about it. An adulterous generation looks after signs and miracles….nothing new under the sun
12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside
1 Cor 5:12 (NKJV)
And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?
1 Cor 6:2-3 (NKJV)
Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.
1 Cor 10:14-15 (NKJV)
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
1 Cor 14:29 (NKJV)
We are not to judge?
Paul says the opposite. In certain circumstances we ARE to judge.
We are to judge prophecy and preachers words, even his.
We need to be sure about the man before we decide if his works are good or evil.
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matt 7:17-20 (NKJV)
Note. miracles does not equate to fruit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Gal 5:22-23 (NKJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: …., outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, …, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God
Gal 5:19-21 (NKJV)
When we watch Todd Bently which list does his fruit/works look more like?
If the fruit is bad, the source of the miracles must be bad too. Healings are not all from God. It amazes me Christians are so gullible as to think otherwise.
If there is any doubt. Does a gentle, kind, loving, peaceful, self controlled man kick women in the face or knock people’s eeth out? I think not.
Toni
When Todd walks in God word then it can be said poor Todd being critized as Jesus was, but as long as he LIES ,spews out twistedand selfing takes on scripture and does not preach the word of God (repentence, blood of the cross, victory over death, only thru Jesus can salvation be gotten, Christ being the only begotten son of God,and the scriptures being the inspired written word of God)then he brings the cries of watchmen on himself. The fact that he claims for mentors the people that he does destroy any hope of creditbility. The only ones I feel any sympathy for are those that in their zeal to get closer to God have gone to chasing signs and wonders and left the scriptures and truth at the door They have left themselves open to whatever he imparts on them to manifest its ugly head later on down the road. Check the history on his mentors “revials” and the doctorine they now promote then find this in scripture. The great falling away is starting and Lakeland has front row seats.
should of read self serving takes
Excellent thoughts Eve. I like the point you made about the fruit. That is indeed what our Lord told us to use to judge a false prophet.
Chaya makes a good point also about not hearing “Jesus is Lord” on his website.
Thanks brethren.
Mr. End-Time, I have one question? What is behind the need to warn us all. When you really hate someone as much as your writings about Todd reveal, I look alittle deeper. I picked up the sentense from you “I understand all too well. That is why I warn” But warning with anger and hate is a personal thing I hear in your words.
We have a chrisian church full of people that are physically sick, men and boys addicted to porn. and prescription drugs, our god is money and we worship being entertained and of course we are obsessed with sex. And we all sit in our churches and bible classes on our way to heaven because one day we said a few words. Something about Jesus coming into our heart. And then we were given some material for new christians and told we were now a new creation. Look at all of us in 1, 10, 20 years later. We are a very sick church, looking all fine to each other on Sundays with most of us hiding the torment on the inside. But it is all okay if we can still quote our bible verses and serve in the church.Does THIS matter to anyone anymore??? WHO is lieing to WHO. I really think we are all lieing to ourselves. We’re fine aren’t we??? we REALLY are christians and going to heaven. YEH RIGHT!!!! You probably won’t print this, because it is not written for or against a man named Todd.
I just have observed a very, very sick church. Oh, with lots of programs, that don’t seem to help the majority of us. YOU THINK!!!!! Some one please comment…. From a very concerned pastors wife
What’s your point, Sharon?
I too say it is a sick church obsessed by materialism. I do not just write against Todd – he did not create all the weaknesses in the first place, but like a vulture he feeds off them.
Are you saying because the church is sicker she should get even sicker by being revived by a liar and fraud who leads to other gods? I do NOT hate Todd but I hate what he does and the lying spiritis he operates by – don’t you?
Why are you so upset with me for stating the truth that Todd is a liar and distorts scripture for his own ends?
Would you have a problem with me if I wrote such an article about mormonism and Joseph Smith? If not, why the difference?
End time and Sharon: First, end time, you never really responded to Sharon, did you? Secondly, anyone can dig up negative stuff on anybody else. It’s not that difficult. The fruit of any ministry is evident also for anyone to see. I don’t know Todd Bentley, but I spent four days checking out the revival and seeing for myself there in Lakeland at the Civic Center. What I found was thousands of people worshipping God with all their hearts for hours on end. I found myself repenting and being humbled by the awesome presence of God. I lived for Satan long enough in my younger days to know the difference between the presence of God and the presence of a fraud. You may not understand it, but God is (for His own reasons) using Todd Bentley. I’m not promoting him, but I do see that God has been using him. I saw that in the fruit of thousands upon thousands of people getting right with God, including my own son, who was with me at the revival. You have placed judgment on things you evidently do not fully understand. If we knew all of your weaknesses endtime prophet, would you have any skeletons in your spiritual closet? I imagine so, as we all do. The difference is that you are not out there leaving yourself vulnerable to these types of attacks. We do, absolutely need to try the spirits, use wisdom, and check ministry by the Word of God. When you do, you find that what is happening in Florida is pretty much what happened in Jesus ministry as well as Peter, Paul and others. Do you have a problem with miraculous happenings that glorify Jesus Christ, and lead people to repentance?
sorry but I don’t remember Jesus or Peter or Paul ministry being based on lie after lie after lie. I’m not talking about his past as that is between him and God but the fruit coming out of Fla now.
Amen Tim and Sharon!
I love Todd Bentley. I do not question anything he says as I do not want to, and also God would not let him lie to me or let me be led astray. This is not ugly but beautiful – all I see is light, not darkness! A man of God would never lie to me or do anything wrong!
It feels so very good for me, it must be right and I love God so much more. I feel tingly at Todd’s word and burn. I spend so much time now soaking, I do not even have time to read the Bible anymore – but that was pretty boring and never made me feel this good – this stuff is cool and exciting and has renewed me.
I am so on fire for God now, whoeever God is, as we must all think outside our box now for the new paradigm. I have so much more light now.
So what if Todd lies, everyone lies sometimes and Todd is an anointed man of God who God uses powerfully. You critics only dislike him because he has tattoos. Criticism is not biblical but I can criticise you as you say something I do not like to hear.
I do not care if Todd does contradict YOUR scriptures as that is outdated stuff and I want the new thing which is so much better than the old. Stale old manna needs to be chucked away to be replaced by Todd’s word. You are all just jealous.
I lurve Todd! I keep seeing a luminous angel at the revival, who says his name is Lightbearer. He said for me to listen everything Todd says, and recieve from him, so I do. You all are disagreeing are all religious pharisees and will be judged by the righteous men of God’s swords when the apostles take their rightful place on earth as it is in heaven!
my heart breaks for you blindinglight. it is quite evident that you have thrown Gods word to the ditch
Sharon,
You make some good points about the sorry state of the church in America, few would disagree with it. The question is, how did we get like this?
During what is called the second great awakening, Charles Finney had a ministry that in a lot of ways resembles Todd Bentley’s today. He too tried to ‘manufacture’ revival, and he also told his critics that they should look at all the wonders and people being saved, etc. He introduced the anxious bench which is the forerunner to the idea that one can ‘ask Jesus into their heart’ and automatically go to heaven.
His critics at the time sounded much like the critics of Todd today, warning people that NO GOOD FRUIT could come out of such bad teaching. But Finney and his followers ignored those who valued biblical accuracy, and – just like Bentley’s mob today – talked glowingly about ‘wonderful excitements’, etc. going on in Finney’s revivals.
Unfortunately, history and Finney’s own words show us that not only wasn’t there a great move of God, but Finney’s supposed revivals did a great deal of harm in the long run. Most of those who were supposedly saved, etc. fell away and became hardened against Christianity – and all this is by Finney’s own admission later in life.
The point is this Sharon: Fake signs, counterfeit revivals, and false teachers can cause a great deal of suffering to the body of Christ. I believe almost all that you said about what calls itself the church in America is true.(The REAL church is fine – but it’s only made up of Christ’s true followers – not those who show up Sunday mornings)
But one of the main reasons that it got this way is that men and women of God have refused to stand up against false teachers in the past, and have embraced every new wave of doctrine that came with a flashy and fleshly production team.
I see it this way, if we don’t stand up and warn Christians about Todd Bentley, you’ll be writing another post in 10-20 years wondering how the church got even farther off track. And one of the reasons will be that no one stood up to defend the true gospel against the likes of Todd Bentley.
I can’t speak for Miriam (It’s Miss End-Time, not Mr.), but I think that’s part of our reason that we ‘need to warn us all’.
davidw,
Blindinglight is being sarcastic!
I especially like:
I keep seeing a luminous angel at the revival, who says his name is Lightbearer.
Lightbearer = Lucifer
He said for me to listen everything Todd says…
Yes, Lightbearer and Emma since Emma = embrace everything.
Can, you tone down that light Mr. Angel I’m having a hard time seeing…
egg on my face. didn’t pick up on it at all. am about done reading about todd as it is begining to manifest itself in my own life. the church we attended has taken the stance of todd or be gone. unreal how this is splitting churches ,marriages and famlies. will take to the wilderness to regroup and recommit to Jesus. will pray that we can find a real church in awhile to grow and do the Lords work and will. need to take the time to really study the word as God gave it and not with a groups spin on it. to strive to be a humble servant and berean. watchmen keep sounding the warning, there is still time to save some of those being led astray.
must be Tuesday in the UK . still Monday 16th in the States
will take to the wilderness to regroup and recommit to Jesus. will pray that we can find a real church in awhile to grow and do the Lords work and will. need to take the time to really study the word as God gave it and not with a groups spin on it.
Sorry to here of your church being overrun. I think if you focus on Jesus, you’ll find the right church. I’m currently without a church myself although I keep in fellowship with other believers and attend a one night a week group at a church (it will never be my home because of the word/faith, prosperity gospel and Latter Rain remnant in the pulpit).
Our small group, which is not affiliated with any church, is getting ready to study Colossians verse by verse after reading its history and reading the entire letter once through as was originally intended. I plan on going back to the Greek via either studylight.org or crosswalk.com and using some commentary from both to dig deeper into it.
IMO, you don’t have to belong to a church ‘building’ to belong to the ‘church.’ However, I would suggest that only as a temporary thing, if possible.
That would be Defense – not Defence.
Sorry it’s the teacher in me.
Lee,
Have you ever heard of Andrew Wommack? He is THE BEST Bible teacher I have ever heard. He has a website, http://www.awmi.net with so much free teaching on it. Go to his Bible Commentary section for Colossians to aid you in your study of the book.(letter) Don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself. I notice Miriam doesn’t have anything on her blog about him. Wonder if she knows who he is or what he teaches. One of the teaching series that I learned the most from is “The True Nature of God” A real eye-opener.
Edie: I have heard Andrew Wommack’s name but cannot recall what he is about so would have to read upon him to comment.
is this person blindinglight serious?hard to believe someone could say “I do not care if Todd does contradict YOUR scriptures as that is outdated stuff and I want the new thing which is so much better than the old. Stale old manna needs to be chucked away to be replaced by Todd’s word. You are all just jealous.” todds word?-whats that?…of course anyone can write whatever they want and for any reason up here…with a name like blindinglight and to say all that rubbish must be a sick joke, real sick.
I think Bible Answer Man’s Hank Hanegraaff answered a question about Todd Bentley a day or so ago; Hank thought he was false also.
http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Bible_Answer_Man/
Kindof off topic, but Edie, I’m not sure what to make of AWommack. I checked out his school, & was NOT impressed (one of his teachers constantly ridiculed other Christian denominations. It’s cool to state differences, but to slam other believers.) Some say he’s a Word Of Faith teacher:
http://www.christiandiscussionforums.org/v/showthread.php?t=69874
(& google the words “Andrew Wommack” false). I’ve listened to a few MP3s & found them insightful & able to be backed by the Bible.
Andrew Wommack has connections to the Word of Faith movement.
From the following link on his website:
http://www.awmi.net/extra/article/power_partnership
“The Lord began to convict Charlie and Jill of this, telling them that they needed to start giving to ministries that fed them and had an anointing they needed. It was time to start partaking of the blessing and anointing that was on the lives of other ministers. In response, they began giving to people like Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Joyce Meyer, and me, all ministers who were imparting anointing and blessing to their lives.”
Edie,
Yes, I’ve seen Andrew Wommack on TV about a dozen or so times a while back. Since it was in the morning and I was usually about half awake I can’t remember anything specific; but, he seemed to be pretty solid biblically. I checked out his site; and, I will look more closely at his teachings.
However, I am a bit concerned at his zealousness to be on TBN. I will never forget Paul Crouch nodding in approval as Benny Hinn asserted that all Christians are little gods on a snapshot between programming on TBN. Perhaps Andrew wishes to be light in the darkness on there which may be a good thing. I dunno. There are some good programs on TBN; but, these do not outway the BAAAAAD.
Lee
thanks.we are looking for the church that is not a “building”.that is one of hardships is not having the support of a church family. there will be several other families leaving over this so we may be able to stay connected while we search.your study sounds awesome enjoy
Hey Lee,
I don’t know if you saw the article that Miriam had on here titled “The Colossian Heresy” but I thought it was an excellent read and might be very helpful for your study.
Miriam,
Which number is it listed under?
Mark 9:39 states
“But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.”
My wife and another women from our Church went to Lakeland from Ohio to see for themselves about the revival. They saw and had Supernatural manifestation happen to them while they were there. Just one I will speak of is it actually rained (actual droplet’s) on them while they were praising God. They had heard of Todd Bentley, but really did not know much about him.
From what I’ve seen from the service my wife was at (watched on God TV) Jesus is lifted up as our MIGHTY KING. He is praised and worshiped. His Blood is adored, His Spirit is poured out. The devil would not and could not do that. Is the devils power greater than God’s? A house can not be divided and stand. The devil hates the blood, he hates that Jesus is King of ALL kings, he is jealous of the praise that Jesus receives. he hates the Holy Ghost and the power He gives out to God’s children. The devil is ANTI-CHRIST!
Check your spirit; don’t be afraid of the Holy Ghost. JESUS WILL NOT LOSE!!! Don’t let darkness creep in and whisper negative things in your ears about people who lift up Jesus….no matter how they look! The four services that my wife went to has changed her forever. She is on Fire for Jesus. She can’t stop lifting Jesus, thanking Him for His Holy Spirit and Adoring the Father. Unless you have went to the Lakeland services, don’t be so quick to judge and speak badly about the revival. It might not be what you think a revival should look like, but it seems to be lifting Jesus up.
Dear Blindinglight: Your statement is extremely biblical, IMHO. That’s what we ARE after, correct, biblical truth? Marriages being restored, people coming to Jesus and finding Him as their Savior. People worshiping God with all their hearts, and turning away from backsliding. But, yes, I find your statement biblical. Here is the reference:
John 9:23-25
23That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God,[a]” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”
25He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
Todd Bentley is a sinner. He is a liar. He is a fraud, as much or more than any of you who live in judgment of others.
By the way, revival, restored lives, people coming to repentance, etc. has been happening in our church since I attended the Lakeland revival. You should know that I don’t talk about Todd Bentley, I don’t promote the revival, tell people to go there, or shout the praises of Todd Bentley, but God touched my life deeply there, and when I returned the first thing that happened in our church was that one of the youth of our church came to the altar area during worship and repented publicly for “hating” God. She wept, cried, and then rejoiced in the Lord for a long period of time, as Jesus restored His love in her. But hey, we sure don’t want people to know about good fruit now do we? Do we?
Marilynn: Defense = American spelling, Defence = British spelling (also Canadian)
Sorry, it’s the Canadian in me
Blindinglight: I know you were being intentionally sarcastic to get a point across but what is really sad is that I had a friend (I say had because she refused to have anything to do with me once I dared to suggest that her pastor might be deceived about anything in any way) whose statement to me so closely mimics what you are saying (especially the first paragraph) that I had a bit of a stretch to catch your sarcasm (I know she was being completely serious). As absolutely ludicrous as your statement comes across, it is in fact very sadly a pretty good reflection of the attitude of so many caught up in deception within the church. From an outsider’s standpoint, it seems absurd, but to those in the thick of it, such willful blindness somehow has an appearance of being logical and even spiritual, though I have yet to figure out how…
Let me start with saying I am not anti-lakeland. I am a charismatic Christian who has been through this many times over the past 15 years. I have yet to get a response to my request for documented evidence of even one dead man raised from the dead as claimed. I am open to believing the same evidence that Jesus clearly provided to anything he did.
Thanks for your post. I have felt convicted to share the truth in this matter, having been involved with many of the “revival” antics over the past 15 years. Countless people who I know who attended also are today empty and not healed. To make matters worse, the so-called “enlightened” ones spew guilt on those who do not believe this show, blaming it on our lack of faith.
After posting to numerous blogs which spew this nonsense (in a kind, scriptual manner), my comments are immediately removed and I am blocked from commenting. How is that for allowing discussion of something they say is of God? Yet any dissent is immediately removed to keep their believers in the dark. Can you say cult?
God save us.
My wife, Sharon is more gentle than I. Bascally most of the posts on this site let me know that y’all wouldn’t know a revival if it jumped up and bit you on the concordance. This whole thing in Lakeland and the rest of the World isn’t about any one man or any prophet or any orginization. If you are focused on Todd Bentley then you have your eyes off of Jesus. I traveled to the Brownsville revival 3 times and it would still be going if the religious spirit of denominationalism hadn’t messed with it. What is the definition of revival or outpouring? Do the theologians that you worship have an idea what an appropriate move of God would look like? I presume that one of them would lead it and it would be neat and orderly. The only Christians who are decieved are the ones who think they can know God just by reading His logos. Heb.4:12 tells us that the Word of God is alive and discerning right down to the bone. Jesus is the Word, not your Bible. The Bible is His words and they are multidimentional just like Him. You can be a Bible student or you can be a disciple. Or you can learn to be both. Knowning God is caught not taught. Jesus loves me this I know not because the Bible tells me so but because I feel and know his love personally. You don’t have to respond to this post because I will not be on here again. I need to be about my Father’s business not throwing stones at people I don’t know or understand. Also, Bill Johnson of Bethel Church in Redding Ca. is far and away the best teacher of God’s word in the country. I challenge anyone of fair mind to listen to 3 of his podcasts on ITunes and not believe me. God created our mind and wants to RENEW it! He also created our FEELLINGS so that we could embrace Him and others with more than intellectual understanding. David said, “my heart AND my flesh cry out for the living God” You “word only” people are the most deceived in Christianity and you are going to miss what God wants to do with your life. Can you imagine trying to love your wife through letters only? In His love
Pastor Randy

Here is one that is in favore of Mr. Wommack.
Just FYI:
The Etymology of the name Emma in Hebrew is “Healer”
the etymology of the name Todd is “fox, or fox hunter”
My take on Todd is that he is an earnest guy, really hungry for salvations, healings and the things of God who has been discipled by people who I think imparted a wrong spirit, and teaching, etc. I really don’t think he intentionally lies. I think he does not have a good foundation… I think we need to pray for all involved.
Speaking about deceptions, false prophets, etc… I don’t know much about Bob Jones, but before I knew ANYTHING about him, I could not bear to hear him speak… I had reactions in my spirit. Then I looked into him and I got understanding in my spirit. I fear for these men leading others to deception.
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. What a shame that the only group showing forth power, healing, encouragement, etc is seemingly of the second heaven, and not the third. I weep.
Todd Bentley gives glory to Jesus Christ. If any of your pastors healed someone instead of just preaching about it, then they’d better watch out, because with comments like these, half their congregation would leave. He’s filled with demonic spirits, they’d say. As someone who has actually watched the revival meetings and finds it absolutely necessary to discern spirits, I must say that the critics comments are wrong. Todd has not lied, or misled anyone. He preaches from only the Bible, commands EVIL spirits, cancer, sickness, & diseases to flee in the name of Jesus. Just like the apostles. It is clear that the criticism he is receiving shows that he truly is a man of God because if no one were criticizing him, then true Christians would really need to be concerned. Has anyone noticed that its not just us weak-minded American Christians with our cushiony gospel message that are at these meetings? People from over 200 countries are watching and 40 countries attending these meetings. People without our heritage, our cultural, or theological biases. People who have seen the hand of God work signs, miracles, and wonders, in their nations are attending and rejoicing together. Because after all the body of Christ comes from all nations, tribes, and tongues, not just the western world. My prayer is the same as Jesus’, that instead of there being division in the body, that the church would be one as He and the Father are One. Let God be true and EVERY man a liar. And we will know them by their fruit. God bless you, people of God.
to randy…does God want to kick me in the face? is that what God wants to do with my life?does He want to throw backwards to the floor and put me in an animal like state?does He desire to make his churchs disorderly and a mess when He says NOT do to this?does God lie?…no He says “let God be true and EVERY man a liar”live by Gods word or go by your feelings?…i’ll say it a thousand times…one false prophecy makes one a false prophet, false teaching(not ignorance or a simple mistake)makes one a false teacher…i guess your ok with that right randy?God is testing us..pass or fail randy?
servant,
Yes, I did see the excellent “The Colossian Heresy” on one of the posts here and I printed in out a while back. I do plan on using this in our study.
Another reason I chose Colossians is that I heard a really good sermon by Charles Stanley a few months ago on prayer base on Colossians 1:9-14.
Regarding Andrew Wommack:
I had specifically looked up Ephesians 4:13 and did not like what I found. It sounds somewhat close to Manifest Sons of God doctrine. Here’s one note:
“Note 25 at Eph. 4:13: This is amazing that Paul is proclaiming that Christians should come to the full stature of Christ. That was the design of the Lord when he gave gifts to men (v. 11). This isn’t considered possible by most Christians today and therefore, it certainly is not their goal. However, if this is what the Lord intended, we should at least be striving towards this mark (Phil. 3:14).”
At least he says we should be ’striving towards this mark’ and doesn’t assert that we will get there this side of glory.
However let’s look further. From Romans 8:19:
“Therefore, this verse makes it very clear that the whole creation is eagerly and intensely anticipating the day when the glory of God that is already deposited within God’s saints (see note 1 at Rom. 8:18, p. 797) will be revealed. That day won’t completely arrive until the second return of the Lord. but it is logical to think that creation rejoices to some degree every time some saint manifests His glory here on this earth.
Note 3 at Rom. 8:19: The Greek word “ktisis” was translated creature in verses 1921. This same word was translated “creation” in verse 22. It literally means “that which is created.”
Note 4 at Rom. 8:19: The American Heritage Dictionary defines manifestation as, “the demonstration of the existence, reality, or presence of a person, object, or quality.” You cannot manifest something that does not already exist. As the apostle John said, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be . . .” (1 Jn. 3:2). We are already the sons of God. This is not something that has yet to transpire. The whole creation is waiting for us to manifest what is already in us (see note 1 at Rom. 8:18, p. 797).”
He’s definitely not advocated MSoG doctrine with this; so, I’m gonna check him out and as with any teaching be sure it lines up with the whole counsel of God.
Quote from Blindlight” I do not care if Todd does contradict YOUR scriptures as that is outdated stuff and I want the new thing which is so much better than the old. Stale old manna needs to be chucked away to be replaced by Todd’s word. You are all just jealous.”
Did Blindlight really write that she doesn’t want the outdated stuff, ie. the word of God and wants them to be replaced by Todd’s word????? She or he is putting Todd Bentley on the same pedestal as God and treating his word as the Bible itself. Now that’s disturbing, very disturbing.
Wow!, how sad some of these comments are to me. Jesus taught and spoke of unity, love, peace, gentleness, etc. I personally went to Lakeland and the atmosphere itself was charged with unity in praising God and lifting up Jesus. It was amazing I met people from all over the world and we were all hungry for more of Jesus, this wouldn’t have to be if the church wasn’t so divided and not only taught but also DID what Christ Himself did while He was on the earth. I believe there is a spirit of jealousy in those who do not believe what Todd B. is doing. I don’t lift him up at all, I met a very humble man who only wants to GIVE THE GLORY TO JESUS! How can some people be so cruel in their accusations, what are YOU afraid of. Jesus said “The works that I do you WILL also do and even greater.” I believe THE WORD OF GOD!!!!! If you’ve made up your mind that what Holy Spirit is accomplishing in Lakeland is from satan I won’t try to convince you but if your someone who isn’t sure please try to go and experience the manifestation of God’s presence for yourself, I did and it has changed me forever. Wherever I go I can now not only give Christ in words but because of the experience that GOD Himself gave to me I can give Him not in word alone but also in HIS power. I’m not power hungry but I’m giving Christ hungry. I will DO THOSE GREATER WORKS because Jesus said I would and while I was down there HE filled me with His Holy Spirit and power. I will never go back to “church” that is only taught without the power to back up His word.
all of creation is waiting for our redemption when Christs comes,or for the restoration of the earth..is’nt this correct?
Great job Miriam,
Man that is a devotion and a call to true obedience. Thank you.
I would like to take issue with caller #12 who has a problem with Todd’s appearence: I can see God using someone like Todd, tattoos piercings etc. to reach many that the 3 piece powder blue polyestor pastor in patten white loafers can’t get too. HOWEVER they must line up with the Word of God. And if Todd’s tattoos truly have any occultic significance esp. due to the fact that he added most his tattoos well into his ministry…that is way different. But the band leader from the band KORN, heavy metal, and pretty satanic, recently 2-3 years ago gave his life to Christ and brought many converts to the Lord. He is covered in Tats, and has a website Head2Christ.com I believe. Great testimony. So especially in these LAST DAYS God will use anyone regardless of looks …but they must line up with the Word of God. Think about it. Todd’s tats alone keep a lot of people away. Don’t you believe satan will use men that are perfect in appearance and dress and demeanor to decieve EVEN MORE?
Again thanks for the tireless work…Miriam
Jimbob
#80 -cathy… represents one of my feelings on one downside of Todd’s Show. That is once Todd roll’s up the carpets and heads to Africa where will cathy worship? She said she’ll never go back to mainstream church. Is she aware of the devastation that the last “revival” by the same “producers” brought to churches in Toronto? So my thought was once you’ve experienced such ‘chaotic-release’(is that fair?)
how would you ever go back to a regular church? And cathy said she would not. It’s sad because cleary alot of the BAM-omaniacs don’t know the Word as well as they should and won’t get it from Todd, or a church represented by one of Todd’s “producers.” Any bet’s Todd has a following like the deadheads that start following him around the world? This is such an awesome time we are living in and witnessing. Thank you Jesus for the truth that is your Word. The Truth shall set you free.
Pastor Randy,
You are doing like Todd does- taking a doctrine or statement to the extreme. You seem to want to seperate “those that believe in the Word” and “those that believe in a living real God experience”. With all due respect to your pastorship…I would encourage you to teach that everything must be backed up by the Word. If the day of Pentecost looked like a banshee screaming, chicken clucking, snake slithering, howling, jerking, shakefest with the apostles mocking every one…Luke would have acknowledged it so. Giving into seducing spirits, and false spirits, doesn’t make you any closer to God! You and Todd and the rest are building up and expanding upon what the MOCKERS said on the day of Pentecost! The only people in the entire Bible that ever talked about being drunk…in relation to the Holy Spirit… were athiests! Outsiders, not even called Jews. But called “some mockers.” It is their word that you are now “running” with. The Apostles on the otherhand far from drunk…clucking, shaking, or screeching, or having neck spasms from severe head rotation…the last time I saw that was in the Exorcist. Far from “soaking in the glory”…They went to work! Peter gave the most eloquent speech to date of his life…the “drunkards” at a Todd concert can’t even stand up.
Then the rest of the 120 went to WORK. Added 3000 that day.
They did it all through repentence. Do you know that word? I haven’t heard it mention at Toddfest. Revival is all about repentence. Not about feeling good… or dare I say… not even about “feeling close” to God. God comes through Faith which is unseen, and unheard. Your manifestations are very seen and unfortunately very heard. That is NOT EVEIDENCE THAT YOU HAVE CAPTURED GOD as you put it. It is evidence that “those seeking signs and wonders” (which Jesus called a wicked generation)have given in to ‘displays of chaos’, under the guise of ‘the God of Order.’ How does that work?
I would be very weary of execting a “better than the Word” approach to God. Shutting the Book and declaring we are know operating under “a new thing.” God gave us specific guidelines and they are all documented in the Bible. Those that know the Word know God. Jesus said: ” Better yet, are those that read the Word and obey it.” Luke 11:28. I know…it’s boring. It’s God’s Jesus, and not Todd’s Jesus.
you said it grandpa..problem is todds not listening or reading here,he is surrounded by the yes men and the ones who are chasing and following him..i wonder how long it’ll be before he allows people to worship him in some form that he’ll of course say god approves of it-like i said “in some form”…i wonder how long it’ll be?i believe we have’nt seen nothing yet…and not just with todd and company there will be others and in greater numbers…stay in the Word, love the Truth and defend THE Faith and pray, pray, pray.
My wife, comment 80, will have more to say, but I must at least say the following. Jesus stated the following in Matthew 10 verse 7
“7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
My wife and I both believe and DO what Jesus commanded in Matthew to his disciples. Johnboy I’m a little confused about your criticism? Everyone I’ve heard that actually goes to the Lakeland revival is on fire for Jesus. Is that bad? My wife, who teaches and preaches at our Church and is a study freak of the Bible (she knows the word) has been changed forever, no matter what or where Todd Bentley goes. If I understand God, we are the bottles. Jesus is the pourer and the Holy Spirit is the liquid. God has used many different bottles…even a donkey…even Todd Bentley. When Saul thought he was speaking and working for God, he had a BAM experience on the road to Damascus. I love what Jesus said to Saul. Acts 9: 5 “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting”
What if many here are doing what Saul of Tarsus was doing, working against a move of God, but truly believing you are a judgment instrument of the Lord.. Jesus did not ask Saul, “Why are you persecuting Christians?” No, He said why are persecuting Me?” Even if Todd Bentley is doing things for other than the “right reasons”, it does not matter, the message of Jesus, the hope of Jesus, the power of Jesus, the healing of Jesus is what people are receiving at Lakeland and I’m glad to say it spilling over into our Church in Liberty Indiana, we had three saved last Sunday and we prayed for a Pilipino man with a swollen leg to be healed in JESUS name! Test the spirits by fruits! The devil will not promote Jesus and Jesus will not promote the devil.
I stand hear and proclaim that Jesus Christ is LORD!
Apparently there are those who don’t understand what the word “church” in Greek really means, it states in the Greek that “church” means a gathering. I do go to a building but as usual people misunderstand that WE are the church and the church unfortunately has lost being the BODY of Christ. The word body in the “Greek” comes from the word sozo which means to save, to heal, to deliver, etc. I never said I wouldn’t go back to “church” if you reread what I said, I said I wouldn’t go back to church where the word was taught but there wasn’t power to back up the word. How many people go into a building called a church and walk out the same? How many people walk into a church and walk out in the same sinful condition they walked in whether they are sick in body, soul, or spirit, how many people walk out of a “church” still bound by the curse? That is what I’m saying, without the power of God, which was poured out upon the “church” through the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ given through the Holy Spirit people WILL remain the same. Please understand I love the “church” which are those who have accepted Jesus Christ. When is the “church” going to WAKE UP and become the body of Christ, if you claim to be part of the body of Christ then stop being a paralyzed part of the body and allow the power of God to move through you to see lives healed and lives changed and lives delivered and SET FREE from every curse that was brought upon mankind because of the fall. Christ brought back the Kingdom of God to do those good works which we were predestined to do. I’m in love with the church and the entire body of Christ, I pray that people will see that in these days God is pouring out His Spirit upon all. God is making this decision to POUR OUT HIS POWER. I believe He is tired of His children being sick and oppressed. I believe He is ready to see those that He calls heirs and joint heirs with Jesus Christ, walk and give that which we have been commissioned to do, to LOVE and walk in the gifts of Holy Spirit. Please don’t feel sorry for me because since I came back from Lakeland I have seen prayed for people and seen them healed and delivered and come to Jesus in a greater way than before I went, I’m actually seeing the ministry of Jesus Christ flow through me and I’m more in AWE of God now than I was before. Don’t you want to walk in the full ministry of Jesus and do ALL that YOU were predestined to do? I do, and I know that His greater works have only just begun and will grow to a greater degree for any who will believe!!!!!!!!
jim said “Even if Todd Bentley is doing things for other than the “right reasons”, it does not matter” so what if todd bentley is doing things to glorify HIMSELF or maybe to compensate HIMSELF or maybe to lie cheat and steal from those he deceives…i guess it does not matter…you also said everyone you’ve heard that has gone to lakeland is on fire for Jesus…oviously you don’t read anything up here or you don’t do any research and you only want to hear (selective hearing i suppose)the things you want to hear…its easy to listen to someone say “god just told me this or that” and without even concern take it all in hook line and sinker…also you test the spirits by the Word of God not only by the fruits…IT MUST LINE UP…your ok if todd bentley lies(is one lie ok what about two or three?) to all those folks on fire for Jesus, your ok if todd bentley takes scripture and twists it, your ok if todd bentley exalts himself and glorifys himself on tv,your ok with false teaching, false prophecy and on and on…are you ok with one sinful act?are ok with it…all those warnings about the latter time the end times from Jesus himself, apostle Paul, apostle John and others i guess they don’t concern you or you dod not believe someone could be fooling all those people including you”even the elect can be deceived” if you do not take those warnings serious you are in great error..theres false christs, false gospels, false teachings, false apostles is it possble that this could be a false revival? …i challenge you to go to the Lord with a sincere heart and ask him that if it be possible that a great deception is going on to please reveal to you,you must be sincere…i sincerely gone to the Lord and asked -Lord,if i’m wrong in anyway about what i believe what your word is showing me about this great deception please show me-His word only confirmed what i already knew…what could you possibly lose if you go to the Lord in this way?…walk by faith NOT site..seeing is not always believing.
Thank you for your comments John C. My question would be do you converse with God? I do. I go to Him with everything, it’s not only the written Word of God He wants us to see & hear, it’s also the beautiful sound of His voice that He wants us to hear. You said you went to His Word which I totally agree with and go to daily, but do you go to Him and LISTEN to Him speak to you and then you speak to Him. Do you pray in the gift of tongues (our prayer language)? He said My sheep HEAR my voice, therefore I not only am positive about the Lakeland Revival is OF GOD ALMIGHTY in scripture but also through His voice, so therefore while I truly and sincerely appreciate your concern that people will not be deceived by others, I HAD nothing to lose when I went to Him and I’m not going to lose because in Christ we are always victorious. Why did you only pick out one thing that I said rather than seeing what I said in whole. I see the fruit of the healings and the lives that are being changed and drawn into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ Himself, what I said regarding Todd Bentley is that I basically can not read his thoughts, I can only see the fruit that is being produced through the Holy Spirit. Have there been people who have commented on this page in a negative way that have gone to Lakeland? My wife went and talked with hundreds of people (no exaggeration) and 100% of them were touched by God in a supernatural way. I would suggest if you are really in doubt or asking God if this is of Him, then go and allow your spirit to test the Spirit or the spirits there, what do you have to lose?
Jim,
First the devil will promote a “jesus” as I’m sure your aware of from your bible studies in the book of acts. Acts 13. In Matt. 24 Jesus said MANY will come… in who’s name? In MY (Jesus) name saying that I (Jesus) am the Christ and will fool many. Healings are done by shaman in Africa, witch doctors in Africa and S. America, Voodoo practitioners all over the world, and biblically by Quaballa jewish rabbis in the book of Acts. All those same practitioners also cast out demons. Satan can cast out satan. Especially if it furthers the kingdom of satan, and decieves christians.
Revival comes only from and with TRUE repentence. Period. I have viewed several hours about 10 of the Lakeland thing, and I have not yet nor have I heard anyone from that “camp” mention… repentence, especially Todd. Read Acts 2:38. The first words out of Peter’s mouth on the day of pentecost the true revival when asked… what can we do to be saved… was not BAM, it was not ‘come get some of this’ it was not let’s get drunk, it was not shekabumba, it was
R E P E N T!
Having new converts come up on stage to get slain is not salvation, it’s sensationalism. Being slain is also not evidence of a healing having taken place.
This fact fascinates me: I believe Jim and Cathy are sincere. I believe they believe in the power of the LOrd at this Revival. I do not believe in this revival nor do many on this site. S O M E O N E is being decieved!!! Jesus said it would be like this. It will only get MORE deceptive!
This lakeland “whatever it is” is a perfect example of what Christ was talking about in Matt:24. The ones who favors the lakeland “?”… calls those who don’t favor it…pharisitical, quenshing the spirit, missing out, working against the spirit a.k.a. Saul. And the view of those who oppose this “?” is evident on this site.
S O W H O I S B E I N G D E C I E V E D ? ? ?
Jesus said even the elect will be decieved if that was possible…we are all “the elect” …right?
One of us is being decieved.
i second what Johnboy is saying…i believe he is on mark, both groups cannot be right…if i’m wrong(and i’m not)i guess i missed out on an event,if your wrong(and you are)you are walking down a path that could lead you to destruction because that is the only purpose for such a path…i say these things in love even though it may sound harsh….i am operating in faith,i am being obedient to the word of the Lord to test EVERY spirit be it from God or not and test by the word of God…an angel of light has appeared and many believe it to be from God but this angel will not confess Jesus as Lord of all, will not confess Jesus came in the flesh, this angel only exalts itself and men….when God moves in the lives of men it is much more than what is being spoke of in the south..my God is greater than the so-called “works” taken place in florida..my heart does not condemn me.
Something I noticed…those who are pro-Todd always question those who are not pro-Todd personally. While those that don’t believe Todd only question Todd… not those that follow him.
amen Johnboy and John C.
There is alot at stake here-
Hey, when Todd is doing his thing on stage and he’s in the annointing, do they call him a Hot Toddy?
I’ve been reading this blog from time to time over the past months, and wanted to share a few thoughts on his subject. I’ve been in ministry for 28 years, and have ministered to people from many nations. I’ve started ministries and progams in different places, and I want to share with you a few important things I’ve learned about ministry.
First, I’ve observed over the years that the easiest way to build a following, sound important and to be recognized is to be critical of what others are doing. This is especially true in the days of the internet – where almost anyone with a little time and a computer can sound like they know what they are talking about, even if they don’t! It takes a lot of time, effort and energy to be truly creative, and almost none to find fault and flaws It’s a huge investment to create, but it takes a lot less time, effort and energy to tear down what others are doing.
Second, I frequently found that many who are not being proactive in ministry tend to yell the loudest about what others in ministry are doing wrong. Yes, I know that we are all ministers of the New Covenant. But I wish that those of you who post so critically would spend a decade or so actually building a ministry, preaching to the nations and serving God’s people before you spend so much time finding fault with those who have. Perhaps you would not be quite so quick or condemning. It is one thing to be critical from the comfort of your armchair. It is another thing to have actually been hungry, sick and exhausted on the mission field, spent hours in prayer for direction and a Word from God, stepped out by faith into waters that are way too deep – and then had to make your payroll. It would be much easier to listen to you, because you would have tempered your zeal for truth with understanding, wisdom and compassion.
Finally, it is not wrong to want truth – or to test what others are saying for truth. But somehow and somewhere in a lot of these posts, it feels more like pride, ego and intellectual elitism have become more important than love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness and self control. I want to remind you that even Peter – who preached to the multitudes and was used by God to perform mighty miracles was so wrong that he had to be rebuked in public by Paul.
How does the scripture handle that rebuke? It is mentioned once, and not again. That is very different than the public dissection – and the delight taken in that dissection – that is recorded in a lot of these postings. You can say you love and are only interested in the truth. That’s a good thing. But some of you sound like you take more delight in finding error and sound nothing like the way the Peter’s rebuke was handled in Scripture. It seems ironic that so many who say they are concerned only with the truth of scripture don’t seem to be acting in line with it.
I think many of us are going to have a lot of explaining to do when we stand before Jesus – with our brothers and sisters – and explain to Him how we loved them. When being right becomes more important than loving communication, something very precious has been lost. And I know that is not your heart – but perhaps we can do better loving while pursuing truth.

Ed,
I see where your coming from and of course, there is a fine line between pointing out truth, uncovering the lies and then garnering smug pride about being the correct one standing.
I think most people on here use every tactic of uncovering trying to get people to see, not for the main reason of being right…but realizing that we will have blood on our hands if we turn our heads and say nothing.
By the way, who are you to say that warning the flock isn’t a ‘good enough’ ministry?
It’s statements like yours in the paragraph below that caused me to never feel like a ‘good enough’ christian.
>>>>”But I wish that those of you who post so critically would spend a decade or so actually building a ministry, preaching to the nations and serving God’s people before you spend so much time finding fault with those who have. Perhaps you would not be quite so quick or condemning. It is one thing to be critical from the comfort of your armchair. Now, I understand what your saying but I think you need to look at the other side of the coin. What if my ministry is very simply being there for my friends and strangers in hard times, being wise counsel, and helping warn others of false doctrine and false teachers.
God makes all kinds of uses for the body. I may be an ear and you may be an eye. We both have very different functions but serve an equally useful purpose in keeping the body moving.
What I’m getting at is I used to think you were only a good christian if you were a missionary, pastor, sunday school teacher and such. I did not feel led to do any of these. The reason being is because none of those things were what God had lined up for me. I wasn’t supposed to be a missionary to a far off country or a pastor’s wife.
So, if I haven’t started a ministry of large proportions, or been to a far off country in prayer…then I have no say so in the matters going on in the body of Christ?
That sounds like man-made politics to me. The more money from the big wigs (lobbyist) gets their demands and desires recognized and bad practices overlooked. Hhhhhmmmmmmm.
Ed,how many years did Peter go unrebuked by Paul?how much damage did Peter cause?enough that Paul mentioned that others were not fellowshipping with the former gentiles now Christians in other words they were not jewish Christians.these are the endtimes and the warnings gone out are for now-today…to see brothers and sisters in the Lord be deceived so easily and taken in by falseness, fakeness, untruthfulness, sensationalism, stage performances, etc etc. it breaks my heart…this is now becoming a huge area of ministry.
John C…one question you did not address. Do you speak in other tongues? When you’re in your private prayer time with God, do you pray in a heavenly language that the Holy Spirit gives you? It makes all the difference in my life. I used to try to think about things to pray after about 5 minutes; now the heavenly language allows me to pray (and sing) without ceasing. Our God is so wonderful, He hates when His body attacks itself. In the natural that is like Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus. We don’t need that in the body of Christ.
P.S. According to Jesus, not Jim or Cathy or Todd B, but, Jesus said the following in Matthew 12:25-26 “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?”
John C,
Good point about Ed’s mention of Peter being rebuked by Paul.
Every time someone comes on to defend Bentley and his crap, we see the fruit of Bentley’s ministry – which is a terrible misuse of the bible.
What makes it so telling is that this biblical misuse is so obvious to everyone except the Todd-head trying to make the point.
Ed talks of how Peter’s rebuke was mentioned only once, and was not publically disected. But Ed misses the obvious that, unlike Todd Bentley, PETER DID NOT CONTINUE IN HIS FALSE TEACHING!
I mean, if you’re trying to use that biblical example to make a point, how could you not see the VAST DIFFERENCE between Peter’s reactions to rebuke and Bentley’s reactions to rebuke.
And I’ll submit this to ED:
If Todd Bentley had repented of his false teaching, lying, etc. as Peter had done, and then went on to preach the true gospel, none of us would be talking about him now. It’s only because of his REFUSAL TO REPENT that makes him open for public dissection.
Jim,
You said this:
“Everyone I’ve heard that actually goes to the Lakeland revival is on fire for Jesus. Is that bad?”
Many have come on this site claiming to have a whole new fire for Jesus, having been changed, etc., to be new and better Christians. I sincerely hope that’s true, but when you dig a little deeper, we find that this new ‘fire’ for Jesus DOES NOT come with a love for God’s Word, but rather a disdain for it.
So Jim, lest test this supposed ‘fire’ against the Word of God to find out if it’s genuine:
A few weeks ago, Todd read a prophecy about Jesus appearing the next night in Lakeland.
In Matthew, Ch. 24, Jesus tells us that people would claim that Jesus was in a certain place. (You see, unlike Bentley, et al, Jesus’ prophecies come true).
Anyway, Jesus makes it clear that those who say that Jesus will appear are false prophets, and Jesus SPECIFICALLY tells us NOT to go and see for ourselves.
So, here’s you dilemma, Jim:
You say you’re on ‘fire’, etc. OK, then prove it:
Please tell me that you agree with Jesus’ words in Matthew 24 and agree with me (and more importantly, Jesus), in warning people NOT TO GO to Lakeland.
Someone who is truly on fire, if it’s from God, would love and tresure the words of Jesus and believe them to be absolutely true.
Someone who has recieved false fire, however, would exalt man while ignoring the words of Jesus.
So, Jim, in summation:
TODD: “Come and get some!”
JESUS: “Don’t go”
Who’s right here, Jim – Todd or Jesus?
I believe andypro that Jesus in this chapter of Matthew (24) is speaking of a time that has not happened yet. Verse 15 speaks of “the abomination that causes desolation” If I understand a little bit, I think Jesus is talking about the Anti-Christ setting his image up in the temple (Has not been re-built yet in Jerusalem ) to be worshiped. Jesus then mentions in verse 21 about great distress that has been never been equaled since the beginning of the world. Again, it has not happened yet. Then verse 23 Jesus says “At THAT TIME if anyone says to you.” My point is this chapter speaks of the seven year tribulation period. A great revival is supposed to happen just before these events happen. God Bless you andypro.
Jim – nowhere in the Bible does it say there is a great revival before the end of the age – it says there will a great falling away!
Jim,
Matthew ch 24 talks about the very end AND the times leading up to it, that’s why Jesus spoke it both to his disciples at the time AND to future generations.
The PRINCIPLE that I was referring to in this passage was that false prophets would claim that Messiah was somewhere and that we were TOLD NOT TO GO AND SEE. Near the end of the chapter, Jesus further expounds on that be saying that His coming will be in the clouds for all to see, and that not until the sun will be darkened, etc.
So, the only way that we could possibly say that Jesus’ warning (about false prophets telling others to come and see), is NOT for us today, is if we believe that Jesus was ONLY warning us not to run after claims of his appearence at the very end times, but that it’s OK for people to run after claims of His appearence UP UNTIL those very end times.
That’s a pretty shoddy hermenuetic and I doubt you’ll find anyone seriously saying that for the last 2000 years. (Although that in itself doesn’t seem to bother Bentley-ites).
So, back to the original question, which you didn’t answer.
Todd says “GO” and Jesus says “Don’t Go”. Who ya gonna believe?
(And by the way, this is only one of the reasons that you shouldn’t go to see Todd, many of them chronicled here on this site. For example, Colossians 2:18 says:
Don’t let anyone tell you to worship angels, even though they’ve had visions about this.
Todd himself said specifically that GOD told him to get us to ‘believe in the angel’ rather than ‘believe in Jesus’ – Once again we are confronted with scripture telling us one thing and Bentley himself telling us another)
And again, I say if this lack of respect for scriptures (and almost word-for-word condemnation in them for the EXACT THINGS that Bentley said), is the fruit of this so-called revival, then how can this ‘fire’ be true fire from the Holy Spirit, who wrote the very scriptures that Bentley seems to disobey?
And furthermore, how can the Holy Spirit do things in Lakeland that He says not to do in the bible? For another example: Todd bragging about speaking to the dead. The Holy Spirit explicitly wrote in scripture NOT to do that, yet Bentley claims the Holy Spirit did just that for him.
You see, there will be a spirit that will counter THE Holy Spirit, and this spirit will do many of the same ‘types of things’ that the Holy Spirit does. So how can we tell them apart? Simple, the Holy Spirit will not contradict the written word, while the lying spirit CAN NOT HELP but contradict the written word.
This is what we’re talking about here.
andypro has a great point and its simple, also it is no accident that some that come up here are warned by the word of God and they consider it..what i’m saying is GOd loves you so much that he(Jesus)died for you and when you first heard the gospel it was no accident,God sent one of his laborers across your path and you heard the words, you were convicted by the Holy Spirit and you were offered eternal life in Christ Jesus and you accepted it,no different now except this is a warning so that you don’t believe in a false gospel, false jesus, false doctrine, false teaching or repent and get away from it….these false things do not come all at once but in the way of the enemy-they will come in a way of least notice even proclaiming great things of the lord but does it line up with the word…the warnings do,the events and so-called wonders do,the men and their motives do…testing the spirits must be tested by the word FIRST and then the fruits,if your waiting for the fruits then it may be to late(i believe)…we love all of you please consider in a sincere way what we are warning about and act upon it,
Our Father in heaven, His Son seated next to Him, and the Holy Spirit Who abibes in His children, is God in Whom we each, by His Grace, can trust absolutely. He so Loved us, as part of the world, that at the right time He revealed His eternally predestined salvation in Jesus the Christ.
As part of His family, I am grateful for you all as brethren in whom the Holy Spirit has shed abroard the Love He has. By the way, I don’t have any knowledge of Todd Bentley or Lakeside, but I trust that He has a reason for my coming across this blog. Keep holding fast our Head, Christ, and we’ll meet in Glory, if not before.
It is sad to me that there is such disunity. We must be carefull about the judgments that we put upon God’s anointed. Jesus is at work.Do not let critical thinking and vain imagination rob you of what God is doing. much love and many blesings your sister in Christ.
Amber..where is the disunity?who of God’s annointed is being judged?who is thinking critical?with some i see the word of God going forth and not returning void….was the church divided when Paul rebuked Peter to his face?i appreciate those who have concern but most who do are new up here and jump the gun(if you will)actually you are “judging”and not by the word of the Lord.God’s warnings always go out before he passes judgement-for he is Just.
Amberi don’t know which exact posts your reqading but theres the ones who sound critical but you can see it is by the Word that they are concerned that many are continuing down the wrong path…when the wolves come should i be silent?or should i be a spineless disobedient slave like many?…i say all this in love…John

“If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

“Apparently Todd Bentley has learned nothing from God’s judgment on Moses for hitting the rock instead of speaking to it by kicking a stage 4 cancer patient in the stomach!”
What was that mans name by the way?
Todd swaggered around on the stage talking about others he had abused (three weeks ago) and then turned his head to the camera and said, “By the way that man I hit with stage four cancer was healed”
Now that’s a story for ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN, uh?

Not sure where to put this.
Separation May End Bentley’s Lakeland Appearances
Todd Bentley, the evangelist who has led the Florida Outpouring revival here in Lakeland since April 2, has filed for separation from his wife and might not return to the revival, according to his former local spokesperson, Lynne Breidenbach.
She said Bentley made the announcement to his staff this afternoon. Bentley and his wife, Shonnah, have two daughters and a son and are Canadian citizens. Under Canadian law, separation is a first step in divorce proceedings and takes nine months. Bentley and his wife have been in marriage counseling for several months, Breidenbach said. She called the situation “very sad” but insisted it “doesn’t invalidate what Todd did” at the revival.
Breidenbach, who said her contract with Bentley’s Fresh Fire ended today, said it is not clear whether Bentley will make further appearances at the revival. About two weeks ago, Bentley announced he would leave the revival on Aug. 23 in order to resume his traveling evangelistic work.
The Fresh Fire Ministries Web site indicates that a September appearance by Bentley in England has been postponed. Stay tuned for further information.

Todd says that when we try to discern if something is of the Holy Spirit it will grieve the Holy Spirit. But don’t you think it will grieve the Holy Spirit more when people act like crazy drunken fools (like I saw last week on a video with people talking about ‘Godka’ at the Lakeland revivival and men kissing eachother in an unholy way). Or Todd shouting ‘in the name of the Holy BAM’ or kicking people and telling that the Holy Spirit told him to do that ? Or John Crowder who is ‘toking the Holy Spirit’? I think this is grieving the Holy Spirit!
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and I think He won’t be grieved when we want to discern if something is right or wrong, if something is true or a lie. That is not grieving the Holy Spirit.
Todd Bentley = False Prophet
“But there arose false prophets also among the people, as among you also there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
And many shall follow their lascivious doings; by reason of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of.
And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.”
2 Peter2.

Interesting…after reading this whole thing (took quite a while)…
it seems that people who are questioning the Lakeland thing are doing so with scripture.
Todd is really fun to watch- he’s personable and exciting. But all his followers claim he’s real based on their experiences. People feel fire and love Jesus so much that they are forever changed.
Praise God that He is so powerful that He can work whenever He wants. He knows every heart. If people staunchly believe in Him and His cross alone then its not unlikely for Him to touch them at one of Todd’s meetings… that doesnt mean that the majority of the stuff going on is from Him.
Cling to the cross. Its all we can. Yes, God loves us and wants us to be joyful and abundantly satisfied in Him. He wants us to trust Him enough to let Him use us to bring lost sheep to the foot of the cross.
So that’s the question of fruit. Im not asking if anyone left there feeling awesome and more loved by God. The point is, if there are this many people getting this touched by God, where is the evidence in their lives? Why werent they bringing in the homeless, weeping over sin, praising Christ for His work on the cross, asking where He would send them? Thousands upon thousands of people got “touched” so what happened after they left the tent? Where did Christ’s love go? Shouldnt it have gone with them?
