Walking Adverts (Or Not) for Todd Bentley’s “Healing Revival”

I have previously remarked on the strange fact that despite the apparent ‘heavy, heavy, weighty’ glory surrounding Todd Bentley, and the ‘kingly anointing’ on him and his associates, which is apparently very ‘contagious’ and ’transferable’, and his equal opportunities team of mixed sex super-duper powerful healing angels, that there is an evident lack of healing in Todd Bentley’s own, and his friends, mentors and associates’ lives.

Todd Bentley and his associates claim that this bam bam sheeka ’glory’ is so great, that not only are people healed of regular diseases and sicknesses, but that also many pounds of flab instantly vanish off fat people, and hair is miraculously restored on bald heads! Wow!  Todd should appear on the shopping channels with this as it is much better than the ab worker thingies, or the hair restorer creams. It is also very financially lucrative. Who needs self control or stomach stapling when God can just zap the fat away? (Another burger anyone?)

But the problem with this claim is, where is the evidence for any of the healings, let alone these kind of ‘healings’?  Fresh Fire ministries refuse to release their alleged plethoria of numerous documented healings to the media for ‘privacy’ reasons (which was directly contradicted at the 23rd June meeting by Todd, who said to the crowds- this is from my notes taken, this is not verbatim, but nonetheless an accurate reflection of what he said):-

“We have received thousands, if not tens of thousands, of healed people’s testimonies. I have staff working 80 hours a week working on the biggest catalogue in the world of such data with names, addresses and the medical verifications. We have medically vereiied doctor’s evidence of the dead raised…. every conceivable miracle we have in this catalogue of outstanding medically verified miracles.  We have blood tests, x-rays, even letters from the medical community. We are making these medical stories available to any media. We also have got a video catalogue with follow ups and literally thousands of testimonies for the media for the most notable miracles to present to a sceptical world - this could be one of the most well documented revivals in history!”

This is what he says to the crowd who all adore him and believe him. Yet yesterday, I reported that a reputable media source, World News, has made repeated requests for documentation of healings, but so far claims of “privacy issues” have been the only response from Fresh Fire.   ‘The Province’, a Canadian newspaper, said back in April of their ‘fobbing off’ by Fresh Fire:

“When The Province asked to speak to someone who had been healed through Bentley in either B.C. or Florida, Fresh Fire was unable to find someone at short notice, citing difficulties with outdated contact information locally, and record-keeping problems in Florida.”

So we do not have any medical verification – just lots of hype and many false claims already proven and documented to be false.

But to be fair, I do not need a doctor’s report always, if I see an obvious miracle happening before my own eyes. But I have not yet seen anyone on the Lakeland stage being obviously healed before my eyes. OK, there is some bamming and booming as people fall out and manifest ‘in the Spirit’ but that proves nothing – I see that kind of nonsense all the time in the church but without any good fruit, let alone any healings. I see and hear testimonies on the Lakeland stage but I also see that the people testifying to being healed are evidently not yet healed  or just think themself healed without proof because they are all hyped up and buzzing and felt the power on the night. This is the stuff that fake healers like Benny Hinn and Morris Cerullo prey on.

I see hype, numerous lies, failures and disappointments. The eleven year old boy that dreamt of running onto a baseball field is one such memorable account. ‘He has never been out his wheelchair’  yelled Todd, as the lad stood shakily on stage propped up by Mom like a puppet on a string. Yet his mother significantly said the boy has used a walker before which is a huge difference to what he could and could not do - and on stage he was being propped and held up by his mother instead of the walker – so where was the healing? Really? As a parent, I found that story heartbreaking – a disabled child’s dreams ruthlessly exploited by an evil con man and pathological liar. I weep already, but if that was my child….wow.

  • So we have no documented healings presented
  • We have lies about these documented healings being presented to the media when they are not
  • We see nothing on stage that could be presented as real evidence of genuine healings (though I do not doubt most  of the people’s sincerity) – in fact we have the opposite, as many people testifying are clearly not  healed.
  • We hear numerous far fetched stories and outlandish lies out of the mouth of Todd Bentley presented as the ‘evidence’, some of which have been debunked and shown to be false – Eg the girl who was not  raised from the dead at Arnold Palmer Hospital, and another resurrection of a teenage girl that even if true, had nothing to do with Lakeland (as proven by the girl testifying on youtube for the exact same thing under another ministry before Lakeland occured!)
  • We have a proven documented ever-lengthening list of people proclaimed healed by Bentley who ‘fell out’ under the power, but are no better, in fact some are worse, and some even dead.
  • We have proof of numerous lies, deceptions and cover-ups over the past couple of months, coming out from this so-called anoited man “of God”.
  • But then we also have the testimony of the man and his associates themselves which is before our eyes that they do not manifest their own claims of healing.

Re the weight loss anointing, and healing bald head anointing – Todd Bentley is balding and overweight. We do not need a doctor’s report to see that! Many people in his worship team are also heavy – some severely obese – and most if anything have gained   weight at Lakeland, and not lost it. Bob Jones, Todd’s mentor is obese.  I watched Shonnah Bentley, Todd’s wife, on a video the 23rd June, and she is very heavy. She also had evident difficulty walking a short distance up to Todd and was physically uncomfortable (from what seemed her hip area?) when being forcibly pushed over by Che Ahn and the new order of apostles. So where is their weight loss or other healing cures?*

Todd Bentley claims to possess ‘this anointing’ more than anybody else on earth as the chosen man of the moment, yet he and his wife and associates are obviously not ‘healed’. Bob Jones in addiction to being overweight has severe kidney problems. Prophet Paul Cain had a stroke only days after appearing on stage in Lakeland. Apostle-prophet Jim Goll’s wife has cancer. Doris Wagner, Chief Apostle C Peter Wagner’s wife, had to use an electric scooter to cross the stage last night. Doubtless there are other sicknesses we could also mention. Todd, indeed, has suffered from heart problems. Why does Todd not pray for himself, his wife, Doris Wagner, Bob Jones and Paul Cain to be healed, and more than that why   are they not healed in the glory and anointing?  Is it because Todd’s glory and anointing is yet another lie?

For anyone who wants to watch Todd’s wife struggle across stage (at around 0.48 minutes on this video), and her evident discomfort while being prayed for, here is the video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAnNSiZfgvI  The look on her face at 1.48 minutes is extremely  telling. Dorothy Wagner can be seen moving behind Todd in her electric scooter around 2.50 minutes.

(Note, I am not  poking fun at, or mocking any of these people’s looks or ‘judging’ them for their sicknesses or weight issues. I am overweight too, but unlike Todd, I do not claim to have an anointing that regularly instantaneously melts the flab off. I am pointing out the huge paradox between what Todd claims to be true, and proven reality.

I also stress I believe in and have experienced genuine miraculous healings. But I also believe in the counterfeit and in vultures and Todd is such a vulture.)

  1. RE this note:

We have a proven documented ever-lengthening list of people proclaimed healed by Bentley who ‘fell out’ under the power, but are no better, in fact some are worse, and some even dead.

Could you please post this list? It would help to see it. Thanks!

  2. This is exactly the question we were asking each other when we watched last night.
If there is such a healing “anointing” present, then why the limping and use of an electric scooter.
I hadn’t heard of the “fat melting anointing”… over half the country could use that couldn’t they? He certainly wouldn’t have to be begging for people to “sow seeds”… he could make a fortune just by making all of us slim.

  3. My husband just pointed out that perhaps the “fat melting anointing” only works if you pray and fast for 30 days…

    Just a bit of humor…

    Comment by JG | June 26, 2008

  4. JG – lol. But seriously the associated David Herzog also preaches a fat releasing anointing – you have to run around and around the room til you get it! This is really true!

  5. Fat melting anointing? Puleeeeze. Did anyone ever hear of self-control? Exercise? Oh, that’s right, I forgot … the Lord is running out of time, so along with our instant character in little white boxes we get the fat melting anointing. Got it now. Silly me. Neverrrrr mind.

Folks, this is discernment training 101. You barely need your bible to pick out the lies, but it certainly helps. I have a feeling that the next course may be a little more difficult. This is the easy stuff. Time to get the word into your heart and mind so you’re ready when they do things that look more genuine.

  7. huh?

    bald headed healing anointing????

    really???

and a weight loss anointing? Have all MY prayers been answered???

Forget looking ten-years younger … try 15 years younger!!!

    WooHoo!!!

What? No one has actually come forward and announced that they have grown their hair back? … D’oh!

Oh, to get my hopes up and then for them to be so cruelly dashed!

Seriously though, did Todd really say that???

    YouTube reference please …

    Shalom.

  8. I just read an article from the elijah list that Rick Joyner posted about the Mobilizing army and such. On into the article he writes about his association with and what the knights of Malta really was and is. He says that we do not fight against flesh and blood, yet that is exactly what these knights did. And we should pattern our Christian walk after them? Use them as an exsample? You are right Dave. This is easy stuff. But the sad thing is if people listen and not really question enough, it becomes believable. So many folks I know watch Lord of the rings and the new myth type movies that are now out. And they wonder what God is trying to say. What? It reminds me of listening to the Beatles album backwards!

  9. Todd Bentley is not the one healing these people. It’s God. God will do it on His time. Why is everyone expecting immediate healing? Oh, that’s right, it’s called being in the flesh. A bunch of people, including my pastor’s wife and assoiciate pastor, just got back from the revival. We had an impartation service last night along with the start of our revival. Let me tell you, the annointing was falling down like fire. Little children were laying out in the spirit in the floor. People were laid out every where. God is definitely in this. We even had one saved. If you are a skeptic, you should go. My church group was laid out in the parking lot in Lakeland. They said the annointing of God was so strong, you could hardly stand. People say this is not of God. Well if it isn’t, He definetly is getting the glory. Instead of critsizing, get off of your seat of judgement and go to work for God. Go into the highways and the hedges and compel them to come to Christ.

  10. Bull

These guys say it repeatedly – including Todd. Todd’s associates, David Herzog and John Crowder really push the ‘weight loss miracles’ more than normal healings even. It is a frequent claim in certain Christian healing circles. I heard ‘healers’ Ian and Rosemary Andrews say it first about 20 years ago, but I believe they copied the idea off A A Allen and folk like that from the 1950s.

  11. Glenda,
I have a few questions for you.

    1) What kind of anointing / impartation does a liar give? How about a person that traffics in spirits, and practices occult practices?
1a) What admonitions does scripture give about occult practices?
    2) When Jesus healed people, how long did it take? Was it immediate, overnight, or next month?
    3) Who gets the glory when the person leading a meeting accepts the praise and worship of men, especially messianic scriptures, and attributes them to himself?
    4) Does God share His glory with another?
    5) Have you tested the spirits? Does what is being spoken & done line up with scripture? Have you researched Bentley’s past, his associations, his teachings? Do you know who it is he looks up to?
    6) Are we admonished to be quick or slow to lay hands on another? What can happen when we lay hands on someone else?

These questions are not for me. They’re for you. If you honestly seek to answer them, you may learn something that could change your life, and keep you out of MUCH trouble.

    I pray that you do!!

    Dave

  13. You shall know them by their fruits.Let’s see what fruit comes forth. Are people being saved and healed ? Let’s see
Don’t be so quick to judge.Do you want to be judged ? If this is of god then it will flourish and spread like fire and if you fight it you will fight against god himself and guess who loses that battle ??? Time will tell

How can anyone say Todd is of God? This thing is as evil as it gets!

  15. Just a thought about that video. To those who are so ready to wait and see I ask what will you do if someone gets killed by such an action? Wait and see? Just how obvious does it have to be before you can see it?

    Comment by Eve | June 27, 2008

  16. Don,
That foolish attitude (Wait and see) is what they used in Nazi Germany, and other places in WWII. Geeez, we shouldn’t judge Hitler, that wouldn’t be Christian.

God tells us in His word that many will be deceived in the end times. Deceit is guaranteed to fluorish. Hmmm, how does THAT fit with your theology?

    Comment by Dave | June 28, 2008

  17. How long do the Bentley supporters want us to wait and see? This so-called revival has been going on now for over two months and it seems that the fruit we’ve been seeing is lies, cover-ups and deceit from it’s leaders. How long are we supposed to wait and see?

  18. This includes the same bunch of nuts that ran around in the Vineyard about 15-20 years ago. Some legitimate healing took place in the Vineyard but these “prophets” just played games and got people excited. No substance. Sounds to me like they are setting people up for the beast. Lots of show but the Lord isn’t in it.

    Comment by Rick | June 28, 2008

  19. The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? 43 It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. 44 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45 But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the menservants and maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk. 46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
47 “That servant who knows his master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
    Luke 12:42-48 (ANIV)

The master does not approve of the beating of His servants.

  20. Who said Todd follows Jesus? Todd barely talks about Jesus, or repentance, or the Scriptures.

But Todd loves to talk about himself.

Todd had his cronies coronate him recently.
How’s that for a self proclaimed “god”.

I pray for a few Ministries to unite and put an end the the WWE Todd Bentley show.

It makes all Christians look stupid, not saved.

    Comment by randy | July 4, 2008

  21. I also happened to see part of the “show” that night. In addition to wondering about why the rest of the associates in this group haven’t been healed I couldn’t help asking myself that if TB has had all of these visions in the night why wouldn’t his wife be able to confirm any of them? Before you reply with the pat answer of those around Paul didn’t see or hear Jesus speaking to him on the road to Damascus, or that only Jesus (and maybe John the Baptist) saw the Spirit descending like a dove; even if they couldn’t see what is happening in the spiritual realm, that didn’t put the natural realm into freeze-frame mode. Or maybe she is just a very sound sleeper, or maybe…

Reply to Eve: I agree the master doesn’t approve of beating his servants. It is appalling to watch how he has smacked people around physically, not to mention the more severe damage being done to them in the spiritual realm. The sad part is that many of the folks who go up for healing are so desperate for it to come, they will accept it (or try to) in whatever form or package it comes in. Even the guy with stage 4 cancer who got kneed in the gut tried to put on a happy face.

I would think with all the Utube links available that the D.A. in Lakeland has more than enough evidence, and witnesses, to personal assault. [Does anyone know whether people have to sign a waiver before they make the grand stage?]

Too many people have been drinking the “kool-aid” in/from Lakeland without discernment of its flavor. Some people want/need a touch or experience so badly they are even willing to drink polluted water.

  22. We had a person come to our church and said there was an annointing to be released supernaturally from being overweight. We had no documented proof that the ones that stood up lost any weight. I am overweight and felt the Holy Spirit say don’t you dare.

Later that week, a lady at our church said she prayed for a severely obese woman in our church and she lost 11 pounds in one week. Well, she gained it and much more back. I no longer go to that church for many reasons, they playing around with what Jesus did is only one of them. Though I cannot recall him healing obesity. This is turning out to be such a mess.
