Learning from Lacy, Mazel, and Stacey Campbell’s Prophetic Manifestations
Strange Spiritual Manifestations Are Nothing New
Strange spiritual manifestations or signs and wonders exhibited in bizarre fleshly behaviour (eg vigorous shaking, falling over, jerking, roaring, barking etc) happened in the church long before Toronto and Brownsville, and even long before Azusa Street.
The Camisards aka The French Prophets who existed at the turn of the 18th century (see these articles here and here on them) are a really fascinating religious group. I believe they were the spiritual ‘mothers’ and ‘fathers’ and imparters of certain spiritual behaviours that have been passed all the way on down the line, in one form or another, to today. The very same behaviour that was found in rural France in the late 1600s, can be found today at Lakeland, Florida, three hundred years later – including the very same focus on youth. However, far more powerful testimonies come out from the Camisard camp - of illiterate people, even babies who could not yet talk, preaching and prophesying in their sleep, and signs and wonders in the sky. Yet the Camisards’ prophecies proved to be dangerously false. It was a powerful delusion indeed.
John Lacy
Some Camisard leaders came over to London in the early 1700s, and greatly influenced men like John Lacy, a sincere and spiritually hungry man for the “new thing God was doing”. In the French prophets, John Lacy thought he had found this new thing. John Lacy was greatly affected by the spirit imparted from the French prophets; he jerked and manifested for months, his spiritual life was renewed, he was ‘hot’ for God and the things of religion, and he produced volumes of prophecy (that with time proved itself false). Lacy claimed to fluently speak in many tongues - that is in previously unlearned languages, not today’s kind of speaking in tongues. He was tested by Oxbridge University Scholars and could hold conversations for fifteen minutes or more with them in the chosen tongue, and he reportedly passed their tests with flying colours.
For all his passion, devotion and energy, John Lacy refused to test the spirits, reasoning like many folk do today, that if it was all in the name of Jesus, and made him seemingly more in love with God and devoted more to the things of religion, how could it possibly be deceptive? John Lacy did not understand the subtle and seductive nature of deception though.
In time, John Lacy disgraced himself and the church, by being “led by the spirit” in 1711 to desert his wife and family for a young actress, Elizabeth Grey, who was “led” to prophesy in the nude in a Roman Catholic Chapel in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. It was said she would concieve the second messiah. I have not found any record of Lacy or Grey beyond this elopement, nor discovered what happened when Lacy and Grey’s numerous booklets of prophecies consistently failed to come to pass. The prophets claimed that all the things they spoke of would be manifest over the earth in three years, and on 29th of October 1707, John Lacy said: If within six months to come these things are not confirmed then: ‘I shall before all the world acknowledge my delusion’. He did not confess anything after six months, but it is perhaps noteworthy that he left his wife and family for Grey just over three years later. In May 1708, there is an extremely embarassing account of a dead leader, Dr Emes, that they failed to rise from the dead after many months of prophesying about it that Lacy’s faith seemingly did somehow survive. (Though many supporters did fall away because of this notorious public event, and there are records of some being broken men because of false prophecies. Also some entered mental asylums because of these impartations – as recorded in documents in the British Library).
I surmise that there is a good likelihood that with all the knocks, that John Lacy fell away completely in time – as did many after the Toronto Blessing for the very same reason: disillusion, blaming GOD for lying to them or not existing as prophecies did not come to pass, rather than blame the lying spirits manifesting pretending to be God that led them to this disillusion in the first place. That is why deceptive spirits ”in the name of Jesus” can be so dangerous. Though in the short term they can lead to seemingly passionate intensity and devotion and religious fervour and intimacy with “God”, in the long term they lead not only to error, apostasy and heresy, and sin (usually sexual), but sometimes complete falling away and rejection of the faith.
Passing It On: Contagious, Tangible, Transferable Anointing!
Regardless, before his public disgrace, John Lacy [and others like him] imparted his ‘prophetic spirit’ and manifestations, and influenced other men and women who in turn influenced and imparted ‘the spirit’ to other men and women who influenced and imparted to many others. Certainly, revivalists John and Charles Wesley were aware of this and labelled it and its associated behaviour ‘distracting’ ‘fleshly’ and ’demonic’.
The French Prophet’s impartations crossed over to America with the Shaker sect among others (who eventually decided that their leader, Ann Lee was the female Christ). The French Prophet’s impartations, behaviours and false prophecy was passed onto people in various 18th century milleniast sects and cults, then within the more fringe elements and excesses of America’s First Great Awakening/the New England Revival, and then at the jerks at the later Kentucky Cane Ridge Revival.
From Kentucky, I think the impartation was probably passed on down (in one way or the other, sometimes subtley) through the Holiness movement and the Shakers, and was manifested through men like Edward Irving (who promoted tongues, and the false pre trib rapture theory), Frank W Sandford (an earlier advocate of modern spiritual warfare heresies) and John Alexander Dowie. It then appeared at Azusa Street, and even The Welsh Revival (who, however, rejected the behaviour as demonic – see War on the Saints ), burst into pentecostal and charismaticalism, reared its ugly head in William Branham’s Voice of Healing Latter Rain Movement, and then finally came back more overtly within the Kansas City Prophets’ orchestrated Toronto Blessing, Pensacola and now the Lakeland Outpouring.
The common thread in the movements I mention, apart from false prophecies, seems to be a form of dominionism and a spin on Manifest Sons with the return of Christ within them corporately or within an individual leader, with spiritual elitism, a claim to spiritual perfectionism, over-controlling leadership and authorotarianism, sins of the flesh (sexual, alcoholism), a disdain for scriptures for the new revelation (manifested over time), all long before William Branham and Latter Rain.
In turn, the French Prophets can perhaps trace their spiritual heritage of behaviour to the Jansenist Convulsuries, Jane Leade’s Philadelphian Society and/or George Fox’s Quakers, who in turn can trace back again to some other group and so on down the chain, probably all the way back to the convulsing prophet Montanus – labelled as false and demonised by early church fathers.
Stacey Campbell and Lakeland Todd Bentley
I wrote here of Stacey Campbell’s head shaking episode at Lakeland a few days ago. From 1994, the time of the Toronto Blessing onwards, I saw similar strange activity when people ‘prophesied’. The more people manifested, shook, grunted or groaned as they spoke, so the more ‘anointed’ and ‘accurate’ and ‘important’ and ‘worthy’ the ‘prophecy’ and the ‘prophet’ was thought to be, and the more the audience ‘listened’ and took notice – however banal or silly the words.
Shaky Prophecy During The Toronto Blessing
I was on a few residential schools with YWAM in 1994, and day and night we manifested in the ‘Toronto Blessing’. There was one young lady, whom I will call Sally. (Not her real name). When ‘the spirit’ came upon her, she would fall flat out on the carpet on her back. She went almost rigid and very white and pale. (She was quite sickly anyway, and interestingly despite all the times she manifested healing when prayed for she was never actually healed ). With her eyes fixed and wide open, Sally would stare at the ceiling with her finger pointing straight up into the air. She looked like a corpse, and when she spoke she honestly sounded like a witch or some seer or oracle from a dark fantasy tale. (And I liked her and these were my thoughts about her at the time!)
Sally’s hand would periodically shake as she would stutter out some sounds, her finger dictating and waving through the air as a baton. ‘Tttt….ttt…ttt…tt’, ‘bbb….bbb…bbb’ ‘rrr…rrr’…rrr’ and various other usually unintellligible sounds intermingled with a few nonsensical unlinked words in incomplete sentences that made no sense at all. Rather than Sally being rebuked, stopped and shut down, as I know now she should have been, this was decreed by the YWAM leaders to be ‘prophecy’. A group of people seeking a prophetic word would crowd around Sally, hanging onto her every word and writing down everything she stuttered while manifesting. They flocked to her because they and she thought that the content of what she spoke must be ‘anointed’ and ‘really prophetic’ because she manifested so much while she spoke it out. It was not – it was inintelligible drivel, and I say that kindly, as Sally was very dear to me – she gave me some words, one or two sentences, which took her about half an hour to say while stuttering, which I shall not write here as I do not wish to embarass her or identify her.
Though at the time I generally as a whole embraced the Toronto Blessing as I did not test the spirits, I was still disturbed and unsetttled by such things at times, and I could not understand people’s foolishness to flock to this parady. Though I was fooled for a time by the same parody in different packages – eg people going ‘ooh and ahh’ and grunting and bending from their middle, as if hit in the stomach by a ball, or other strange manifestations that were supposed to ‘witness’ to a prophetic word or teaching – individually or as a crowd. Similarly, if I was manifesting, the ‘words’ spoken over me by others were considered to be more prophetic while I manifested, especially if my manifestations testified seemingly to the word by becoming stronger. [I read my old YWAM journals recently. I was shocked at how many false words were spoken over me at this time by YWAM and Vineyard people. I never realised much of this stuff til years afterwards - to my own shame and discredit.]
I could tell you of all sorts of other bizarre manifestations I saw in those early Toronto years. And the false prophecy that went with it. How ludicrous things were accepted to be true prophetically, just because they were mimed out or whatever by manifestations. How banal ‘word’s were revelled in because they came in unusual form. Examples range from a young man singing out a nursery rhyme in a drunken manner while prostrate in the floor: ‘my bonnie lies over the ocean’ interpreted as being ‘prophetic singing in the spirit’ of missions and evangelism and Christ and the church, and when he sang another nursery rhyme similar deep messages within the banal were looked for. When another girl went over ‘in the spirit’ she subconciously started miming typewriting, so it was decreed she had a ’secretarial anointing’ and so on and so forth.
Prophetic Manifestations Lead Astray
The lesson is, these sort of manifestations lead astray. They are lying and testify to lying prophecies by lying prophets (however sincere these lying prophets are). I cannot recall one single genuine prophecy that has come forth from anyone that manifested in such a way while prophesying, though can recall dozens of false ones over the years. Someone who manifests should not be listened to more because they manifest while speaking – if anything, it is quite the opposite.
‘Shaky prophecy’ as I now term it, is literally that – shaky. Just because someone manifests while they are speaking, it by no means indicates they speak by the Spirit of the Lord. In fact, in my experience, it has been the complete opposite. The more someone manifests physically in this bizarre way, and the more focus on these manifestations, the more likely what is being said is NOT from God and is not led or inspired by the Spirit of God. I could point to a stack of false or banal prophecies to prove it.
Montanus, Attempted Exorcism and Demonic Prophecy
Montanus was deemed a false prophet by the early church and they tried to exorcise him and his followers, because among other things, he was enraptured by and focussed on and led astray by the manifestations when he prophesied, and sought these manifestations. It was the manifestation over the word that was deemed more spiritual by him, and he was clearly not in control when prophesying contrary to direct scriptural teachings. Paul clearly said that, ‘The spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets’ and ‘a fruit of the spirit is self control’ and ’prophecy should be done decently and in order, people speaking one by one and waiting their turn to speak – with public judging and weighing afterwards.’
Stacey Campbell, like Montanus, would have been exorcised by the early church because of how she manifested the other night at Lakeland – and she should be exorcised now. That is very clear, and also as to the reasons why. Clearer still, they would have decreed that she cannot have spoken by the Spirit of God to have manifested in such a way. That is before they even listened to her false words and weighed them up scripturally. She is a false prophetess because of her words and manifestations both.
Abraham Mazel and Deadly Consequences
I have a very important example of somebody else who was similarly deemed to be the oracle of God because they manifested greatly while prophesying. He too should have been exorcised as it was clearly not the Spirit of God he spoke by. He, Abraham Mazel, should be an important person that all in today’s church are told about because of the lessons applied from it – Lakeland type manifestations are deadly!
In the year 1702, an Abraham Mazel and fifty of the French prophets went into a forest to wait upon the Lord for His revelation. The Holy Spirit then allegedly descended on Mazel. The event was accompanied by such spectacular body contortions, that everyone present knew that “something extraordinary was about to be declared” to them by Mazel the prophet.
Mazel then claimed that God “opened his mouth” and commanded the men through him to go home and get weapons. That evening they were to reassemble and then march on Pont-de-Montvert and free their protestant companions held prisoner there by the persecuting Roman Catholic tyrants. The group were commanded by prophetic inspiration to fire on anyone that jeopardised their plans to free the prisoners forcibly. They all paid great attention to the prophecy because of the spiritual manifestations upon Mazel.
Before the men set out that evening, they had a service of worship with a sermon. Then they marched out from the mountains, singing psalms. It is significant that the psalm that one of the prophets specifically remembered having sung was not one of militancy or one promising God’s destruction of the ungodly. It was instead the penitential Psalm 51 ‘Have mercy upon me O God…wash me thoroughly from my iniquity.’ They were sincere God-fearing men.
Their mission was to free the protestant prisoners at Pont de Montvert. After a regroup after an initial failure, it became to free the prisoners, and set fire to the castle and kill the abbot jailor mistreating their companions. The command by prophetic inspiration pronounced while Mazel was seized once again by violent bodily manifestations was for the brethren to set fire to the foot of the stairs so that the castle and those enemies that dwelt in it would perish in the flames.
However, the abbot jailor jumped from the tower and ran from the flames, but was mercilessly chased after and was then killed on a bridge. His body was found with 52 stab wounds in it. Mazel said God defended the murder as it was the vengence of heaven. The abbot’s murder was the catalyst for the ill-fated War of the Camisards. How many French lives could have been spared, and how different things could have been, if Mazel and his companions had tested the spirits and not seen the violent ‘agitations’ to mean anything divine. Wow……all I can say is wow.Thank you for yet another excellent article, and another heartbreaking one as well. God bless you Miriam. Maranatha!
The French Prophets also imparted their spirit to Johann Adam Gruber of the Community of True Inspiration when they visited Germany. He thought it very odd and strange at first and thought it demonic, but that he also felt ‘a secret joy’ so went with it. After getting ’some’ he convulsed for 36 hours before prophesying, one word at a time, then two hours straight.
The false impartation from the French prophets, was described by Blasius Daniel Makinet thus; ‘a gentle and pleasant glow which gradually becomes more intense and also fills the external body’. There followed either trembling or convulsions ‘and in the centre of this internal fire the word of the Lord is born’.
French prophet Elie (Elijah) Marion described the infilling -
‘When the spirit of God wants to seize me, I sense a great warmth in my heart…which is sometimes preceded by a shivering all over my body’.
See how similar this is to today?
Many strange manifestations and false prophecies occured in their midst and the group became very authoritarian demanding unquestioning obedience to their leaders, and a giving up of the personal will and reason (eg their minds just like today).
There was apparent infighting and schisms among the prophets. False prophets were detected in their midst, J A Gruber claimed thus – ‘Whenever a false spirit was present in the assembley, Gruber recieved a warning in the form of ‘an extraordinary shaking of the head and shivering of the mouth’. (Stacey Campbell style?)
In time, notably many of the prophets fell away from the faith or seemingly lost their way.
[J A Gruber crossed to America and became involved with German groups within the First Great Awakening, and The Community of True Inspiration filtered to the Amana Society of today].
John Wesley said the French prophets “think to attain the end without the means” and that their revelations contradicted the Law and the Testimony – meaning that while such manifestations might be from God they had no validity in and of themselves. The test of the prophecy and manifestations being they must conform to the testimony of scripture and of awakened Christians in a new birth – and they did not. He saw a young prophetess Mary Plewitt manifesting and said of her manifestations “the motion must be either hysterical or artificial.”
However Wesley was not against dreams and visisons or even heavenly manifestations and feelings. He attempted to distinguish between divine inspiration and “enthusiasm” which he said was false and imaginary. He wrote that weak minds could pervert visions “to an idle use” but he also strongly said “does it follow that visions and dreams in general are bad branches of a bad root? God forbid!”
Charles Wesley wrote of an Isaac Hollis that “he gobbled like a turkey cock”. When at the Fetter Lane Society, a man groaned, screamed and roared out, Charles wrote he was no offended by it, nor edified. Charles spoke to Count Zinzendorf about such ‘motions, visions and dreams’ and was confirmed in his dislike for them.
There were claims that John Wesley encouraged certain fleshly manifestations in his meetings, and that Wesley brought them on (whether he was conscious or not) by the power of suggestion and giving cues such as praying for a visible manifestation of some token of God’s favour.
George Whitefield had concerns about trances and convulsions and motions and manifestations in meetings and was concerned that some revivalists encouraged them, to hype the audience and draw the crowds. Whitefildl wrote to John Wesley that should he give ’similar encouragement to those convulsions…how many would cry out each night! I think it is tempting God to require such signs……..the devil interposes. I think it will encourage the French Prophets, take people from the written word, and make the depend on visions, convulsions, etc., more than on the promises and precepts of the gospel.’ (source – letter to Wesley 25th June 1739)
TODD BENTLEY~ THE NEW BREED AND THE false ANOINTING~ JOEL’S ARMY
Jacksonville, Fl. June 24, 2008
Dear Saints
William Branham’s Jesus Only, Latter Rain, angel healing doctrines was rejected as heresy by all major established Pentecostal Churches. It has returned with many of the grandsons preachers receiving these unscriptural teachings because of miracles.
At the same time of Branham’s ministry there were many men blazing a trail across the nation preaching the healing message, that the Bible is God’s Word and He can back up His Word through Miracles. And many brought the message to the church and it was received. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES TOO.
However, the Spirit and the word will always agree. There is a very powerful evil spirit of Kundalini moving through the church. “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness”. 2 Thess. 2:9-12. KJV
Look at this film and weep for the Church. Is this coming to your Church?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwlRisYyGAI
I think you will agree that the above clip looks as though these people were in an insane asylum instead of a church. The sleeping church is totally unprepared for this unleashing of evil spirits and many souls will end up in hell because of the spiritual blindness of the leaders.
There is an evil working within the Christian that will destroy it unless men and women repent and ask the Lord Jesus to reveal His truth to the believers. THE WOLF IS IN THE SHEEP PEN.
It is the love of the truth and Jesus that will get you into His Kingdom. Jesus can and will do miracles but the sign that must be discerned in last days are those who have a sign and wonders ministry. We must test the spirits to see if they be of God. See this scripture.
“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles , which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty,”( Rev 16:13-14). KJV
SAINTS GO BACK TO THE WORD OF GOD AND SEEK YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS
Seek the truth through His Word and not the power of miracles.

Peter Wagner and the New Breed of “prophets and apostles” from the Signs and Wonders Movement, joining the Latter Rain Movement, met last night at the Lakeland Revival to endorse Todd Bentley’s Angel EMMA-O, (a demon from the underworld) anointing Bentley as the number one revivalist of the century! Hardly anyone is testing the spirits to guard the sheep.
Fordsham’s prophecy.

Did you see the great commission and the coronation of Todd Bentley last night as the “chosen one” to go into every city of the world and open “Portals” (Star Gates)? The only thing missing was a crown. http://www.scribd.com/doc/3356633/-Todd-Bentley-DEMONIC-STAR-GATE-PORTALS-TO-THIRD-HEAVENS-
Peter Wagner brought about 25 of his “apostles” to anoint Todd Bentley and his demonic revival to go into the world and spread his demonic Kundalini power.

I have been in the ministry for 35 years but have never seen anything as bizarre and crazy as this religious god Baal oriented spectacle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc4g6UMCATA
Bob Jones, Todd Bentley’s spiritual “portal to the Third Heaven” mentor, sent “a word” that “the poison” against Todd Bentley would end last night. Well, all that happened at this ritual just added more fuel to fire to those who are watching spiritual disaster being unleashed on the Body of Christ and the world.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsi-0LRY_R8&eurl=http://www.deceptionbytes.com/StrangePrayer
I’m so busy in my own call from Jesus, that I’ve never listened to these people before, so I don’t know them by names. But one of the “apostles” prophesied that God had called Bentley to open the “Portals” in every city around the world. Another one related that he knew him when Todd went through his “dark night of the soul”. He was truly called as “God’s” number one man of the hour.

And who will ever forget Stacy Campbell’s devil manifesting her powerful Kundalini spirit to prophesy over Todd and lay her hand on his stomach to impart the Kundalini cobra devils to him?

These VIP’s, “very important people” of Satan’s Army, led by Peter Wagner, will be opening their demonic portal to the nations beginning today. . . see this link . . .
http://www.scribd.com/doc/3566516/Todd-Bentley-Dark-Night-of-the-Soul-Kundalini-Awakening-MYSTICAL-SEEKERS-
Peter Wagner evidently is chosen by the government to supernaturally open the “PORTAL TO THE NATIONS.”
This group of “respected” Christians is nothing more than full fledged occultists of the highest order. They are gathering people and working their powers of darkness to open the door of the church to snatch the souls of Christians and turn them into spiritual zombies to prepare them to receive the Antichrist.
As far as Bob Jones’ prophecy to Todd Bentley that, what he calls “the poison” would stop last night, this e mail breaks his prophecy and tomorrow many more of God’s watchers will speak out concerning this travesty that was committed against the Body of Christ through this commission. I say in Jesus’ name that every Saint that has courage to stand and tell the church about this evil New Age demonic movement will stand and flourish. The Latter Rain Movements and Joel’s Army are commissioned by Satan to ravage the Church of Jesus Christ and work to push the Church into the NWO.
http://www.deceptionbytes.com/JoelsArmy
The Saints will stand in the power and might of the Mighty Jesus Christ covered by His blood and promises of His Word. They will declare the Word of God and that Jesus Christ is the one way back to God. They will be dogs that will bark loudly that the wolves are attacking the sheep. They will declare that Jesus is alive and deliver those who have become entrapped by the powers of darkness. This will be the churches finest hour.
Jesus will strengthen His people and will not lose one. He will truly gather His beloved ones and protect them during this great conflict of the soul scalpers and the spiritual kidnaper’s who are working with demonic angels such as EMMA -O. As you will remember, this is the demonic angel chosen to lead Todd Bentley’s crazy revival. This is the evil angel that was chosen to lead the demonic end time Joel’s Army. Check out the research of who this commander and chief is here. http://www.scribd.com/doc/2988066/ANGEL-EMMA-O-Todd-Bentley-GOD-FROM-THE-UDERWORLD-TODD-BENTLEY
You will discover that EMMA -O is none other than the “judge of the underworld!
When the “bloggers exposed this demon, then Todd Bentley and Stephen Strader demoted EMMA O and simply stopped talking about “her.” and Bentley took her off his web site and removed her from all his articles. I BELIEVE THAT EMMA- O IS TRULY ANGRY WITH THEM.
http://viewfromthewall.blogspot.com/2008/06/excellent-videos-on-todd-bentley.html
Knowledge is power. And there are many that are exposing these occult driven people that are ritualistically “Opening portals” for the demonic angels to come through to fight in the final conflict of this world. Actually, if our Father God wanted these portals opened to let the evil forces into our world, He’d simply open them. But man is being used by Satan to open them as an instrument to be used for the world’s destruction. It’s all a lie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNGPjFYdgJw&feature=related
Because the true church is hidden in the Glory of His Blood, they believe that they are winning because of the mind controlled robots that are running to see them. They are wrong. Jesus has a church and He will return soon.
Please do pray for the ones that are sticking their necks out to expose this powerful satanic conspiracy of ‘Open up the heavens to let the forces of demonic demons enters our world.” Believe me, these demonically oriented people are praying for our deaths. Continue to pray for the little sheep they are being ensnared by these wolves in sheep clothing. The wolves are in the sheep pens because many pastors are spiritually blind and if the blind lead the blind, they’ll both fall into the pit.
2 Chron. 7:14-16
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attend unto the prayer that is made in this place.
16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
KJV This last posting of yours is outstanding. No one who reads it has any excuse for remaining deceived.
E-mail from Janice
Pat, last night was the second time in my life that I believe I have witnessed a changing of the guard in the spirit realm where the enemy’s forces were replaced by stronger, higher ranked ones, and in greater numbers. They were given a legal right by that farce in Lakeland with the so-called apostles and prophets commissioning Todd. Please make sure that you have a faithful band of intercessors covering you as you continue in the forefront of what is now, I believe equivalent to a world war in the spirit realm. There was a line crossed last night by those men that can’t be undone. God is still on the real throne, but Christian leaders have just enthroned another god over themselves and their followers. I am heart broken.
I will be praying for you. God bless you with His protection, wisdom, discernment, provision, empowerment, courage, and strength. And may you abide under the shelter of His wings.

From: Subj: A Personal Note from Chuck Pierce in Africa Regarding Revival!
A Personal Note from Chuck Pierce in Africa Regarding Revival!
Dear Friends,
We have had several people write with great concerns about the current move of God that has been stirring in Lakeland, Atlanta, Dallas and other areas of our nation. Let me share some things with you. I actually believe this letter would be worth reading as you continue praying for us in Africa.
We have made our way into Northern Nigeria. Continue to pray for us. Life here is what you may have imagined in Africa: tin roofs, raining, hazy mountains in the distance and bugs buzzing. When we got five miles from the Compound in the rural area of Kafanchan at the Throne Room Trust Ministry, International Prayer Village, you could feel the tangible Presence of His Spirit. I love being here, even though the surroundings are not what I am normally accustomed to; the food is different, and well, yes, there are many different creatures. The main issue is this: in the midst of this environment, I am not afraid of being infected by malaria or getting dysentery because I am in a different land. The people here are some of the most gracious in all the world.
I see that some individuals view “moves of God” this way: they see all the dangers, they are afraid that they will have a demon transferred to them, they analyze every move and shake and scrutinize doctrinally everything that is happening. This may be the only way that some can process their relationship with the Lord and the Body of Christ. I know that many would not like to be here in northern Nigeria in this rural area, nor would they like to be wearing the kingly, African traditional clothing that I am wearing this evening. Some of us are more adventurous than others. Some need to fully test the water before they swim. Personally, I have found that there is great joy in watching God’s people express themselves, work through their issues, learn to discern both good and evil and continually mature in Him.
I was just in Zambia. We saw a great reconciliation of the nation and people with the ex-President. This man had a great reproach from his terms in office. However, God in His grace chose to bring him forth, humble him and forgive him, and use him to change a nation. From a political standpoint, many would have wished he would have stayed estranged from the Body. However, I chose to go with the Spirit of God above political party divisions and reconcile him back into God’s Kingdom plan.
We at Glory of Zion International have chosen to number ourselves in intercession with what is happening in Lakeland and other places throughout the world. Some have written asking me to reject Todd Bentley. GZI does not have a philosophy or mindset to reject anyone. We watch, pray, and then try to communicate what the Lord is saying to help the overall Body of Christ advance.
I have seen others get offended because key leaders commissioned Todd as a modern day evangelist. We at GZI have no problems with this. Please know that we are living in an age where the Apostolic gift in the Body has come into a new position and era of authority. I was very excited to read Peter Wagner’s report (you may go to our web site to read this) on the commissioning service in Lakeland. I admire Ché Ahn, Bill Johnson, and John Arnott. I can now rest in Him, knowing that if things get way out of sync, they can help Todd make adjustments so the Spirit can keep moving.
We will continue to pray that the Lord raise Evangelists all over the world who can reach the harvest fields today. Yes, they may look different than Billy Graham, and they may have experienced some unusual happenings that perhaps will be better communicated as they grow in the Lord. But overall they are stirring the Body of Christ, leading people to the Lord, and doing the works of Jesus.
Let me share with you a personal experience. When Pam and I were in the Baptist Church in the early ’80’s, we were in a “move of God.” The Fullness Movement had touched the Baptist Church in the late ’70s, led by Jim Hylton, Ras Robinson, Jack Taylor and others. We had had some incredible meetings at our church. Many had gotten saved, gotten right with the Lord and filled with the Spirit of God. I loved this time. Pam and I both reminisce over it and call it “the Glory Days”. Then James Robison had his annual meeting and invited John Wimber to minister. Many of you remember our story of Pam’s barrenness. You can read about it in two or three of the books that we have written. We were told by all of our leadership how this “move” had gotten way out of hand, and now that John Wimber (who had no Baptist roots), was invading James Robison’s meeting, we should all stay away from these gatherings. (You should know that John Wimber and Peter Wagner helped revive signs and wonders in the ’80s.) Well, I heard God very clearly tell Pam and me to go in January, 1984 to the James Robison meeting where John Wimber was speaking. While we were there, the Spirit of God fell on my wife and sovereignly filled her. His power knocked the clots out of her uterus and He dramatically healed her. When the Spirit of God fell on Pam she said, “You were right! There are demons everywhere, but I AM HEALED!”
This was not about John Wimber. This was not about Baptists. This was not about controversy. This test was ours! The situation was about us following God without fear so He could reward us with an incredible blessing. Pam became pregnant two weeks later and continued to be pregnant for the next 10 years of our life. We had six wonderful children. I’m so thankful I listened to the Spirit of God and did not let religious fear rule us. There were others with us that were not touched at all by the meetings. As a matter of fact, they did not appreciate at all the way John Wimber ministered. However, in the midst of his ministry, the Spirit of God ministered to us and changed the course of our lives.
I am honored that God brought me into alignment with Peter and Doris Wagner after I embraced the move of God that had been stirred by he and John Wimber. We have now been together for 17 years. During that time, I have continued to get the best God has to offer from the revivals in Argentina, Toronto, the “Laughter Movement”, Brownsville, and any other fresh breath of wind that blows. I have many friends who have great cautions over experiential manifestations and extra-Biblical sensational happenings. I heed those friends’ voices and listen carefully. This does not keep me from experiencing what God is doing. I love what Bishop Bill Hamon says, “Eat the meat and spit out the bones and you will find yourself nourished.”
Recently, I have been pondering the first several verses of Genesis. In the midst of a wreck and ruined, chaotic, without-form earth, the Spirit of God began to hover. Once the Spirit began to hover, God could speak into the earth realm and pull forth creativity. He did this for six straight days. But notice God’s order: He didn’t try and set in order the sixth day before the first day. He didn’t try to place the fourth day before the second day. Little by little, as the Spirit hovered, order came and man was offered a new position as a result. That is how I view every move of God.
What I would encourage you to do is to keep discerning by the Word and the Spirit, but to be open to see the Lord move in a new way. The disciples could not understand why the Lord would go to Samaria and visit with the woman at the well. However, because of His love and boldness to break a religious standard, a whole city was saved (John 4). The Lord is preparing to save entire cities today.
Thank God that Jesus talked to this woman – a person with a past, a Samaritan, and a woman. He was not afraid of His reputation being marred. Recently, a letter from one of the major Bible churches in Denton went out to leaders in our city on the doctrine of women and how they should have a subservient role in the Body of Christ in public ministry. Prior to this letter going out, I had invited Cindy Jacobs to minister at Glory of Zion on Sunday, July 6. I want you to know that I have been a champion for women ministers throughout the years. I am so very excited to have Cindy with us on July 6th because women are welcome to minister in Denton, Texas. I would never shut the door of ministry for her to come into this city because of man’s opinion.
Neither would I, Robert Heidler or any leader that is aligned with me, shut the door to Keith Miller or Todd Bentley to come to Denton to minister what the Spirit of God is doing in their lives. We consider it a privilege that God has opened the gate for Spirit-led ministry to come into Denton. We are glad that He “needs” to come to Denton just like He “needed” to go to Samaria. You are always welcome to come to Denton. As a matter of fact, you might “need” to come here to gain your next release from the Lord. You can go to Keith Miller’s meeting. You can come to our Firstfruits Gathering. You can come be with Cindy Jacobs on Sunday, July 6. You can come to Tuesday Morning Prayer. You are invited to come any time and you will not be rejected as you come into this city.
Keep praying for us. We will be home on Tuesday.
Blessings,
Chuck D. Pierce
p.s. Don’t miss Robert Heidler’s next message on Sunday morning on “The Kingdom River is Rising.” If you want to know what I believe about angels, you can order The Worship Warrior: Ascending in Worship, Descending in War. To know more about Pam’s testimony, you can purchase One Thing.
I would like to comment on this article mentioning the Toronto Blessing and how easily people get led astray.
I attended a charismatic church for a whle in the mid 1990’s; probably around 1994, but it was in the UK. The ‘Toronto Blessing’ had moved there, and I was disturbed by it. I never got the ’shakes’ myself, I am rather glad to say, now, although at the time I felt very disappointed and left out, as if there was someting going on and I was not being invited to the party.
I think this is partly what makes these things so dangerous, especially among young people who desperately want to ‘fit in’ and belong. It is heart-breaking really to think that they so desparately want to serve the Lord but are led astray by these leaders; it is not really their fault; young people are very trusting, and that’s how it should be.
Anyhow, as we all know, the movement fizzled out. But then there was another one that I got involved in; or rather stayed on the edges of; the G12 movement, which happened at a church I went to a few years later. Although there was no obvious physical manifestation associated with it, there was the same, rather creepy acceptance that what was happening was a new vision from the Lord, transmitted to us from our leaders, so we had to go along with it.
What I am trying to say is that while it would be wrong to throw out every supernatural manifestation as being ‘of the devil’ (after all, Jesus had many supernatural manifestations) there seems to be a big reluctance to test the spirits; or as soon as somebody has the boldness to do so, they are somehow ostracised by the rest of the church.
I remember being ‘vetted’ to see if I had the G12 vision, at the time, and so I pretended to go along with it because I was living on my own, and lonely, and wanting to fit in.
I think a terrible injustice gets done to people who were in my position, because all they really want is fellowship, but they are pushed and shoved into going along with a thing because everybody else is. Its a kind of coersion, I think, and it does incalculable damage.
Strangely, when it is all over, usually the leaders who told the flock that they had a vision from God never take the time to explain that they misled the flock; they are too proud somehow. I feel this is another serious problem, and I feel they should come clean, and repent, and ask the people to forgive them for leading them astray; I feel if this does not happen then the door is left open for something else deceptive to come in.
Miriam:
I was just going to print this out to show my husband but was troubled by the patholliday posts. What is your take? She seems to be leaving the obviously false Toronto “blessing” up for grabs. Thanks for any input you may have.
I do not agree with everything Pat Holliday says, or how she reaches her conclusions – BUT as far as I am aware she is against Toronto.
