Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God's word

Stacey Campbell’s Wild Head Shaking Prophecy at Lakeland

A number of people have commentated on the bizarre manifestations accompanying ‘prophetess’ Stacey Campbell as she prophesied over Todd Bentley on June 23rd during the apostolic commissioning service at Lakeland as shown here. As Stacey Campbell spoke, her head shook wildly from side to side, and hissing sounds were heard.

Bizarre as this may seem to some, this activity is not that unusual in new wave charismatic circles - I have seen similar strange activity that started at the time of the Toronto Blessing when people prophesied. The more people manifested, shook, grunted or groaned as they spoke, and sometimes even the louder they spoke, so the more ‘anointed’ and ‘accurate’ and ‘important’ and ‘worthy’ the prophesy and the ‘prophet’ was thought to be, and the more people ‘listened’ and took notice. This assumption was far from true in reality though. I saw the manifesting people’s prophetic track records over a period of several years. The more they manifested, so the more nonsensical false prophecy they seemingly produced. It was obviously lying spirits that led them and witnessed to their prophecy.

Anyway, for those who interested, here is another video of Stacey Campbell, wife of Wes Campbell, manifesting at one of Patricia King’s meetings some months ago. What she says is absolute junk, but she must be anointed they say, because look at her manifest away!  Which spirit is she manifesting by? Test the Spirits anyone?

  1. And here are all those supposed apostles and prophets standing there and not a one of them stops her, corrects her or in any way dissociates from what she is manifesting. Where is their discernment? Why would I want to listen to anything they want to tell me or come under their leadership?

This is what their movement is all about….the acceptance of anything that smacks of the supernatural without testing the spirits or keeping order.

  3. Another one of the regulars at my former church…the pastor used to make sure that Stacey prophesied over her granddaughter, because she believed in “super apostles’ kids.”

These manifestations look so much like the Kundalini experiences- the hissing and the violent, uncontrollable shaking especially. In the latter part of the video when she says, “aha aha…” it seems like she she almost said apostate stone, but caught herself. hmmm.

What is the possibility that the “spirit” in her making her manifest doesn’t like to hear the Word of God spoken?

How can people think this is God moving?! why do they think this is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit?

  9. I am struggling to watch the clip of Stacy’s ‘prophecy’ I feel ill actually, as i watch it.
And just thinking about it i get so upset. I know that WE all feel disgusted, grieved and angry about all of this, but imagine our Father in Heaven. Can you imagine the grief he is feeling as his flock En mass are being hoodwinked by this stuff.
I know that i know that i know that it is impossible to become deceived by rubbish like this when you put your full trust in the word, and give significant time to being a student of the word and a man/woman of sincere prayer.
I am speechless after seeing even a part of that clip, i dont know if i will watch the rest.
    It troubles my spirit.

  10. I’ve just watched the first video and I have to say that it’s one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen. I’d expect Stacy’s neck muscles to be seriously sprained by such rapid violent shaking and would be suprised if she’s not in agonising pain because of it. I’m not sure about the hissing noises – they may just be caused by her blowing or breathing into the microphone.

But when I look at it, I become very worried. My instinctive feeling (and I’ve been a Christian for 25 years and seen a lot in that time) is that it’s the manifestations of a demonic spirit. It certainly doesn’t look like anything from God. I am by no means an expert in this area but I’d suggest that she needs deliverance as a matter of urgency.

I thought this extract from Kenneth Macraes diary of a Free Church minister might be interesting in light of the above.
And this was in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland!

“By 1938 the phenomena of swooning, of out cries, of temporary paralysis of limbs and muscular spasms or jerks drew much attention. The press searched for stories. People would collapse, others rise together, some weep or call in Gaelic on their relatives. Some lost all power to their limbs and would be carried to other rooms to recover. These things caused controversy. Some ministers affirmed the physical effects as god’s. In their thinking All the phenomena was linked to revival. Others were concerned how the media were presenting the situation.
MacRae spoke at one meeting of the Free Church Stornoway on the:
Unusual features of the present religious movement in Lewis.
He was convinced there was a revival in Lewis and a work of God. But he wanted people to consider some of the peculiar features of it.
In particular MacRae wished the meeting to consider that in Park… convulsive fits.
    Grimshader …trembling or tremors…with crying.
At point and Shader trances and women praying and exhorting ( …and a good deal of disorder).
    He noted further
Those or some could not give an explanation to what was happening. Rather than looking for the work of the Holy Spirit people were disappointed if there was no manifestations.
Secondly MacRae saw a sense of superior order of Christians taking hold with those who had experienced some of the manifestations.
He felt that matters might lead to unscriptural extravagances.
He also talked and reported on other happenings in the country, quoting Kilsyth and Cambuslang.
He concluded that the manifestations were neither good or evil but hysteria.
He quoted the medical observations for hysteria.
Highly strung people mainly young women
    Infectious
Associated with convulsions tremors and trances
Attacks are always in an audience never alone.
Those effected say they could not help themselves.
If wanted to those effected could have controlled themselves.
    Delusions and hallucinations
    Consciousness not lost.
Macrae was concluding that mass hysteria was happening in Lewis and his concern was separating it from the work of the Holy Spirit.
Hi did specifically acknowledge the work of the Holy Spirit at that time.
Quoting the action of McChenye from Dundee. He was supporting the need to have religious meetings closed by 11.00 pm. “Lest Good be evil spoken””

  13. You’re right about the angels ohhowiloveJesus. But we can pray to God to release the angels. We know that they are above us since Jesus had to make Himself lower than the angels in order to come to earth so we may be born again. Why would the holy angels of God be commanded by people that are born in sin? I’m glad you asked that question because I had to look it up myself. In Christ. Glenda

I saw Patricia King last night on God TV. Talking to a man I have seen before but don’t know his name. They said the reason there was opposition was because there was a jealous spirit behind it.

What do they suppose we are jealous of? People like me have tasted what they have and spat it out. We know that what we have now in Jesus is so much better.

If Patricia ever reads this I would like her to know I am not in any way jealous of what they have. I’d rather worship God in Spirit and Truth!

  23. Brian,

I read your article on Ann Lee, but respectfully your knowledge of the Shakers and Ann Lee and James Wardley and the Wardley Society is sadly lacking. I have written several pieces on these people on this site as they are related to the French Prophets.

I wrote about Ann Lee on this site only yesterday in the next post to this one! http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/06/26/learning-from-lacy-mazel-and-stacey-campbells-spiritual-manifestations/

Strange things and manifestations did indeed happen among them, but this group were blasphemous – they thought Ann to be the female incarnation of Christ, had strange milleniast almost Manifest Sons theology and lots of fase prophecies – and they spent hours on silly dances. They danced in the nude, they lied to cover up, they were cultic and heavy shepherding, all were commanded to be celibate including married couples, they broke up familes, they worked people to the bone. Ann Lee having a huge thing about anti-sex after an abusive marriage and drunk adulterising husband – and Ann Lee towards the end of her life had to get drunk to get spiritual highs. Was this the Spirit of God that led them?

    If you are interested in investigating the spirit behind Ann Lee then two really good books are;

  25. The French Prophets also imparted their spirit to Johann Adam Gruber of the Community of True Inspiration when they visited Germany. He thought it very odd and strange at first and thought it demonic, but that he also felt ‘a secret joy’ so went with it. After getting ’some’ he convulsed for 36 hours before prophesying, one word at a time, then two hours straight.

The false impartation from the French prophets, was described by Blasius Daniel Makinet thus; ‘a gentle and pleasant glow which gradually becomes more intense and also fills the external body’. There followed either trembling or convulsions ‘and in the centre of this internal fire the word of the Lord is born’. See how similar this is to today?

Many strange manifestations and false prophecies occured in their midst and the group became very authoritarian demanding unquestioning obedience to their leaders, and a giving up of the personal will and reason (eg their minds just like today).

There was apparent infighting and schisms among the prophets. False prophets were detected in their midst, J A Gruber claimed thus – ‘Whenever a false spirit was present in the assembley, Gruber recieved a warning in the form of ‘an extraordinary shaking of the head and shivering of the mouth’. (Stacey Campbell style?)

In time, notably many of the prophets fell away from the faith or seemingly lost their way.

[J A Gruber crossed to America and became involved with German groups within the First Great Awakening, and The Community of True Inspiration filtered to the Amana Society of today].

  26. Brian

James Robe of Kilsyth compared the manifestations at Cambuslang to those of the French Prophets -

The french prophets had their bodily agitations from a supernatural power, but in Cambuslang, “the distresses upon the bodies of our people proceed in a natural way from their great fear of God’s wrath.” None of the people claimed to get divine inspiration or visions, instead “they give us a rational account of themselves, know and remember what they say and do.” They would be able to specifically point to something said that caused them to have distress in their minds that then naturally affected their bodies, tembling, fainting or crying out (note: not the same manifestations at all as Toronto or Lakeland, even remotely), til they converted.

Because the converts were able to give rational and distinct accounts of the grounds and methods of their awakenings, the leaders said it proved that the physical phenomona was not the result of mechanism (hypnosis) or demonic influence.

The work in Cambuslang was far longer lasting. Why? Because it was deeper and genuine with genuine lasting conversions.

To compare Cambuslang with Lakeland is ludicrous. The manifestations are not the same, nor are the conversions, nor is the gospel!

Many thanks for the clarity and expertise on Ann lee and other topics. I am new to this site but so glad I came across it. There have been recent meetings in Scotland after the Lakeland impartation, which on the face of it seem lead by Godly people in Scotland who it would seem have not questioned anything. There is a feeling that because it is “fitting a particular slant” it must be right, and of God.

I agree Cambuslang and Lewis were different from Lakeland.

When people seek the “BUZZ” RATHER THAN THE CREATOR there can be real problems.

As you have indicated before the discerning of the Spirits is important.
Why on questioning, are so many defensive and challenging the questioner’s acceptance of the mmiraculaous, unless they have something to hide. Could it be that some are indeed egotistic showpersons.?

Where is the grace in all this?
In the uk, “revival” as a definition, would include a moving of all people in the area to a humbling towards God and a deep sense of “depravity” in and outside the Church. There would be an earnest seeking toward God and a resultant effect on the community.

“silversmith out of business” “Pubs with reduced turnover”.
That might take time in the meantime discerning the spirits can not be ignored.

    Blessings.

  28. Paul, in speaking of the Judaizers: “As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!” -Gal 5:12

Is it wrong for me to think: “I wish she’d shake her head so hard that it falls off her neck.” ??

The Judaizers taught that if you weren’t circumcised and followed the Law of Moses, you weren’t a true follower. The modern-day ones teach that you have to embrace fanciful delusion and come through their prophetic gatekeepers to REALLY get with God.

My heart breaks too at this whole spectacle.

Peter said to Simon the Magician, “For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity”. These false teachers and false prophets are leading others into idolatry by fashioning a god who suits there needs. This is deplorable and truly grieves the Holy Spirit.

I say that everyone that is in opposition to this sickening cancerous tumor of a gathering, get together in Lakeland and demand by speaking out loud that this end now!

Exd 33:17 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the LORD said, Behold, [there is] a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

  37. Living Journey comments on the above link:-

Here is a post that has a link to a video of Patricia King from Elijahlist, which then goes on to Stacey Campbell. In this video you can see her manifestations which are severe in nature; extreme head shaking with a hissing sound. She also whizzes around in circles — the Sufi’s do this [dervish spins] — and what she has to say is very interesting.

She speaks about the living stones, her whole message is that the Church has been/is being destroyed just as the temple stones were thrown down as Jesus prophesied. The stones contain his spirit [ I ask whose spirit that may be? In fact so does she later on!].

The key to understanding, according to Stacey Campbell, is not to discern the form [the appearance of this new building], but the key is to discern the brick, then she asks Who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you in [G]god? She asks this question several times [Is she asking who this ancient stone/brick is?].

Then she goes on to say how important it is to recognise the stones. She then goes on and says… aha, aha, I see that stone, I know that stone, then she slips up BIG TIME and calls it an apostate stone, then corrects herself and calls them apostolic stones, a prophet stone, a healing stone. [At least that is what is sounds like to me].

She then says, when you can discern the stone [singular] correctly, you can build a multiplicity of containers that hold life. [Presuming these containers hold this spirit who she has previously questioned as to his identity and who he is in G[g]od]. She then says that these stones are eternal. These stones come down from heaven, as a city that is adorned like a bride, she quotes Revelation 21. [This sounds like dominionism to me, this will NOT happen until after the 1000 year reign of Christ!]

She then speaks about these stones being built together with other stones that will build ONE container of life to house the presence of [G]god. [Yep... she is definitely speaking about Kingdom Now, Restorationist/Domionion theology].

During this whole time, the music is played intensely when she is really, really moved. Then it tapers off when she is less emotional/spiritual. This looks VERY orchestrated at best, as one medium is fed by the other. Or very spiritually driven. Which spirit is driving this force, that is the question?

She then says that all the bricks, both jagged and smooth, fit together perfectly for this ONE container for him, for him, for him, let it be on earth like it will be eternally in heaven. Interesting choice of words… Like it WILL be in heaven, I’m not sure what to make of this! Sounds different from what the bible says about the Kingdom. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as IT IS in heaven. This wreaks of Dominionism to the very core. In fact, I have found several NEW AGE versions or interpretations of the Lord’s Prayer which really open your eyes to the agenda behind this spiritual Kingdom that is now being formed with the help of teachers, prophets [albeit false] and social gospel leaders … And restore that which has been usurped by injustice to its rightful owners, as we restore to others that which is not our own.

[The video of Stacey Campbell can be found HERE]

It has been noted by some of those who have commented around the blogosphere that Stacey Campbell’s shaking only happens when she is NOT reading from the bible…when she opens the Word, the manifestations stop. Some have said…

Did anyone else notice that the manifesting/hissing/shaking stopped when she opened her Bible and read from it and then it returned violently as soon as she shut the Bible?

What is the possibility that the “spirit” in her making her manifest doesn’t like to hear the Word of God spoken?

  38. I’ve read a few of these comments, and I must say…I am shocked!! God truly, siad “TOUCH NOT MY ANNOINTED” It is not our place to judge this. If it is not of God, he will judge it, and correct it. I would be VERY, VERY, afraid, if it turns out to be him, and I have spoken a word against it. I believe we are living in the end times, and I know many false prophets will rise up, but who am I to judge this as one of them? A house divided by itself cannot, will not stand. They have not spoken a word against God, or the words in the bible. God said he will use the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. These things seem foolish to some of us, but what if it all is God? NONE of us have a heaven or hell to put neither one of them in, so that being said, I think we need to try the spirit, by the spirit, and see what the spirit is saying to each of us individually. God will tear down each and everything he did not build. My advice is to watch as well as pray, but, by all means, we must not judge. I promise, if they are not of God, he will reveal it!
God Bless and keep you all!

  39. Oh, and side note…the interpretation of tongues is needed ONLY when a person is being spoken directly to. If a person is praying in tongues, he aint (sic) talking to nobody else but God, who already knows what he is saying. But if a person is phopesying in tongues to another, interpretation is needed.

Comment by Taurus Fitzpatrick | June 30, 2008

  40. Hi Taurus,
But these false prophets HAVE spoken words against God. Their prophecies put Todd in God’s place, which clearly shows they are NOT prophesying by God’s Holy Spirit.

In video 3, Stacey Campbell speaks against God several times by attributing to Todd things that only God can do. Stacey’s comments are in quotes, labeled A, B, C (some psshsh and commentary omitted). See
http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/06/25/videos-of-c-peter-wagners-apostles-prophets-commissioning-todd-bentley/ and comment #26 for transcript [between 3.37 and 5.09 mins]. Also note that I did not capitalize the personal pronouns for God because it’s not our El-Shaddai behind these prophecies.

    A) “and Todd, I’ve chosen you because of your background, because of your background, because of your background to release my nature when you release my gifts.”

–> WHO but the LORD HIMSELF can release HIS nature or HIS gifts? But here is Stacey prophesying that Todd will release God’s Nature and His Gifts.

–> What spirit do you say is behind this prophecy?

    B) “pssshhh and you will teach people how to behold god until they are transformed from glory to glory.”

–> 2 Cor 3:18 says it is the Holy Spirit Who transforms us, not Todd teaching us how to transform ourselves.

–> Again, which spirit would elevate anything above God?

    C) “and you are a first fruits of that generation of nation changers that will release the glory of god in all its fullness in jesus name.”

–> But what does the BIBLE SAY ABOUT GOD AND HIS GLORY?! “I am the LORD, that is My Name; I will not give My Glory to another. (Isaiah 42:8)”

re. using the foolish things to confound the wise: 1 Corinthians says, “Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

What has this passage of Scripture have to do with unusual behaviour, manifestations etc.?

  43. Something to think about. Remember when Snake lady said this, “Todd, I’ve chosen you because of your background, because of your background, because of your background to release my nature when you release my gifts.” Well, we all know it was not God speaking through her. So who was it? Satan. Satans’ desire was to release things through Tod Bentley. Satans’ nature. Satans’ “gifts.”

From now on anytime any of these evil people say anything, I am going to see it as coming straight from the mouth of the enemy because there is no ttruth in these people. If so, it is very little, just enough to suck in those who are too lazy or stupid not to test anything.

“release my nature when you release my gifts.” Yep, sounds like the devil to me!
