Todd Bentley Holy Ghost Shoomba Impartation

Todd Bentley has started a Supernatural Training Center where he hopes to gather young people for a seven month’s long course. On the Fresh Fire website, Todd explained (before it was recently removed like other embrassing information showing up Todd – thanks Deception Bytes and the commentator for the heads’ up), that God has laid it on his heart to raise up spiritual sons and daughters.  It’s time for impartation, Todd states. He goes on to say that “we have an awesome school, its not like a Bible school, the focus of our school is the supernatural.”  

Todd stresses that it’s the experience  they are seeking.  It’s not just about the textbooks and reading and classes - the primary focus is on the supernatural.  But how can one genuinely have the godly supernatural without the foundation of the word of God? ‘Supernatural’ without the word of God as its very core = deception and the occult. Todd Bentley blatantly does not know the word of God on even the very basic foundational points, and demonstrates he does not know Jesus by what he says and does, yet he puts himself in a position to lead and teach and impart to others?! He can only  lead far astray, as he in fact does, with his mumbo jumbo mixture of occult and confused ‘Christian’ doctrine repackaged for the New Apostolic Reformation’s new breed of elitist biblical illiterates who are commanded not to think and just go with the flow like cult controlled zombies.

This ’supernatural’ course based on experience, and a common despising of the word of God, is then about an antichrist spirit and not the Spirit of God – for which spirit despises the Bible and considers all the past words spoken by the Spirit of God as unimportant, or only to be used as they see fit in twisting and distortions? The Holy Spirit can only testify to His word in its proper context, and true prophets led by the Holy Spirit can only testify to the past prophets led by their same Spirit. A prophet who does not back the words of Daniel, John, Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, Joel etc is no prophet of the Most High God! It is impossible! He who contradicts the Bible when he is led by the spirit, is not led by the Spirit of God. And Todd contradicts the word frequently, and more than that in the spirit of the antichrist arrogantly applies the unique Messianic promises in Psalm 2 to himself.

Todd’s alleged supernatural experiences and encounters only lead him and multitudes astray and away  from God. Surely anyone going on such a course with Todd’s headship and contagious impartations learns only how to blaspheme and become a false prophet, not a true prophet – for what has a false prophet and liar to give you apart from delusion? All Todd can do is falsely prophesy and blaspheme in the spirit of the antichrist, and then to lie to attempt to cover up the numerous embarassing bloopers he has made. And lie with repeated outrageous tall tales in the manner of Bob Jones. Todd Bentley and Bob Jones lying spirit is obviously catching, as can be demonstrated by other leaders now corrupted and telling tall tales and tolerating and even practicing wickedness they would not have done only months ago.

Todd’s ’spirit led course’ reminds me of James Davenport’s Shepherd’s Tent school which I wrote about here which focussed on inward feelings and “immediate dictations of the spirit” in prophecy.

“Davenport helped form the Shepherd’s Tent seminiary, to train Spirit-filled and Spirit-led evangelists and itinerant ministers who spurned wordly possessions and were guided and educated by the direct inspiration of God. However, it was only  the Holy Spirit’s direct revelation and direct guidance in direct inspiration, rather than the Holy Spirit’s guidance through the Bible that was sought. The students were instead led to prophesy and seek the gifts over knowledge of the word, inevitably went further astray, and even burned religious books. The school did not long survive the scandal of this. There was also the inevitable false prophecy.”

James Davenport was the minister who was said to have done more to damage the work in America’s First Great Awakening than any other man. He eventually realised he had been led astray by a spirit whom he thought was the ‘Spirit of God in high degree’, but was in fact when tested a false spirit belonging to the evil one. ‘Awful indeed’ James Davenport shuddered, as he tried to undo all the damage done from his prophetic leadings.

Todd Bentley’s ‘awful indeed’ spirits, impartations, teaching, prophecies and spirit-led course is very dangerous.

More clues are given to it’s real nature when Todd boasts that the course is about the supernatural, intensive “Holy Ghost Shoomba Impartation”. Why on earth does Todd use these odd words? If you are wondering what ‘Shoomba’ means, the urban dictionary here defines ‘Shooomba’ as:

‘To ward away evil spirits, said loud and long as one wave his hands in front of said object person. Known for getting rid of bad juju. Can also used to start faulty machinery or shut up x wife”. 

‘Shoomba’ is thus an occultic  expression – how odd that Todd goes out of the way to use this occultic term when there is absolutely no need to! Why?   Incidently, I have noticed how often Todd repeats things like a mantra when praying for people, and most often he shouts it loudly. Perhaps this is the ‘loud and long’ part of the shoomba. Regardless, this repetiveness actually indicates an ignorance about prayer and God’s character and demonstrates a lack  of faith,  and is babbling like the pagans do, who think for their many words they are heard – and it is what Jesus told us NOT to do. There is a video where Todd repetively shouts many times the same things over a lady in a wheelchair – and it still has no effect on her, regardless of the words he uses. (Todd is obviously hoping she will manifest to his shouts of ‘bam’ and look like she is being healed to get him off the hook, but he ends up being shown up badly when she does not manifest, despite her evident faith.)

Why would a genuinely spirit-filled minister use such an odd expression as ‘Shoomba’ related to the Holy Spirit and more than that apply it to an impartation given to his students?

The Fresh Fire website says they wish to impart Godly character into the student’s DNA (that is their “Divine Nature Activated”).  Apart from the blasphemous Manifest Sons of God/little gods doctrine being manifest here because of what they mean exactly by our ‘divine natures activated’, this ‘instant’ impartation of character ties in with something that Todd has previously preached on. He said that God somehow automatically divinely imparted him with character via passive soaking as God allegedly said He did not have time to wait for character being built the regular way. The ‘regular way’ being the Bible’s statement that our character is built by our wilful involvement in being conformed by the Spirit through our acts of repentence, dedication, consecration, submission, obedience, sacrifice, self-control, discipline, faith, long-suffering, hope and perseverence – and the renewing of our minds and the absorption of the word of God.

Apart from this ‘character impartation’ then being unbiblical and linked to a heresy and false prophecy, Todd Bentley’s own life, and the lives of his associates and mentors, more than demonstrates this claim to instant character or very quick divinely imparted character, to be false teaching and false prophecy because Todd does not have godly character!

Only proven BAD fruit and character is demonstrated by him – eg: blasphemy, arrogance, false prophecy, heresy, repeated lying and deceptions, sexual sin and hypocrisy, an antichrist spirit and a disregard for the word of God - so just like Mary Lavington, here, a manifesting French prophet who said she was sinless, who was judged for her lewd lifestyle and talk as well as her false words and manifestations, we can call Todd on this and say ‘false!’  and disown him.

Todd does not have good or godly character. How can he then supernaturally impart such character to others? Where can he lead people apart from dangerously astray? All he can impart is the doctrines and impartations of demons manifest from a false prophet and dangerous delusion. He is to be avoided like the plague – for he imparts a plague.
