Todd Bentley Lying Again About His Tattoos

I wrote before how Todd Bentley has been lying to the media about when he got his tattoos here. It can easily be shown when the majority of Todd Bentley’s tattoos and piercings were done – that is in the last few years, from when Todd was 28 years old plus;- that is long after his conversion and his ordination into ministry – not on or before conversion when he was seventeen/eighteen years old as he has claimed to the media.

Putting aside for now the question, should a convert get body art, especially with the subject matters Todd has on him,  why is Todd lying about when he got his body art, and why is he lying about his motives for getting it?  For he has variously claimed that Jesus told him to get his tattoos to reach a new generation, to saying that he had them before he converted, and that’s that they’re there, and he did not get them for spiritual reasons.

Some Todd supporters who full well know when he got his tats, but cannot reconcile the fact their idol is lying to them, are claiming the media must  have misreported what Todd said in the interview I reported on. Well, as well as my having heard Todd say the exact same thing on film in other media interviews, I also heard it directly from the horse’s mouth on a Lakeland broadcast recently.

On the 23rd June meeting at Lakeland (Todd’s commissioning service), this is what Todd said about his tattoos -

Todd claimed when he was 18 he said ‘God I want to be part of a global movement.’ When he was preaching to 20 people, he said ‘God, the biggest stadiums in the world are not going to be able to hold the masses.’   Todd said he wanted to preach to stadiums filled, but claims church people at the time said of him: ‘That tattooed preacher Todd Bentley, you’ll never go anywhere looking like that!’   My leadership team said: ‘Todd, I don’t know, you go all those tattoos on your body, I don’t know, they’re gonna hurt your ministry.’    ‘How many know God wants to use you as you are?’  then said Todd.  The crowd then whistled, cheered and clapped.

Todd claims that early on in his conversion, people said he would never be anything in the church because of all his body art – inferring he looked just like he does today to the Lakeland crowd. He claims even his leadership team said he would be held back by his looks. But this was lies - the evidence shows NO visible tattoos on his body in the photos and videos from just a couple of years ago. The evidence shows Todd has recently undergone a radical new look adding the piercings and body art all over himself. So why lie – to try and detract the heat from the critics? Whatever the reason, this continued deliberate deception is evidently not the actions of a man of God, and it is worrying too that nobody in the crowd or on the stage apparently had a problem with this either. (For the record Todd and his associates have frequently lied in the past few months about other things too). In the same service Todd blasphemed  by claiming to be the king on the holy hill in Psalm 2 to take the nations for himself. And nobody seemed to have a problem with that either.

Todd said both these things BEFORE he was commissioned and prophesied over by the new apostles and prophets led by C Peter Wagner.   The people there watching on and listening to the lies and blasphemy included C Peter Wagner and his wife Doris Wagner, Che Ahn, Bill Johnson, John Arnott, Stephen Strader, Carl Strader, Jeff Beecham, Rick Joyner, Sharon Stone, Georgian Banov, Paco Garcia, Clarise Fluid, Richard Maiden, Mike Maiden, Joshua Fowler, Barrie Bouchet and Stacey and Wesley Campbell. Yet not one of them publically rebuked Todd for lying and blaspheming as they should have done. In fact they all gushed over Todd, and spoke some blasphemous prophecies of their own over Todd. Who can forget Stacy Campbell’s wild head shaking moment?  Bill Johnson has claimed to have known Todd well for ten years, so it is not as if they didn’t know Todd was lying.

This willingness to tolerate such overt lies and deception shows the new apostolic-prophetic movement’s complete lack of integrity and lack of love for truth – they will willingly allow deception to be perpetuated to further their own agenda. It also shows the lack of integrity of many Todd Bentley supporters who have followed Todd for years and also well know he was lying.  So why do they take it? Because deception feels  so good? Ooh! More Lord! ‘Lord’ who?  The father of lies?

  1. Miriam, hi there! I really appreciate coming to your blog and reading!

Say, I’m an intricate part of a blog family and we have been hard on the Bentley circus. The Author of the blog posted a page tonight that includes before and after photos of an evidential ‘healing’ at Lakeland. Please take a look and even respond on our blog if you’d like

  2. the fact is that many of the people who have commissioned Todd have been infected with the kundalini spirit themselves. they have been given over to deception by calling the things of the devil the things of God.

  3. What are you expecting if you ask the devil:”Do you lie?” You can never trust it, can you? Only trust what God has told us: John 8:44 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

  7. I rle feel that u have a huge problem with Tod Bently without any real reason and as the saying goes people put others down because they’re jelous themselves. For one the ministry is not centred on him because throughtout the outporing they have used other people aswell. Furthermore i have no problem with being dicserning and yes we have to question everything we see, however the questions you need to ask are 1) is God getting the glory 2)is is bible based and 3) are they things happening from God, the answer to all of these question in the revival are yes. If you have such a problem go and pray about it and then u will be able to claim these riduculous things but until then don’t put other people down to make yourself feel better!

    Comment by Bekki | July 8, 2008

  8. Hey Bekki,

Those 3 questions you just asked are all actually in the negative, it’s no, no, and no.

  9. Maybe everyone here should spend more time seeking the Lord and preaching the Kingdom Of Heaven is at hand and less time complaining and making your point to be the TRUTH.

  10. Janet,
I guess you should take your own advice.

  11. Thank for you sharing this. More and more people need to be made aware of Todd Bentley because he is a false teacher and a false prophet. Making merchandise of men.

And of Lakeland – because it is a counterfeit revival.

    Comment by earthless | July 11, 2008

  12. Bekki – why do you assume that Bentley’s detractors haven’t already prayed about it? If they have, then they should be able to do as you suggest with impunity: “then u will be able to claim these riduculous things” If they’ve prayed about it, maybe they aren’s ridiculous things after all, right?

  13. I’m not saying your wrong in this report, but where are the before and after pictures of Todd’s body art?

Did he merely cover up offending demonic art with a cross or scripture? Or did he merely entertain himself with vainity?

    Important questions …

    Comment by Geetrue | July 12, 2008

  14. Geetrue – look at the videos and photos and also look at Todd’s own contradictions which prove he is lying. It is more than apparent that nothing was there on his skin where prominent body art is now, only a few years ago.

  15. Geetrue:

Here’s a video from Toronto of Bentley a few years ago. Note the very obvious lack of tattoos:

  16. If we get pass Todd (his tattoes, demeanor, etc.) I think that we could see a genuine move of God. God is mere visiting the North American continent with a demonstration of His love. For a balanced and scriptural look at the supernatural check out “A Step Into Deliverance” by T. Pugh. It’s riveting autobiography about one pastor’s battle with the spirit of Jezebel.

Comment by ray stone | July 13, 2008

  17. ray stone,

You totally miss the point as it’s not about Todd’s tattoos and demeanor. IT’S ABOUT HIS LYING AND CHARLATISM. Oh, yeah… and his doctrine which supports angels as providing healing power, etc.

Maybe you should read this entire post and the others on here with an objective, open mind.

    Comment by Lee | July 13, 2008

  18. I apologize. I do not know everything about Todd, nor his claims concerning his tatoos. We could belabor the point but that would be counter productive. I want to keep my eyes on the move that is happening in Lakeland. It either is or it isn’t a move of God. If we conclude that it is, then God is sovereignly working despite Todd, which in my opinion, is a “foolish thing” according to I Corinthians 1:27-29). As for the activity of angels in the affairs of men, they are in abundant. The closest thing that I can find where they actually have contact with man’s flesh as to bring purging (with fire) is in Isaiah 6.

Comment by ray stone | July 14, 2008

  19. I’m sure he got his tatoos back in the days, before he was commissionned, you see, speaking of all the portals and stuff, he maybe went back in time and got his tatoos and came back in our time, thus making temporally having his tatoos years ago…

Well, I was just passing by –>

  20. Todd Bentley statement from only a couple of years ago -

“Somebody emailed our ministry and asked a valid question. He said,

‘Todd, you are going to have all these men – prophets and apostles – get together and talk about the emerging apostolic movement. My fear would be that there wouldn’t be a representation of the Goths, the Punks and the Ravers – the whole underground world that God is moving in today – the movement that offends and scares most people in the church. You know – the punked and colored hair with all the earrings and piercings in every part of the body. Is there not room for true apostle and prophets in that sub-culture?’

From that question I realized that we need to be very careful in the whole new emerging (apostolic) movement, not to just package it how we think it should look. I am going to make some statements now: There are punk apostles; there are biker prophets; there are ravers that are apostles; there are skinheads that are part of this prophetic movement…I don’t have any here right now. I’d be the closest thing. We must not forget that these (sub-cultures) have a voice in this whole prophetic movement too. The teenage apostles and the teenage prophets are being raised up, and it’s also happening in other spheres of life too.”

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | July 25, 2008

  21. Ummmmm, hope he aint talking about these skinheads, but with todd….who really knows???

    wikipedia,

White power skinheads (sometimes known as neo-Nazi skinheads or white nationalist skinheads), are a racist offshoot of the skinhead subculture that originated in Great Britain.

They have a reputation for being extremely racist and anti-semitic. Many of them are affiliated with white nationalist organizations such as the People’s National Party (Russia), the National Democratic Party (Germany), the British National Front (United Kingdom), and the National Socialist Movement, Blood & Honour, Combat 18, Hammerskins, Creativity Movement (International
