Newsflash: Todd Bentley quits Lakeland after Revealing ABC Nightline Airs, and God TV put Lakeland Broadcasts on hold

Following a revealing news story (that did not say the half of it, but said enough to show Todd Bentley is a con man) - see here for the show on You Tube – Fresh Fire released the following statement as quoted by ABC Nightline here.

“UPDATE: After this story aired on “Nightline,” Fresh Fire Ministries released a statement announcing that preacher Todd Bentley would be taking time off “to refresh and to rest” after having spent four months in Lakeland, Fla., leading revival meetings. In the meantime their Lakeland broadcasts on GOD TV are put on hold.”

This is what God TV said in their spin on it statement here that was also emailed to me by God TV just three hours ago  -

“Fresh Fire Ministries announced yesterday that Todd Bentley would be taking some time off to refresh and to rest from the Florida Outpouring after nearly one hundred days of ministry. The Lakeland meetings will continue and Todd will remain the leader of this move of God.



GOD TV as the exclusive broadcast partner in the outpouring knows our viewers have been incredibly blessed through our nightly broadcasts with many lives changed, bodies healed and souls refreshed – we have received thousands of e-mails testifying to the work of God in your lives.

    TB is NOT taking time off “to refresh and rest.” He will be here in my city, Louisville, Kentucky on the 17th to open up portals and gates over my city. I’m sure it is to open up the demonic realm. For nowhere in the Word of God are we told to do such things! This is so occultic and I can’t stand it! Please pray along with me that these people would be exposed soon.

    Why don’t they (God TV and the rest of them) just tell the truth???? Because they all are deceivers and liars! May God lift the skirts of these harlots!

    Just another thing. I guess I’ve found out where his Bam’s come from. On his Myspace site he openly expresses his admiration of the wrestling star Bam Bam Bigelow who resecently passed away.

  11. Good news that its going off live tv, although its unfortunate that reruns will be available on God tv and the internet. Presumably, they are hoping to make a public comeback once the furore of the ABC programme dies down, although now that ABC have caught him out once they or somebody else may keep after him if he raises his head again. I suspect Arnott and the rest will be launching a damage limitation exercise if they genuinely believe he’s damaged goods- if the think that they’ll drop him like a hot potato as they don’t want someone discredited 9in the eyes of the world. The unfortunate thing being that they’ll carry on with their own schemes as normal but. Although the meetings themselves will continue in Lakeland, it is thanks to the real Lord Jesus Christ that he has exposed this much.

    It is very mysterious. Todd has disappeared suddenly. Just as suddenly as EMMA-O was yanked off his web page, without explanation, Todd simply disappeared.
    Remember dear Christian brothers and sisters, the war FOR TRUTH is NOT OVER. Todd Bentley is just one symptom of the problem. When it seemed that he was losing the battle a powerful reinforcing army came forth for his defense. It was then, that we could see the seriousness of the problem that is facing the church appear.     I was part of an army of women in the seventies that fought against the ERA. Our side won that battle and defeated the radical women libbers. However, every bit of that Constitutional Amendment is part of our lives today. Congress legislated it piece by piece into existence. We are living today with so many radical things because the women that won that battle simply went back to sleep.
    Church don’t go back to sleep! Keep alert and by all means Todd is simply one little piece of the raging battle for the church. Keep fighting on and defeat the gates of hell that Jesus promised would not prevail against the church.
    Remember, his release said he was taking a rest, it didn’t say that he was not coming back.
    OPENING THE PORTALS TO THE THIRD HEAVENS TO THE DEMONIC REALMS ~ PETER WAGNER SAYS, TODD BENTLEY is the”PORTAL (STAR GATE) TO THE FUTURE” He also said that they are connecting heaven’s gate to earth! According to the Bible, God’s Kingdom has already come to the Earth. Jesus Christ is the Mediator that has already connected God’s Kingdom to the Earth and heaven, See Ephesians Chapter one. It is a power that is not Bentley’s and Wagner’s to give.

  14. I’m actually fairly gobsmacked that Nightline was able to derail the Todd Bentley train as thoroughly as it did. It appears that god.tv has switched over to broadcasting Hillsong conference in the slot previously reserved for Bentley.

    I guess I now should spend some time watching those Nightline videos–been too busy with real life to care, but apparently something was said that got Bentley to drop out immediately, and I have to wonder what it was?!

I’m sure he’s using the well-earned “offerings” to kick back at the Bahamas, sipping margaritas, and getting new tats. Life of a false-prophet is hard.

    I have been wondering the same thing, it could be the start of it (of Todd being tossed aside as part of the false prophet mouthpiece of the dragon, falling from a great height and then being hung out to dry by others). I was also shown just before I knew the revival had moved into a tent that there would be two blows that would hit this ‘revival tent’s’ central pole (eg Todd Bentley) – and the second blow would snap the pole in two. The first one I think was the failed Wendy Alec Jesus is coming on stage prophecy which lost them a lot of credibility and fans, this may well be the second blow.

    However that all said, I do not know for sure and regardless, I do rejoice for worse is now to come. So much damage has been done and so much damage is yet to come. Todd Bentley was always expendable. It was not about him for the powers that be.

  23. I just hope that there is nothing more sinister at play here. Having his past broadcast to millions of viwers I am sure had something to do with it. All it takes is a few people who do not understand the concept of forgiveness to take ‘forgiveness’ into their own hands if you know what I mean. I do hope that is not the case. The guy does have a wife and kids to think of. They do come before any ministry. Even thoug I did not agree with everything that went on in Lakeland, I will pray for the guy as I sense something horrible has happened.

  25. I heard Todd say some strange things on youtube yesterday. Type in “Todd Bentley, a messenger of God”. there are five or six pieces. Basically the video poster is showing a comparison of Todds encounters with angels to that of descriptions of Alien abductions. The strange thing also when viewing Todd though no matter what clip or piece of footage you see of him is the seemingly casual and irreverent way he addresses God with comments like ” Well I dunnoo GOD! you want me to say what!!!!!”. Ecliastes says dont utter words hastily in the prescence of the King. A call to reverence I believe.

    To me Todds lack of reverence and his casualness in addressing God has been one of the more disturbing things of all.

    May I also offer this opinion that while I am not into condemning or showing anyone up in public unless authorised by the Lord to do so my question is this. There has been a lot of addressing those who are called false apostles and prophets, which I agree with but what about those who give them such a huge public platform namely the executives of God T.V ( I really do hate that name). If they glorify these men so much are they not the worst culprits of all. Should they not be asked publically by the church to give an account of their endorsement of these men and women.

    He’s clearly not in good shape physically so it could be possible he’s had more heart trouble?

    Can you imagine the result if they had a revival/healing meeting and the top cheese fell over with a coronary?

    He looked unwell a couple of weeks ago, to my untrained eye.

    Without Todd around, they don’t want to televise it.

    They’ll keep the meetings going until their contracts for ATM machines, venues etc have run down. Then it’ll be over.
    (At least in Lakeland.) He’s going to take the show on the road, if he’s well enough.

    Think of the ten most lucrative places he could go. That’s where he’ll go over the next 6-12 months.

  28. He is coming to the UK soon. Revival Fires UK are according to their web-site working with Todd to arrange a trip to the UK from 20 – 23 Sept 2008 at the NEC Birmingham which is the 2nd largest city in the UK. Their web-site also informs us that he will personally release to the UK all that God has been doing in Florida.

    I do believe he is planning a visit to London also.

    If people had to pay to criticize you would have fewer comments. Has anyone seen quite a movement like this one in Lakekand Florida? Todd Bentley baptised about 3000 people on 4th July as a Heavenly present to USA – not only mere water baptism, but also inpartation etc. What does that mean? Some will ask? That which is spirit is spirit; what is flesh is flesh. God sees it fit to heal His people after man has put chemical in the food chain. Only a greater power, such as God’s can do that. The sceptics – among them christians – can keep going to doctors or fortune tellers etc

    The baptism you refer to was in the name of ’sheeka bam uh!’ and was a mockery – it included an infant baptism and a child who wanted to get healed, others who wanted the anointing/impartation/healing, and backsliders and others who wanted Todd’s baptism but had been baptised already. Some baptism – that is a mockery!

    Give me a biblical definition please “Reverend” of baptism?

    Is not the Living Word of God all we need to live a life of Godliness. Unfortunately, for some it’s just not enough any more. What Todd and the other Benny Hinns need to do is to walk down the hall of Driscoll’s Children Hospital and remove that cancer from those who are precious in Jesus’ eyes. After all their faith is real and want desperately to be healed. Why do you think they will not do this? After all, it will not cost them anything but their self-created reputations. Oh, and by the way does God really do “partial” healings. What’s that all about? And in regards to healing, does God descriminate against those without limbs? People…please rightly divide the Word of God.

    I have to say what a wonderful job you are doing in exposing this heretic Todd Bentley.(having said that my heart breaks for him because of the deception that is so apparent in his life, encouraged by others to be their mouthpiece) – why can’t all Christians see this is so phoney? – ( as you have said many times strong delusion is definately upon them) I have read so many of your articles and learned so much in the process.I can never thank you enough I pray for a great blessing to uphold you as you DO YOUR FATHERS BUSINESS.

    I have personally been a Christian for over 30yrs and was brought up in a Real Christian family. for the past 14yrs I have been in a Church where it seemed to start off good but steadily progressed into always looking for signs and wonders ( I think this must break Our Beloved Lord’s heart as He sent his ONLY SON to die for us, so that we might pass from life to death , is THIS NOT ENOUGH?)

    As the years moved on in my ex Church I would look around at some of the people looking for signs and wonders and think to myself is this a NEW BREED of Christians (never knowing that this new wave of so called christianty is named just that- NEW BREED, how very strange) The reason behind my thinking was that the sign searchers had no love for others , in fact they were downright cruel and elitest, also the Pastor became an unbearable dictator. I beleive this is what the new breed will mostly be like because it is often (though not always)selfishness that is the motivation to seek signs. You can even detect some of them by the tone of the articles they write on your site.

    My feeling is that things will get more difficult to be a Real Christian who believes the WORD of GOD and in His gifts for the good of mankind. I always imagined at the end of time the Christians would be in a battle with non-christians but it looks very much like the ones we once thought of as Brothers and Sisters are the ones who will TRY to tear us apart. I hope therefore we can decide to always pray for one another till me meet at the Feet of Jesus . To His Name be all the Glory and Honour Forever . Amen —- Your sister in Christ . Ailsa

Rev Oliver Butler – I saw footage of this baptism service – he baptised tons of people, but most that I saw had nothing to do with their attesting to being saved – I saw a little girl baptised because she had a lazy eye (no, she wasn’t healed) lots of folks baptised because they wanted some kind of emotional outlet, but very few baptised for the Biblcal purpose.

    The healings are dubious at best. There have been no healings that are idependently verified. None. Many who were on-stage said they felt better (30 – 70%) but weren’t actually healed. Many are just plain not healed, which is a consistent pattern throughout the faith movement.

    Bentley provided a heavenly present to the US? Sounds like he’s trying to take God’s place.

    Are you saying that Christians that go to a doctor are ’sceptics’? (I doubt a born again Christian would go to a fortune teller.)
    Should all Christian Doctor’s tell their Christian patients to,”Go away, God will heal you on His own, you don’t need me?”
    Or “Christian, if you had enough ‘faith’ (like I do,) you wouldn’t need a ‘doctor’!”

    Not sure if I explained myself properly. what I meant was that the executives of God T.V are worse then those they give endorsement to so why aren’t they being questioned. I didn’t mean Wagner and Che-an etc I meant the owners and the public faces of God T.V namely the Alec’s. I have seen them interviewing and endorsing Benny Hinn. They also endorse Todd Bentley.

    May I say in the spirit of love that I do not like writing criticisms of people publicly and I myself have sinned and fallen short of what I should be as a Christian. I find it very hard to live at times for Christ. But I go back to him always and sometimes in tears. So what I want to say is, for myself and just for the record, is that should any man or woman that is criticised here or shown to be a false apostle prophet or teacher.. if they repented truly and showed that they were the Lords I would gladly and with a true heart hold out the hand of fellowship to them.

  46. Ken, Have you not kept up with what we have a problem with? Todd is a liar and a charlatan! And he is leading people astray through deceptive and false teachings for his own gain! Have you not seen this? And you err when you say that we are wrong for judging him. IF he is a christian, WE in the body of Christ have a right to judge him according to the Word of God. Have you not studied the scriptures? Or are you blindly following this man because you believe that he or anyone associated with Todd can do no wrong? Are you a post-modern who thinks that as long as its not harming me, I guess I’m okay.

    If a car salesman sold you a supposedly brand new car, but you found out that it was actually used and in disrepair, then you would confront that man and demand that he would right a wrong (I hope you would). Or would you just blindly drive the car away and say WOW this is an amazing car! while your friend are asking “why is Ken driving a beater?” Do you see where Im coming from?

    Todd is leading innocent lives (you said babes) astray. Paul in the NT dealt with False Teachers and False Prophets severely and we should do no less. Why did Paul weep his guts out at Ephesus when he left them in Acts saying that ravenous wolves will come and devour the flock with deceptive teaching? Because its THAT IMPORTANT! The lives of those so called babes are weighing in eternity here! This is not a SHEEKA BAM game that Christ plays! Brother I pray for the eyes of your understanding to be opened. Please read the scriptures and ask God to wash you through reading His Word.

  48. Reply to Ron Larson. Even if you have ministered in the jungles of Mexico with your wife and kids for many years like David Hogan did…you still have no right to judge him. There have been thousands of people saved under his ministry while his family suffered incredible hardship for the cause of Christ. He and his family have been living sacrifices for Jesus. I’ve been to some of his meetings in the United States. He’s pretty radical for Jesus! Praise Jesus Christ the Lord!

    We are going to be judged by Christ for every idle word we speak. I beg you to begin operating out of a heart of love rather than judgment.

    Todd has been telling lies from the stage at Lakeland. It might excite people who believe what he says and give them an emotional high. It may even give them more faith, in the short term. But the truth will always come out and how will people feel then?

    There have been NO verified miracles. None.

    Todd and his mentors go on and on about a worldwide global revival. It is just like the message the false prophets gave during Jeremiah’s time “Revival, Revival” instead of “Peace, peace”.

    Grow up, and get ready for persecution.

    Please be aware of 2 things God has said
    1-There is a devil out there whow will look,sound,feel and do things which Jesus does-A counterfeit

    2-God in his beauty however leaves us with a way of testing these counterfeits and, as with all counterfeits, if you weigh and test, sooner they will be proven false

    Thats all we have done on this site-test and weigh-as we do any other movement/prophet/seer who claims they are of God-

    Why do you attack us for doing what God asks??

    open your eyes boys. The world is coming to no longer ignore christians but to actively persecute us everywhere.

    There will be no worldwide revival culminating in dominion of the whole earth before Jesus returns.

    as an aside, since Revivalism is essentially dominionism, where does the rapture fit in with all this? Where does Israel fit in with all this? And above all, where does the church in the 2/3’s world fit in with all this?

    There is simply no coherent, systematic understanding of God’s word and how it relates to us today and how we apply what we learn in it to our daily walk with Christ.

    Why bother doing that? Let’s go to a TB meeting where we can chuck money at him and get ‘bam’ed!

    Meanwhile, the anglican church is in it’s death throws, although it may be put on some life support system for the next few years. Giving the appearance of life while failing to convince anyone that Jesus is relevant to the UK population and then compromising with Islam.

    However, since the outlook is bad, let’s try the uplook!

    Jesus is coming back!

    That is what I put my faith in! That’s what I am looking forward to!

  59. Why is it that every time Todd Bentley imparts something onto someone, they go into shacking and writhing convulsions…kind of like the same ones people have when they are involved in a voodoo ceremony.

    My Aunt and uncle were missionaries in Africa for over 10 years. They can verify that this is the case as well as typical demonic behavior also witnessed in Haitian voodoo ceremonies.

    When you read all four gospels you will notice that when Jesus encountered the demoniacally afflicted often they were shaking and writhing as well as unable to control their bodies. When Jesus touched people, they did NOT fall over on their back flailing about like a dying chicken or swat at invisible flies.

    Often Mr. Bentley said things that were either irreverent, inappropriate, and un-biblical. His behavior is what caused any division in the real church. If he were a man sent by the Lord, he would have stuck to the gospel.

    I’m at ease that he is no longer spreading false fire in the United States. What America needs is to fast, pray, repent, and seek the Lord with humility. We need to get grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus and in the Word of God rather than seek after signs and wonders like the Pharisees.

HE WAS TOLD ON MANY OCCASIONS TO TAKE IT EARLIER SO THAT ALL THE FUNDS THAT WERE NEEDED TO PAY FOR THE TENT , THE CAMERA MEN , THE TECHS, THE MINISTRIES WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF , ETC ETC BUT TODD WOULD ALWAYS SAY THAT IT WASNT HIS FIRST PRIORITY THAT THE MINISTRY OF THE HS WAS MOST IMPORTANT..MOST OF THE TIME THE DONATIONS WERE VERY SMALL.. I WAS THERE THE ONE NIGNT THEY TOOK IT AND THO I GAVE I WATCHED THE DONATION BAG BIENG PASSED AND ONLY A FEW REALLY GAVE. IT BROKE MY HEART AS I WATCHED MY BRO AND SISTERS GETTING BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF AND NOT REALLY CARE ENOUGH TO FUND SUCH A GREAT EXPENCE. I WATCHED THE REVIVAL FOR MONTHS AND MY TIME IN LAKELAND WAS A MIRACULOUS TIME.. I EXPERIENCED A PERSONAL MIRACLE OF MY OWN THAT I SHALL NEVER EVER FORGET..THE WORSHIP WAS LIKE BIENG IN HEAVEN AND BIENG IN THE PRESENCE OF THOUSANDS WORSHIPPING LITERALLY FOR HOURS WAS THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I HAVE COME TO LOVE MY JESUS MORE THAN ANYTHING AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN AS ON FIRE FOR MY LORD SINCE LAKELAND THAN I HAVE BEEN SINCE I WAS AN ONFIRE BABY CHIRSTIAN OVER 20 YRS AGO.. TODDS INCREDIBLE CHILDLIKE FAITH MADE MINE SOAR.. HE NEVER SPOKE OUT OF CONTEXT NEVER!!! HE KNOWS THE WORD OF GOD AND SHARED IT BEAUTIFULLY.. FOR ALL OF YOU NEGATIVE BLOGGERS LAKELAND WASNT A SUNDAY MORNING PREACHING SESSION.. IT WAS A HEALING REVIVAL..AND MOST OF THE PREACHING HAD TO DO WITH HEALING BECAUSE THAT WHAT THE HS WAS DOING IN LAKELAND..AS A RESULT HUNDREDS GOT SAVED IN ALTAR CALLS NEARLY EVERY NIGHT AND THOSE THAT GOT SAVED GOT FOLOWUPS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WOULDNT FALL THRU THE CRACKS BUT WOULD GET HOOKED UP WITH A CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN THEIR AREAS..WHEN JESUS WALKED THE EARTH IT WAS THE SIGNS MIRACLES AND WONDERS THAT DREW THEM TO JESUS.. ITS THE SAME FOR MANY UNBELIEVERS TODAY. HEAL THEM AND THEY WILL LISTEN!!!!! THE COMMENTS I READ HERE WERE OBVIOUSLY SLANTED AND FULL OF STINKING HERESY HUNTERS WHO BY THEIR COMMENTS PROVED THAT THEY NEVER SAW THE REVIVALS AND IF THEY DID IT WAS ONLY ONE OR 2 WITH PREJUDICE.. IF THEY HAD REALLY BEEN THERE OR WATCHED REGULARLY THEY WOULD SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS IN THIS GREAT MOVEMENT.
    . HEY ITS NOT OVER .. AS A RESULT OF LAKELAND REVIVALS HAVE BEEN BIRTHED ALL OVER THE WORLD..I HEAR ABOUT THEM ALL THE TIME.. AND A GREATER ONE IS COMING YET BEFORE THE GREAT TRIB.ONCE MORE WILL OUR LOVING GRACIOUS GOD POUR OUT HIS SPIRIT FOR THOSE AWAITING A TOUCH FROM HIM. I WENT TO ABC WEBSIGHT THAT VERY NIGHT AND STAYED UP FOR 3 HOURS AND READ THRU ALMOST 600 UPSET BELIEVERS WHO ALSO SHARED MY SENTIMENTS.. OUT OF 650 COMMENTS ONLY 18 (YES 18) WERE NEGATIVE. AND YOU COULD TELL THAT THEY WERE IGNORANT OF THE REAL LAKELAND,, I WONDER WHY ABC DIDNT SHOW THE PERFECT CROSS THAT WAS FORMED BY 2 CLOUDS IN THE SKY THAT SUNNY WEEKEND AT THE STADIUM THAT SETTLED OVER THE 15.000 WORSHIPPERS AT LAKELAND.. IT WAS THE MOST AWSOME SIGHT I HAVE EVER SEEN.. A PROCLAMATION OF
    GODS MIRACULOUS PRESENCE AS 15,00 BELIEVERS GAVE HIM GLORY THAT LASTED 21/2 HOURS WITH SUCH ADORATION OF WORSHIP AS ANYONE COULD EVER IMAGINE..
    I HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY MY LAKELAND EXPERIENCE ANDI REGULARLY PRAY DAILY FOR ANOTHER MIGHTY WIND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO BLOW ACCROSS OUR LAND AND THE WORLD ONCE AGAIN.
    FOR ALL OF YOU SO CALLED CHRISTIAN HERESY HUNTERS AND DIVIDERS OF THE BRETHEREN I PRAY THAT YOU WOULD REPENT AND FALL ON YOUR KNEES FOR THE DAMAGE YOU DID TO THE REVIVAL.
