8-8-8: Superstition promoted by Rick Joyner, Larry Jackson, Bonnie Jones, Todd Bentley & The Elijah List

In a previous article, here, I wrote of Rick Joyner’s forty day fast leading up to 08/08/08, when Todd Bentley is planning to be there at Heritage as the star of the show. I discussed the prophecies surrounding this from Bob Jones, Bonnie Jones and Larry Jackson, pointing to the revelation and manifestation of the elite Latter Rain Joseph Company.

Now I wanted to look a little more at the numerological superstition surrounding the 08/08/08 or the 07/07/07 or whatever date they pounce on to suit their ends, and superstiously promote no better than cheap psychics.

I said in the previous article that none of the new prophets explain how, when they almost always work off the Hebrew calendar [Chuck Pierce has been shown on previous articles on this site to directly plagarise from the Kabbalah],  which is declared to be God’s anointed calendar, how they can suddenly switch between Hebrew and Western calendars at will, because the date on another calendar apparently suits them better or looks more spiritual.

Here is the recent word from the Elijah List from Larry Jackson here. Please be very careful when reading it as it contains some truth mingled with much error and distortion.

There are times in life when God requires a person’s obedience before He reveals His plan to them. I experienced this on January 1, 2008, at 1:30 AM. After a very exciting New Year’s Eve celebration at my church in Charlotte, North Carolina, Father gave me instructions to have another celebration service on “August 8, 2008.”

WHY A CELEBRATION ON 8-8-08?

At that time, this was all I heard as our church family exchanged hugs and celebrated the coming of a New Year. This wasn’t the right time or venue to share these instructions, so I just hid it in my heart, understanding that there would be a much better time later in the year.

I understood the significance of the number 8 (eight is the number for new beginnings), plus we had just entered 2008 and had just spoke to our church about removing the old and entering into the new.

The Church has always understood the significance of the number eight as it relates to our Lord and the new beginnings of the New Covenant that have been made available (Jesus was raised on the 8th day of the week, for instance).

Little did I know how this simple word would change my life in ways that no one but the Lord could prepare me for.

One week after the New Year service, I was driving to a city leaders meeting and Father spoke the instructions to me again. However, this time I sensed another level of importance and an urgency to get started on preparations now. It was strong enough for me to immediately start telling those people around me that I am to have a celebration on August 8, 2008.

At that time I had no idea what it would look like or why this date was so important to the Lord!

Leonardo Fibonacci

Several weeks later, while studying some financial information, I came across the name Leonardo Fibonacci.

Leonardo Fibonacci was a talented mathematician during the Middle Ages. He compiled and supplemented the mathematical knowledge of classical, Arabic and Indian cultures. He was also known for the significant contributions he made to the mathematical fields of algebra and number theory.

Despite my background in computer electronics, with a heavy emphasis on math-related subjects, I had never heard of him or his work. Naturally, my curiosity was piqued. Yet in no way did I think this would have any bearings on what Father told me to do weeks before. Wrong again!

What I did not realize at the time was that God was leading me down a road to find Him in a way I could have never imagined.

What Fibonacci sparked in my heart was the understanding which God has placed in HIS Creation: a multitude of mathematical equations and sequences. They are found in the food; the plant life; the human structure, including the face; and much, much more. What I realized was the fact that everything we see, hear, touch, taste or even smell has mathematic equations associated with them. This understanding became clearer as I continued to study Fibonacci’s work as it relates to finances.

Dr. Michael Brown, a Hebrew Scholar

Weeks into this study, I was led to call Dr. Michael Brown, a well-known Hebrew scholar and leader of the Fire School of Ministry. He has relocated to the Charlotte, North Carolina, area.

I spoke with Dr. Brown about the new and exciting information I’d learned while studying the Fibonacci number sequence and rules. But a thought had come to my heart and mind, which was: “Are there mathematic sequences in the word of God from a Hebrew perspective?”

Dr. Brown explained the difference between Hebrew alphabets and our English alphabets and numbers. Unlike the English alphabet, each letter of the Hebrew alphabet also represents a numerical value. Dr. Brown indicated that many books he’d read had alphabets at the bottom of the page instead of a number – because the letters are numbers.

Later I would find out that there was also a name associated with the numerical values of Hebrew and Greek alphabets, which is known as “Gematria.”

Dr. Brown introduced me to another person I had never heard of named Dr. Ivan Panin (Dr. Brown and I were having this conversation while I was driving to a speaking engagement in Richmond, Virginia). He told me how Dr. Panin had discovered mathematic sequences in the Bible in the late 1800s and had given his life to Jesus as a result of his findings. Panin was known as a firm agnostic – so well known, that when he discarded his agnosticism and accepted the Christian faith, the newspapers carried headlines telling of his conversion!

This conversation piqued my excitement all the more, and I couldn’t wait to arrive at my hotel room in Richmond, Virginia, and dive deep into the information. But I still didn’t see the connection with what Father told me to do on the first day of the New Year. This was just information I could use to further my Biblical understanding that could be used in sermons and other teachings, right? Wrong again! God was leading me, even though I didn’t know I was following.

The Search Begins

I will never forget turning on my computer and performing the search for Dr. Ivan Panin and being amazed at what he found – without a computer. He learned Hebrew and Greek in four years, and from there he discovered number sequences. Panin says the laws of probability are exceeded into the billions when we try and rationalize the authorship of the Bible as the work of man. He once said: “If human logic is worth anything at all we are simply driven to the conclusion that if my facts I have presented are true, man could never have done this.”

He challenged those who read his findings to attempt to write a simple paragraph that would meet the numerical qualifications of the Bible that are simply found in the genealogies of the Bible. He also challenged the readers of the local newspapers to give a natural explanation or rebuttal to his findings. There were no takers!

In my hotel room, I was like a child in grade school again! And then it suddenly happened – while reading Dr. Panin’s work on the number 8.

He revealed that the number associated with the name Jesus  was 888.

I could hardly believe it! Father had instructed me to have a celebration on the date that reflects the number of His Name. Even after a long drive and a speaking engagement with double services the next morning, it was 2:30 AM before I could pull myself away from the computer, and it was even later before I could actually fall asleep.

The Master Mathematician – the Number of His Name

Even though we seldom (if ever) think of Him in these terms, the Creator of the Universe is the Master Mathematician. He has spoken in the language of math for centuries, but we haven’t been listening simply because no one realized it was His voice.

As the pieces began to fall into place, I could clearly see why God had directed me to hold this celebration on August 8, 2008.

Again, in the Greek language, the numerical value for the name Jesus is 888, and most of the names or titles of our Lord are also multiples of 8. The Lord was instructing us to celebrate “the number of His name.” August 8, 2008 represents more than just new beginnings; this number, which will not appear on our calendar again for one thousand years, identifies Him.

After considering this (along with the fact that every letter, word, phrase, sentence, paragraph and book in the Bible are more than just words, they are also numerical values), my only conclusion was that the Bible is not just a literary book – but the Bible is also a math book.

The internet has a wealth of information on the subject of Gematria and I have studied, researched, and found much of it. There were many times that my wife asked me to come to bed and leave the study for another day. But it had all come together, and now at every turn, I was finding more of God – in the study of both the Bible and its many numerical meanings.

Several words and phrases in the Bible have the numerical value of 888, which include: Jesus, Messiah, I am the Lord, I change not, the Lord art exalted forever, I am the Life, the Priest with Urim and Thumim, the salvation of our God, the mercy of the Most High, My Beloved, the heavens declare the glory of God, they shall be comforted, and the third day. Also, the names of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah from the tribe of Judah together equal 888. The book of Revelation, which is the revelation of Jesus, has 888 words in Greek.

Acts 3:16, “And His name through faith in His name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by Him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

The Language of Math

In my research, I learned about others who were experts in Gematria and Biblical numbers, including Bonnie Gaunt.

Bonnie Gaunt has published several books exploring the awesome revelation locked in the Scriptures through Gematria. Jesus is our new beginning and the King of a new and awesome Kingdom, which we have the opportunity to enter into – to live a new existence.

Most of the Church understands that our Lord JESUS is the new beginning for our life and the entire world. The numbers of Gematria help to further prove this fact.

For example, this is the way to write as the Greek would, using English letters and the Greek values:

The name Jesus (Iesous in Greek) adds up to 888:
Iesous =
I (10) + e (8] + s (200) + o (70) + u (400) + s (200) = 888

Most of the names in the New Testament referring to Jesus are multiples of 8. See the list below:

Lord = 800 = 8 x 100
Jesus = 888 = 8 x 111
Christ = 1,480 = 8 x 185
Savior = 1,408 = 8 x 176
Messiah = 656 = 8 X 82

The title Lord (800) + Jesus (888] + Christ (1,480) has a numerical value which equals 3,168.

The numbers should help to further increase our faith in the fact that Jesus has provided for us a new life and we don’t have to live in our old existence any more. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

We clearly understand how important the title Lord Jesus Christ is in the Church, and it is equally as important in the universe. Think about this for a moment, if God wanted everyone in the entire universe to understand that He is God and if HE wanted to speak a language all could grasp, what language would He use? The language of mathematics is an elevated language and it can’t lie. If one number is changed, then the entire meaning would also change!

Mathematics in Scripture

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

All of the authors I know sign their work. In this respect, the Lord is no different. The universe in which we live bears His signature; that is, the numerical value of 3168.

For example, the city of Bethlehem is located at 31.68 degrees north latitude on the earth. We would have to dig 10 miles below the earth’s crust before reaching lava, and we would have to travel 50 miles above the surface of the earth before entering outer space. The sum of these 2 distances is 60 miles. If we convert 60 miles into feet, the numerical value is 316,800 feet (5,280 feet x 60 = 316,800).

Notice the continual occurrence of 3168!

Acts 17:28 says, “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’”

The Bible states that we live and move and have our being in Jesus and the numbers prove it.

If a box is placed around the earth so that the four sides touch each side of the earth, the perimeter around that box would equal 31,680 miles.

Placing the moon directly on top of earth at the North Pole and drawing a circle around the earth and the moon, the perimeter of the circle would equal 31,680 miles.

3,168 = Mediator between God and men, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. “He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: by His knowledge shall My righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:11).

“To whom then will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.” Isaiah 40:25-26

How Do We Celebrate the Number of His Name?

Finding God in the numbers sealed even more the fact that He wanted the celebration on August 8, 2008. But there was one little detail that He hadn’t given me. What type of celebration, and how do you celebrate the number of His name?

Early one morning I was awakened and knew it was the Father calling me. Finally, the instructions were given and I knew what to do and how to do it.

We are to have a 12-hour celebration and walk the people through the tabernacle of Moses. Allow each section of the tabernacle to speak of the Lord. The first number that can be cubed is the number 8 (2 x 2 x 2 = 8].

The tabernacle is built in cubit squares. I was instructed to stay 4 hours in each section starting at 8 AM and ending at 8 PM that night.

THE NUMBER “12″ IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT

God has used the number 12 throughout the Bible, because the number “12″ also represents Him.

You may recall there were 12 tribes of Israel. The 12 pillars, the 12 stones, 12 chargers, bowls of silver and spoons of gold, 12 spies, 12 disciples, 12 foundations, and 12 gates just to name a few.

Aaron the High Priest wore a breastplate with each of the tribes represented by a precious jewel. Also, remember that each name has a numerical value.

The sum of the last three tribes Benjamin, Manasseh and Ephraim equals 888.

The place where the Cross is found is on the last of the four rows of jewels on the breastplate, where Jacob crossed his hands while blessing Ephraim and Manasseh. Also, Benjamin was Joseph’s only brother from his mother to whom he gave a double portion. This is the generation who is living in the blessing of the Cross and will walk in the double portion anointing of our Lord.

Below are the twelve tribes of Israel on the breastplate of Aaron. Each tribe has a numerical value from the Hebrew alphabet. For there to be numerical values that relate to Jesus, would mean that Father God knew these names before they were ever born.

Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

GAD (7) NAPTHALI (570) DAN (54)
ZEBULUN (95) ISSACHAR (830) ASHER (501)

MANASSEH (331)
EPHRAIM (395)
BENJAMIN (162) = These last three equal “888″

Each of the rows in the breastplate are important, but the last row is the one that we will emphasize here. Remember, Benjamin was named Benoni by his mother, before Jacob changed it, which means “Son of Sorrow.” The numerical value of the name Benoni is 119, which would have brought the last row value total to 845 (not shown here).

HOWEVER, when Jacob changed his name to “Benjamin” and the numerical value increased to 162 (as illustrated above), the total value of the last row increased to 888, which equals the value of Jesus’ name.

Father never wanted His name to be the “son of my sorrows,” but rather “Son of My right hand.”

While speaking at a MorningStar men’s conference, I shared this information with Rick Joyner, Bishop Wellington Boone, and Bob and Bonnie Jones.

Bonnie shared with me that she just had a dream several nights before about the date August 8, 2008. In the dream, God told her that she would find the Joseph Company on that date. He also told her that it would take her 40 days to find them, which started on June 29, 2008. I knew she was looking for the people who would attend this celebration, and the 40 days leading up to August 8, 2008 was a time of preparation and cleansing.

Saved and Safe in His Name

(Note by Steve Shultz: Remember that only AFTER an event passes do we often see the full meaning. So we don’t know if this event referred to below – this famine – refers to an actual famine, a spiritual famine, or both. Of course, many will not be able to attend, but you might want to seek the Lord as to how you can align yourself with God’s purposes for ANY given date on the calendar!)

Larry Jackson Continues:

I believe Father told me a famine is coming to our land and this celebration will prepare His people for it. It will place them in a position where they will be protected; that is, in His NAME!

We are about to face a season of uncertainty and the Church must know Jesus and the power of His name. We must take the power of Jesus into the streets and marketplace. We are about to enter into one of the most important seasons of harvest man has ever seen.

After the resurrection, Jesus instructs the disciples – who had returned to fishing and had not caught anything all night – to cast their nets on the other side of the boat. When the disciples did what He told them to do, the nets filled immediately.

The Bible tells us that there were 153 fish in the nets. Have you ever asked why 153 fish? 153 = the number of these:

“Passover”
“He is faithful”
“Sons of God”
“He shall cause to inherit” and
“I am the Lord thy God”

Could it be our Lord was telling us that the Sons of God would be revealed in the last days of the great harvest? We are in one of the most important seasons the Church has ever experienced, and most of the time our experiences are reserved only for church services. I believe it is time for the Kingdom to be manifest in the streets and the marketplace where more of the harvest can be caught – not only within the walls of the church buildings.

THE WORLD OLYMPICS BEGIN AUGUST 8, 2008 BUT…

Beginning August 8, the world will be focused on the Olympics, its glory and excitement, while the people of God must also be focused on the King of Glory and the power of His NAME! This is a prophetic date that will come and go with this calendar year, but the number 888 is forever, because Jesus is forever.

Again, Acts 3:16 says, “And His name through faith in His name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by Him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

I invite you to come and join the celebration where the complete focus will be on Jesus. I’ve also been instructed not to sell anything at this celebration. There can be nothing that takes away from who He is and why we came together on the number date of His name – August 8, 2008.

So that’s what they say about 08/08/08.

Let’s look at what these guys have said before related to dates. The date 7/7/7 was a date on which the “Spirit” was to be released all over the world according to the NAR prophets. It did not happen.

Lou Engle’s ‘The Call’ was held on this date – The Call having being something prophesied by Bob Jones. Sharon Stone prophesied to Lou Engle, ‘There is coming a fresh recruitment on 07-07-07. I heard the day very clearly, and on that day, a stand will be taken, and it will bring forth a great shift.’

Other similar superstitious garbage was promoted and prophesied by others of the prophets and apostles on this date. Many ‘Christians’ who should have known a lot better, were taken in by it, thinking they were in for a special blessing on that day.

http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/newprophetssuperstition.html gives more details about the typical type of garbage that was promoted on other dates like the 06/06/06 and 03/03/03. And of course, don’t forget 31/12/1999!

On 06/06/06 the apostolic networks came together to do “prayer” and “violent worship” to allegedly protect the world against the devil’s plans for 6/6/6.

“On June 6, 2006, many of the most powerful intercession and apostolic networks in the world are going to join hands with us for this world day of worship.We believe that the plans the enemy has for this date (June 6, 2006) will be destroyed through violent worship and praise. We are inviting the entire world to be part of this huge unity project. For this reason, we would like to include you, your Apostolic and Intercession Network to join us for this event so that a vast Majority of places will be covered all around the world.

The Vision I received from the Lord:

1. Call forth the apostles, prophets, intercessors and the Saints in general to rise up as a mighty army and to agree to consecrate June 6, 2006 as a full day of worship in every city in the world. Let’s call June 6 “A Global Day of Violent Praise.” This day begins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2006, and ends on June 6 at 6:00 p.m. in each time zone. It will be coordinated by national, regional, state, and city prayer networks. Local Churches and groups of churches will participate. Apostles will motivate their entire apostolic networks. Citywide groups of pastors will bring their Churches into the stream. Every prayer ministry will get the word out and mobilize their intercessors. There is no standard or prescribed way to make it happen. The Holy Spirit will provide all the creativity necessary. “

It is notable, keeping biblical numbers in mind, that Isaiah 66:6 says, “[Hark!] Uproar from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the Lord, rendering recompense to his enemies!”

Notice their superstitious use of Scripture and claims that God is calling His people to “violent worship” Why didn’t they use Ps. 66:6? It is because it did not support their ridiculous superstitious cause.  Why not use all the 6:6 verses starting in Genesis?

“2. God has spoken and said that He desires three shofar blasts to circle the globe in one accord with a resounding sound of victory during the night of praise. The times are 12:00 midnight, 3:00 a.m., and 6:00 a.m. in each time zone. I can imagine thousands of shofars being used hour after hour to bring joy to our Savior and Commander-in-Chief. “When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp and shout, For the Lord and Gideon!” (Judges 7:18).

3. While we are worshipping, praising, and blowing our shofars in one accord around the world, those who are gathered must be speaking out God’s apostolic designs for their regions and for the whole earth. This is a time for apostolic and prophetic declaration. …”

Ted Haggard, yes the same Haggard who was buying drugs and having some kind of homosexual affair for three years and was recently caught, set the date for the World Prayer Center, located at his New Life Church site, of 3/3/3.

Ted Haggard called Christians together to pray at the same time as New Agers, using humanistic and superstitious reasons as the basis for gathering to pray, instead of biblical truth. Because he had so many letters to pray on such a day He responded “The World Prayer Team therefore calls on all Christian churches and individuals to set aside at least 3 minutes to pray at 3:33 PM in their time zone on 03/03/03.”

Benny Hinn made a prophetic “prediction” about 03/03/03 about the same time, that failed to come to pass.”

Of course, in addition to the supersitious numerology surrounding specific dates, there is superstition around festivals (particularly Jewish ones like the Day of Atonement), times of the day eg: ’different watches of the night’ to intercede in as per Chuck Pierce, and anything else they can seek meaning in and gain a fast buck out of. So Bible verses are superstitiously used, and amounts of money are manipulatively ‘prophesied’ to the audience to sow a seed on to reap their financial anointing. A gift of US$777 has to be blessed, right, as it sounds so spiritual?

May the church repent of this superstitious nonsense and get back to the word of God!

  1. A book called “The Key Words Of The Bible” mentions that numbers are used in the bible to express ideas, but who’s ideas ? Certainly not the mystic meg’s who proclaim the false gospel and all the gobble-de-gook that passes for prophecy…

    It would appear that 888 expresses the idea of “THE ETERNAL TRIUMPH OF JESUS OVER THE ENEMIES OF THE GOSPEL.”

    Hebrews 12 :

    15. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

    16. Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

    17. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

  2. The sin of numerology is being pushed by Joyner and other for one reason that I observed. These people no longer have faith in the one true and Holy God. Like lost children (lost children as in the book THE LORD OF THE FLIES!) they need primitive and superstitious “SIGNS” that their “god” of their own making now, let’s be clear, it is not the God of the Bible speaking to them nor are they seeking Him in these pagan ways —

    the more they fall in to the sin of Unbelief because of all the false doctrine and false prophecies and false signs and wonders they have experienced —

    – which of course HAS NO REAL POWER IN THE HOLY SPIRIT TO TRANSFORM THEIR LIVES –

    – the further Rick Joyner and the Apostolic Prophetics get away from the Cross and Sin and the shed Blood and gazing upon our Beloved Lamb of God –

    the more they turn to numerology and astrology (Kabballah) and sun signs and ANYTHING THAT IS NOT OF GOD.

    This is a sign that their “MINDS ARE BEING DARKENED”. IT IS FRIGHTENING

    A women’s retreat I took my sister to two years ago was when I was first blatantly exposed to this numerology in my little church.

    The assistant Pastor went ON and ON about the numbe “2″ that she kept seeing on the side of moving boxes, tax receipts, scripture verses, etc., etc., and kept sermonizing upon these “coincidences” as if it was a promise to that person that God was truly with them.

    My sister who is a normal charismatic and I went back into our room in hysterics. It was the only response to the super serious way this had been presented to us as “spiritual food.”

    We looked above our twin beds in the hotel room. “Hey, there are TWO paintings above our TWO beds and we are TWO sisters here and there are TWO chairs next to our TWO beds and there are TWO mirrors over there and there are TWO doors in the room and there are TWO rugs on the floor and there are TWO bed blankets and each of our TWO beds has TWO pillows on them and it is nearly TWO PM!” We collapsed in laughter because that was the only possible manner in which to deal with the horrifying lack of true power and true Christianity that we had witnessed.

    And yes, this is the same retreat when my sister had cancer and I had begged the leader for prayer for her. None was forthcoming. I was so angry the Lord finally said to me: If you forgive that person, I WILL heal your sister.

    I did. And He did.

    Numerology had nothing to do with it. Jesus Christ did.

  3. What about the other 2000 years. If you divide that it’s 251 (those 3 numbers add to 8, if you divide 2008 by 8 you get 252. Add those three numbers and you get 9. You can manipulate anything. Besides I thought God’s number was 1. So God the Father is 1, God the Son is 1, God the Holy Spirit is 1. Then you have 111. The number of man is 666 – man without God. Man with God – 777 – Complete. Is 888 “another Jesus”?

  5. I agree with the major premise of your article, however the gematria topic is very interesting. At first I thought I’d found a big error, since I’m going through a book by Yacov Rambsel called ‘His Name is Jesus’ and it talks a little about gematria and says that the numerical value for Yeshua (in Hebrew) is 386. But later the article says they’re using Greek gematria, so I’ll take their word for it.

    There was one part early in the article where I yelled at the computer (I do that sometimes!) — it said ‘Jesus was raised on the 8th day of the week’; I yelled ‘How could he be raised on the 8th day of the week, when there are only 7 days in a week?’ I really think they could have made the point without that.

  6. Cia – I did say this article contains truth and error so one needs to be careful. I believe in genuine biblical gematria – however ascribing meaning to the coming date of 08-08-08 is not biblical gematria, it is superstition and hogwash to suit and prophesy their own purposes and agendas.

I always thought numerology was associated with divination, witchcraft, and the occult. This man should not “seek after a sign” nor should he encourage others to do so. Am I mistaken? I loved AriseMyLove’s comment about herself and her sister in the hotel room. I was thinking along those same lines. Even though I don’t have much knowledge of numerology, I have an extensive knowledge of math and physics.(I was an engineering major) He used the most bizarre logic I have EVER seen! Btw, there were several errors that I won’t go into here. I wonder if he knew that the Fibonacci numbers are only an infinite series of numbers that are much more easily represented by the Greek number Phi(1.618). – Maybe that doesn’t fit his agenda as it isn’t divisable by 8 (of course it is, but you won’t end up with a whole number) nor does it have anything to do with 3168. The Fibonacci sequence, however, has been popular in Hinduism, Buddhism, Kaballah, and with mystics(think pentagrams and sacred squares)for thousands of years.—Just some thoughts.   11. After reading Bishop Jackson’s article, I did a bit of research from a more Jewish perspective, using Hebrew names and concepts, etc., and here’s what I found. Please, let me state, as I reiterate in what I wrote, that these are matters that people study for years, and there are so many levels and layers of meaning … that what I have written here simply touches the surface … God is not only a mathematician … He is everything … and every single part of His creation is attached and connected to every single other part. Thus, you can start with ANYTHING … any single number or date or point of time in history … or location …. or any single human life … and it will eventually lead to absolutely EVERYTHING else … and all numbers eventually lead us to Him. Absolute humility is necessary in even touching on these matters, for we do not know how He holds all of existence together, and all we see, we see in part, through a glass, dimly. But, with proper respect, we can consider these issues in awe of His Majesty. I have not used the approach of finding “8s” as common denominators, but have used the approach called “simple gematria”, in which you add the numbers together. Indeed, “8s” are prominent but other numbers are included as well. I hope you enjoy and would love to hear your response.

    HISTORICAL:
    8/8/8 is two days before Tisha b’av. (Tisha b’av means the ninth day of the month of Av. and the above date is the seventh day of the month of Av.) From an Old Testament perspective:

    LETTER AND NUMBER STUDIES

    All Hebrew letters have numerical values, as well as meaning. I wanted to see if any “8s” would show up … but I also wanted to just rejoice in the hidden meanings to Yeshua’s Name.

    Here’s what I discovered. As I mentioned above, what I have gleaned is minimal … God reveals Himself in His Letters, because He is revealed in every single thing He does … just as He reveals Himself more clearly and simply in His Words … In those letters are worlds of knowledge … This is a beginner’s exploration of the letters of God’s manifest Name on earth…. It may seem tedious at first, but if you read on, you will see how amazingly clear the letters are in their intent, and how their numerical values add up to speak profound words about His Presence on earth …

    The letters in YSHUA are yud, shin, vav, ayin.

    The letters in YHSHUA are yud, hey, shin, vav, ayin
    The letters in Mashiach are mem, shin, vav, chet, (with Ha in front, put a hey in front…)

    Numerical values of the letters (which have meaning as explained below):
    yud’s value is 10
    shin’s value is 300
    vav’s value is 6
    ayins’s value is 70
    hei’s value is 5
    mem’s value is 40
    chet’s value is 8

    brief descriptions of their meanings:

    yud: yud is a divine point suspended in mid-air. Points have no dimensions, thus a “yud” represents the infinitely immeasurable point from which the finite universe came into being. It is the completion of the series of distinct digits, and thus represents unity (GOD) expressing itself in diversity (HIS creation).

    shin: flames, representing God’s relationship with the world. Fire on Mount Sinai, flames in the upper room, fire leading the Israelites, the bush on fire, etc. We get burnt up by the fire but we do not burn up.

    vav: a hook, the connection between Spirit and matter, Heaven and earth. The arm which extends the hand of giving. It fulfills the mental intention of charity, by extending the hand to give the charity

    ayin: eyes (of God)

    Hey means hand (of God).

    chet: God’s transcendence, miracles

    So, the letters for Yeshua mean: The infinite, eternal point of light from which creation was born came down as a life-giving flame to extend the charitable arm of God to mankind, because God saw our need for love.

    That’s an incredible explanation of what Yeshua did.

    The numerical value of YSHUA is 386, which added together is 17 which becomes 8. (17: One is the number for God, and God created light on the first day … on the 7th day, He rested. Thus “7″ represents Shabbat, rest in Him, the relationship of the bride and the bridegroom, the Holy reflected in the natural. … Thus within Yeshua’s name, we have both the beginning and the end of the week (the creative cycle of existence… as it were….) Eight represents God’s transcendence … The two numbers 1 and 7, the Light of God and the Rest of God, remind us of God’s transcendence…)

    The word Yeshua means: He saves.

    If you add the “hey” for Yehoshua the letters mean: The infinite, eternal point of light from which creation was born opened its hand and came down as a life-giving flame to extend the charitable arm of God to mankind, because God saw our need for love.

    Yehoshua means God saves

    The numerical value of Yehoshua is 391, which is 13, which is 4. (1 is God, 3 is giving charity, and 4 is receiving charity … God is the ultimate giver (3), and when we submit to God we are the ultimate receiver (4). Four is also considered the “door.” It is the gateway to heaven. When we choose to submit to God and to do His service, we enter into His Presence and receive His blessings …)

    Meshiach

    mem: water
    shin: flame
    vav: the eternal limitless becoming timely and limited (see above)
    chet: God’s transcendence, miracles

    Meaning of the letters: the living water sets fire to God’s temporal creation, thus becoming its means of transcendence.

    If you add Ha “hey” in front it means: The hand of God, through its living water, sets fire to God’s temporal creation, thus becoming its means of transcendence.

    The number for Mashiach is 358, which added together is 88 or 16 or 7. Six tells us that the end is already present in the beginning … you reap what you sow… The other numbers are described above. Put together, the numbers tell us that transcendence doubled (or the second manifestation of that transcendence, implying Yeshua, the Son of God) comes when God Himself (1) (the infinite and eternal who created the finite and the temporal) who set into being the consequences of our actions (6), takes upon Himself the consequences of those actions (adding together 1 and 6) to bring us to rest (7)…..)

    (Thus, combined with Yeshua it is 888 or 24, which is 6)
    BUT … people do not say Yeshua Mashiach, they say Yeshua HaMashiach

    (Yeshua Mashiach would be like saying “look, there is president… where as Yeshua Hamashiach would be like saying “look, there is the president)

    SO, for Hamashiach the number is 363, which becomes 93, which becomes 12, which becomes 3. Adding 8 for Yeshua to 3 for Meshiach is 11 … which is 2, and He is the second part of the God head … If you think that 11 is the combination of yud (10) and aleph (1), then you see that 11 represents God Himself penetrating the veil of existence that separates God from man with His own infinity. Pretty awesome.

    Mashiach: means anointed one.

    Now… putting the names together, (using YSHUA) this is what the letters say:

    The infinite, eternal point of light from which creation was born came down as a life-giving flame to extend the charitable arm of God to mankind, because God saw our need for love. (The hand of God), through His Living water, sets fire to His temporal creation, thus demonstrating and becoming its means of transcendence.

    YHWH
    The meaning of the letters: The Eternal One, who created the world, extends His Hand, reaching down with His Arm to connect with the uplifted hand of man…

    The number of the letters is: 26, which is 8. (2 is diversity or creation, six is “you reap what you sow “… the end is already present in the beginning … so, two and six have to do with the law of existence (6) working itself out in creation. BUT hidden within the ephemeral, the transient … hidden within life as we know it and experience it … is “8″ … the transcendent God working all things out for Good.!) And that’s the personal Name of God!

    Thus, separately:
    The number of Yeshua is 8
    The number of Mashiach is 8
    The number of YHWH is 8

    That’s power in words! Dear Lord, may we rejoice in You, our Maker, and see the beneficence of Your Presence within us and through us and around us, through the glorious unfolding of your language of love.   13. I had a hard time following Bishop Jackson’s arguments. Because I neither read nor write Greek, and have no knowledge whatsoever of the correlation between numbers and letters in Greek culture, I couldn’t understand, either to refute or confirm, his statements. So, I did research into Hebrew, which is something I do understand a bit … and surprisingly the “8s” emerged around Yeshua’s name and title and the Name of God … Thus, there is truth in Bishop Jackson’s proclamation that the date 8/8/8 resonates with God’s Name and the Name of God’s Son. How people interpret that … or what they should do on that date … is not something I considered. Tisha b’av is a traditional Jewish memorial day, and the preparation for it this year does begin on 8/8/8. It is a memorial for the atrocities that occurred to the Jewish people throughout the ages, and thus remembers times of great spiritual famine for the Jewish people.

    Having the number of Jesus’ name and other titles adding up to 888 in biblical gematria – which is true – is not the same as having the date 08/08/2008 being 888 – as it is not, is it, in its true numerical value whichever way you look at it (they miss the 20 out and the zeros as it suits them) – and it is also the western papal gregorian calendar they use, and crucially they do not use the Hebrew or Greek gematria they are pointing to in the article to base their argument on to calculate the date as the numerical value of this date’s name in words and the numerical date are not the same thing at all!

    Furthermore, even if it did add up to 888 – so what? It is pure superstition as no day is more holy or anointed than any other day. Furthermore, look at what they are pointing to on that day – the reaching of age of the new breed as prophesied by the false antichrist prophets which may be the manifestation of the sons of God Latter Rain style. Very worrying on all counts.

  17. Goodness! Where do I begin? This man seems to pick and choose names, sentence fragments and silly combinations to make the numbers fit while throwing away the rest. These numbers may still be incorrect because the little I know of numerology is that different forms give different values, but he probably just used whichever method suited his purpose. I can’t argue with his reasoning because it totally escapes me.
    I will, however, dispute his statements regarding mathematics. He makes wild assumptions which drive me crazy because math is such a precise discipline! First he assumes that God, wanting everyone in the entire universe to know that He is God, would speak in a language ALL could understand – Mathematics. This is just plain silly. Most of this world is uneducated and the better part of the educated world is not adept in advanced mathematics. It is difficult to learn and easily forgotten. Believe me, I think I have forgotten almost as much as I learned in my four(ok, almost five lol) years in college. And what does he mean by “everyone in the entire universe”? Does he think we’re not alone? Isn’t it a dangerous thing to assume to know the mind of God?
    Let’s look at some of his actual calculations. Why is he drawing a box around the earth and why doesn’t he say where around the earth he drew it. The diameter of the earth is actually different depending on whether you are going around the equator or the poles. But it doesn’t matter because his work either way does not add up. I’m assuming he used earth’s diameter for each side of the square. The correct answer using equatorial diameter(7926.28miles) is31705.12, using polar diameter(7899.8miles) is31599.2. Even if he used another diameter for earth, I doubt it would end up being 316800 without some finagling of the numbers. As far as his circle around the moon and earth, add the diameter of the moon(2160miles) and the earth’s diameter at the poles(7899.8miles) to arrive at the diameter of the circle, then multiply by pi(3.14159) to get the circumference. I get 31603.767082. I even tried different diameters to give him the benefit of the doubt but, no cigar!
    As for his digging from Bethlehem to hit lava and adding the distance to the distance to outer space–Just NUTS!!! 10 miles to hit molten rock or lava??? Try closer to 1500miles and I am being kind. Also there is NO set distance to space. But why would he want to start the measurement at lava instead of the center of the core of our earth? It doesn’t make sense! I would check everything this man claims. He is using the Junkiest Science I’ve ever seen! And there are still more errors that I won’t bore you with as I’m sure anyone reading this is probably asleep now anyway. I did find the 64th psalm on the 888th page of my King James Bible interesting but he probably wouldn’t care for it. Let me know if I can do anything else for you and check my numbers too because I’m not as good at this stuff as I was 20 years ago. Has it been that long?EEeeeeeek!

  18. Oops! I just realized my calculation for the perimeter of the box around the earth at the poles is wrong. Because the diameter of the earth differs between the equator and the poles, there is NO way for all four sides to touch the earth. You will end up with a rectangle. The perimeter of the rectangle is actually close but does not match his figure either. In this case, P=31652.16.

    I think the reason people look to numerology (I will leave open for debate whether it means anything or not) is that they are NOT looking to their saviour. Period. Jesus can do what He will do, whether it’s 8/8/8, or 6/6/6, or whatever hokey meaning some false prophet assigns to a date. Getting lost in numerology is idolatry just as sure as worshiping statues, money, or false gods.

    Ah, the simplicity of knowing Christ. Nothing can replace it!

  31. I agree wholeheartedly with those who say this is foolishness and gets our eyes off of Jesus. Chuck Missler wrote a book a few years ago called “Cosmic Codes” which has a few chapters on gematria and a paragraph or two on numerology all of which contain the caution not to go to the dark side. It is a good book for engineers, physicists and the like (us kooky people) because he provides some detailed information that is solely focused on proving the bible is an accurate, authentic document that is a single integrated message system, both on the surface and deeper down in the details. It could not have been written by man alone, it is truly divinely inspired and ALL OF IT points to JESUS [imagine that!].
    As mentioned above by more than one person, these 8-8-8 folks are picking and choosing to meet their agenda. The jumping back and forth between Hebrew, Greek and any other language or calendar that suits their needs just wears me out.
    But, just as TB can whip the Lakeland goers into a frenzy night after night; it should be no surprise that these old hands will do the same. Maybe they will say that if you give $888 dollars to them you will get the special anointing….(;-)
    The bad news is that we have to put up with this again next year on 9-9-9 and again and again through 12-12-12. What are they going to do then? Silly me, that is probably the end of all time as we know it…[just remember you heard it here first, LOL]

  33. Hi, Miriam. Do you happen to be watching Bentley at Joyners? Bentley has truly lost his Mojo.

    Anyways, it was kind of funny, Joyner repeated the whole supposed significance of 080808. Jones is there, he was grinning from ear to ear. And of course, Joyner just had to repeat the story Jones tells about losing his marbles.

    Joyner went on to say that it was 88 degrees today there and that the wind was blowing at 8 miles an hour. The average temp there this time of the year is 90 and I checked the temp and it was actually a little hotter than 88 and I the wind was actually gusting at around 5 mph, but who cares, really? What difference or significance does any of all this have anyways?

    The main thing is that Bentley just cannot whip the ‘anointing’ (his word) like he was early on Lakeland. That’s an indisputable fact.

    My husband and I just spoke with a lady yesterday who had spent the 8 hrs in the “08-08-08 name of Jesus” celebration. They did a study of Jesus reveled in the the 3 parts of the Tabernacle. I was convinced of her enormous blessing. She was still in awe. They did a lot of worshiping the Lord at intervals and it was a very enriching experience. So I looked to expand my search on line. I have seen all of these “named people” in person and experienced their ministry from close up or afar, and I am convinced of their genuine walk with the Lord.
    The Christian faith is a supernatural experience. If it were not, you would just have a lot of rules of man trying to get to God.
    Get your eyes on Jesus and He will take you in.
