Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

British Newspaper Readers Vote To Keep Todd Bentley out of UK

The Express On Sunday,  a leading UK national newspaper covered Todd Bentley on 29 June. It held a phone in poll and apparently 79% of the phone voting UK public voted to keep Todd Bentley out of The UK. They concluded their article on Bentley with -

Take him with pinch of salt

CHURCH authorities are right to query the activities of Todd Bentley and his Fresh Fires Ministry. Bentley, who was a criminal before he was “born again”, claims to be able to raise the dead and cure diseases.

At his “church” in Florida, Bentley has been seen to punch members of his audience in order to heal them.

Now he is coming to Britain and the vast NEC centre in Birmingham has been booked for a series of healing events. He is expected to attract thousands.

No doubt his shows are a spectacle that many enjoy but few ever see the consequences left among the frail by charlatans. “

The 79% Sunday Express vote to keep him out the country was followed up by two Sunday Mercury investigations into Trevor Baker at the Dudley Oupouring. It has been reported (unverified by me as yet) that Trevor Baker is an ex convict and was shaken by mainstream media scrutiny, and has told his staff that “the game is up. At least we made a quick few million and God TV got out of £6 million debts”.

One of the Sunday Mercury articles is below -

US sex offender is coming to preach in the Midlands

A US child sex offender turned church minister who tries to cure cancer victims by KICKING them has been invited to preach at a Midlands rally.

Todd Bentley, 32, is due to take centre stage at Birmingham NEC in September after being asked to attend by a Christian church in Dudley.

Yet the tattooed evangelist was previously convicted of child sex offences as a teenager. He also admits being addicted to drugs and alcohol in his youth – when he also loved bondage and Satanic music.

Bentley has attracted further controversy due to his violent outbursts towards sick people who attend his Fresh Fire Ministries looking for a cure.

The boot-clad biker has been filmed kicking a man with colon cancer in the stomach, grabbing a crippled woman’s legs and banging them on stage – and appearing to kick another woman in the face.

Last night the Church of England Bishop for Dudley, David Walker, raised concerns about the rally and said: ”I’m not going to condemn it -but I’m not going to encourage people to go along either.

“If people wish to pray for healing then it is available with the Church of England in a more gentle, quiet and subtle way.

”It won’t involve people being punched and kicked.”

Bentley has been invited to the Midlands by Trevor and Sharon Baker, who run the Revival Fires Church in Dudley.

Born-again Christian Trevor, 55, defended the Canadian-born preacher and said: “I’ve known Todd for six years and during that time he has been a man of real integrity.

“He has a chequered history and has written a book about this. He was brought up in a trailer park with all that means in America.

“He was 18 years-old when he became a Christian and his life completely changed from that point on.

“Ninety days ago he held a healing weekend in Florida. So many people were cured that the process has continued since then.

“I went over 10 weeks ago to see what was going on. Then when I got back to Dudley I held a conference with people I knew over the last 10 years and people began to be healed.

“One woman had a rare form of cancer and God touched her and she became pain free. When she visited her doctor she said he told her she was cured.

“Another woman was 70 per cent deaf. But after attending the meeting and arriving home she had to turn down the TV because it was too loud.

“She hasn’t had to wear a hearing aid since.”

He added: ”Todd does not always kick people to cure them. I have only known him to do this on three occasions.

“Most of the healing takes place through him praying and touching them.”

A spokeswoman for Bentley and Fresh Fire Ministries said: “Todd was 13 years-old when he abused a child. God is not looking for perfect people. Moses was a murderer.

“We don’t focus on the criticism. Jesus Christ had critics.

”Todd has not kicked anyone during the revival currently taking place in Florida. It’s very rare. He never does anything like that without first asking for the person’s permission.”

An NEC spokeswoman said the religious rally had not yet been confirmed, although discussions were taking place.

She added: “We host a wide range of events and concerts for all audiences and tastes to meet our customer needs, and always carry out a vigorous risk assessment for all events.”

  5. Hi

I believe Todd Bentley is a genuine Christian..instead of criticising that man please attend one of his conference. Why don’t you make an appointment with Todd and ask him questions. Yes he had quite a colorful past before he was saved..most people before accepting Jesus Christ in their hearts as their Lord and Savior have also a past…it could be drinking..drugs..fornication..adultery etc but once they invite Jesus to live in their hearts the Holy Spirit changed them and as they get to know our Lord God in a personal way there is no hunger to live in sins…there is freedom in Jesus Christ as the chains are removed..it can be homosexual life….it can be addiction to pornography..it can be stealing etc but then as we trust God for our life the chains are broken…we are not captives anymore…It is written in the Bible which is the Word of God that if we sincerely seek the Lord He will be found…imagine having a personal relationship with the Almighty God..the Creator of all…there is nothing better and more fulfilling as living a life pleasing to our Creator and Savior..absolutly nothing. God wants us to have an abundant life..not a life of worries…not a life with sickness….no He wants to bless us. What are you waiting for to surrender your life to God!

  6. Suzanne

Read the book of I John, and then read some of the posts on here about Todd Bentley. Please reconcile the two – how a cheat and fraud and false prophet and abuser NOW (this is not about Todd’s past) can be a God fearing Christian and “of God” and full of the spirit of God? Please, explain? How is it possible?

What are you waiting for to surrender your life to God?

I could ask you the same, seeing as “to surrender” means to obey and please, and obeying and pleasing God means testing false teachers and cheats and not having anything to with them, let alone defending them like you are. Why are you defending a lying false prophet, abuser, cheat and greedy fraud?

  7. I did attend his meeting in London and wasn’t edified at all. He is a charlatan as is the rest of his blasphemous movement in Lakeland…

  8. >Hi
    >
    >I believe Todd Bentley is a genuine Christian..instead of >criticising that man please attend one of his conference.

You are entitled to that belief. I personally believe that Todd is a Christian. But that does not mean that I should allow him to speak into my life or into the life of people I care about and love. No-one equates a Christian with sinless perfection.

I am a Christian, and I would not recommend you allow me to fix a shelf in your house – it would be a disaster, it is just not my gift or ability. Just because someone is a Christian does not mean that they are someone I should listen to or attend their conference. Todd is a natural showman who clearly attracts many people. However, are the meetings building people up or confusing and misleading them That is the question! Todd Bentley’s meetings are confusing, not Biblically based, contain lies and contain stories that are clearly not true.

The idea that I have to go to a meeting to know what it is like is not actually true. I have never put my head under the wheel of an articulated truck and waited for it to move. I have never injected heroin into my eyeballs. I have never cheated on my wife. I have never had cancer because of smoking 60 cigarettes a day.

That doesn’t mean I need to experience these things to know that they are negative, hurtful things. It doesn’t mean I need to experience them first hand to be able to talk about them and warn people about them.

    >Why don’t you make an appointment with Todd and ask him >questions. Yes he had quite a colorful past before he was >saved..most people before accepting Jesus Christ in their >hearts as their Lord and Savior have also a past…it could >be drinking..drugs..fornication..adultery etc but once >they invite Jesus to live in their hearts the Holy Spirit >changed them and as they get to know our Lord God in a >personal way there is no hunger to live in sins…there is >freedom in Jesus Christ as the chains are removed..it can >be homosexual life….it can be addiction to pornography..it >can be stealing etc but then as we trust God for our life >the chains are broken…we are not captives anymore…It is >written in the Bible which is the Word of God that if we >sincerely seek the Lord He will be found…imagine having a >personal relationship with the Almighty God..the Creator >of all…there is nothing better and more fulfilling as >living a life pleasing to our Creator and >Savior..absolutly nothing. God wants us to have an >abundant life..not a life of worries…not a life with >sickness….no He wants to bless us. What are you waiting >for to surrender your life to God!

I agree entirely with this paragraph. No-one is criticising Todd Bentley for his past. We all know that God is a mighty Redeemer. I have seen people instantly delievered from heroin addictions. I have seen blind eyes open, deaf ears open, people get up out of wheelchairs. I have seen marriages on the verge of divorce completely restored. I know the goodness of God. My son was in the womb with only one kidney yet was born with two because God has not forgotten how to make kidneys.

However, currently at this moment (NOW!) Todd Bentley is in error. You don’t need to defend his past, no one is warning about that! Paul was a murderer as was Moses. Peter was a hypocrite and a coward. We all have our sins and failings, God doesn’t have anyone working for him who is qualified apart from the blood of Christ. What is my concern is the false theology and false prophecies and experiences being taught and recounted at this “revival”. Not Todd’s character.

Yes God wants you to have abundance in life, so why go to Lakeland when the SAME SPIRIT THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD LIVES IN YOU!

    Cheers,
    Ben

  11. Thank you David. I see you mentioned some figures on a number of sites like I believe you said Trevor and Todd were to split eight million between them – where did you get these figures from?

  12. Ok, this is what that article says -

“Trevor is a former convict who was once jailed for theft and drug abuse.”

If this is before he was saved (as I assume it is), and is repented of, I have no problem with this. I do have a problem though with his flakiness.

  14. I could care less about his past, his style of dress, his tattoos, piercings, etc. What I do care about is the fact that just about everything he says or does is unScriptural! There are no verified resurrections, healings, NOTHING! THIS IS A DELUSION! Stay clear of it people. Stop following man, and start reading your Bibles, and FOLLOW JESUS!!

  15. As I have stated in my other comment It doesn’t matter what I think about Todd Bentley, as far as I am concerned He is like a breath of FRESH AIR THE CHURCH HAS NEEDED THE BIGGEST KICK UP THE BACKSIDE as we are LUKEWARM and THERE are shepherds and leaders hindering their flock from growing into all that the Lord has in store for us keeping us hemmed in and limited That’s not What Jesus, is about he came TO SET THE CAPTIVES FREE and now the Newspaper steps in and starts to play God of course there is going to be controversy SATAN IS MIGHTY SCARED He doesn’t want England worshipping God he wants us to go to a lost eternity.
The Phrophets in the bible did very controversial thing. Before that lets be reminded what the heart of God was like when he test ABRAHAM, to see who was first in his heart Abraham to take his long awaited cherished BABY SON and offer him for a sacrifice on the ALTAR That is the GOD we serve but he stepped in with love and Mercy when Abraham was obedient. Then a PROPHET of great reputation told an Important KING, to go to river and dip him seven times then he would be healed. EXcuse Me River No way it was a Muddy river, Oh excuse me again IT WAS A SEWER and the King was Healed don’t knock Todd, Look what the Lord did in the bible. Whatever goes on with the money is between those who are the stewardship and they are accountable and they will answer if it is missused that is NOT OUR BUSINESS So what Todd Bentley has a past SO DO WE ALL and the ones writing the article DO THEY KNOW THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOUR AND KING do the critic know him properly are they concerned for the Lost souls, because it seems to me that Frshe fires with God tv are doing more for the LOST than the organised church and please remember the APOSTLE PAUL was originally Saul He was a murderer of Christians and UNTIL his Road to Damascus. He then became one of the most revered out of all the apostles. He wrote a quite a bit of bible with the help of the Holy Spirit and Knowing Jesus.

The bible tells us ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. What would you have thought of John the baptist eating Locusts and wild honey. Would you have got the hygene inspectors in oh that Locust is out of date you can’t eat it. What did Jesus do at the feeding of the five thousand. One of the disciples just grabbed a boys lunch out of his hand. Not please could I have your lunch the Lord needs it. Lets get real. Don Francisco sings about God using the dog next door, let’s remind ourselves of Balaam’s ass. I thank God he saved Todd Bentley, imagine what he be up to left to his own devices when we can have more vision for some of the hoodlums etc out there and for those who so respectable they don’t need God then we will have arrived This COUNTRY NEEDS THAT MINISTRY and had it have been another event it would not have been touched but because it has power and people are getting help and their has been testimony PEOPLE ARE AFRAID The devil starts to put lies and fear into people and they believe him
Since when has the church to be afraid of Salvation and healings Jesus did them all the time. Also Todd did mention SOME HEALING would be progressive and rather than instant.
I had a healing experience when I was prayed for by the Rev Trevor Dearing and my back healing was progressive although I was slain in the spirit and felt the warmth and peace minsitering to me while I was on the floor my pain returned later but I spoke to God about it and he said I am healing you but in my way so let us not scoff and lets GET ON FIRE FOR JESUS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

  16. Jesus spat on blind people, cursed pigs and fig trees and the religious authorities hated him. I know 1 John well. It tells us to watch out for false teachers and to test the spirits, to not blindly follow every whim. John write in the beginning of chpater 4.2 “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that congesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.” Yes, John says watch out for false teachers but then he sets the bar really low – if you believe Jesus incarnate was from God you’re fine. John also speaks of hatred for brothers, that how can you say you love God when you hate your brother. Todd Bentley confesses that Jesus is from God, he preaches the cross, he invites people to repentance and he has a fruitful healing ministry that shames the powerlessness of my denomination in Scotland. The people who had it in for Jesus were the Pharisees – they were the renewal movement of their day. Indeed Jesus held many Pharisaical beliefs such as local worship, the importance of the Word and the resurrection of the dead. If you are threatened by Todd Bentley, fine, change channel no one is forcing you to watch. But think carefully before spreading poison that can be read by millions. I came to this blog via Google and I am shocked at the vitriol and hatred in many of these comments, some of which have come from brothers and sisters in Christ. Love God, love your brethren and, if you can bring yourselves to listen to Jesus, love your enemies.
