C Peter Wagner & Doris Wagner on Healing Todd Bentley “A Demonised Mess”

Thanks again to ‘InlovewithJesus’ for this information that was emailed out from the Wagner Organisation around noon today.

“C. PETER WAGNER – President / DORIS M. WAGNER – Executive Vice President

CHUCK D. PIERCE – Harvest Watchman

A Message from Doris

My Take on the Lakeland Happenings

August 15, 2008

This past Tuesday, August 12, started out like any other tough travel day. Peter was out of the house by 4 a.m. heading to the airport for a grueling 24 plus hour trip to San Francisco, Tokyo, and finally to Singapore where he would arrive midnight the next day after crossing the International Date Line. He called me from San Francisco with his usual cheerful: “Hi, did you wake up?” He hadn’t awakened me to say goodbye since I had major surgery on my foot on August 1 and it is sometimes tough to sleep well with the cast on my foot and lower leg.

{Endtimes note: Why did Todd Bentley not pray for healing for her at Lakeland? Or any of the other signs and wonders workers in their movement pray for her healing – because Doris knows they are all false?]

Did I wake up? Man, the computer was filled with correspondence about Todd Bentley’s announcement that he was separating from his wife. This was not quite a complete surprise since late the evening before the rumor of marital strife had been dropped in our ears, but it was just a rumor. Of course we had hoped it wasn’t true. But there it was.

Since Peter doesn’t do his own email, I had to read the Lakeland Ledger newspaper article to him. He then called Chuck Pierce, who immediately wrote the following letter to Peter and e-mailed it to me and wanted to fax it to Peter in the United Airline lounge in San Francisco where he had a little layover. After some detective work (I couldn’t call him directly, his phone was busy and his battery was fading fast from overuse), I located him in the International Lounge and procured that fax number from the kind receptionist. She found him and positioned him at the fax machine where this letter from Chuck arrived:

[August 12, 2008 Chuck Pierce Letter as posted here http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/chuck-pierce-to-c-peter-wagner-re-todd-bentley-lakeland/]

To that, Peter added the following letter the “Lakeland Outpouring Apostolic Team”, Skyped it to our assistant and grabbed his plane for Tokyo and Singapore.

[The letter here: http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/08/16/c-peter-wagner-todd-bentleys-character-crisis-more-failures-to-come-out/]

Then, during all of Tuesday, until after 1 a.m. Wednesday, all of my time was spent at the computer with e-mails and they all fell into two categories: the PROS and the CONS, roughly pretty equally divided. Wednesday and Thursday, all of my waking hours have been spent answering this type of mail.

The Cons are pretty nasty. One even said: “Let me be the first to say ‘I told you so.’” These individuals asked Peter not to get involved in the “Lakeland Thing” from the onset. Some of them are probably rejoicing over Todd’s problems. Several are demanding a public apology from all who were on the platform on June 23rd, along with God TV. Many are disrespectful, seemingly calling names and slinging mud. They come across to me as jubilant in victory. I question the godliness of this attitude. Along the way we have lost friends who have ceased to trust us, pulled out of our organizations and separated from us. That’s o.k. They say we have been guilty of poor decisions and actions.

{Note that this lot are repeatedly putting words into the mouths of the critics, and attributing things to us we are not saying or doing – I know very few people who are rejoicing at the moment about this – most deeply grieve. Like I said in a previous post, it is little pleasure to be right about something as horrible as this.]

The Pros have seen things differently. They have agreed with our actions.

{But what about the Bible? Note this is not used here at all – even once. Their behaviour conflicted directly with scripture and they are accountable to God for this. Do they care]

Let me reflect a little on these actions as I see it. If I seem defensive, forgive me. Peter is such a kind and gentle person that he would never defend himself. I am a deliverance minister, and can become abrasive when I see Religious Spirits, Pharisaical Spirits, Spirits of jealousy, envy and even hatred become exposed.

{Ah so all the critics are religious, jealous and envious and hating? Not loving watchmen seeking to protect the flock from wolves savaging them? How loving and godly was is for Wagner to promote himself, his false apostles and false doctrines – as well as Bentley - at Lakeland – and publically endorse him?

For all her deliverance knowledge (and indeed her arrogance), Doris fails to discern false doctrine, antichrist spirits, blasphemous spirits, cheating spirits and lying spirits – evidently? Not just in Bentley but in many of the apostles and prophets aligned with her husband’s antichrist movements.]

The fattest of all is the Accuser of the Brethren very much at work in the current situation.

{So whenever critcism comes, it is always the devil doing it? This is not true or biblical!]

Whenever Peter is falsely accused in print, he usually just smiles and says “Did they spell my name right?” If things get really bad with false accusations, by a John Doe, he will serenely say “John Doe is not the enemy-we know who the enemy really is.” This ability to handle the negative really bugs some folks and they dislike him even more. Believe me, my pillow has been next to his for 58 years and I have seen this played out. There doesn’t seem to be a wide neutral zone, either he is liked or disliked. That’s just the way it is.

{Yeah but err..how has Wagner been falsely accused? He endorsed Bentley at Lakeland and is now lying about it and passing the buck. That is disgraceful. On top of this there is false prophecy and false teaching in Wagner’s false movement that has gone on for years – this is not just about Todd Bentley. And these guys – the same guys that created Lakeland and the beast Bentley have the cheek to offer to fix this for the church?!]

Peter is a man of the highest integrity. He’s a man of his word, as honest as the day is long. He has kept his wedding vows-no need to renew them, the old ones are still perfectly good! He has been total fun to live with and to raise our children together. He has treated me as a colleague with great respect. He is brilliant and godly. As we have been working on his memoirs, I have been amazed at what we have accomplished together, and we have worked side by side all of our married lives. Of all women, I consider myself to be highly blessed. Enough of that.

{Oh Peter is so wonderful. Yeah right. As honest as the day is long? With all the lies and charltanism abounding in this movement?!  And his latest lies, backtracking and passing the buck? Shame he is a lying deciever and false prophet and false apostle, eh?]

Peter did not jump into the “Lakeland Thing” lightly.

{So he did jump on it then, by your own admittance?]

He thought about it, prayed about it and we talked it over. Did “the outpouring” or Todd have some imperfections? Absolutely. Peter was asked to help out to set things in order and to investigate what some folks thought might be doctrinally “iffy.” He was asked to do this by Lakeland’s host, Stephen Strader, a colleague in the International Coalition of Apostles, which Peter leads. It was a “Macedonian Call” for help. That is Peter’s job. Many of the Con people mentioned above thought Peter should have said no to this plea. After serious thought, prayer and consultation, particularly with our most closely related prophet, Chuck Pierce, we decided to move forward.

{Most closely related prophet, Chuck Pierce? Wow that says a lot. Apart from this directly contradicting previous testimony that Todd was commissioned because of his enemies and this was a public endorsement – when has Wagner come forward with any report about the iffy goings on there, or even stated there were iffy goings on and that was his purpose there. He only previously gave the impression of endorsing Todd and Lakeland and alikened Todd to John Wimber! We are STILL waiting for this iffy report – yet within just hours this lot produced multiple reports about Todd’s failing marriage – this says much about their current priorities AND also their integrity or lack thereof.]

We felt as though there was a legitimate anointing on Todd’s life.

{because he falsely prophesied your agendas and promoted you?]

We knew he was an imperfect person but our honest desire was to sort out and save the good. The other charge against us is that we stupidly could not recognize that these miracles were being done under the power of a satanic spirit and that we were totally lacking in discernment. My answer to that is, there probably was some of the flesh at work on some occasions, and people operating with a higher level of discernment may have picked up on some things we could not. I seriously question whether a satanic spirit got away with all of the good. My conclusion is that it was mixed and we wanted to help sort out the good. The Apostolic Team of 11 apostles which Peter put together is still in the process of sorting all of that out, and time is needed to do that.

{Why is time needed when something is blatantly obvious?  Time is only needed to cover up…

It is also amazing that these guys can rapidly issue multiple statements about Bentley’s divorce within just hours, but not issue any statements in four months re all the false prophecy, lies and cheating etc etc]

The most serious charge against us is that the alignment meeting of June 23 was absolutely wrong (implying that at best we were misled, at worst committed a grave sin in so doing). Our thought was to bring alignment to Todd, thereby gaining the right to speak into his life and ministry as he accepted the apostolic oversight of Che Ahn, Bill Johnson and John Arnott. This was accomplished. Please reread Peter’s paper sent out to our entire mailing list a few days ago. Peter did not “ordain” Todd, as some journalists keep saying over and over wanting it to become truth. He blessed him, yes! Isn’t it strange that all the negative things surfaced so soon after alignment took place and Todd agreed to oversight?

{All the negative things? They were there from the beginning and “out” already!  Some were even committed that night before their eyes and they still commissioned Todd. And Peter Wagner did decree all these amazing things that never came to pass – so what does this say about Wagner’s apostleship? Or of the prophets that prophesied all that wonderful stuff over Todd that night? What does this say about their prophetic ability and also their discernment? THAT THEY ARE FALSE, THAT IS WHAT!

Also they – anybody - had a right to speak up about the things going on – nobody needs apostolically aligned to anybody else in order for someone to say what someone doing is morally or spiritually wrong]

I see all of this as God’s great mercy and love.

{Huh?}

Lots of critics just plain don’t like Todd’s looks. He’s tattooed and pierced and dresses down on the platform. I wouldn’t want my son to look like that, but to throw it all out at the cost of throwing out the anointing needs to be carefully considered.

{Yawn, people don’t. Why deliberately misquote the critics, Mrs Wagner? ]

But then the world didn’t think much of John the Baptist who probably wore smelly camel pelts and ate bugs.

{uh huh, but he did not cover himself with demonic tattoos, or lie about when he got them. Or falsely prophesy or blaspheme or preach a distorted gospel or rob and abuse the saints…]

Jesus had other thoughts about John, however. As I work in the field of deliverance we start with what wants help and go from there.

{John did not need deliverance.  And also, crucially, when and where did you start? You only speak up now, long after the horse has already bolted. This is just plain hypocritical.]

To see some major transformation in a person’s life is a miracle often witnessed. We work with some raunchy raw material at times and our only prerequisite is that they want to be helped. It’s enough. Man, indeed, looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. Let’s look at hearts and the hand of God, and bless what He is blessing.

{And the critics did not go by appearances and looked at the heart and did not like Todd’s heart one bit. I have not yet heard confession or repentence from that heart or from those that promoted him.]

Todd is in a perfect spot for help.

{Why aren’t any of you mentioning SIN and CONFESSION and REPENTENCE?]

The night of June 23 when we were there, Todd gave a long testimony. He has been wounded, and has wounded others along the way. He is still a young man, rescued from the streets and a biker society. He is not highly schooled or terribly polished. He does not fit the scholarly, seminary finishing school mold. He has not had the advantage of a solid steady home environment. But then again God has this habit of not choosing the things that we would choose. I could easily see that Todd needs deep inner healing and professional-level deliverance he has not yet had the opportunity to receive. One of our critics said that we got it backwards and should have taken him into a back room and ministered to him before the ceremony. We had the luxury of a few minutes with Todd before the evening meeting. We had never met the man before. Was I to say “Hey, Todd, you’re a mess and need help in the next five minutes”?

{Note the glowing report that they gave of Todd on June 24th on the Elijah List which contradicts all this. IF they honestly thought Todd was a demonised mess, that needed “professional” deliverance and inner healing – coming from them of course, (how proud and elitist) – then they confess not only did they not administer much needed ministry to him, but they falsely testified and allowed a demonised man to continue to minister to the masses with satanic impartations… and if Todd is the demonised mess they testify to, then what does this say about his angels, his visions, his impartations and anointings and transference? And what does it say about his glory and healing anointing he basks in? And his claims that he has been healed and his marriage restored – he even claimed this on June 23rd! It means he falsely testified yet again.

And crucially, why is NOW the time to minister to him, not then? Because it is now public and you can slap yourselves on the back and endorse yourselves once again, you hypocrits?]

The prescribed protocol is to put things in proper alignment first, then be in a position to speak into his life.

{according to?]

That opportunity is presenting itself now. Todd now has the opportunity to address some character flaws and get them healed and corrected in order to carry the anointing God has given him. We in deliverance and inner healing minister to these things daily-they are nothing to be ashamed of.

{Ok so Todd is to be healed and delivered of his charater flaws – all without confession and repentence – wow! Not his fault really. Pass the buck, zero true acountability.

And what anointing is it exactly that God has given him? Really? There are no medically verified healings so it is not healing, their is only false prophecy so it is not prophecy, it is not preaching or teaching as he teaches and preaches a false gospel, it is not love, as he mocks and abuses the saints, it is not social care or compassion as he only graps money for himself - and so what does that leave? He has no integrity or holiness so according to I John this man is not even in Christ or of God, or in the ONE true anointing.]

Not to deal with them out of pride or denial is where the shame can take hold. I worked with dairy cows as a kid and picked up some of their lice once. My mom told me as she treated my head with some smelly remedy “The shame is not in getting lice, the shame is in keeping them.” I never had lice again!

{What does the Bible say about sin? Not this! Doris is effectively saying there is no shame in sin? Wow!]

Be assured that Todd’s overseers, Che, John and Bill along with Peter are hard at work.

[I am sure they are, but not with godly motives and agendas.]

Please give us some time. Peter is in Singapore and goes on to Indonesia for a few days and will not be back until next week. Che is ministering in Korea. Bill and John have killer schedules all summer long. We are working as best and as fast as we can, but there are constraints that slow us a little. Things like thousands of miles and schedules that cannot be changed, and when it is day here it is night in Asia.

I am very optimistic. I see a door of opportunity swung wide open. I see a wonderful, merciful God reaching out. What many are calling a rotten mess I see as a splendid chance for one of the church’s finest hours. The mess was there festering for a while anyway, now let’s fix it. Is Todd’s situation a strange thing? The breakup of the family is one of the most common societal problems we face today. How many other couples contemplating family breakup could be encouraged to get help if this is a successful rehabilitation?

{Todd’s marriage breakup is the least of the problems! What of the others, Mrs Wagner?]

Todd now has some fathers by his side to help in time of need and to avoid shipwreck if he chooses to accept that help. He now has some authority in his life, and parameters are comforting to kids. He is deeply loved by many who are in a position to help spiritually, emotionally and mentally. He is a place of protection he did not have the luxury of before June 23.

{Wow. Talk about taking the place of God and elevating this ungodly crew!  Being in the “luxury” of being “In a place of protection” from spiritual fathers.  Spiritual fathers? This is an ungodly phrase for a start and these men are not spiritual and not fathers.  And how is Todd in a place of protection he was not in June 23rd. Can these apostles take away his sin?]

Let me close by asking and a few questions:

Might it be that there is a hunger for revival as never before in our country? I think so.

Might it be that God wants to send us that revival and is anxious to do so but needs the right persons and proper government in His church to look after it? I think so.

{Of course you would think so. Seeing as you think false prophets and false apostles are that proper government, and you just so happen to be married to the “pope”. There you have it folks, if you want revival you must come under the false apostles.  And does that mean Mrs Wagner is testifying that Lakeland was false?]

Could it be that there was true anointing in an imperfect vessel and a merciful God wanted to set up circumstances to bring healing to Todd? I think so.

{True anointing?! Yeah right. How can this be? Doris tetsifies for a God of false prophets and liars when she says this]

Could it be that when one apostle asked another for help in separating truth from error in a situation of mixture, that error began to surface so quickly? Isn’t the church better off when error is exposed and corrected? I think so.

{But I thought it was demonic individuals, satanists and warlocks that were exposing error? I guess this means the apostles are saying they are the only ones able to deal with error when it suits them. Which isn’t yet apparently.

Error was surfaced and exposed from the beginning. And it has still not been corrected by the false apostles despite all the talk.

Doris Wagner is claiming it is apostolic oversight that brought this error out into the open? And there it was me thinking it was ABC Nightline!]

Could it be that God brought alignment, authority and order into the Lakeland situation and once that order was established Todd was in a safe place to be ministered to? If a wounded soul gets help and is rehabilitated, isn’t that good? Isn’t it wonderful to have a restoration process in place to help a brother back to useful service and full use of his gifts and anointing? If he decides not to be helped, we have done our job in making that help available, and his overseers have charge of his care.

{Wonderful to use false gifts and false anointing? Who would want that, or think that is good, but the evil one?]

Isn’t this what the church is supposed to look like? I think so. If we fail, at least we will have tried. Not to have tried would have been failure to do what God required of us at this point in time.

{Not God, dear. You do not work for God.]

Now here is where you come in. PLEASE PRAY. Ask God to so minister to Todd to soften his heart and to reach out for help, and to be fully healed. Ask God to help him to be willing to submit to the apostolic oversight that has been put in place. Ask God to heal his marriage and protect and bless his wife and three children.

{Where is the specific PUBLIC confession and repentence, and the specific public rebuke? Not just by Todd but all the others complicit in this dirty business?

“Apostolic Oversight put into place” – put into place NOT By God though by men. Why would I ask God to put Todd, an unrepentent brazen liar, cheat and evil, dirty man, under more unrepentent spiritually dark liars and evil men? To what end would I want this? For this is the devil’s doing, the promotion and elevaton of the antichrist NAR as has always been the plan, and I will have no part of it!]

This episode has the potential of being one of the finest hours the church has seen in recent years.

{!!!!  Finest Hour because it elevates them!}

I implore you to pray. Because this has all been so public it is all of our business

{Because it is public we have issued public statements, otherwise we would have kept it covered it up.]

and we must act on our knees. We have a real enemy capable of infiltrating the church

{Cue – that’s the Wagner’s NAR]

to truncate this process. Let’s fight for victory!

Sincerely, in Christ,

Doris”

  1. Miriam, Here is a open letter from Che Ahn’s website,

Many of you may have heard that Todd Bentley and his wife, Shonnah, have separated this past week. I, along with you, am deeply saddened by the separation. None of us are completely aware of all the circumstances, but I do know that they had problems three years ago.

At that time, they sought counseling and went forward believing their marriage was restored. It is obvious that the stress of the outpouring meetings at Lakeland has had a major effect on their current relationship.

I tried to reach Todd from Korea but I was unsuccessful. John Arnott and Bill Johnson have talked with Todd, and Todd is stepping down from ministry and is willing to seek counseling. As of this time, the Bentleys are still going through with their separation.

Please pray that their marriage will be fully restored. It is not surprising that the enemy would use this incident and anything he can find to impugn the work of God to cause us and all involved to question the Lakeland revival.

Every revival that I have experienced or studied had its controversy, and the Lakeland revival, to say the least, has had its share.

But we at HRC believe that this is a true move of God because we have personally seen the effects of the Lakeland outpouring. We have seen firsthand the lives that have been changed, saved and delivered through this recent outpouring.

We have been witness to the power of Jesus physically healing many, including my daughter Joy, and healings of a number of our church members who went to Lakeland. We have also seen those who went to Lakeland come back with a greater healing impartation that is transferable. They are walking and imparting that greater anointing in increasing power and miracles wherever they minister today.

I have personally ministered in a dimension of creative miracles that I have never seen in more than 30 years of being in the healing ministry. I attribute the shift to the impartation I personally received at Lakeland.

We have been tremendously blessed to be part of the “Outpouring” at Harvest Rock Church. I believe the best is still ahead, even though Todd has stepped down.

I have every confidence that God began the “Outpouring,” and the “cat is already out of the bag.” Thousands upon thousands in our nation and many others have already received the impartation to cause it to continue and grow.

The original prophecies about the Outpouring said that the further it went from the epicenter where it began, the stronger the anointing would be. I believe that means we are to take it as carriers and be faithful to continue imparting what God began.

Our urgent concern now is for a family that is really hurting and is in desperate need of our prayers. May God have mercy on Todd and his family and pour out His incredible grace to bring them into healing and wholeness.

May God have mercy on us all, and may we carry mercy in our hearts to be reconcilers to those who would use this to destroy the marvelous wonders God has done and is yet to do.

    In His love,

    Che Ahn
    Senior Pastor

  2. I really enjoy reading your articles. I don’t believe in modern prophecy or visions, but that’s not a difference that will keep any from Christ. What I AM glad to see is that you can see the whole Todd Bentley thing for what it really is, lies and deceptions. Coming from someone who believes in endtime prophecy and visions, you’re making a pretty loud statement! I wish more (whichever denomination or Christian belief system they may have) would step up and call it like they see it. Thank you for your honesty, God Bless!!!

  4. Hi everyone – re Lakeland etc.

By now everyone must have heard of the break up of Todd’s marriage. Unfortunately it’s not that rare these days is it, for many divorced and re-married people are in the ministry. The great Methodist preacher, John Wesley had a terrible disastrous marriage. Although he didn’t divorce his wife, she was a thorn in the flesh to him. She would drag him around the room by his hair, hit him, verbally abuse him, and try to wreck his meetings and ministry. I would encourage you to encourage people and pray for them and not beat them up. Bearing in mind that the Holy Spirit is “the encourager.” it doesn’t seem too encouraging to me to kick people when they are down. Where’s the redemptive quality in that?

As I was checking on some of the info I came across some websites with very critical articles about Todd and Lakeland and other well known prophetic type ministries. Of course my name was also out there on the “hit lists,” but I am not as big and famous as people like Heidi Baker, Bob Jones, Todd, Rick Joyner etc., so they didn’t spend all that time on me as they do with people like Rick, Bob J, Bobby Conner, and Paul Keith.

I felt very sick after I read some of the stuff. I mean physically sick. I wondered what it was about the articles that affected me that way. Then I realized that it was bitterness. In Hebrews 12 it has a very strong warning about bitterness

    Heb 12:14-15
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

    Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

    KJV

Many people have forwarded me emails they have received that were mean, unkind and very bitter, and I have replied to them, saying, “Unsubscribe from that list, it is full of bitterness.” Bitterness can come out of someone and DEFILE other people. Isn’t it odd that some sins, especially sexual sins are just not acceptable, but unkind words, unforgiveness, anger, spite, critical spirits, fear and skepticism are tolerated! ( it does classify in Revelation 21 that the unbelieving and fearful will be cast into the lake of fire along with the murderers).

Funny enough a couple of the articles that were full of bitterness and resentment said they were saying (more like spewing) all these things ” in love.” There was nothing loving about any of it. When you speak in love- you appeal- you don’t make blanket judgments. Jesus gave us a warning about making judgments – He said they would come back to you. That’s pretty scary if you think about it.

Did you realize that judgment come from pride? If you make judgments then you are assuming the position of God. We are not given permission to judge someone’s motives. We have all done or said some dumb things sometimes. I don’t know any ministry that has it all together and has never messed up. We have been in the ministry for 35 years by the way, I didn’t come out of the woodwork overnight, or grow up with the mushrooms yesterday.

Am I saying that we just swallow everything, that we never ask a question, or have a caution or use any discernment? No of course not – No we are not jump on to the first new thing that happens to come along. It is not wise for leaders to immediately endorse a new powerful event, it’s tempting to see it as an opportunity to receive part of the credit, if it goes well.

Unfortunately, if it goes bad then they end up with egg on their faces and lose some credibility .

If you don’t want your church or yourself to be attacked, then don’t have any supernatural move, don’t move out in the prophetic, don’t have any miracles and then you will be left alone ( and bored.)

I am not a dummy and I wasn’t born yesterday. My pastor was probably the greatest expository preacher in the world, so I did not lack for good theology and I could probably out-theologize most people. BUT – in all the discerning and figuring out – be careful about judging people’s hearts and motives. Jesus did not judge by what He saw or heard – and we are not supposed to do that either. You can’t go by what you see with your eyes or hear with your ears – you have to discern the heart BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

I had to laugh at this guy who said he went to a prophetic conference at Kansas City – he believed he had a message from God and his message was not received by the other prophets who were ministering there. They didn’t know who he was and had never heard of him for a start. Well guess what? In his opinion, all the other prophets were wrong and he was the only one who was right?? He seemed to be very resentful about it and has been attacking them ever since.

I went to Lakeland – I didn’t get any particular impartation or anything – a bit loud and noisy for me, too “hypey” ( is there such a word?) But, I know many many people who got powerfully impacted and carried that same power and anointing back to their cities all over the world, and their lives were profoundly changed, like the testimony I just sent out from Michelle who just graduated form the school in Lakeland. That was a powerful testimony to the love of God to shower us with His benefits

Does that mean that Todd Bentley is totally “approved” by God in every area of his life? – not it doesn’t, but God honors your faith and He doesn’t use us because of us – more like in spite of us. Thousands thronged to William Branham even after he got to believing he was Elijah. People still got healed – God honored their faith, but God lifted His grace in the end. It wasn’t all William Branham’s fault as some of the people seemed to almost worship him because of the great gift in operation.

When a man gets into pride, (if you think you are Elijah I would say there is some pride and deception there,) then God lifts His grace and then you fall into the first hole that you come to.

We are all kept only by the grace of God. Humility is knowing that it’s ALL GOD by the way. Your salvation, your sanctification your redemption is totally because of God’s grace – there not one thing you can add to what Jesus has done for you.

People who think their calling is to correct the Body of Christ must assume that have all the answers.

You have to learn to listen to the witness in your spirit -You have been given the witness in your spirit to teach you. The anointing within you is to teach you. He will witness to the truth in your spirit.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him (1 John 2:27.)

    KJV

Don’t eat bitter fruit or take in bitter words – it is not healthy. The Love and grace of God is your portion.

One time years ago when David and I were traveling in America ( we lived in London at the time) we ministered in some house groups in the North Atlanta area. On the Sunday we were due to speak at one of the larger house groups. We had not met this particular house group leader before and so one of the other elders took us to the house on Saturday night to meet the pastor in charge of the Sunday group.

We went to this man’s house. Myself, David, and a girl who was traveling with us on that trip. Her name was Sue. When we knocked on the door a nice
looking man answered. He welcomed us and I assumed he was the leader we were there to meet. As he shook my hand and smiled at me- I saw a spirit of
adultery in his eyes. It was not a hidden thing, it was bold I must say that it shocked me. I could see from Sue’s face that she saw it too.

We went on into the living room and there were a number of people standing and sitting around, chatting.

An old minister/friend from England ( Arthur Burt) was sitting there, talking to someone and seemed oblivious. I couldn’t understand it – surely if I could see this,
Arthur could see it. He had been in the ministry for 60 years.

I was trying to talk to Arthur with my eyes- WHY DON’T YOU DO SOMETHING?”Surely if I can see this brazen spirit, you can too.” Sue was trying to do the same
thing to me. She was making weird faces at me across the room.

Suddenly Arthur put down the Orange Juice he was holding and gave forth a very loud message in tongues. The whole room was silenced. After that he
gave a message or interpretation in English. It went something like this ” You have until this time tomorrow to uncover or be discovered by the Spirit
of God.” Then he picked up his orange juice and continued his conversation with the lady next to him.

Well when we got back to place we were staying I went immediately to my room. ‘Ok God what Was that all about?” God said to me ” I couldn’t use
you Kathie because you already judged the man in your heart.” I realized that was true. When I SAW the spirit of adultery – I was already making assessments and judgments in my heart. Not consciously, but unconsciously. With most of us, our minds are geared that way because` we haven’t been taught NOT to
live in that realm, of sight and sound and feel.

Of course Arthur Burt has been around a very long time, he is not a dummy. I am sure he SAW the spirit but he DIDN’T KNOW IT UNTIL GOD TOLD HIM.

The word he gave did its own work. We had a great meeting in the morning but in the evening the leader took off with a lady in the church and never
    did come back.

So I learned some more about the spirit of false judgment and how it is rooted in pride. “He Has showed you Oh man what is good and what does the
Lord require of you, but to do justly and to LOVE mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

If you have a word from God for Todd or anyone else- that’s one thing- go to them or someone over him but don’t put out your own negative thoughts and criticisms out there floating around the internet and defile others with it – yuck!

If you are interested in learning more about how NOT to judge by the seeing of the eye or the hearing of the ear ( false judgment) you can read my book ” The Spirit of False Judgment.” It’s on my website.

  5. There ıs no bıblıcal precedent for someone gaınıng a rıght to speak ınto another persons life. God speaks thru anyone He wants and that ıs the precedant. The prophets of old did not have to gain a right. That is hogwash.

  8. When there are outright coverups and lies being told and practiced publicly, they can be spoken again publicly. We’re called to judge the fruit of the tree, not the heart of the person.

  9. This letter from Doris Wagner is very troubling to say the least. She appears absolutely “clueless” to how this Lakeland thing and those endorsing it has affected those who had discernment and were sounding the alarm.
This thing has been truly grevious to many in the BoC who have wept and interceded over the delusion, deception and lack of discernment and leadership.
They allow TB to broadcast this stuff globally and expect the BoC to silently take it??? Just trust them to sort it out and make their official statements??? Incredible!
Her letter comes off as defensive and intimidating. We’ve had enough of that!
She states she has sensitivity to religious spirits etc. Where is the sensitivity to lying spirits, unclean spirits, seducing spirits, deluding spirits??????
It appears they really don’t “get” at all how this has been for many people.
    Sad, sad, sad.

  10. Your point William Southward (#7) is well taken. What we’re seeing as an admission of a dalliance with a FEMALE staff and separation proceedings, i do not think would have prompted his Board of Directors to so suddenly remove Todd from the ministry per the letter published 8/16 on Todd’s website. It feels like we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg…. of any number of possible problems consistent with Todd’s own testimony regarding his past. I commend my brothers and sisters who have stood as ‘watchman on the wall’ or perhaps ‘watchman on their knees’. Continue to stand guard without guile as i believe this is just a test case…. more to come. In Todd’s vacancy others will come in to fill the void. The lust for ministry recognition is epidemic in North America. The key to what is valid is testfied by revival history…. communities transformed by repentance, tears and agony of souls over sin which is followed by the glorious experience of God’s Presence. Initially not pretty as moves of the Holy Spirit are ‘messy’…. but the results bring clearly recognizable fruit especially love, forgiveness and passion for the lost delivering persons and communities out of their present darkness. Bless y’all!!

  12. Kate, well said #10. Lust for Ministry recognition is indeed rampant. Pulpit fever also.
I am just glad I am outta there and not sitting in a chair like a trained seal doing tricks for the “control” leader. Stand up, sit down. Raise your hands, now clap em. Get all excited and dance. Now dig in your pocket and give what you don’t have. On and on. I hope the rest of the seals will wake up and get out of thoses circuses.

  13. My thoughts go out to Todd’s wife and kids. I have no doubt that there is more to come out. Sadly Time is always against false teachers and prophets. Slowly Todd’s tall tales are being exposed. Healings are being investigated and dismissed. Prophecies are being proved false. Now Todd himself is being exposed. yet the damaged done is done . Even with Todd out of the public picture, if only for a while. The impartation he inparted continues. To any sane individual this also must be dismissed as being FALSE. But I suspect people will continue with it. The prophecies were false, the healing were never really there. The experiences debunked, the man sadly exposed and descrdited. There was no real revival. Outside of Todd services the city of Lakeland remained as it had been, unsaved unconvicted and unchanged. But the spirits behind the impartation will keep rolling on. Embraced, coveted, protected, encouraged. In the end this will be the Lakeland legacy. This is what men will seek to protect. Todd may be sacrificed but the spirit behind it will be promoted. I have no doubt that even if Todd slowly vanishes from the scene (which only time will tell) there is another who will come forth to take his place and continue to impart these spirits. The hydra (many headed serpent) seems to lose one head only to grow another. Watch this space!

  14. All of the statements about todd and the lakeland revival are worded very carefully. The people who were connected with it are now doing damage control and worse here the wife doris has to do it.

  15. I have read many of the blogs about Todd Bentley and the “Lakeland Revival” and was also there twice. I know that God was there but believe that “man” corrupted a potential move that could have glorified God. It is sad to see what has happened with this domino effect and truely hurts Christians as people are easy to jump onto the bandwagon and critize what could have truely been a move of God.

Unfortunately as I watched the nightly meetings on God TV there were many what I will call “questions” I began to get such as batptizing in the name of God, the Son and the Bam. That one stuck a chord in me as being at least rude to the Holy Spirit. Some of the other speakers that were on when Todd was not there were actually better speaking more from the Bible and on repentence, etc. But, I am not here to also jump on the negative bandwagon which hurts all Christians. We seem to be doing a very good job of doing it ourselves, never mind the non Christian critics as well.

I want to tell of a healing to my 14 year old daughter that happened on a Friday night while we were watching the “revival” on our computer on God TV. My daughter had really bad eyesite of 20/50 and 20/60 with a incurable stigma of some type and Todd called out a “word of knowledge” for eye healings. I told my daughter to put her hands on her eyes and pray for God to heal her. I also put my hand on her and said a simple prayer like “God do your thing” and that was it. Since she did not notice any immediate healing we just put it out of our minds.

Several weeks later my daughter went to the doctor to have her physical prior to going to a band camp and read the eye chart and was 20/15 and 20/20. My wife thought she had her contacts in but she said that she had not worn them in weeks and thought nothing of it because of the summer break and not being in school.

The doctor stated that with the type of stygma my daughter had it was nearly impossible to be reversed in a few months since her last physical exam. He said it must be a healing from God. It was also three days before she went to a missions trip to Europe when we found this out!!

So, to all the naysayers out there, there is a real and true miracle that happened to my 14 year old daughter. No one can take that away from her. It is Labor Day and she goes to school tomorrow without contacts or glasses!!! I am sure some can say that it was just her eyes correcting themselves but really I know the truth and so does she.

I believe God can move anyway he wants even with sin in a so called “false revival”. All I can say is don’t limit our God. He is soverign!! He is and was at Lakeland!!

  16. I’m still trying to figure this out. I’m not pro Bentley and I’ve never been to one of his meetings or watched one on the internet. I’ve just seen a few clips on youtube. Correct me if I’m wrong–but all this hoohaw is about Todd Bentley entering into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. It sounds to me like he hasn’t actually committed adultery or anything like that so it seems like it’s been blown out of proportion. Also people are upset that he’s separated from his wife. Separation doesn’t necessarily mean divorce. People seem to be jumping the gun on this.
On the other hand, I have some concerns about all the angel stuff and about hitting people who are being prayed for and of course false reports of healings. I have been to churches that have the same kind of occurences as those reported at the Lakeland revival (shaking, falling down, laughing, etc.) I know people who have this happen to them regularly. I believe their faith in God is sincere and have a hard time being convinced that this is some kind of demonic kundalini thing. On the other hand, I’ve never had it happen to me even though I’ve been to several meetings where this was going on. I’ve also seen the exagerration of healing reports and have been declared healed on more than one occasion while being prayed for but it did not happen. On the other hand, there was one time when I trully did get healed after a women prayed for me at one of these types of meetings. Its nothing that I can document because it was a condition that I never went to a doctor about. I know why they declare a person healed even if it’s not evident. It’s because this is how they are taught to pray for the sick. They believe that it’s the word of God and we should just step out in faith and declare it. I do believe in healing. I believe it’s God’s will because it says in the bible that everyone Jesus prayed for was healed. Everyone that came to him asking for it was healed. There is scripture after scripture that tell us that it is God’s will to heal. Now if we are praying for people and they are not getting healed does that mean we go and reinterpret the word of God so that it matches our experience? No, of course not. It also doesn’t mean that we go around foolishly proclaiming healings that are not happening. There are some real healings occuring but not nearly as many as there should be. Why is this? I don’t know but it doesn’t change my faith because my faith is in God and his word. It does cause me to pray and ask that God would bring us in to the real experience of healing as it is portrayed in the Bible. By the way, this applies to everything in the Bible as it relates to the body of Christ, not just healing.

    Comment by Laurie | September 6, 2008

  17. What has happened is people are trying to produce what they believe in. They are trying to force it because that’s what they’ve been taught to do. They proclaim a healing before it’s seen because they think that somehow by doing this they will invoke the power of God. When healing doesn’t occur it is ignored because what else can they do?

There are enough genuine healings to keep people encouraged in doing this but this is not what happened in the Bible. Jesus healed all who were brought to him. The disciples healed the sick and cast out devils too. And besides the twelve disciples there were an additional 70 disciples who also were sent out two by two to heal the sick (Luke 10). And remember this all happened before Pentecost. There was only one time that I’m aware of that someone was prayed for and not delivered and that was when the disciples could not cast out a demon because of their unbelief (Matthew 17:19-21).

We should just be honest about it and stop trying to conjure up anything. If we are not seeing the results we expect or the results we are led to expect from our interpretation of the Word then we should keep seeking God until we do see them. In the meantime, yes, pray for the sick and Yes, pray with faith expecting to see healing but don’t proclaim healings that have not occurred. I would even go so far as to say don’t advertise genuine healings even. Let the people who are actually healed spread the news of God’s goodness.

Ministers have been put up on pedestals and they are no different than you and I. They have the same failures and weaknesses that we all have. Imagine if the media were scrutinizing every aspect of your life. Imagine if everything you spoke or did both now and in the past was put up for all the world to criticize and judge.

I believe that we are seeing the end of the days of the big name ministers and ministries. People should not be put on a pedestal. Don’t run after a person or even after the anointing. Run after Jesus. You are deceived if you think some person has more access to God then you do. Read your Bible. Pray to God yourself. Ask your brothers and sisters to pray for you if you’re sick as it says in the word. The things that Tod Bentley was doing are nothing new and they are happening all over the world when ordinary people turn to Jesus themselves and start believing the word of God. All the promises of God are yea and amen to those that believe. You don’t have to go to Lakeland just go to Jesus. He said that where two or three are gathered together in his name, there he is in the midst of them.

In the bible, there was no hype. Jesus did not go around preaching healing or advertising it–he just did it–he healed people and cast out demons and he told his disciples to do the same. The word got spread around by the people who were healed and eventually it got so that people were thronging Jesus (so much so that he had to avoid them at times). Jesus even told some people not to tell others about what he had done (probably to avoid all the excitement it caused).

When he did teach it was mostly about heart issues. Have you ever noticed that? His teaching that is recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were more often than not about issues of the heart and whether a persons faith was genuine or not. There are no recorded discourses where Jesus says 10 people in this crowd are going to give $100 each. There are no long discourses about tithing but there are a few about giving with the right heart attitude.

I don’t hate Tod Bentley and I don’t even think he is a fraud. Yes I do question some of his teachings and practices but I think he genuinely believes in God and that he believes that he is called of God to do what he does. I could care less about the tattoos or piercings. He doesn’t have a rich lifestyle and his finances have been examined by the Province newspaper in Canada and it’s pretty obvious that getting rich is not what he’s about. I watched the interviews on Geraldo and Nightline and I didn’t find them to be as scandalous as I’d been led to believe by some of the posts I’ve read both here and on YouTube. He is not saying that everyone gets healed. He is just praying for people and believing for a miracle in peoples lives.

I really liked reading Kathie’s post above (#4). Especially about the scripture about bitterness–that was so true!

  18. Perhaps the leaders are frightened of this man’s power (whatever source it may hail from) and are somewhat hesitant to correct him or employ deliverance tactics upon him?
