Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

Pastor Caught With His Hands in the Till

Article from here, 21st August 2008

“A Round Rock pastor who admitted to stealing more than $500,000 from his church pleaded guilty today in District Judge Ken Anderson’s court.

Donald Clyde, 49, turned himself in last August after he told officials he took money from the Forest Creek Church in Round Rock to buy vacations, property, horses and boats. He told police that he used the church’s bank accounts and credit cards for the purchases.

A church accountant noticed some strange charges on the accounts, and when a leadership group began looking into the case, Clyde stepped down. He had been with the church, which has a membership of about 1,500, since 1992.

Clyde pleaded guilty to two counts of felony theft, both of which carry a penalty of up to life in prison. But prosecutors and Clyde’s defense attorney, Marc Ranc, asked that Clyde receive five years in prison for the first charge and 10 years probation for the second charge, and that the sentences run concurrently.

Anderson accepted Clyde’s guilty pleas, but ordered a pre-sentencing interview to consider the facts of the case, including that he has paid $343,000 in restitution.

Marc Ranc, Clyde’s attorney, said his client stole about $700,000 from the church.

“From the beginning, Mr. Clyde took responsibility and cooperated with the district attorney’s office,” Ranc said. “The church is the most important thing to him.”

Clyde’s sentencing is set for Oct. 2.”

  2. Of course the church was the most important thing to him. That’s where he got all that money. The funny thing is that it’s not like he just made one mistake and is now regretting it. This seemed to have been going on for YEARS. I’m sure that he prays to the lord everyday to forgive him. He will probably believe that he’s been forgiven so everything is OK now. Look at the reverend Ted Haggard. He had an affair with a male escort and a meth addiction. Now he’s trying to raise money for his family to be able to keep living well. I wouldn’t be surprised if this pastor begins a campaign to raise money so that he may pay back the church. It’s this kind of hypocrisy that makes some of these “holy men” the scum of the earth.

  3. All of these christian fundamentalist in America are crooks, who support crime and violence. Collecting money to fly private planes and live large while the people who attend their church live in poverty.

Some support wars to kill people who are none Americans, and support crooked deals by their governments, such as Haggie, who does a good sermon till he starts speaking about winning the war in Iraq. How do you know when you have won, is it when there is not a single Iraqi alive?.

Injustice against people of the world is a serious thing, when these men who come in gods name and have no good in their hearts, it is simple, its evil.

When did got tell man to promote wars crime or violence, or discrimination. Spread the word of the teaching of the gospel. live by gods laws not the laws of the Jungle.
