Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

Experiences with Kenneth Copeland Ministries, KCM

Article by Tom Killingsworth from his website here.

“I would have left the Word of Faith on the basis of that denomination’s Gnosticism and the abuses of the Prosperity Gospel. But I would have parted peacefully. The abuses of human beings that I saw at the hands of leaders in the Word of Faith, particularly Kenneth Copeland, his daughter Terri Pearsons, and other leaders at Kenneth Copeland Ministries (KCM) and Eagle Mountain International Church (EMIC) are the reasons that I am blogging all this. Copeland needs to be exposed as a tyrant and a fraud! Let me tell you what happened and you can judge for yourself.

My wife and I had been followers of Kenneth Copeland since 1990. We believed everything he said. While not members of Eagle Mountain International Church (the church affiliated with KCM and pastored by Copeland’s son in law), we did go there. We always wanted to work for KCM, and in August of 2003, we both got our chance. We were so excited! This was the opportunity of a lifetime – to be able to help Brother Copeland put legs to his vision and help expand the Kingdom of God!

Yeah. We were in for a rude awakening! It was one thing to see KCM and EMIC from the outside. It was quite another to be insiders.

What we saw was nothing short of spiritual abuse and Shepherding. Remember, in a previous article [see here and  here], I mentioned two separate sources that prove that Kenneth Copeland married the Word of Faith with Shepherding. Keep that in mind as you read our experiences.

While I was at KCM, a nationally famous minister came in to encourage us at one of our staff “chapels.” He said “Don’t ask questions. Just do what you’re told. If you ask questions, then you aren’t in faith.” If we were going to do our job, didn’t we need to know what we were doing, and didn’t that mean we had to ask questions? This was nothing less than Shepherding, a restatement of “Don’t touch the anointed!”

A friend of mine who attended EMIC, began to become concerned about the direction the church was headed. It seemed all he heard were sermons on prosperity. So, he wrote the pastor a letter outlining his concerns. The next week, the pastor stood up and held up my friend’s letter and said “I have received a letter from a member outlining some concerns with our church. These are legitimate concerns and questions and I want to answer them. So, next week, I will answer this letter, question by question.”

The following week, the senior pastor remained seated, in a very submissive manner. His wife, Terri Pearsons, the senior associate pastor and Copeland’s daughter, stood up and took the microphone. In front of a congregation of 3,500 people, she said “Some of you have questioned what is taught in this church. If you don’t like it, I suggest you go find another church that you can more easily manipulate, because it won’t happen here.” My friend said that his blood ran cold because he knew the pastor’s wife was talking about him. Then the pastor’s wife led the congregation in an oath of allegiance to the pastor. I was there that day. I refused to take the oath, and I never returned after that Sunday. Oddly enough, KCM did not have a job requirement commanding employees to be members of EMIC, so we left and went elsewhere. An oath of allegiance? Total obedience to the pastor is a concept of Shepherding. I no longer ask myself why this woman said what she said. If Shepherding is a part of the official doctrine of KCM/EMIC, then she was just doing what she thought she was supposed to do.

That was not the only occasion, either. We later learned that the pastor’s wife also publicly humiliated and eviscerated the head of the greeter department, simply because the head greeter refused to require all her ladies to wear dresses, and allowed a few to wear pants suits. In other words, the pastor’s wife, a member of the Copeland family, enacted the Shepherding practice of telling someone how to dress.

I have a friend who worked at KCM at the same time I did. While she worked there, her mother “came out of the closet” and declared herself to be a lesbian. A coworker took my friend aside and said that her mother couldn’t be her family anymore because she was going to Hell. Her coworkers were her family now. This cut my friend to her core! I don’t know the motivations of the woman who said this to my friend, but the end result was spiritual abuse. This is a sign of Shepherding, a belief that they have the right to tell us who our friends and family ought to be.

During my tenure at that ministry, I experienced quite a bit of indirect Shepherding. I say indirect, because these were rules that were hinted at, not given to me directly in writing or as a verbal warning. The appearance of what was appropriate was more important to leadership than our spiritual walk with God. So I knew I had to wear a mask of correct behavior and not admit to liking things that were frowned upon by the Copeland family (in my case, comic books, science fiction stories, unbridled sex for pleasure with my wife, and the theological works of non-Charismatic ministers). If any of us employees did mention these “unspeakables” in public, it was not uncommon for us to be silenced and told that if management found out, we could be fired. It grew wearying after a while, and I felt dehumanized after working there for four months. I was told that it was a great honor to work at that ministry, yet I felt totally dishonored as a person.

Shortly before my wife left KCM, it imposed a gag order. In a rather stridently written memo, management said that employees were not to talk to anyone, including family members, because they never knew who they would be talking to. That person could be a news reporter. I should think that an employee would know if his or her spouse or child is a reporter! This memo did nothing to help build marriages and strong families. Instead, if taken literally, it would build suspicion, distrust and paranoia within the families of employees. I’m sorry, but to me, this is Shepherding; management by fear and coercion, putting loyalty to the church above loyalty to family.

Parties are meant to be fun, to be celebrations of accomplishment, a holiday season, or just for the heck of it. But it is difficult to celebrate when your invitation to the party pretty much says “you are required to attend, required to have fun, and if you don’t, you will be fired.” While not putting it in exactly those terms, we knew that when the ministry invited its employees to a party, that if we valued our jobs, we should go. This is not just a rhetorical reading of the memo, either. Another friend of mine who worked at that ministry, decided to not attend the Christmas party one year. They were serving barbeque beef, something he doesn’t care for, so he went off site for a sandwich. When he returned, he was hauled into his supervisor’s office, given a written reprimand, and told me that the only reason he wasn’t fired was that he was too good at his job. His supervisor told him that when the ministry invites you to a party, it is a high honor and privilege so he better go!

Invitations to special conventions and teaching engagements were treated the same way. Like it or not, we knew we had to go, or lose our jobs.

That kind of action did nothing to enhance our spirituality or walk with God. If anything, that kind of action tore it down.

I was a licensed Word of Faith minister for several years, and during that time I had a friend who was a pastor at EMIC. At one time, we were very close. But when I became a minister, things changed. He began to take it upon himself to mentor me, without my permission. At the time, I had a ministry to Goths, and he would tell me to teach prosperity to the Goths, tell them to stop wearing black, tell them to stop reading poetry, and go get jobs in the corporate world. I was trying to reconcile Goths to Jesus; if I had done what he said, I would have alienated them further. When I didn’t do what he said, he called me rebellious. Uh … I was licensed by a totally different church, so he was not part of my ecclesiastical chain of command, so how could I be rebelling? When I found out that KCM/EMIC was merged with Shepherding, I saw his actions for what they were – part of the theological platform that made up his job.

I left KCM as part of a massive layoff in 2004. My wife was fired in late 2007 … for posting a photo of her Halloween costume online. Before you go and scream at us for celebrating Halloween, I have to point out that she and I are old theatre people and take any opportunity to put on costumes. To us, it’s a reason to “dress up.” If we could do it in April and July, we would. We weren’t engaging in any sorcery or fright fests. Yet, a Halloween costume photo, on my wife’s personal blog, was a reason for this ministry to fire her. They were actually looking for a reason to fire her; her opposition to the Prosperity Gospel was becoming well known. My wife did something that was against the written and spoken doctrines of the church. Shepherding allows no independent thought or feelings by congregation members.

As soon as my wife was fired, I began to be stalked on my Xanga blog by employees of KCM. As many as 50 anonymous “footprints” (ISP addresses) would appear on my blog daily. Through Xanga’s footprint tracking system, I could easily tell that they originiated inside KCM. This lasted from mid-October, 2007 until early 2008. I guess they grew weary of me after I made my blog private. Stalking of ex-members is a Shepherding technique. I was perceived as a threat and had to be monitored.

Six friends left me. Two were very close, and I considered them to be two of my best friends. These friends left me, not just because of a theological dispute, but because they chose loyalty to the doctrines of men and to EMIC over loyalty to a human being. This was shunning in action.

The day after my wife was fired, several of our friends who worked at KCM at the time were hauled into their superiors’ offices and grilled about their connection with my wife and me. They were told that KCM had checked out their background thoroughly … one can only ponder what THAT meant! Most were given a “clean bill of health.” Two of these friends had restrictions placed on them by the pastors of EMIC, preventing them from having any future contact with us. I did not hear what the consequences would be if they ever ran into us in Wal-Mart. Shepherdists dare to tread only where our mothers did … in believing that they have the right to tell people who their friends will be. Some people are gullible enough to believe they have to obey.

Since our departure from KCM and the Word of Faith, we have found out more about Kenneth Copeland and his true nature. The way he is behaving is so much like a Shepherding preacher, or a cult leader, that I can’t tell the difference.

First, Senator Grassley launched an investigation into six televangelists. I’ve read the questions Grassley sent them. The questions to Copeland are the most extensive and the most damning. To read them yourself, click here. Why did Copeland use a church owned airplane to fly to Colorado on a vacation? Why is there a for-profit cattle company operating on ministry land? What happened to the funds donated for investment in the Revival Capital of the World theme park, which shows no signs of being built? These are legitimate questions, and Grassley would not be investigating if there were not some evidence of wrong doing by Copeland. Did Copeland answer Grassley? No. He refused. What he sent as an answer to the Senator was a mere pie chart, their IRS statement, and the address to the IRS. In other words, KCM gives the appareance of having much to hide. If they had nothing to hide, then why not tell all to the Senator? Maybe that’s why KCM erected a wrought iron fence, complete with lockable gates, around the ministry property … to keep IRS and ATF agents out. They place does look more and more like the Branch Davidian compound.

Following an impromptu interview by a local reporter, Copeland attended what was supposed to be the dedication ceremony for KCM’s new Partner Services Building. Instead of reading the Bible or praying, Copeland spent half an hour blasting the reporter and calling him names. Gloria Copeland had to publicly remind him that he was there to pray for the building.

Two friends of mine, who are also ex-KCM employees, and now ex Word of Faith, agreed to be interviewed for a news broadcast in which they pretty much called Copeland a liar. The day after the local news broadcast (to read the transcript, click here; to see the actual broadcast, click here), which was also two days after Senator Grassley launched his investigation into KCM, Copeland convened a “chapel,” which is more of a business propaganda meeting than any spiritual event. During the “chapel,” Terri Pearsons called Grassley, the local news reporter, and my two friends, Nazis and possessed of the anti-christ. Her rant was published on the KCM website, and everyone that I know who saw it all said the same thing; “She’s demon possessed!” The hatred and terror at someone catching her father’s hand in the cookie jar was palpable. To see her rant for yourself, click here.

In late November, Copeland had presidential candidate Mike Huckabee on the Believer’s Voice of Victory broadcast, giving a politician a week’s worth of free publicity. This is from a man who demands that Senator Grassley respect the separation of church and state, but is unwilling to recognize that same separation where an Evangelical candidate is concerned. That was just blatant hypocrisy. To see them for yourself, click here. You won’t have to scroll down very far. The dates are November 26 – 30, 2007.

It gets better!

Copeland revealed his true colors at his Ministers Conference, held January 22 through 24, 2008, at EMIC. He didn’t appear as a Shepherdist, but he did use the U.S. Constitution as toilet paper.

First, he turned the conference into a fund raiser for Huckabee. It was supposed to be a conference for ministers and by ministers. Instead, he turned it into a political platform, raising $111,000 in cash for Huckabee, and a million dollars in pledges. Oh, sure, the KCM spin doctors are saying Copeland did everything right. They say that Copeland never endorsed Huckabee, and that he dismissed the conference (early), and said that if anyone wanted to come back, they could. So, it was a private meeting. They also say that Copeland rented a room at EMIC to Huckabee, and that the fundraising happened there. The KCM spin masters say that EMIC has a tradition of renting rooms to ministers at the conference. Well … my wife was responsible for the Ministers Conference from 2004 through 2007, and began to set up for 2008. She told me that at no time did Copeland, KCM or EMIC rent rooms to anyone, especially during the Ministers Conference. The conference is tightly controlled, and KCM does not want a lesser known party trying to sell books behind the scenes. So, the publicly stated habit of renting rooms is a bold faced lie! This is total political pandering, using a religious meeting to garner money for a political candidate, and a violation of the U.S. Constitution. If this fund raising had happened in a hotel room after the conference, there would be no problem. But it happened inside a church, during the dates set for a ministers’ conference. That is a total violation of the separation of church and state. To read one news article on this, click here.

As if that wasn’t enough, during the Ministers’ Conference, Copeland declared war on the U.S. Senate. First, he said that his reply to Senator Grassley was “a six page lesson in ‘no!’,” meaning Copeland didn’t reply to Grassley’s request for information. Copeland said that the ministry’s finances belonged to God and that Grassley had no business looking at them. Furthermore, Copeland said that he could tell Grassley the truth, but wouldn’t, because Grassley didn’t know the truth. Finally, Copeland dared Grassley to subpoena him, throw him in jail, or execute him. That is sheer arrogance, and total hypocrisy from a man who for decades has preached patriotism and obedience to Romans 13:1-7. The website, Wittenburgdoor.com, has posted clips from Copeland’s rant. To see them for yourself, click here.

Now, CBS Evening News thinks Copeland has gone too far and has accused him of fraud, finding two more ex-employees who spoke out about their former boss. To see CBS’ video, click here.

So … Kenneth Copeland. Preacher of the Gospel, or Shepherdist madman? You decide.

Some of you may not like what I said about Copeland. You know what? I don’t care! What I wrote is the truth. I suffered much abuse from the hands of this man, and I owe it to Jesus to expose the apostasy in KCM. I do not want revenge, but like any rape victim, I do want to see justice and see the rapist go to prison. So does God.

You have to decide what the truth is for yourself. If you can continue to follow Kenneth Copeland with a clear conscience, then please do so. But I cannot. My conscience demands that I stand up, say something, and oppose what I see as a Gnostic-Shepherding preacher who is leading many sheep into destruction.”

  1. And I agree with the author 100 percent. I’ve wanted to see these people in prison since August of 2002. They’re really good at stalking. Nothing but paid trashy thugs.

  2. George Pearsons is a pastor at Eagle Mountain International Church, an arm of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, in Newark, Texas. Pearsons is married to Terri Pearsons who is Copeland’s oldest daughter.[1] He was the chairman of the Oral Roberts University Board of regents and his father-in-law was also a board member.[2] and released statements regarding the ongoing ORU scandal.[3]

In 2008 Pearsons stepped down from the ORU Board, but was added as a defendant to the lawsuit by Tim Brooker and Paulita Brooker. Along with others who resigned from the Board of ORU, including Lindsay Roberts, Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, I.V. Hilliard and Benny Hinn. [4]

    from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Pearsons

When George Pearsons accepted the position of chairman of the ORU regents in May, he said in an address to the board: “I am standing here today because the Lord clearly spoke to me and said, ‘Do whatever Richard Roberts asks you to do,’” according to a copy of the address.

Pearsons is the son-in-law of Kenneth Copeland, a televangelist and ORU regent. Pearsons said in the address that the “covenant” between the Roberts and Copeland families also contributed to his decision to accept the chairman position. He said the “families are forever connected.”

Holding the Roberts in such high regard is typical of many ORU regents, particularly the other ministers and televangelists serving on the board, the president of a religious watchdog group said. “They all, in essence, pay obeisance to Oral. They all almost bow down in Oral’s presence,” said Ole Anthony, president and co-founder of Trinity Foundation, which has investigated religious organizations, including ORU, for decades.

    http://newsok.com/article/3170076/1195261720

Anthony suggested that the Roberts family and the evangelicals serving as regents should share equal blame for the university’s troubles. “They could use a good dose of new blood,” Anthony said. “It just needs to be run with more academic integrity and financial responsibility. … I’m pleased that all the students and the faculty are trying to get their university back.” … At universities such as ORU, where the founders continue to maintain control, Lederman said “there tends not to be push-back.”

“There’s not a lot of controversy either because it’s quashed, or because people come there knowing what they’re getting into. If you have a chance to peel back the layers, you may find that there’s dissatisfaction, but it rarely comes out.”

  3. I watched that video of Terri Pearsons and her rant. How can she use the Holocaust and the Jewish victims of WW II???? I am from Holland and many Jewish people from our country were killed by the Nazi’s. It was terrible and it is a disgrace to use it the way Terri does here in the video. She should be very ashamed!!!! She should apologize!

If Corrie ten Boom was still alive (the famous Dutch evangelist who survived the concentration camps), I think she would be hurt by this video. And many Jewish people who survived the Holocoust too.

By the way: watch the face of Terri… terrible!

  4. I’ve watched one of the links which was given in this article. There I saw Terri Pearsons having a speech against everyone who refute them. I was shocked at her tone, at her gestures and especially about her remark that everyone who is against them, is against Jesus Christ personally. That is manipulation and propaganda extraordinare. So, the Copelands consider themselves even more favorable and higher then every hero of the Bible. This is sick and frightening. Thank God that they are only involved with religion and not with politics. Because if they would rule the USA or every random country, that place would definately be a huge BIG BROTHER STATE.

  5. This man and all of the prosperity teachers, are dangerous.
They only teach how to love money and obey pastors as if the pastor is God himself. The do not teach love, repentance, modesty, forgivness, and mainy this,,, MAN SHOULD OBEY GOD AND NOT ANOTHER MAN.
My family and I was caught up in a church just like this. The pastor was a mean, cult like leader and we were brainwashed for three to four years. But God opened our eyes and pulled us out of that Eygpt. Hallelu Yah.
May God open the eyes of his true children in this bondage, before it is too late.

  6. Tom: Thank you for confirming what I could see between the lines in this ministry. I come back to it time and again that all these ministries are identical to secular businesses and the pastor is COE and calls the shots right down the line. Take FORDS’, in it’s beginnings, the employee was visited at home to see if he was living a clean, moral life and had to drive a Ford car or he’d be fired. Management in addition to the above had to dress according to code and live in an approved area of the city. He had to be the right colour and associate with the right people. (approved by Henry Ford) (the man who looked up to Hitler and vise versa) Of course they call this grooming for higher positions and yes you have to act most of the time. “Fake it until it’s real” is the motto. The brain washing goes on until you can’t remember who you really were and maybe that family you grew up with really isn’t as good as you. It’s time to forget where you came from. Quite frankly, I always saw Kenneth Copeland as grossly immature, controlled by his wife and figures the whole world owes him a living. Infant Terrible!!!!

  8. I don’t think the stalking of ex-members is so much about spiritual control, but they want to make sure anyone who leaves their ministry doesn’t have any information/evidence that can help land the Copeland Family (like the mafia) in jail.

  11. Thank you for your story. I have struggled between feeling I have learned somewhat good things through “word of faith” and KCM and then again seeing and reading between the lines of it all and things just NOT ADDING UP right! I have been wanting to KNOW THE REAL TRUTH for some time now, really not trusting in Miriam Franklin for it and fighting her version. But you seem quite credible, I can’t help but listen.

  13. Charlie – I think you missed the point brother.

Canadanorth – what you say reminds me what I was told about 20 years ago when I entered the workforce. I was told by my supervisor, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”. My response was, “The job I want requires Armani suites, but what I’m being paid will only cover clothes from the rescue mission. What should I do?”

Kenneth Copelin is an arrogant liar, this is just more proof. The “holier than thou” attitude he exudes is stomach turning.

  14. Pastor,

I am interested in knowing more about your proof on Shepparding at EMCI.

Could you please send me audio or video links to support your article. If this is true then proof should be shown.

Please let me hear from you.

    Comment by Gregg | December 16, 2008

  15. Gregg,

Testimony is proof. There are many, many court cases in which the only evidence is testimony from witnesses. I don’t believe this pastor is so evil and has such a vivid imagination that he made everything up.

By the way, everything the Copelands tell you is their FALSE testimony.

  16. Kenneth and Gloria Copeland are Frauds and charlatans…. they should be treated the same as any other criminal who takes advantage of the weak/elderly/young in our society… and punished accordingly …. if that means a capital penalty( as Kenneth Mockingly suggested) then so be it

Dear Carolina, The sad part is most of the pastors I have known whether fundamentalist, charistmatic or pentecostals were very arrogant and belligerent and believed that they had all the answers and knew all things for one reason or another including their education or training! And some of them have been close friends of mine but 1COR 8:1 tells us Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

  18. Read the Bible and think for yourselves folks. I enjoy watching several “TV” services. KCM, JD, TDJ, JM…etc..

The more view points you can gather the better it should help you clarify what YOU think/feel/believe a Christian life/faith should look like.

Look for their msg… hold it up to the Bible and your faith and take what seems to fit and leave it at that. God is more than capable of personalizing a faith journey for each and every one of us. I think it’s OK to be different…. to some extent. It all starts with Jesus… and he teaches us God is LOVE… if we believe and confess, then God is in us and we are in God…. Where is the LOVE?

Not sure running down KCM or any other ministry is in our best interests.

    I’m almost certain vengeance is God’s ;)

  19. Not sure running down KCM or any other ministry is in our best interests. Clint

Assuming what Clint says is true why does the word of God clearly state to all about exposing the sons of disobedience?

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
    5:3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
5:4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
5:5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
5:7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.
5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
5:10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
    5:14 Therefore He says:

    “Awake, you who sleep,
    Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

5:15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
5:16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

  20. Clint, you’re missing the point entirely. Nobody is “running down” anybody. The truth about the wolves fleecing the sheep is being revealed. Get over your idol worship of the Copelands and others like them who are false, liars, and thieves, using the money donated to them to live a lavish lifestyle. They are not even preaching the true Gospel. Enough is enough! “Herein is LOVE, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” I don’t see the Copelands even attempting to follow that example by risking their lives and rich living for sinners or saints. They just take, take, take and lie about it. Enough.

  21. This is fun…you guys clearly missed my point…..

How many people has KCM brought to Christ? hundreds of thousands?

Are all those commitments void because YOU decided KCM is a fraud? Once we receive Christ we are in God’s Kingdom… and even KCM can’t mess that up.

Why is it that we have so many denominations of Christianity? Why is it we have all different styles/varieties of preaching/worship/fellowship?

We are all different…. God will use what ever He wants to use however He wants to use it to reach people for Christ.

God even used a serpent in a Garden so that we would ALL eventually be Saved through the blood of the Lamb.

I could list scripture from here till eternity (like some do ;) ) to make my point…. but it would be my point.. my view of my faith. Just like you have your view of what is right/wrong…good/bad.

I trust when KCM needs to be rebuked/convicted/enlightened…etc… God will do it and KCM will hear it. We are all on a seperate journey, at different levels of maturity in Christ. God will use all things for Good…even “sons of disobedience”… yes? Just seems that our time hear on earth would be better spent building up the body of Christ not butting heads with each other.

If you don’t like KCM or any particular ministry then I think that is OK … probably OK by KCM…. and I sure God is fine with it too. Lord knows there are a enough “ministries” to choose from.

God is my King… I worship God… no man shall come between me and my God…. Listen for a message from any preacher and don’t waste time worrying about the man. It’s the message of Jesus Christ that is important… we are all sinners even KCM… even you fine folks on here that are “exposing the sons of disobedience”… I’m sure God is thankful for your help in bringing his attention to KCM.

It’s complete. It was finished before any of us were even born. Why spend our time on a crusade to “expose” KCM? God knows all… yes? God can handle KCM….

Why not start a blog that talks about your faith, about Jesus Christ, and what is good about your view ministry/Christianity etc… bring people to Christ with a positive word and a good attitude? Why all the animosity? If you don’t like KCM then move on and enjoy the Blessing of Jesus Christ and leave it at that… seems simple enough.

The fact that everyone posting here seems to care about the Kingdom of God is a good thing… safe to say we all don’t agree, and I think that is just fine with God.

    Shalom…

  22. A proper goodbye is very much in order…

I love the enthusiasm, I wish more people were this motivated by their relationship with Christ…. enjoy your journey.

    Peace….

  23. Clint,
After reading your posts I have become extremely encouraged by your enthiusiasm for truth. You stated

“How many people has KCM brought to Christ? hundreds of thousands?
Are all those commitments void because YOU decided KCM is a fraud? Once we receive Christ we are in God’s Kingdom… and even KCM can’t mess that up.”

Well these are not all conversions due to the fact that that Kenneth Copeland does not even preach the true gospel. He preaches something called easy believism. This basically works like this. “How many people want to go to heaven.” People raise their hands. Then they ask people to pray a prayer and then kenneth copeland simply declares that they are now saved because they repeated this “magically prayer”.
This is basic heresy that the American church is preaching, which is found no where in scripture.
They base this on Romans 10 but this is not what that scripture states.
Peter said repent and believe, Jesus said you must repent and believe, Paul said repent and believe.
I only hear the repeat this prayer.

I do not expect you to believe any of this or even research it for yourself. Most people who follow these people defend them all the way to hell.
I followed him and ministered with these kinds of people for 7 years until the Holy Spirit taught me the truth.
If you ask God to lead you into truth in His word and break you no matter the cost, then you will fall away from following these men and their teachings and dive into the word for yourself.

Don’t take my word for it study it yourself.
Giving in the bible never went to the apostles it actually went to the poor saints in Jersusalem. 30,60,100 fold was nothing about giving money but return on the word. Jesus never preached about money. Study the Gospel in the context of which it was written and you will find that out.

    Comment by Thomas | January 8, 2009

  24. @Clint, and how many of those people who were brought to Christ are real disciples now of Jesus? (and not money and properity)…

    Comment by Ruitje | January 8, 2009

  25. Good for you Clint. I like your enthusiasm too, for judging others, while telling them not to judge. If you had read more topics on this blog, you would see Jesus being admired, worshipped and lifted up and all of the good things of Faith being talked about.

No one here is thinking they are helping God take note of false preachers.(Your sarcasm has been acknowledged). We’re not so dumb as to think we need to point out anything to God. The ones who need warning are the gullible sheep, one of which I used to be. If God can speak his words, even through “the sons of disobedience”(which you admit that the Copelands are)then He can also WARN THE CHURCH through the words of true believers about the dangers of being involved with false teachers and doctrine. It’s not just a happy-go-lucky circus we are in. People’s eternal lives are at stake and sometimes their lives or livlihoods, here on this earth. If not for this site and others like it, I would still be wasting my God-given time and money and spriritual well-being, my life, on the Copelands and false teachers/”prophets” like them.

So, yeah, you enjoy your journey too. Just be careful where it leads you.

    LOVE,PEACE,BLESSING-

  26. I trust when KCM needs to be rebuked/convicted/enlightened…etc… God will do it and KCM will hear it – Clint

Now if God does everything what does he need men like Kenneth Copeland to preach the gospel? And why did Apostle Paul the junior rebuke the Senior Apostle Peter instead of waiting for God to do it?

    Galatians 2:11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;
2:12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
2:13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
2:14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

Passing the buck that “I am trusting God to do something” is a very lame excuse made by cowards and fearful ones which Jesus and Paul were not! It is a fact that just like God uses men to preach the gospel He also use true men of God rebuke others and to tell them to repent or else they will be in hell:

MT 18:7 “Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
18:8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
18:9 “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

  27. WOW ya’ll….I can only say WOW…..

I pray everyone is cultivating their relationship with “The Greatest Leader” as much as you are giving attention to this arena.

By the way, how does any of this help with the Gospel message?
How does this help you individually?

The coolest thing I love about Jesus, he gave attention to the issues that mattered, kept his eyes on the Father (thruth) and focused individuals to look at themselves.
God sees everything else and tends to it.
Have yet to find where he asked for my assistance, He only asked for me to believe and live my life to glorify Him so others would believe.
Questioning motives of the heart and how it plays out…..time waster.

First time I ever submitted a comment…probably the last.

Just for once wanted to speak out that there is so much to to learn from Christ individually, focusing on that will help all peps see with His eyes. What a concept!!

Nothing but greatness to all who read!! Take Care..

  28. There is no question that KCM is of God and the anointing on his teachings is quite evident. The anointing removes burdens and destroys yokes, and his teachings are clearly anointed. This author clearly conveys his level of spiritual discernment when he defends his celebration and partaking in Halloween. Need say no more.
I am not a member of EMIC and have never worked for KCM, don’t even live in the same state. But it is very sad when Christians who are so ignorant of the Word do damage to other brothers and sisters in Christ simply because they do not know the Word. No, there is nothing wrong with comic books and science fiction, but if you are going to take a spiritual stand for or against anything or anyone, you better be living, breathing, eating, sleeping and seeking God in the midnight hour before you open your mouth. Because if you knew the Word, you would know that words can bless and words can curse, and the latter spoken out of your mouth can attack your own life. Blessing your enemies also means “speak well of” your enemies.
I can clearly see the biggest problem here, and it’s not KCM.

  29. Dear Folks:

I don’t know who you are but keep up the good work exposing these false prophets, preachers and teachers. To me, Kenneth Copeland is the worst of the worst. He teaches he is a god; that Jesus death on the cross was nothing thus making the precious blood of Christ invalid in our salvation; that Jesus went to literal burning hell; that He was the first born-again man; that God has no authority on earth and the list goes on and on. People who support him had better wake up. The Bible says that if anyone comes to you preaching any other Gospel than this, let him be accursed. I would hate to be in Copeland’s shoes when he dies.

  30. Before all of you self righteous types bash us for speaking the truth lets just say I was a believer of this group and used to go to Creflo Dollars “church” at Madison Square Garden in NYC and got close up look at what him and all these “False” preachers are all about.

In as much love as I can muster, these people are frauds. Do you know what a false preacher is? Someone who preaches the gospel for MONEY. As a fellow “Partner” just what do you get out of this partnership? The Word of God? Copeland doesn’t own it. The “anointing” of a ministry?
I think they’re called “Nicolaitanes”in the book of Revelation, and Jesus says he hates them, they’re the ones in plain English that make us believe they have access to God that we don’t. God help them.

  31. In 2001 my husband was given 2months to a year to live (cancer). I partnered with the faith, healing, prosperity ministries and received a steady stream of literature, books and tapes. I can honestly say that I benefited from this daily transfusion of faith and strength to keep going and focus on my husband’s healing. My husband believed that you have to want to get better more than anything to make it. He’s still here and cuts all the winter wood with an ax himself, minus most of his esophegus, all his stomach and spleen. I’m a little like Clint, I took the meat and left the bones. All of us at some point have to fight against death and that’s what separates the men from the boys. This is where God carries you as long as you stay close. You are on another plane than the people around you who go about their daily lives. I expect Corrie Ten Boom walked that plane daily in the concentration camp. I believe God gives you what you need from different sources for a time; you are not meant to stay there indefinately. Because I got strength from these ministries doesn’t mean I believed everything they held as truth or dogged loyalty was healthy; it isn’t. The Copeland’s are in the ministry business, a family owned business so they view all employees and partners as family so they expect loyalty of body, mind and spirit. I am totally opposed to that!!!

There is no person or ministry that is perfect and God uses all things even people like Copeland. One of the problems of people is they are a mixture of right and wrong theology, thinking and ways and that is why we need to trust God will all our hearts and not to lean to our own understanding!

Please do not flame me as I am totally confused by various pastors, churches etc.

    Comment by Joh | May 7, 2009

  38. Bird, I totally empathize and sympathize with you.

I too was blinded by the pentecostal false teaching.

    The kenneth copeland/hagin/asuza street crap.

Here is what you MUST do.

Go through the gospels and learn the true Gospel from the Master Himself.

    In John
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1:3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
1:4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
1:5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe.
1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
1:9 That was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into the world.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
1:11 He came unto Hown, and His own received Him not.
1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:
1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus stated HE is the ONLY way or portal to God.

14:5 Thomas said to Him, Lord, we know not where You are going, and how can we know the way?
14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me.

    In Matthew
7:13 Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there be that find it.
7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
7:26 And every one that hears these sayings of Mine, and doesn’t do them, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall.”

Have to follow Christ is all.

I was watching God TV one fateful morning in Feb to see KC preaching on his little program behind his little table. I was so repulsed by his blatant lies and the ‘I am like Christ’ preaching I actually had to change the channel.

A few days prior I lost my remote control in my 3 seater couch – it slid down the side through a gap. I had to turn my couch over to get it out so I could change the channel. Now that just goes to show how bad it was. I turned my couch upside down! Yeah I could have just gone upto the tv and changed the channel..but that’s not the point lol.
