Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God’s word

John G Lake: Exploits and Exploitation

John G Lake is a favourite ‘icon’ within many sectors of today’s church, up ‘there’ with the likes of Smith Wigglesworth. I recall tales about his alleged exciting exploits with and for God were frequently preached on at Toronto Blessing meetings, and a book of his collective teachings and sermons published and distributed by Kenneth Copeland Ministries was looked upon in certain circles in very high regard.

I remember reading the book of John G Lake sermons back in 1995 - I was given it by a friend – and was even then, at a time that I tolerated a lot of error, was even blinded to it, was somewhat troubled about the spiritualistic encounters and the odd dominionist teaching in the book - but typically, I put the issues and the book aside and thought it must be just me who had the problem, seeing as so many well-known and well-respected ‘Christian’ folks throught his stuff spiritual dynamite! [I was then yet to wake up and smell the charismatic coffee.]

Anyway, I found the following article about John G Lake from here.

“There has been a great deal of renewed interest in John G Lake in recent years, particularly in the Northwest.  Curry Blake operates Lake’s official on-line ministry and claims to be the fulfillment of a prophecy supposedly given to Lake about someone to come and renew Lake’s ministry.  He also operates healing rooms similar to Lake’s.  (It should be noted that the concept of healing rooms is completely different from the ministry of Jesus who healed instantly with a command or a touch.  Jesus never established rooms for people to receive prayer day after day.  These were actually the brainchild of Alexander Dowie who was Lake’s mentor.) Cal Pierce claims that he is redigging the wells of John Lake to recover his spiritual inheritance.  Roberts Liardon includes a chapter on Lake in his book, “God’s Generals”.  And one of the most prominent figures in the prophetic movement, Mike Bickle, says that John G. Lake has influened him “more than any man other than Jesus.”  This is certainly high praise even if the statement is hyperbole.  The Complete Works of John G. Lake are available for purchase at IHOP.  (I got my copy at a used book store.)  As with Branham, it is evident that many who reference Lake have never actually read him nor have they taken even a cursory look at his history beyond the claims of the miraculous.

False Doctrine

Consider the following statements by John G. Lake.  (So that we don’t have the same accusations that followed my post on William Branham, I will document heavily.)

Little gods

”The power of God, the Holy Ghost, is the Spirit of Dominion.  It makes one a god.” (John G. Lake, His Life, His Sermons, His Boldness of Faith,  published by Kenneth Copeland Ministries, page 13)

“I want you to hear what Jesus said about himself.  God was in Christ, wasn’t He?  An incarnation.  God is in you, an incarnation, if you were born again.  You are incarnate“  (Ibid. page 196)

“God’s purpose through Jesus Christ is to deify the nature of men” (Ibid page 304)

 Dominion Theology

“Beloved, God is calling men and women to a holier consecration, to a higher place in God, and I am one of God’s candidates for that holy place in God.  I want to get to the throne of God….And that is the experience that is going to make the sons of God in the world.  That is the reason they will take the world for Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom will be established, and they will  put the crown on the Son of God, and declare him, ‘King of kings and Lord of lords”. (Ibid page 510)

I could give more examples here.

 Communication with the Dead

Lake taught that there was nothing wrong with communicating with the dead as long as you didn’t call them up from hell.  It was ok to call them down from heaven.

“Listen it is not dragging spirits up, and it isn’t dragging some spirits down.  There is nothing about calling spirits down from God in the Word; only about calling them up from the depths.” (Ibid page 122)

Lake gives an account of his deceased wife speaking to him through a woman who had come for healing for a bad eye. (Today we call this “channeling”)

He says the Spirit came over this woman and then says the following:

“She arose from her chair, her eyes quite shut, and came in my direction.  I got up and moved my chair.  She walked right around and came to me.  She slipped her fingers down, gave me a little chuck just like my late wife wouild have done, and said, ‘Jack, my Jack, God is with you all the time.  Go right on.  But my baby, my Teddy, I am so lonesome for him, but you pray so hard, you pray so hard.” (Ibid 133)

Lake believed this was his late wife speaking to him.

Lake gives other accounts of spiritism and spirit travel in the same book.

More Strange Doctrine

Lake taught that you could receive sin impulses from other people if they laid hands on you. (Ibid page 404)

God doesn’t appreciate disabled people.  “Do you know when my legs straightened out it taught me the beginning of one of the deepest lessons that ever came in my life.  It taught me God did not appreciate a man with crooked legs any more than He does with a crooked soul.“  (Ibid page 124)

He later taught that Christians should not be the subject of healing.

He claimed to be able to diagnose disease by laying his hands on someone.  (This becomes very interesting when one considers that he was fooled by a child, Teresa Luther who claimed to be deaf.  He claimed to have healed her and did not realize that she was faking.)

Fraud

John Lake was a documented fraud.  His personal ethics are extremely suspect.

According to the 7/24/21 issue of the Oregonian and subsequent issues.  John Lake was arrested, charged, and forced to settle out of court for a blue sky scam in which he promised members of his congregation stock in a mining company if they paid their tithes in a lump sum.  The stock was never delivered.

Nov. 21, 1933 Lake advertised the appearance of an Arab healer, Abdul Ben Shinandar in the Oregonian.  On Nov. 25 the same paper uncovered that the Arab healer was actually Lake dressed in costume.

August 25, 1921 Lake was arrested and had to post $100 bond for impersonating a police officer.

The May 24, 1920 issue of the Oregonian and subsequent issues chronicle the arrest of John G. Lake after the death of Hanna Anderson who died of neglect when attempts to heal her of the flu failed.  Not only did Lake not heal her but he also failed to report the illness to the CDC which was required by law at the time.  He was found guilty of laxity and fined.

Inability to Heal

The Hanna Anderson story is not the only example to show that Lakes claims of tremendous healing power were exaggerated.  Consider the following headlines.

“Miracles Not Seen”- The Morning Oregonian, May 24, 1920

“X-Ray Belies Healing”- Oregonian 11/27/21.  This particular story is of a 7 year old girl with a severely fractured  thigh whose parents denied her proper medical care and took her to Lake instead.  Lake pronounced her healed, however when the girl still didn’t recover she was finally taken to physicians and the fracture was discovered.  Doctors indicate that she would have been crippled for life had she not received proper treatment.

“Grandma says girl made to Hear Wasn’t Deaf”- Spokane Press 7/16/24 (This article does have a story of another woman who claimed to be healed and able to walk.  There is also an interesting account in the same story of a woman who was “healed” by Lake 5 times but the “pain keeps coming back.”)

“Miracles Fail, Imp of Tragedy Stalks in Tent” Spokane Press 7/23/24

The reason John Lake became so popular is that, like Benny Hinn and others today, he had a very active PR machine.  Many of the positive articles that appear about him were written by him.  The reality is that he is long on claims and short on documentation.

Once again reality fails to match the hype.  Lake was a man of false doctrine and poor personal ethics.  He is no one to emulate.

I readily acknowledge that most of the teachers who praise him have probably never read the newspaper stories that document his fraud, however his false doctrine should have been evident as they read his works and sermons.  The fact that his messages continue to influence modern prophetic teachers and their followers is frightening.”

  1. Good information, Miriam!!!

Coming out of group affiliated with Bethel Church, you’d think that John G. Lake was something else. I’ve head a bunch of Cal Pierce tapes, and he had nothing but good things to say about Lake. Bill Johnson actually owns John G. Lake’s Bible (and read verses out of it one Sunday) [what idolatry].

  2. Read verses out of it?! What were they different verses than anyone else’s bible? I guess Bill Johnson would claim Lake’s bible is more anointed and people would swoon more at the words read from it though…. modern Christian relics and idolotry!

I have a signed copy of a book by Samuel Zwemer [missionary to Islam and theologian] which I treasure because I greatly respect Zwemer, his pioneering spirit and what he did for missions to the Islamic world early last century – but I do not idolise the book or Zwemer, nor do I think the actual copy is anointed as Zwemer touched it, nor do I agree on everything he says either….

If you have time, would love any more info on Cal Pierce or Bill Johnson.

  3. Miriam:

Bill Johnson had purchased a lot of “Revival relics” and has plans to set up a museum somewhere on the 72 acre Bethel property. If I remember right, it included John G. Lake’s Bible, Kathryn Kuhlman’s wedding dress, loads of A.A. Allen films and some other stuff. It’s been so long since I even though about the subject, that I can’t remember much more.

Our Church had a fairly extensive tape (and CD) library of Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton (Bethel’s Senior Associate pastor), with a few from Danny Silk (Family Life pastor at Bethel) and Cal Pierce. I also have some stuff from Georgian and Winnie Bannov (I don’t dare even call them “sermons,” more like drunk babbling), as well as my dad’s stack of tapes from Torono (’95 era: John Arnott, Mike Bickle, Mahesh Chavda, etc…).

All of the tapes have been converted to mp3, same with the CDs.

In addition to tapes & CDs, I have roughly two years of the Bethel Sermon of the Week podcast, including one by Todd Bentley going into grotesque detail about his “dark night of the soul” experience.

I’d be glad to a copy to anybody wanting to write up commentary on them, but I’m not sure of a good method to do so (Miram: if your interested, please contact me personally)

  5. Hi,

I have been reading on and off on this website.. although sometimes good things are buried beneath the rubble, I am wondering if in your regard there are any christians who walk in the power of the Holy Spirit?

I guess you could find lots of things wrong with the theology of Smith Wigglesworth, George Fox, …. too.

It saddens me to see that the continual focus of this website is to tear down and not build up. Are the greater works that Christ spoke of following you? Are you laying your hands on the sick and seeing them recover?

Curry Blake has this saying: “If your knowlegde of the word of God exceeds your obedience to the word, you are a backslider”… That could apply to the most of the Western church… Shouldn’t we just start looking at the logs in our own eyes and begin starting to do the works of Christs ourselves, instead of just critisizing those who are stepping out?

    In love,
    Fernando

  6. I ask this in all honesty and seeking truth…….

Is there any “mans” sermons, work as a minister, prophet, teacher, evangelist, alive or dead recorded that a person seeking truth can read along with their Bible and get the truth? I can find none…..
    No not one!
Even Billy Graham who I used to think was a “true man of God’ was a mason I later learned.

Do we dis-regard all his life’s work? The Bible talks about a little leaven? Someone tell me, I really don’t know! (I keep thinking the Bible didn’t mean it is o.k. for Billy Graham to have a little leaven, but no one else??? It meant everyone!)

Is there nothing to read as a campanion to the Holy Bible that is true?

  10. So when is Todd Bentley going to repent? How about never because he is a reprobate and a false prophet!

    Comment by brad | December 16, 2008

  11. Well the next obvious question is the current director Curry Blake a fraud? I am intrigued by this “dominist” theory going around. I am not talking about taking the world over as the NAR people talk about, but are we not to take authority over a spirit when we are confronted to one, or are we to submit? I agree with Fernando. I see the sin in my life and the faults, and repent and through my “seeing through a glass darkly,” God will still use me, not because of me, but because of His love for people. it will be the general consensus that John Lake fabricated his entire life and never repented.

The next HUGE question is what are the ministries that walk in the power that God says we can? Many of us who follow this website are looking for the supernatural of God, not just the weirdo fuzzies of Toronto or Lakeland. Where are the legitimate ministries? Testing and finding false apostles to be liars (Rev 2:2) is good, but if the people are not then given an answer to where to turn (I bet I know the response I’ll get from this) then what progress can those people make? I have witnessed personally the damage the NAR theology can do, and then look to fellowship at a Church considered safe and listen to baloney like “the gifts are gone, no apostles, and then listen to them explain the power of the Holy Sprit away as demonic. I for one am not going to lay down and let the devil run over me so I guess I am a dominist. I have seen people healed and supernatural things and that will make me a fraud? Usually the Churches that I have observed that this has happened in usually end up in error because of a lack of discernment and covered sin, but the same goes for the more traditional Churches as well; lots of covered sin there as well, as little discernment. At least here in the area I live. I have listened to many teachers in the last twenty years and I do not agree with all of them and they do not agree with me. Even my pastor who walks in the gifts of the Spirit and has two giftings of the discerning of spirits, I do not agree on everything. But that does not mean she is a fraud. Having known her for a long time, I realize her heart toward God is pure, and my heart toward God is pure and the main thing I would disagree on (end time prophecy) is really not worth dividing over. It doesn’t make either of us a fraud. One of us is right and one of us is wrong, doctrinely, but it isn’t a slip into hell for it.

Now that it is established that Lake was a fraud, is everything he taught a fraud? I know people that are sincere in their beliefs, such as buddists, but they are sincerely wrong. Was John Lake sincere on any of his teachings? Is it all doctrines of demons? I admittingly have observed some intresting things go on with my pastor in the past, but does that put her as a demon possessed charlatan? Smith Wigglesworth was also been named a fraud, but I have gleaned knowledge from him as I have Dr. Charles Stanley, whe does not believe in the Gifts that I have watched in operation.

  13. Here is my experience with Cal Pierce that might be helpful in understanding the nature of his schemes. Back in 2006 Cal purchased an old floral warehouse next door to his Healing Rooms in Spokane, WA and proceeded to renovate it into their new House of Prayer center. The small non-denominational church I once attended was “chosen” to partner with the Healing Rooms and host Sundays in their new House of Prayer. They, of course, jumped at this because they never had their own building throughout their 20+ year history. I don’t blame them, who wouldn’t pass up the opportunity of such a grand undertaking as being apart of Cal Pierce’s ministry? (*cough*) Though I love them to death, I sorrow at how they have gradually been swept away into the vain grandeur of it all.

During a period of unemployment I volunteered as part of the renovation team that gradually transformed the old warehouse into a big hunk of posh. By the end of the construction they had a bookstore, a café, a huge carpeted and decked out sanctuary, and a huge expensive print of child prodigy Akiane’s ‘The Prince of Peace’ … not to mention a host of other gaudy decorations. I wasn’t so much bothered by how posh it looked, but more along the lines of how much money they spent to fully renovate the warehouse into a “House of Prayer” (huge air conditioning/heating units alone were insanely expensive). In my mind, all that’s needed for a house of prayer is a group of saints and a roof over their heads. But instead this guise of “House of Prayer” was used to build a money making/American attracting conference center for Cal Pierce’s ambitious visions. All this money could have gone to the poor and needy throughout the world, actual Kingdom work! But people somehow think that this House of Prayer is Kingdom work.

While I don’t know the exact total, and wouldn’t say it if I knew, my former church was expected to dish up a large down payment to be the host church. My former church was rather poor throughout the years, but a few affluent families within the church kept it going. And somehow, they were able to dish out this down payment, and then some. I thought this was ridiculous that people were paying deep out of their pockets for the overhead costs of Cal’s project – instead of for the needs of the church. It almost seemed like usury to expect a church to pay that much just to gain the status of being the host church in Cal’s House of Prayer. But I know that they weren’t the only ones, because somehow Cal was conjuring up the money for this immense project. And then I realized that the proceeds from Cal’s “Spiritual Hunger Conference” (hosted annually in Spokane) was a good source of revenue for this and other projects. They would rent the Spokane Conference Center, pack upwards of 8000+ people from all around the Pacific Northwest (all who paid a decent fee to get in), and then bring in big-name false prophets like Bill Johnson and the likes. The money they made from this conference was and is insane. The worst part was listening to people say each year, “this conference changed my life!” How? All they heard was heretical prosperity teachings combined with Bill Johnson’s heretical supernatural teachings. In the last conference everyone had to listen to a guy banter about how God was going to (hadn’t yet) make him a millionaire through his amateur photography business. If spiritual hunger involves being desperate enough to pay to listen to false prophets and prosperity clowns, then something is terribly wrong.

Anyway, as my former church was gradually swept away into this, they changed. Throughout their history, as far as I know of, they never preached the prosperity gospel. But the moment they partnered with Cal, they somehow now needed to start conjuring up the funds and so they became converted to the prosperity gospel. Each time tithe is taken, they recite a thick prosperity gospel prayer. And my former pastor does this silly line by saying that we are only now capable of praying the first part of this prayer, and that we aren’t even ready to ascend into the thicker parts of the prayer. I guess this means we have to be phased into the prosperity mindset? The thing is, I love my former church to death, and have nothing against them personally, but I really think they’ve been duped by Cal in a number of ways (and it’s impossible to tell them so). I recently went to one of their services, and they had a cameo appearance from Cal who preached a brief sermon on the “removal of our minds” (instead of the “renewal of our minds”). He literally claimed that renewal meant removal. Then he led everyone in a guided prayer of laying our hands on our head for the “removal of our minds”. I just about gagged right then and there. And then my former pastor got up and said there is no way he could top that. Yeah, no kidding! Cal wants us to remove our minds! Who can possible top that?

I don’t know what to think. There is so much more I could say about the gradual changes that have taken place in my former church, but I just can’t stand going there any longer and listening to the vanity and garbage of Cal’s ministry that has hijacked my former church. How many more good churches are falling to these wolves? How many people are removing their minds and just following along? Please Lord, would you please come now?

  17. How the Healing Rooms were founded.
I personally know a woman who reported to us that she had gone to Spokecane, Washington with Bill Johnson and a group of Christians.
They wanted to see John G. Lake’s home. Some of Lake’s relatives had bought his home and were restoring it. They refused to let these weird Christians inside. However, they were pulling up old lanoline and other things and throwing this stuff out for the trash. The Christians, like vultures, grabbed the Lake trash out of the garbage. She brought this rubbish to her home and made a collage cross and hung it over her bed.
After leaving Lake’s old home, Bill Johnson and his group went to the cemetery to visit his grave. This woman told us they all “rolled on the grave” to get Lake’s anointing.”
Then they went to the old building where he conducted his healings. To their amazement, the building was up for lease. She said, “A woman needed healing and they were in a back room. Suddenly, peace came into the room… A tall angel was in the room and healed her friend.
They got Bill Johnson and when he came into the room, he claimed on Sid Roth program that the angel spoke to him and said, “Where have you been….. I’ve been waiting for you to come for 80 years.”
Sid Roth asked him, “Could you see the angel?”
Bill Johnson admitted that he could not see the angel that he sensed his presence…. He then said, “He was about 10 or 11 feet tall.”
Johnson leased the John G. Lake building and thus we now having “Healing Rooms,’ around the nation.
The woman friend of mine told us that many then went to Kathryn Khulman’s grave and rolled on his grave to receive her anointing…. Then they went to Aimee Semple McPherson’s grave and Corrie Ten Boom.
You may also recall that Benny Hinn says that he has a key to Kathryn Khulmans grave and claims he gets anointing from there as well as … Semple McPherson’s grave.
Then along come Todd Bentley and as you know, he claimed this Lake angel was also actively healing people in his meetings. He also claimed that the female angel, Emma. O came from the heretic, William Brannan.
These people are looking to the dead for their “gifts” instead of seeking the power of the Holy Ghost.
These are very powerful roots to this false Angelic Healing Movement in America.
2 Cor 11:14-15,” And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”KJV
The Bible tells us not to seek after the dead….
1 Sam 28:7 “Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.” KJV
King Saul died together with his sons….
As you know, I believe the Jesus, His blood sacrifice, His Word, KJV, and the Holy Ghost should move revivals and not demonic angels.

  18. @holliday.pat, if Corrie ten Boom would still be alive and hear this, she would be very angry. She did not have a healing anointing. She was talking about reconciliation and was preaching the gospel.

It is a shame that those ‘charismatics’ abuse her name.

  19. John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 15:6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Haven’t these deceivers read about abiding only in Jesus and not in other spirits or demons?

Unfortunately for them because just like Todd they refuse to repent of their nonsense their fate is sealed to be cast out as a withered branch and thrown into the fire to be burned!

  21. Miraim,
I thought this was supposed to be about Curry Blake.
No doubt, we can find problems with ANY person or minister.
However, Curry Blake is NOT JG Lake.
Have you studied the lessons that Blake teaches?
His ministry has about an eighty five percent rate (I think
it’s actually higher), of success, praying for the sick!
Do you know of ANYONE or ministry that can come close?
They also have nine cases that they know of, of people being
raised from the dead through their teaching.
God has told us to take dominion and yes, that means over
disease. I’ts in the Bible and go line by line and you will see it starting in the Old Covenant.
I would hope you could do a piece in the future of folks who have been to a Divine Healing Teaching Training and see
    the results.
I do know that I am growing in the authority God has given to me and have begun to see healings happening as I continue
to work along with God in the process. I know, because I have prayed for myself and seen healing.
If a person will take the word of God and will compare it to the word of God and study it, they will see most of what the church teaches is tradition, which makes the word of God to no effect. No wonder there is not more healing being seen.
We are accountable for what the Bible teaches, and although I’m sure you have good intentions for starting this blog, I would love to ask you how many people is this blog bringing to the Lord? And how many people are you laying hands on and seeing healed? re you praying for the sick? They need the touch of Jehovah Raapha and He is still in the healing business.
The lost world could care less what is written here for the most part, they want to see a real Jesus and to know the love of the Lord Jesus in the flesh.
It makes me sad to see error in the church, but it makes me sadder thinking that there are people who will not get healed because of the way the church won’t do what the gospel tells us, and that is to do the works of the Gospel.
The world is waiting to see demonstrations of a God who is
Almighty and lives in us. In God’s eyes there are no super saints, just obedient sons and daughters.
    Sincerely,
    Elaine

I have talked to many others who went through it. Very few actual results. His teaching is flawless though, don’t get me wrong. Perfect theology and doctrine straight out of the WORD. I believe he is sincere. Just didn’t see anything! He certainly is not a money grubber. I believe him to be the best. But 85% is just not true.

  23. Romans 11:29
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

I pray that we would be released from the bondage of our theology to see the greatness to which we are called according to Christ in us. I pray also that our criticisms would fall on deaf ears and that in spite of our intentions that the kingdom would increase as a result of this website. May the spirit of wisdom and revelation bring us into the fullness of all that Christ accomplished for us at the cross, which made each of us white as snow, His glorious inheritance. Forgive us Lord for not walking in the forgiveness and grace that you have so generously afforded us.

    Comment by Chris | May 7, 2009

  24. Not everyone is going to be healed. If you’re sick and you doubt God I’m sorry but there are very few chances you’re going to be healed. Remember Jesus usually asked “do you believe God can heal.” And they always responded yes i do believe. What was Jesus’ response. Then Be healed “YOUR” faith has made you well. So if I pray for you or if Curry Blake prays for you and you just don’t believe in healing well like I said before the chances of being healed is greatly diminished. It takes faith for God to act. How can he act if you don’t have faith? God Bless Curry Blake. And when Curry Blake says that he sees 85% healing he’s not talking about himself. Curry Blake has trained over 30,000 people in the area of healing and those people include the 85%. Another good preacher who preaches healing who is 10000% correct in doctrine is Andrew Womack. He used to be a Baptist and got tired of the defeated “satan is more powerful than the christian mentality”. And the only thing Christians are good for is salvation. If you’re sick go to the doctor God doesn’t heal and He won’t heal. He doesnt use us poor ole’ sinful men nowadays to heal. Christians this mentality is totally unscriptural. We are victorious in Christ Jesus. We have authority in His name. We are NEW CREATURES in Christ Jesus. Did you know that the word new creatures actually means a totally different being? Thats amazing. Many Christians now days are stuck at the cross. Their’s nothing wrong with the cross of course. But the cross is Christianity 101. We must go from the cross to the Resurrection Life. To live in the resurrection power of God is why He created us. The cross and Christ is the access to God, but we must move forward to where we live, breath, and walk in His presence. Let us not be stuck at one point in our lives but lets go from glory to glory and change the world for Christ

  25. You are somewhat wrong, “Jesus Heals”. Not everyone with faith gets healed. I know 100s that have had tons of faith through the years, and DID NOT GET HEALED. Why can’t you stop the ‘positive/lying confession’ and admit the truth??? I have had 100% faith and have not been healed. It just has not happened. So, maybe we should all start with HONESTY and TRUTH…instead of false notions of presumptive ‘positive’ babble that yields NO RESULTS. (Oh yeah, the results ARE evident: unbelief, doubt, confusion, anger, disappointment, etc.) Didn’t the Bible say that IF we humble ourselves…that means to admit the truth and stop pretending. How can God heal us if we’re lying to ourselves and putting on a ‘healing-show-with-no-real-results’ every week???? Of course, I stiill believe JESUS CHRIST the MESSIAH heals, delivers from demons, restores, does miracles and rescues us from an eternal hell…BUT, the majority of ‘healers’ that call themselves ‘christian’ are living in falseness and fantasy. I will seek the REAL JESUS and HIS GOSPEL. He is The Truth, not the presumption!

  26. I’m so confused about healing.
What’s the truth? I just wish I knew the truth even if I didn’t like it. This would be better than never knowing who’s right. The problem is that you can never really be sure if those who say that healing works for them are really telling the truth. How can you be sure and believe them? What if they’re lying or simply not being objective?

  27. was Smith Wigglesworth for real? I had every one of his books at one time (thrown out)but in pentecostal circles he is worshipped.

  28. Lawrence,

Good question. A true Christian doesn’t worship any man. Whether its Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, Jentzen Franklin, Jimmy Swaggart, etc. As for your question from reading from Wigglesworths’ books both you and I know that He had a very very deep revelation of the person of the Holy Spirit. I have about 3 Wigglesworth books and I could show you that everything he says is biblical and with such an anointing in his books its unbelievable. Wigglesworths’ whole message was simple “Christ in him” can do all things. Every sick person that was healed in his ministry he gave credit to God alone. Lawrence, both you and I, if we get a revelation of who Christ is in us, we can do anything and heal any kind of disease. Why? Because its not you and its not me, its Christ in us the hope of glory. Jesus Christ 2000 years ago is the same Jesus Christ in you and in me. He still heals the sick. He still sets the captives free. He still raises the dead. Its only up to us to believe who He says He is. If you approach God with the mindset that you are sinful and undeserving of His grace then your prayers will uneffective. We need to approach God boldly knowing we are made righteous because of HIS righteousness. When God sees you he sees righteousness not because you’re a “good person” but because you’re bought with the blood of Christ. And His blood is for the remission of sins. Guess what Lawrence? Everything that Christ is you are. Every blessing from heaven is bestowed upon you because of who is in you. The Bible says “As Christ is, so are WE in this WORLD.” Notice it doesn’t say “as Christ is, so are we in HEAVEN” We don’t need to wait until heaven for favor, blessing, healing, power, victory, and righteousness because He has bestowed everything He is and has on us. John G. Lake has some questionable teachings I have to agree. But as for Smith Wigglesworth from reading his books he knew his position in Christ. He understood that all he was, was a vessel allowing to be used by God to the fullest. That it was the Holy Spirit in him that performed the miracles. The Holy Spirit was just confirming His Word.

One last thing. Smith Wigglesworth was not a crowd pleaser. Yes Wigglesworth had churches and large crowds full. But in his everyday life he prayed for the sick. He didnt wait for the “church” service to pray for the sick. When he went to the train station he prayed for the sick. When he went out to eat he prayed for the sick. When he went for a walk he prayed for the sick. That is normal christianity. To use your gifts when GOD wants you to use them, not just when its “convenient”.
