Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God's word

Todd Bentley is Ba-a-a-ck!!!

Thanks to ‘Geoffrey’ who let me know about this new development.

“Todd Bentley is back! Well back in the world of Myspace. The disgraced conference speaker now has a new myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/imtoddbentley

All links towards Fresh Fire Ministries are removed and books and CD’S, the earthly treasure’s of the Prophetic Movement, are now plugged. And you no longer need Fresh Fire to supply them.”

The sales now are directed through “Sound of Fire Productions” of which Todd claims to be the company president of, also linked to Todd Bentley’s dad, Dave Bentley and his step mum, Darcia Bentley.

The new Todd Bentley myspace page only started on 16th December 2008. You’ll note the continued lies about his being a healer and miracle worker on there – and his use of the present tense to describe his ‘ministry’.

It also certainly takes some nerve to write this about himself:

“He was also delivered from a lifestyle involving criminal activity, youth prisons, drugs, sex, satanic music and bondage.  Todd’s miraculous conversion to Jesus was much like the Apostle Paul’s on the Damascus road. Todd was instantly transformed into a radical disciple and soul winning evangelist for Jesus.”

When was Todd Bentley supposedly delivered of criminal activity exactly? The guy is a patholigical liar who has repeatedly deceived and fleeced and defrauded the flock. Demonic music is still promoted by him and even playing on his site! As for sex, well we all know of his current unrepented-of adulterous behaviour with the ex family nanny and Fresh Fire intern, Jessa {see http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/12/31/todd-bentleys-mistress-jessa-revealed/]. This behaviour is his being a ‘radical disciple’? And to equate himself with the apostle Paul – wow.

Todd Bentley lists himself as single and as California based. Bill Johnson, Heidi Baker and Rick Joyner are listed as his spiritual heros. Word of Faith Heretics Kenneth Hagin, E W Kenyon and Benny Hinn books are declared by him as good.

The only restoration spoken of is in some bad dominionist type teaching  of restoration of another kind on his blog here

I am not surprised Todd Bentley is attempting a comeback without acknowledgement, let alone repentence, for his many wrongs. I am not surprised he is still lying and is, if anything, even worse than before. What I am a little surprised by though is the amount of people who still openly  support this unrepentent liar and adulterer.

I could not see how to find out all who his 83 myspace friends to date are. But along with the ‘other woman’, Jessa, here are some of the other well known names recently signed on as his friends.

  • Rick Pino of Fire Rain Ministries (worship leader)
  • Shawn Bolz (prophetic)
  • Catherine Mullins (worship leader)
  • James Levesque, Fresh Fire associate
  • Sharnael Wolverton
  • Graeme Campbell (musician)

  1. So Todd Bentley gave all his former handlers John Arnott, Bill Johnson, and Che Ahe of Revival Alliance the finger? So what lies will his former handlers now publish to extract themselves from a bad situation gone worse? Boy! These fools are really fools and earned their special place in hell as “Third Wave Hypocrites”!

  6. On that website I mentioned is a letter from Bentley’s father, David Bentley, to promoot his son???

“A Personal Message , from David Bentley

As Todd’s father, and, because of the relationship I have cultivated over the telephone with many Fresh Fire Partners over the years, I felt it important that I write to you today.

You have supported the ministry so faithfully, whether it has been through sponsoring one or more of Fresh Fire’s children in Africa, the evangelistic outreaches, or other ministry endeavors. I would like to share with you, that we are heart-broken over the situation with Todd and Shonnah. It is our heart and prayer for wisdom as we relay information to you, and as we support, counsel, encourage, and comfort our son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, and continue to support and encourage God’s very great work through Todd’s ministry.

Processing the news of the current crisis between our son and daughter-in-law is indeed difficult and a sad task, as it must be for you. Revelation of their separation, however, is not shocking to my wife, Darcia, or I. Todd and Shonnah’s marriage has experienced rocky ground for around three years, as they have attempted to make it work, through even a previous separation, counseling, and resulting reconciliation. We stood by both of these precious ones during those times— in faith believing God to heal, restore, and rebuild the marriage, choosing not to lend forth voice publicly about their personal struggles because things were still somewhat tender and potentially unstable as they sought counseling, restoration, and healing. In addition, the Fresh Fire Board of Directors had chosen not to transmit this personal information, and we honored their request.
Many of the couple’s days of struggle were very hard. Todd himself stepped away from ministry as this hardship became a part of his season in the figurative desert wilderness a few years ago. It broke our heart to see their suffering, and saddened us even to imagine what a broken or upset home would mean to the children and to Todd and Shonnah respectfully.

Since the start of Lakeland and the “suddenly of God” that turned the world’s eyes toward our extreme, evangelist son and his radical love and faith in God Who Heals, there has been much conjecture and controversy. However, you who have known Todd and his ministry style have likely not been surprised that Todd and his unusual ways have caught the attention of thousands for revival and harvest. How sad, though not surprising, the rumors, accusations, and speculation surrounding all of this. My heart goes out to you too, as you try to process and sift through conjecture and even the facts with a heart of forgiveness and grace.
If God took every sinner or person who has failed in some area out of ministry, the world would not have church or harvest outreach. Nevertheless, Todd has made the decision to step down from the leadership of Fresh Fire and away from ministry for a season as he seeks the Lord’s wise counsel, arranges for the well-being of his wife and children during this time of separation, and prayerfully accepts the wisdom of those whom God brings to speak into his life.

In spite of all of us—God still chooses to use us. There but for the grace of God, goes every one of us. You know this, and it is why many have continued to support Fresh Fire. God can use a stick—but He’s chosen broken people, and we’ve loved what He has done through Todd, his family, staff, and the ministry throughout the world. FFM has had a great impact. It’s our prayer that even though Todd has stepped down from leadership and ministry, even though the bonds of marriage have broken down, that friends and partners will continue to support the work God entrusted to the ministry, not forgetting the outreach and mercy missions as well.
It is my prayer in this season of restoration and healing, as Todd, Shonnah, and my grandchildren receive counseling and much prayer, that this time will also magnify the grace of God to all the earth.

We should all be saddened, yes, by the turn of events, but we shouldn’t be disappointed in God’s power through Todd or the ministry. Those who are most disappointed, are those who have placed their trust in a man—and not in Jesus and the Father’s sovereignty and grace.

Great amounts of courage comes with taking the big stage and doing the things for Christ that Todd did, especially in this age. The media and heresy hunters have waited like vultures for him to fall. He could have quit at any time—but plowed through some of the toughest criticisms and hardest grounds. It has been very hard on every one who loves him, to see and know the pressures that have come upon youthful Todd, the ministry staff and volunteers, and the family, as a result. My heart wept for joy when I saw Todd with his family on stage at Lakeland—we all held out hope for full healing of their marital bonds.

It’s vital that the church not cast blame or judge, but that we repent, pray, intercede, and weep for Todd and Shonnah’s marriage, and for the healing and well-being of his children and extended family. And yes, for your healing, understanding, and grace through this time.

It is a lot different now than it was in David, Samson, or Solomon’s day, when they blundered or gave in to pressures. Yes, they were high profile with many responsibilities and much accountability, but they also didn’t have untold millions of people zapping into their television sets or connecting to the Internet, to zero in on their sins, perceived faults, or shortcomings. They didn’t have the stress and responsibility of such mass “faceless” diverse audiences or the hullabaloo wrought by media through today’s communication technology.
However, there is a good side to this if we can glimpse for a minute past the pain, and the recovery road ahead. The secular-ness of this situation has brought world attention to what is happening and God can turn it all for good while the world watches. Revival and ministry is not about Todd Bentley or any other evangelist, preacher, minister, or disciple—it is all about Jesus, about turning the hearts of men, women, and children, about repentance, and about reaching the world for the Savior. Todd, Shonnah, and the children need help, serious prayer, and thousands of people may need assurance that in spite of all of our shortcomings, they need to know that Jesus is still Savior, still the One who shed His blood.

We thank you so much for your continued faithful support of what God is doing. Please carry Todd, his family, and the ministry in your prayers and pray for one another and the Church as God gives us more wisdom, revelation, and insight in the coming days.

If you have further questions or concerns and would like to email or even talk to me personally by telephone, please email me at dave@freedomfires.com or telephone 1-541-223-7327, and I’ll respond as soon as possible.
    God Bless You,

    David Bentley”

    “David,
It shows the heart of a great father to write on Todd’s new website! We love Todd and while his decision is a sad one, he has been an example for the body of Christ. An example of vulnerability and honesty, of transparency. In this day and age where people don’t want anything else that’s fake, Todd has brought truth and faith.”

NO WONDER IT ALL FELL APART SO FAST BECAUSE IT ALL WAS NOT REAL BUT JUST A GREAT DECEPTION AND HOAX PLAYED UPON THE PUBLIC WITH TODD HAVING A 25 YEAR OLD AMERICAN MISTRESS BEFORE THE REVIVAL! OF COURSE SHE WAS FROM CALIFORNIA WHICH IS FULL OF NUTS AND CRACKPOTS AND MYSTICS! NOT SURPRISING?

  12. The Propaganda machine will be at work. Extreme Prophetic was quick to have Bobby Conner speak how Lakeland was not from the Devil. Bobby Conner was part of the boardroom staff that testified to Fresh Fire Partners that Todd Bentley had not any sin to hide from back in the fall of 2005.

Todd will likely work now with Rick Joyner, who better to have than his modern day heros work on his behalf to “restore” him?

Rick Joyner has the political power in this movement to appoint man back into leadership. Paul Cain made the mistake of walking away from Rick Joyner and Mike Bickle and moving to California for some obscure ministry to work on his behalf. Paul Cain is back in ministry still speaking lies about his homosexuality but according to Shawn Bolz he did speak a lovely message on the cross on his come back and read out people’s mail so the Prophetic Movement welcomed him back with open arms.

Todd likely will start preaching under Morningstar Ministries. God TV will have Todd Bentley back on the air aswell starting from Morningstar.

  14. I have said it before: all those ‘revivalists’, ‘prophets’, ‘apostles’, like Bentley, King, Wyatt, Pierce and many others are to lazy to get a decent job. They want to make money the easy way so they let people ’sow’ in their ministry. Well, they sow money in the pockets of those lazy thiefs.

    Comment by Ruitje | January 1, 2009

  15. So, one of the books that inspired Bentley was written by Benny Hinn. It is the same Benny Hinn that actually said that the Lakeland Revival was a fake revival. A demonic counterfeit. Hmmm, Todd probably haven’t seen Benny’s video yet…. Anyway, the NAR movement is soooo dangerous. Their god is not Yahweh, The G’d of Israel but their god is themselves. Their god is NOT the Great I AM, but The ME, MYSELF and I.

    Comment by WatEenZooitje | January 1, 2009

  16. Benny Hinn referred to people that listen to Todd Bentley as “Simple Minded”.

The Prophetic Movement have always used Benny Hinn as an example of what can be obtained from God. Now Benny Hinn probably is the enemy to them.

Not only did Benny Hinn refute the Lakeland revival but Bob Rodgers sat behind Benny during that meeting. You may remember that Todd had a word that Bob Rodgers was gonna recieve the revival. I think Todd spoke at Bob Rodgers church and probably was Todd’s first and last time.

Now many of Todds followers have critised Benny Hinn and claimed that the man is jealous of the Angels in Todd’s ministry. Benny Hinn also refuted Holy Ghost Tokers. Good Morning Holy Spirit was a controversial book, but it easy to see that Benny Hinn speaks of a different Holy Spirit than the one being toked and activated by a boot to the stomach.

  17. Todd is also on Facebook as at 15th December: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Todd-Bentley/50871761807

Plugging his products including his new book through Sound of Fire and Lakeland CDs and also posting his teachings.

This is his promo on Facebook -

“Todd Bentley is an international speaker, author, and evangelist called to global harvest. Todd Bentley and his team take God’s saving, healing and delivering power to the nations. Todd travels throughout North America , sparking revival fire and equipping the body in power evangelism and healing Ministry. As well, Todd and his team conduct many healing crusades throughout Africa , India , South America , Europe and beyond. Over one million decisions for Christ have been made in more than 65 countries. In his late teens, Todd had a dramatic encounter with the saving and delivering power of God. This experience brought Todd out of a lifestyle of drug and alcohol addiction without cravings or withdrawal symptoms. He was also delivered from a lifestyle involving criminal activity, youth prisons, drugs, sex, satanic music and bondage. Todd’s miraculous conversion to Jesus was much like the Apostle Paul’s on the Damascus road. Todd was instantly transformed into a radical disciple and soul winning evangelist for Jesus. God has drawn Todd into deep and intimate places of prayer. These extended times in God’s presence has released a fresh prophetic and miracle-healing anointing. God has used Todd to spark many revivals where meetings continued for extended periods of time including the Lakeland Outpouring in Florida. The passion of Todd’s life and ministry: is to see others set free through the anointing of the Holy Spirit and to see others come into the reality of intimate relationship with Jesus. He also desires to see Christ’s body healed, equipped and rising up in the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the great commission. Todd believes the body of Christ needs to be strengthened and encouraged. He ministers prophetically, corporately and personally as well as brings forth the word of God with the power and demonstration of the Spirit — God confirming His word with signs and wonders following. God has released an increase of the healing anointing into Todd’s life to the point where the blind see, the deaf hear & growths dissolve as Jesus still heals every sickness and disease.”

  18. What makes this worse is that this is not a standard facebook profile. Its actually a Todd Bentley Fan Page where Todd can be added to your profile as a product. The page is very clean so Todd is running these pages as a mod. The discussion board is filled with testimonies that Todd is approving. Any questions regarding his walk with God at present or comments question the revival likely would not be accepted. To me its wrong. If John Piper or David Wilkerson had fan pages I still would not sign up, these guys are not in the business of recruiting fans.

  20. We need to let things go.. and forgive todd bentley.. Its God’s job to judge him, and if we don’t forgive todd for lying and committing adultery. how can God forgive us? for we have all sinned.. I knew something wasn’t right with todd and his ministry the first time i heard him.. but it isn’t my place to judge or you. We can all fall at any moment. We must watch ourselves and make sure we are not the Pharisees.. the ones who are redeemed from their great sins are the most grateful.. and the main argument is after todd was saved he was transformed.. but we can still fall from God even if we are transformed.. we have a will and its easier to fall away.. we are all imperfect.. we need to remember only Jesus, the Father and the holy spirit is perfect.. we need to let go of unforgiveness..

  21. Sharlene – … of course Daddy endorses his son and states God still uses him… why because there is $$$ involved..

yes, Sharlene, also where was Daddy when TB was living alone with his mother and used to beat her. Yes that’s right in interview he said “I used to beat my mother”. Where was daddy when TB was alone in the house with his mother and his mother suffered a broken arm and although TB denied that particular incident he says his family thought he had done it. If you read David Bentley’s story it is very sad in the same way that TB’s background is very sad. They are in my view a damaged family. TB is probably so damaged that he may suffer from some very deep psychological problems. Adele – you really need to read more – TB has not asked for forgiveness – as I have indicated above there is a possibility that he may not know right from wrong.

    Comment by jan(2) | January 2, 2009

  22. Hey, Adele: Why is it that “forgiveness” for one of these clerical wolves (like Todd Bentley) is accompanied by “let’s forget”? I mean, seriously, all it does is make it just that much more likely that the wolf in question is going to be out fleecing the flock in no time flat?

Really, is there any sin that can be committed that would put one of these clerical wolves outside the pale? Oh, wait, there is one. Teh Ghey. Everything else, adultery, divorce, drunkenness, theft, etc., etc., is forgiven. But homosexuality, oh my, you’re tainted forever.

If Christians have so little discernment that they’ll give their accolades to a flat-out liar like Todd Bentley, why should I, who have departed the church in annoyance, be any more likely to give the church another chance? I have standards and the church apparently does not (except where Teh Ghey is concerned).

    Comment by mirele | January 2, 2009

  23. Mirele

You are right there is a lot of hypocrisy and double standards within the ‘church’, especially about homosexuality. But please do not think all Christians think like this, any more than all Christians think the modern televangelists are real men of God…

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | January 2, 2009

  24. Oh, I know, Miriam. But the gullibility that is present out there (and which I’d gotten sucked into in the past) is enough to make one sick. And it’s been there for a very long time. My dad, who grew up in Oklahoma in the 1930s and 40s, told me about evangelists who would go through after harvest time, when families had cash from selling their crops, and rake it in. And these were poor families (there’s a reason my dad and his siblings left the farm and never went back). I could go into a bit of detail about it (my dad explained the scheme to me some years ago), but basically, the churches benefitted, the evangelists benefitted, and the people, they got fleeced.

You can also see this in the film Marjoe, of which there are a few excerpts on YouTube. And that was in the 1970s. There’s little doubt in my mind that the same sort of scamming is still going on.

My prayer is this year that your eyes can focus on God and see Him in and for himself, His love, puritiy, holiness and truth – and not focus on the clowns, charlatans and abusers that come in His name, when choosing whether or not to follow Him.

I know so many people reject God because of the behaviour of His alleged so-called disciples and can never quite see past that as their thinking is so tainted. It is tragic. But I do not think you are such a one.

May the truth, Jesus Himself, set your mind free and open your eyes to His all-compelling beauty, and may His love and grace bring you to faith and repentence!

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | January 2, 2009

  27. Received this site from our pastor, who has been following Todd Bentley all along and sending his little flock all the news. Never would have even heard of the guy, if our pastor wasn’t keeping us all abreast of the scandal.

My husband and I have been through an intense course in Deception and Disillusionment 101, Intermediate and Advanced both locally and personally and in observing it on the national level in our nearly thirty years with the Lord. Nothing new here, just more of the same. What has kept us faithful, balanced and our noses clean can all be boiled down to two things – we were taught well in the beginning and keep to what it says in the Bible, and we keep our eyes on Jesus and not on fallible and devious men.

Btw, I disagree with Adele, because: 1. The guy has never repented and is back at it again in a different “suit”, 2. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it and be duped by it. That’s why this type of person can always get some of the old suckers back and find new ones. Remember The Holocaust? We’re supposed to learn from what we’ve seen and experienced, not turn a blind eye. What is this mealy-mouthed mentality of “forgetting about it” doing? It’s created a whole band of Holocaust deniers and the guarantee that at some point down the line, there will be another holocaust on the same grand scale. Hey, look at all the preparation and dress rehearsals for that big one going on now.

So, don’t check your brains at the door of the church, folks. Use the discernment God gave you. Mirele has a head on her shoulders, and good for her. Btw, am I correct in my guess that Mirele is Jewish, as am I? I recognize the name as being Yiddish, and it was my late mother’s Yiddish name.

Another sad thing is that Fresh Fire still have operations. Todd Bentley resigns and Fresh Fire likely are sick with him, then Todd sets himself up again and before long is back in the money. Suddenly the Jesus Village oprhange and other humanaterian acts are not Todd’s concern and who funds them seeing as there is no longer a hot shot leader fundraising before each time he speaks.

Bentley and his supporters. Satan also has a cast of supporting characters doing his bidding.
It is regrettable that so many so called professing Christians do not have an thimble full of discernment so that they can pierce through this Todd Bentley nonsense and move on with their lives. But no. They are stuck in a time warp and they go to the Todd Bentley’s of this world because they in themselves identify with such gibberish because it is in them also. Likes attract like! Just like the charlatan Peter Popoff was disgraced and later “snuck back” into the media and public and is now purportedly raising millions of dollar with his flim flam prophecies, so now Todd B., wants to “come back” and fleece the flock for profit and sadly, enough babies will flock to him and think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
The Body of Christ is currently suffering from a lack of sound Bible Teachers who can expose these charlatans for what they are….false teachers and false prophets who are merchandising the saints…..and we fall for it…hook line and sinker! Whereever Todd shows up, there should be demonstrations against his idiocy and foolishness. and the same regarding B. Hinn, C. Copeland, C. Dollar, J. Meyers,
    M. Hickey, F. Price and hosts of others. EXAMINE THEIR DOCTRINE AGAINST THE WORD OF GOD AND IF IT IS FAILING, FLEE FROM SUCH IMPOSTERS!

  38. Don’t forget to check out the excellent exposure of Todd Bentley Inc. at http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2009/01/todd-bentley-inc.html

It will be interesting how the taxation people will react to the statement:

Having sat in his audience while Mr. Bentley talked up the blessing of giving to his work, I suspect that he would still receive what he calls “Pentecostal handshakes”, and still have people sticking money into his pockets as he talks, to get the particular blessing from God that he is speaking about at that moment. I saw this happen. He could get donations without having to issue receipts. So, perhaps he might prefer not having to answer to tax authorities at all.

  40. For the record, the ‘Jeff’ in the comment above uses the same email address as Jeff Garvin, Fresh Fire ministries associate. Jeff, want to reveal yourself?

You call yourself an ‘urban prophet’ – yet you do not know biblical basics about standing for truth and judging the false?

As to judgment, and judgment day, anything you want to come clean about this side of eternity?

  41. Dear Jeff, Todd Bentley, John Arnott, Che Ahe and Bill Johnson are Satanists and they are not God’s children and positively not Christians and they are many proof to these fact including their lies, stealing, cowardice, hiding, adultery, drunkenness, and associating and supporting sexual perverts!

And the other fact that you cannot deny is that all your prayers and those of your friend about those such as Miriam Franklin who has been exposing the leaders of NAR and Revival Alliance are dead, impotent and useless because God is never on the side of those who are demonized and unholy!

So Jeff stop complaining and face the facts as expressed by God’s word – 2COR 13:8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. EPH 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 5:14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” 5:15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 5:16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

I would love to see the arrogant sons of hell such as John Arnott, Che Ahe and Bill Johnson come out in the open out of the dark and defend to the public all their lying words about Todd Bentley since the commissioning of June 2008? But they will not because the bible tells us:

JN 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 3:20 “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.3:21 “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

  42. There is a difference between someone being a ‘Satanist’ and someone else being a ’son of the devil’ and another one being ‘deluded by the devil’. All exist within the church, but I think one should be clear as the differences between them.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | January 5, 2009

  43. According to Jesus scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites are sons of hell and the leaders of NAR and Revival Alliance definitely fall into this category. And as for being deluded and used by the devil to hate and demonize true Christians that was and is always their choice and not God’s

MT 23:13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 23:14 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. 23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

And the fact remains that these liars, cowards and hypocrites will not come into the open and defend their lying words about Todd Bentley who is more than just a son of hell, a sorcerer and an adulterer and puts demonic spirits upon those whom he prays for! Because Todd gives to others what he has and it’s not God’s Holy Spirit!

I do not disagree with you that many of them are sons of hell. I just think ’satanist’ is perhaps not the most helpful way of describing them unless they are a deliberate satanist and know whom they serve, as I know some are.

When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 8:45 “But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

Jesus said about Todd Bentley and his friends that their father was the devil because they cannot stand the truth nor do they want to hear the truth. A fact which cannot be denied because true Christian love the truth and they never fight against it?

So in my book there are Satanist because their father is Satan, not god, and they are doing his works, not God’s!

They are Satanists because true Christians would never sell the truth for a lie no matter what was offered them!

  48. As always, mention of Todd Bentley tends to bring out the ugly…. which is a clear enough sign to me to steer clear of his ministry ( as if I needed any!) and to walk in love. Now I know that Jesus Himself caused controversy, but Todd is by no means even worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as our Saviour and I find that argument (which my own family likes to offer in his defense) offensive. He (and the spirit with him) brings anger, division, bitterness and dissent to the Body. I cannot see ANY of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in his ministry or his followers. In fact, I even see fruit withering in those opposed to him when they get involved in discussions about him. As far as the other “shepherds” are concerned.. they are hirelings(John 10:11)who do not care for the sheep. Thank you for this forum. Someone has to speak up and care for the poor sheep.

  49. The sad thing about Jenna is that she will find that Todd will cheat on her in a few years too.

She’d be mad to trust any ‘interns’ wouldn’t she?

I wonder if ‘Jeff’ thinks that Todd should be allowed to have his cake and eat it too. Jesus said “any man who divorces his wife and marries another woman is committing adultery”

Why should God send a non-believing adulterer to hell but allow a ‘christian’ adulterer to go to heaven?

Without repentance there can be no forgiveness. Every act of Pardon is written in the Blood of Jesus. You do know that repentance means to stop doing what the Lord doesn’t like. Repentance means being sorry enough to stop.

Todd isn’t sorry at all. He’s got the reward he wants here on earth. It has $ signs all over it.

  51. In all of the years that I have been in ministry, and even more so, the years that I have been following Christ, I have yet to see one of these ministers with a national platform acutally step down and stay down for an extended period of reflection and repentance AFTER they were caught in sin. Jimmy Swaggart never did it. None of them that I can think of. Which contradicts the teachings of the Apostle Paul who warned the church at Corinth to deal with the man in sin with his own mother. But, in 2 Corinthians, Paul says NOT to go too far in judging these types of men lest you destroy them. Having said this, I think it is terrible and hateful for someone to write something as dark as this person posted in one of the first posts on this item: “These fools are really fools and earned their special place in hell as “Third Wave Hypocrites”!” That statement is condemned in the Bible on many accounts. From the place of judging not lest you be judged, the idea of condemning someone to hell, when that is God’s place and we should be in no hurry to wish anyone to be in hell. And God warns us as believers not to be using the term fool in this way, lest you sentence yourself to hell.
While these ministers like Todd Bentley are clearly deceivers being used unfortunately by satan to deceive the spiritually immature and vulnerable, I see that there are many who post on this particular discussion board who ooze hate and absolutely no manifestation of God’s love or His Spirit. I see this great spirit of condemnation, a weapon that is just as destructive against the Name of the Lord as the deceivers. The spirit of judgment that destroys rather than restores is being demonstrated ever so clearly by many on this board in the same way that the unrepentant King Saul demonstrated as he tried to kill off the spirit of King David. The reason that we are winning so few from this world system into the Kingdom of God is because there are few in the church who are demonstrating repentance based upon the love of God. How do you think you are winning over the lost with these hateful and raging comments? You are not winnning any over from the world. If anything you turn off the lost by such hatred. I cannot even believe that someone believes they are saved while they articulating exuberance at the thought of some of these ministers being in hell. What a terrible thing for someone to proclaim against a minister whether they be false or not.

    No bash. Hear me out.
“a special place in Hell” you say is “condemned in the Bible on many accounts.”
Does not Scripture say teachers are more accountable?
Does not Scripture say their punishment is greater?
Scripture, James, says your words are wrong.

You then condemn everyone on this site as murderers,
weapons against Jesus, hatefull, and turning the lost away.

cool. Thanks for persecuting those few who seek truth, accountability, and warn others, as commanded by the Word.

No he did not. Todd has NEVER repented. Actually LISTEN to what is said in these restoration videos, there is no even words of repentance, let alone actions in line with repentance. They have pulled the wool over your eyes.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 17, 2009

  58. cp, Todd never repented and I’ve been watching closely to all the videos. While it’s true that he’s apologised and said he sinned, he’s made no effort to repent, that is turn back from his sin and make amends to those he’s sinned against. The most telling aspect of that lack of repentence, apart from not apologising for all the false prophecies and miracles at Lakelend, which he continues to hold as from the Lord, is his persistence in his sham “marriage”. It cannot be marriage as the Bible defines his current relationship as adultery. When he takes steps to annul that relationship and returns to his wife, I’ll know that he’s on the road to a true understanding of our Lord’s will. That said, his track record is one that shows he’ll persist in all his errors. I’m not holding my breath.

Perhaps you’d like to define what you think repentence is? Todd has had fantastic opportunities by way of the videos to come clean on lots of things but he still seems to just be angling to keep his new young thing, get back into “ministry” and be “da man”.

He has not even done that, what he has done is consistently dodged and made excuses. His only ‘apology’ surrounded by excuses has been along the lines of ‘I’m sorry if others were hurt by my actions’ – this is not saying ‘I’m sorry for doing the actions’ or ‘I acknowledge they were sinful’ as every spin doctor knows.

  60. Todd never truly repented. Do you see a difference between Jimmy Swaggart and Todd Bentley. Yes a huge difference. Jimmy Swaggart came on TV and wept and repented for what he did. Todd Bentley dodges and avoids and never admits what he did was wrong. And you can tell a difference between the two. Todd Bentley is still preaching angels, while Jimmy Swaggart is still preaching the Cross and Christ crucified. Big difference. I know some humans won’t accept Jimmy Swaggart back into ministry but did God accept David back to Him? We’re humans, we mess up when we get away from God.

  63. Joel, your comment to Jesus Heals was uncalled for. If you and I need to repent (which I am sure you agree that we all need to frequenlty do) we do so in private of course, as it is between you or me and God alone. Todd Bentley is a public figure, and has to repent publicly that is the point.
He has not repented and until we see genuine tears of remorse publicly, then his private “sorry Lord, and now I’m forgiven” is NOT repentance but counterfeit like everything else that comes out of his mouth. He is an absolute disgrace.

  66. where in the Bible does it say that public figures have to repent in public?

    Comment by Joel | May 21, 2009

  67. Dear Joel:

Because if Christian leaders don’t repent in public, their evil deeds still stand?

Is there something about repentance that you don’t understand?

In other words, Todd Bentley would have to return all the money obtained by him at Lakeland if he truly “repented”. This is because he knew he was lying and had obtained this money by false premises, he knew very well he was in adultery at the time of Lakeland

but he was passing himself off has a “happily married man” .

So, for Todd Bentley to repent, just as Matthew had to return the ill gotten gains when he was collecting taxes illicitly, Bentley would have to

truly give up his relationship with Jessa,

return the money he obtained by farce at Lakeland,

sell the half million dollar property he bought at Lakeland with the proceeds, and of course,

step down forever from ministry because God tells us in the Bible that elders and preachers are to be “of one wife.”

Then, Bentley’s repentance would be made clear.

Not sure how he’d repent of falling under the sway of counterfeit Christian prophets, and their demons disguised as angels of light without major deliverance, though.

I suppose he could televise the demons leaving his body in the same way he televised imparting demons to people. That seems like a good start at true repentance for Todd Bentley.

    Comment by AriseMyLove | May 21, 2009

  68. Furthermore, there are specific scriptures about dealing publicly with church leaders sin.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 21, 2009

  69. On the subject of repentance, Joel, again, when I am called to repent because the Spirit makes clear the grievousness of my sin, it must be a complete repentance, of no holding back anything and my flesh cannot “be spared” the humbling aspect of confession of sin.

Our sins affect other people. We harm the body of Christ when we as Christians sin, even if we think our sins are “hidden”.

I don’t like the humiliating aspects of repentance, but this is because my flesh does not like admitting I am a wanton sinner without Jesus Christ.

For teachers and preachers, the sin is all the more problematic, as the Word tells us, they will be held to a higher standard. This is because teachers and preachers PREACH IN PUBLIC, and they have an effect on the faith of the flock.

Do you understand now why Christian leaders must repent in public?

    Comment by AriseMyLove | May 21, 2009

  70. You cannot exorcise sin and a darkened heart. But yeah, this guy is deeply under the influence of the evil one,

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 21, 2009

  71. Miriam, I know you can’t exorcise sin out of a person. It was an imagined scenario as to what it would take for Todd Bentley to truly repent. In that scenario, Bentley would probably have to be delivered of demons.

    Comment by AriseMyLove | May 21, 2009

I wasn’t addressing you, I was just saying.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 21, 2009

  73. Joel, you asked what the bible says about ‘public repentance’.

In his letters to Timothy, Paul wrote: 1 TIM 3: 2 “Now an overseer/leader must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self controlled, respectable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4: He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect”.
Joel I respectfully ask you, does that sound remotely like Todd Bentle?

Now to public repentance, 1 TIM 5: v 20 “Those who sin are to be rebuked PUBLICLY, so that the others may take warning”.

    Comment by Sylvia | May 21, 2009

  74. There is no way Todd Bentley, Rick Joyner, John Arnott, Bill Johnson and other Third Wave leaders will repent of their proven sins and lie because they are too arrogant and proud!

    Comment by Brad | May 21, 2009

  75. Im sorry, I understand that things were not done properly during this whole thing, but where is “grace” in all of this. I am not speaking of false grace that allows ppl to sin. I am speaking of when someone does apologise, forgiving that person and moving on. Veiwing other posts from this site I have seen NONE of that. Aren’t we supposed to be merciful and graceful? Just like Jesus? “Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.” And I dont understand why tears are required for repentence either. Im not saying that his statement reguarding repentence was perfect but what I am saying is that he has apologized. Who are we to judge him? It may not be what you wanted to hear. Lets stop passing judgement on a situation that we honestly do not know the details about. We are reading things based on hearsay and making out own assuptions about this man. If you don’t like him… Dont follow him… its as simple as that! Lets walk in meekness and humilty!
And @atco, I really dont understand where you are coming from expecting him to end the marriage he is now in? I know that divorce is not of the Lord but what do you expect him to do? He tried his best to make his relationship, which did start in sin, the best relationship it could be under the circumstances. It may not be what you would have done but what is done is done and why would you ask him to end yet another marriage? That makes no sense!

I do apologise if this comes across rude I do not wish for it to be taken that way.

    Comment by cp | May 26, 2009

    >>what I am saying is that he has apologized

You are still not listening. To what God is saying (most important), to what Todd has actually said or to us!

Show me specifically where you think Todd has said sorry, because if you look again and read his words you will see he has NOT said sorry, let alone repented, for the things he has done.

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 26, 2009

  77. I guess what I am saying is just because he hasn’t said what you want him to say does not mean that he hasnt apologised. I read the statement from both Todd and Rick and it saddened me only bc I was unaware of what was going on bc honestly I didnt follow it that closely. I was, however, happy to see that he has agreed to go through a restoration process. His actions in doing so, reflect to me that he has repented and is making an effort to turn from his ways. To me his actions are truely speaking louder than words. Isnt that what repentence is about? Again, where is grace and mercy in all of this?
However if you feel a strong conviction about all of this, that’s great! Stick to your convictions! But I do encourage you to pray for this situation rather than to pass judgement.

    Comment by cp | May 26, 2009

  78. cp

You still aren’t listening! This isn’t about Todd Bentley not saying what “I want him to say” – the evidence is he has not apologised for his sin to date – not even weaping crocodile tears. The restoration process at Rick Joyner’s is a whitewashing process that does not involve confessing sin.

You say you have not followed this that closely, which may be the reasons for your presumption and not realising all what Todd has done, yet I have followed this closely.

    >> His actions in doing so, reflect to me that he has repented and is making an effort to turn from his ways. To me his actions are truely speaking louder than words.

You say actions speak louder than words. Todd is still with Jessa, he still hasn’t said sorry for anything he has done, he is still lying, Rick Joyner is still covering over his sins, and he is still full of false theology etc

    >>Again, where is grace and mercy in all of this?

Grace and mercy does not mean the church tolerating and following an unrepentant false prophet, a charaltan, a liar. It does not mean one accepts behaviour from a minister when he is not sorry. etc

    >>Stick to your convictions!

No, stick to the word of God on this, which clearly tells us what repentance is, the qualifications for a minister, and what happens when a leader sins. What gives you the right NOT to?

    >>I do encourage you to pray for this situation rather than to pass judgement.

Since when is it either, or?

Since when did God say NOT to pass judgment on what is right or wrong?

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 26, 2009

  79. The bible also says nothing about repentence being a regulaion of forgiveness. We are called to forgive so that we too may be forgiven of our transgressions.

    Comment by cp | May 26, 2009

  80. Judge not lest you be judged. Isnt that the Word? I really am not trying to argue. Like I said previously I am not speaking of a false grace where we cover our eyes and say that we dont see someone else’s faults but what I am saying is having grace to still look at this person in love, say that what they are doing is wrong and understand that they are human and not perfect. And having mercy rather than judgement. Bc that is also biblical. Again as I had said before do you expect him to go through yet another divorce in order to do what exactly? Yes his relationship started in sin, and that is not ok. But he is married now. SO why not try the best to bring restoration to that relationship? Why not surrender it to God and take that covenant serious. He has broken his last one which again is not ok but now he is in a covenant so dont you think it is best to fulfill your vows to the Lord? This is the thing that I am most confused about. Do you actually expect him to divorce yet another woman? Is that somehow ok now?

Please I hope you do not think I am trying to argue, I am however trying to best understand your point of view and express my opinions just as you are.

    Comment by cp | May 26, 2009

  81. cp

    >>Judge not lest you be judged. Isnt that the Word?

Not in the context you mean it. Look at the passage again. Jesus was talking about hypocritical judgment as per the pharisees and not godly impartial judgment between what is right and wrong.

    >>Like I said previously I am not speaking of a false grace where we cover our eyes and say that we dont see someone else’s faults but what I am saying is having grace to still look at this person in love, say that what they are doing is wrong and understand that they are human and not perfect.

If that’s what you mean, then why are you criticising because you have no evidence we don’t love, only that we judge right from wrong.

    >>And having mercy rather than judgement. Bc that is also biblical.

Again I think you are confusing the different forms of judgment. Mercy and judgment also go together. Please do a Bible study in the new testament of what a Christian is called to judge, including sin and false prophecy and teaching, and what is right and wrong behaviour. Christians are called to judge to such an extent that they were rebuked for taking their issues to court instead of the church!

    >> so dont you think it is best to fulfill your vows to the Lord?

The Lord Jesus has no part in this, Todd’s lord is his own belly and his private parts.

You must surely be able to face up to that IF Todd were really sorry, he would not have pursued divorcing Shonnah over many months, nor quickly remarried his mistress as a fait accompli whom he had has before Lakeland even started.

If you look at what the Bible says about divorce, Todd and Jessa though married in the eyes of American law are not married according to the law of God and thus they are still living in adultery.

I also emphasise there was numerous wrong with Todd Bentley even before he started sleeping with Jessa. So his marital status being fixed does not alter what he is – a blatant liar. The affair is but a diversion from the REAL issues

    Comment by endtimespropheticwords | May 26, 2009

  82. Please do not accuse me of not doing my research… I did actually go to school for worship leading mind you! :) Obviously we do not agree on this issue. I am listening to every word you are saying but I do not have to agree with you. Thank you for expressing your opinion with so much passion! I can appreciate that. However I still think its best to leave our noses out of a place where they dont belong. If you dont agree with him, you have said your peace so move on and let the Lord deal with him if you truly believe he is in the wrong but dont gossip about it!
Lets agree to disagree shall we!
    Bless you!

  83. Also, I would just like to say that I did not agree with everything that was done at Lakeland. I went to see for myself what it was about with a group of students from my school. What I saw was a bunch of hype, yes, but also, the Lord breathing on it. Things that had absolutely nothing to do with what was going on onstage. One of the girls I went to school with, who is blind in her left eye was begining to see light and shadows in that eye. So we laid hands on her. She said she was beginning to see more clearly. But for some reason her complete healing didnt happen that day. I cant explain it but all I know is that the Lord did something there! I also saw a woman that the Lord told me to go pray for who was in a wheel chair get up and walk. She did not go and shout it from the stage, she was content with what was done and didnt need to go on stage! I dont think everything was done right, obviously mistakes were made and that is why Todd is in the position he is in now. But some things were legit. We have to face the fact that some ppl are just crazy and follow hype! We are all weak… every one of us! But some stuff was legit. It is my personal opinion to chew the meat and spit out the bones -so to speak. I cant explain why some things just weren’t right and I didnt agree with some of it but I do know that God showed up and met our little bit of faith no matter how small it was with some healing. Granted I dont know what happened to the woman I prayed for now… it could have been a fake but it gave me faith to believe that the God who healed through Jesus still heals today.

    >>Please do not accuse me of not doing my research…

It was YOU that said you had not paid much attention to what has gone on – so why are you now cross for me saying that your presumptions as to what happened (as compared to actual research of the evidence) could be why you are stating what you are stating – have you actually checked out this out since?

    >> I do not have to agree with you.

No, you don’t have to agree with me – but you should agree with the truth and scripture. And you should stop saying something is so when it is not so. You have said Todd has apologised and repented yet there is no evidence this is so and plenty of evidence he has not – you are thus leading people astray by lies and deception whether you realise this or not. Don’t you think you have a responsibility to pass on the truth, and if you do not know it say so?

    >>However I still think its best to leave our noses out of a place where they dont belong. If you dont agree with him, you have said your peace so move on and let the Lord deal with him if you truly believe he is in the wrong but dont gossip about it!

Ah! This is what you are taught at IHOP is it? Tell me, what does scripture teach us about keeping our noses out and not ‘gossiping’ about false prophets, charlatans, liars and abusers? It does not say anything on this, it says to do the opposite – the Lord rebuke you for passing on this deception!

PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH and stop being so naive.

  85. Wow… I am sorry that you feel that way. I appreciate what you have to say but I do not agree with everything that you have said. My remark about research was in reference to scripture.
It is one thing to shed light on an issue that you feel is deceptive but is completely something other than to bash someone over the internet. That is what I mean by gossiping. This has become a breeding ground for bad mouthing people! You have your own opinions about stuff I get it. And yes it may be truthful but where is the love of Christ when you are presenting this? I have not seen it yet.
I am not naive I just dont agree with you.
    Thank you for your time!
