Thomas Weeks – A Weak Man With His Toilet Talk

As I do not want to create a stumbling block to anyone, I suggest that if you are underage, or if, as an adult, you think you may have a weakness in the area of lust, you may be better skipping reading this post completely – or at least skip watching the videos.

This following video here featuring ‘Bishop’ Thomas Weeks, Juanita Bynum’s ex, is disgraceful. I do not like the way it has been cut, which is rather annoying, but listen to what is said by Thomas Weeks which is absolutely terrible in itself and so worth putting up with the annoying editing.

What is said is a terrible indictment of Thomas Weeks as a man and as a minister, but also of his church Global Destiny, the people who ordained him, and of the people who flock and listen to this man and consider him ‘anointed’. It is not just what he says, but how he says it and the folk’s reaction to it.

I know ’Bishop’ Thomas Weeks is considerably less popular than he was a year or so ago, because of the much-publicised divorce with Juanita Bynum and the alleged battery in the hotel carpark. I also know his ‘church’ is in dire financial straits. But for all that, this video is still worth highlighting to show how far some have strayed from the faith, and how much a man can get away with at the pulpit without rebuke in “the house of God”. {And people think Mark Driscoll is bad?!]

And sadly, Thomas Weeks and his congregants are not alone - there are way too many people who promote a similar so-called ”booty gospel” in one form or another. There’s money in it, honey. The ‘pimp’ in prosperity pimp takes on a whole new meaning here.

A brief transcript of the video is below -

Thomas Weeks talking:

“It’s hard to pastor without a wife. I don’t want to talk about it …

One day I took my keys, and I was still assisting him at the church. And I walked into the house, and I said “Dad, if I do not go and get me some blank blank blank [body language is obvious what he is talking about] …. cos I need to feel like a man right now…”

{Endtimespropheticwords note - Bishop Weeks only feels like a ‘man’ when having extra marital sex? And then not for love, but only for physical pleasure / lust alone?  And he cannot control his physical urges in the meantime? And also note the way he says he talks about these urges! There’s no “please help me” but more a demand of “I’m gonna get me laid…”]

“Cos this whole thing about taking care of myself [eg mas**rbation] doesn’t work.

{Note again the irreverance, the lust, the uncontrollable desire for sin, and the lack of desire for holy living and lack of repentance. Or any care for it. Note also the boasts to the congregation and complete lack of shame about it.

This guy far from helping people out, not only leads them astray but leads them to lust more.]

“You all hear me right now? I’m gonna be real with you because I want you to hear this.

I said: “Here’s the keys to the church, you can have the title assistant pastor, but tonight I want to go find me some booty.” {More body language and hand actions leaving no doubt at all as to exactly what he means].

{So even worse than Esau who swapped his inheritance for a single meal, and despised it, so Thomas Weeks will give away his ministry/church to satiate the lusts of his own flesh.  That’s really great to hear if you were one of his faithful congegation, huh – your ’shepherd’ will chuck you away for the sake of a single lay?!!]

“I wanna rub on something that it feels like it’s flesh. Because standing over a toilet or sitting over a bed ain’t taking care of myself ain’t working no more….”  {and so he goes on].

There is an associated video featuring Thomas Weeks here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQWAop7klaE

In it, Weeks and his team are discussing his publicity stunt of a search for a new wife. God is nowhere in this. Their talk more than gives their wordliness away as well as Weeks attitude to sex and to women. And this is on video, remember, so you would have thought they’d be on their best behaviour and watch what they are saying!

On another video, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waXrbpFikZU&feature=related at 4.27 minutes, Weeks says: “Don’t take your salvation into the bedroom, because the bedroom becomes the balance to your salvation.”   This man does not have a clue as to what salvation means to say this. How can the church of God stand this terribly weak  man?

  1. Where are all the “mentors” and “prophets” that gushed over Weaks and Bynum on TBN when they were married? Where are the real leaders that will correct, exhort and teach this man and pray for his deliverance? This is just plain sick. Sicker than Marc Driscoll.

  2. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Romans 2:3 (KJV)

We have a true responsibility to carny ourselves in a manner the Glorifies God, this is especially true of those that say we are set apart for God (Christians)

But what he does is not what scares me so much, I think I expect from so many with this type of perverted gospel this to be the case. My problem is that they always seem to have such large following, Churches with 1,3,7,even 10 thousand members, all of which go home and live their lives under the instruction of this man.

  3. Just when I thought nothing would shock me anymore, THIS DID. I am extremely careful about who I declare to be saved or unsaved, but will unquivically declare “THIS MAN IS UNSAVED AND SHOULD BE STOOD DOWN IMMEDIATELY” He is nothing less than DISGUSTING!

  4. I see RingoTv has made it to the Big time. LOL. Love his work.

We MUST expose those who blaspheme the name of the Holy Ghost in their crude attempts to “help” the masses.

Or is it just their pocket books, wallets and Bank Accounts. LOL.

Lust and Pleasure are their God’s!!!!!

Have they not forgotten what happens when their idol Gods stand face to face in the presence of The True and Living God???

    1 Samuel 5:2 –1 Samuel 5:4 (KJV)

When the Philistines took the ark of Elohim, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of YHWH. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of YHWH; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

    Proverbs 16:25 (KJV)

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

All throughout the Bible there is a common theme for those who Glory in Sin:

and thou shalt put evil away from among you.

Where is the basic foundational teaching?

    Galatians 5:16 (KJV)

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Guess they like their version better, Walk in the Flesh and ye shall not fulfill the Desires of the Spirit.

    So Sad, So Sad.

  5. I watched this video which contains the original in context. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3CRxPgFOr0&feature=related As far as I can tell, it seems he’s talking about something that happened in the past, that he was discussing with his father. ( So the “His” above should be “his”) As the video ends abruptly, the full context is not clear. Perhaps he went on to say that his dad rebuked him soundly and he repented fully…

Seems like a normal worldly church conference…

  7. I wonder how any christian could sit down, listen to all the words and not feel defiled. No God-fearing christian should have returned to the church ever again. What happened to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord”

I guess nothing comes out of a person that is not already there.

    Comment by OvercomerInChrist | January 26, 2009

  8. oh no.

and “it’s hard to pastor without a wife” is just unbiblical, anyone with some BASIC knowledge of the gospel should see that.

    darn.

  9. Thanks for the other unedited video.

As one commentator says “Weeks goes and tells his father that JUANITA BYNUM and him are taking it further. His father smiles and tells him, “I think this is the woman that has the potential to take you where you need to be!” Chi Ching!”

  10. Daniel

There is a time and place for expressing such a ‘problem’.
How dare he voice with such a mouth of filth from the pulpit, and in front of many women. It might have tickled YOUR fancy, (and I agree there was laughter, so I guess other fancies were tickled) but his behaviour is offensive, unholy and unacceptable. Your approval is most revealing of your own mindset.
Don’t suggest it is a ‘man thing’ either, as my husband was as equally disgusted as I.
Where in scriture can you point to ONE TIME that Jesus stooped so low. Nowhere. He was pure and holy.
It is you who have little (or no) maturity, and little (or no) respect for women or God’s people who go to church to hear the word of God.

  11. This has got to set black people back about 200 years. Next he’ll be ‘preaching’ on his experiences on the farm.

    Comment by Canadanorth | January 26, 2009

  12. This is more like blue stand up comedy rather than church. ‘Defiled women’ is not too strong of a term here. I would say many of the men would be embarassed.

  13. Absolutely right Canadanorth, Thanks for your support here.

    Comment by Sylvia | January 27, 2009

  14. CanadaNorth, please do not diminish this filth to a racial issue (post #13). There is neither Jew nor Greek in the Body of Christ. What Thomas Weeks is doing is causing the name of our Holy God to be blasphemed among the people…far more devastating than the progress of a people group.

Comment by sonya (pookie) | January 27, 2009

  15. Sonya: Instead of diminishing, I am looking at the larger picture. There are such things as black churches and they have been the target of the greedy prosperity preachers who take advange of these people. They are a marketing target. I’ve heard more than one Well Educated Black Preacher talk down and earthy to his congregation. Is there something here that we do not understand?

    Comment by Canadanorth | January 27, 2009

  16. Thank you for your explanation Canadanorth and I do think that there is something that we are not understanding…that in the true Body of Christ there is no separation.

    Comment by Sonya | January 27, 2009

  17. Daniel,

I agree that the statistics you have quoted are shocking and disgusting.

However, the question as to why the secular society we all live in does better on marriage, divorce and sexual sin than the church is because of one thing. The majority of church goers now believe that nothing they do can take them to hell. Therefore Christians excuse their own sin and think that God will never punish us.

But God has no favourites. The reason for our ongoing failure to battle sin is simple. We have exchanged a God of Righteousness for a God of Love.

It is there in the scripture. The fear of the Lord keeps us from sinning.

Isn’t it interesting … it seems the people ‘out there’ have a residual fear of God, whereas the majority in the church treat God like an indulgent Grand-Father that will never punish us, and only wants to give us ’sweets’.

This attitude can be summed up in that well worn phrase “once saved always saved”.

But no one reading this blog is “once saved” yet. We are on the Way. We are being saved. In scripture the greater emphasis is on the persistent, present walk with God and not on a salvation experience. Sanctification is a difficult path to follow … one a too frequently fall off … but it is necessary because “without Holiness, no one will see the Lord.”

Because of the cross and the resurrection, as well as my faith in Jesus, I have been reckoned as righteous. But that is not the end of the process. It’s only the beginning.

Paul’s life is the example. Only at the end of his life could he write “I have fought the fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”

It’s about staying Faithful to Jesus, and He will keep you.

Christians habitually sin because they believe that they can never lose the kingdom, but many at the end will say “Lord, Lord!” and Jesus will reply “I never knew you.”

Non-believers will not have the audacity to say they were part of the kingdom. Only ‘Christians’ will.

Jesus isn’t warning sinners. He is warning saints. He is warning us.

Sylvia is right about ‘Weeks’. The subject of how men cope with modern life is valid. However, Weeks doesn’t provide any real answers here. He is simply appalling.

Mark Driscoll has been severely criticised for covering the same subject matter. I have seen some of his online stuff. He actually provides good clear teaching about area.

His ‘hyper’ calvinism could be a problem, along with a strict adherence to traditional gender roles (apparently) but I haven’t heard him swear or use inappropriate language from a pulpit. If he is the primary preacher/teacher in his church he really needs to broaden the preaching team. Plurality of leadership is much more of a strength than a weakness.

It means that there is much more accountability within the leadership structure.

  18. Why marvel at this, look at what this nation has become, what else do we expect. Fornacation, sexal immorality, adultery is a thing in the past these days. Pornography is the number one seller, they ask for a bailout all just to keep people happy, blinding people from; for one God and from just the daily stress of life. Sad that many people fall for this sickness.
I don’t know if anyone knows this but people who idolize the superbowl will have a advertisement on commiting adultry and saying it’s ok. Ashley Madison is the new thing. Their modo is… “Life is to short, have an affair”. They talk on how to keep it a secret so your spouse doesn’t know your cheating. BUT!!! the thing is; it will NEVER be a secret God sees ALL!!!!! There is nothing you can hide from Him, nothing.
Yet people continue to sing God bless America. Does anyone honestly thing God is going to bless America? I sure don’t think so. I pray that people wake up and see what this nation has become and get right with God.

    God Bless

  19. Daniel

    I’ll have at it.

The “Church” is in the mess it is in because it Teaches a DUAL doctrine. One of purity and one of Lust. So people are confused.

Why does the world SEEM to have a better grasp on things (according to statistics) ??

Because they teach their message without compromise.

When the “church” decided to get “gutter” especially the Black Church….

I have watched “white” church preach these things and there is a ton more class. However the “Black” church, and i am Black BTW so no racial imposition here, teaches this with such gutter, fleshly and earthly conjecture. So it is a set back from past teachings Maybe not farm hand setback, but setback nevertheless.

They don’t preach the WORD of GOD on the subject, they preach THE WORD of FLESH on the subject. And The Bible makes it plain….

    John 6:63 (KJV)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

I can go deeper if you wish, but this surface information should be enough to get you started.

  20. “This has got to set black people back about 200 years. Next he’ll be ‘preaching’ on his experiences on the farm”

I agree with Sonya. There are only two races on earth (no matter your hue)believer or unbeliver. Your response just trivialises the whole matter. Now let’s go back to the matter at hand. It should be made illegal for anyone to stand in front of people, particularly women and utter such shameless words. You can bet next time this disgusting man will take it a notch higher.

    Comment by OvercomerInChrist | January 27, 2009

  21. Thank you husband of a Prophet for your word. I knew there was something deeper here that I was not understanding. My skin is white but my roots are black.

    Comment by Canadanorth | January 27, 2009

  22. I may be naive in your eyes Daniel, and I am GLAD that I am.
I commented with strong feeling about a disgusting man, whom I found offensive and I am GLAD that such filth offends me. If I am astonished and outraged about anything, it is your defence of him.
Your outburst regarding the state of the church may be justified but your arrogance toward me is certainly not.
There is no excuse for ‘Bishop’ (thats a joke) weeks’ behaviour and you know it. If you truly think it is acceptable then I stand by my observation that you also have a polluted mindset.
I have no wish to turn this into a ’slanging match’ but I have every right to air my disgust.
I ask you again, “would Jesus speak such language in the name of ministry” NO. He was and is pure and holy. He is my example and I am GLAD.

  23. This is very very sad that this man are degrading woman and he call hiself a pracher :( .

    Comment by Meg | January 28, 2009

  24. I guess my take remains that among the ones that are truly the Church (no quotes) there is no separation. To say Black church or White church maintains division. When I look at the fruit of this man and his ex-wife or Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland, they do not represent the church, not the true one-though perhaps they do to the world and to the lost sheep that are deceived. And as far as one group doing it with more class than the other- class implies elegance of style or manner, and perhaps your observation is right on the surface but if you decide to go deeper and you really don’t have to got that deep to know that it’s all perverse before our God. Everyone who calls themselves Christian is not a true followers of Christ. How tragic it will be for the one, White or Black, classy or trashy, to stand before our Judge and King saying, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And He answer them, “I never knew you.” I’m sure that it is all of our prayer that they repent.

  25. Daniel & Sylvia, you may be interested in this link concerning some very real problems with those “statistics” and how they may not be truly reflective of the state of sexuality within the Christian community:

    http://chizadek.wordpress.com/2006/08/01/doubting-christian-statistics/

    And

    http://www.ctlibrary.com/le/2005/spring/15.50.html

All it takes is googling “statistics on christians and sex” and you get hundreds of studies, statistics and couter-statistics. Honestly, with people’s propensity to fudge details to pollsters and considering the often broad line of questioning, reliability of the statistics can’t always be assured… ESPECIALLY when people talk about sex!

    Comment by Emi | January 29, 2009

  26. Interesting links Emi, Thanks. I have always wondered about this, also ‘opinion polls’. They can NEVER be accurate because not everyone is asked. I, nor the many people I know have ever been asked about anything for such surveys.
It is still sad though, that the world see christians as no different, and they are right.

    Comment by Sylvia | January 29, 2009

  27. endtimes, I find it extremely unfair to compare Driscoll with this Weeks. One seems a man of good using common language, the other is just a lustful pimp. I’ve watched 4 or 5 videos of Driscoll and I like the man, find what he says useful and biblically correct or defendable. For Weeks, every single video is a shame for the church. One is clearly trying to enlighten the Bible, maybe with some harsh/reality language, the other is always talking about money and pleasure. One man I instantly liked, the other I wondered how christians could listen to him.

    Comment by smabe | January 29, 2009
