Christian prophecy for the church and for the nations from a servant of God called to speak God's word

Rick Joyner Announces Todd Bentley Remarriage and the Start of Restoration Process, While Begging for Cash for Fresh Fire USA

A newly released article by Rick Joyner from MorningStar, dated 9th March 2009 has appeared – note the date, two days after the news broke on this website and others of Todd remarrying his mistress Jessa who Todd had been carrying on with in an adulterous affair even before the Lakeland Outpouring started.

I have said it before, but will say it again. How can anyone be restored to ministry when -

  • Their ministry was never legitimate in the first place as they were false, so they cannot by default be “restored” as the word restoration indictates an original legitimate ministry and legitimate Christian walk to return to and be restored to - but Todd was not a legitimate servant in a legitimate walk, and far less a servant of God in the first place. A false prophet can only be ‘restored’ to a false prophet, and a false teacher to a false teacher, and a simoniser to a simoniser.
  • The affair with Jessa Hasbrook and the resultant divorce etc was but an ongoing pattern of terrible fruit and attrocious behaviour in Todd’s life and ministry. The affair is not ALL there was at issue by any means. Even if Todd Bentley still had a perfect marriage to his one and only wife and his marriage bed was kept pure and holy, he would still not be a legitimate servant of God for all the many other reasons.
  • Todd Bentley [and his associates] has never repented for all the lies, their heresies, their false prophecies, their blasphemies or altered their behaviour in keeping with this repentence. They commit simony without even blushing
  • The people assigning themselves to this task of restoration are as much sons of hell as Todd Bentley is.
  • Todd is a consistent, persistant liar, and continues in these lies unrepentant. So do his associates.
  • Todd has not confessed or repented of any of his terrible behaviour and continues to make excuses.
  • etc etc

Anyway, I note the timing of these statements well, and the reason for it is more than evident! “Even so, they are married now” are the key words in this article.

“Todd Bentley Begins Restoration Process
By Rick Joyner from here

“Todd Bentley was used to spark the Lakeland Outpouring, which raised the faith level of much of the body of Christ. Testimonies of healings and miracles from it are now virtually all over the world.

{Endtimespropheticwords note – The brags and boasts and claims about the healing and miracles may be ’all over the world’. Rick Joyner conveniently ignores the fact though that Lakeland was brought down because these claims were shown to be blatantly false - they were lies.

Rather than raising the faith of the body of Christ, Lakeland actually destoyed faith – by leading into delusion, deception, lawlessness and sedition.]

“When Todd’s marriage failed, he abruptly stopped all ministry and virtually disappeared for almost nine months.

{Actually it was less than seven months.

Note the spin on the marriage failing, as if this is something that Todd Bentley was not really responsible for, and he was but a mere victim of circumstances being blown around. Todd’s marriage failed, Rick Joyner spins it, rather than “he cheated on his wife and family while cheating the public of their cash – and Todd also lied to the public that all was well with his wife and family with an elaborate charade with all the accompanying spiritual manifestations [which again indictates the manifestations lying nature in testifying to lies]. And his mistress even appeared on stage at Lakeland by his side!”

Anyway, note that Rick Joyner and his NARzie associates would have us believe Lakeland ended abruptly because Todd’s marriage failed. Wrong! Lakeland was brought down because of all the lies. The Wendy Alec false prophecy Jesus was to appear live on stage, and the ABC Nightline report indicating there were no documented healings were the two major hammer blows that brought the Lakeland tent crashing down.

And this was weeks before news of the adultery broke which I have always said was a leaked smokescreen by the NAR to try and rewrite revival history and salvage their reputations when Todd was already publicly disgraced as a liar and cheat.

It is amazing how many have bought into the NARzie lie though who only now remember Todd as a “weak adulterer” rather than as the liar and drunken braggard he was who also happened to screw around.

Also, it was not even the affair that stopped Todd ministering abruptly – even after others knew of his adultery. Rick Joyner allowed Todd Bentley to minister on 08.08.08 at Heritage, when by Joyner’s own admission he had prior knowledge of the affair – but he still let the much-hyped show go on. Some others also knew of the affair before then and still allowed Todd to minister.]

“In the meantime, his divorce was finalized and he has recently remarried.

{Again Rick implies Todd Bentley was but blown around by the wind, with no choice. The language is very telling.  Look – Todd chose to divorce Shonnah Bentley, and chose to remarry his American mistress Jessa Hasbrook. He chose not to repent or alter his behaviour over many months.]

“Todd has taken full responsibility for the failure of his marriage. He and Jessa also admit that their relationship was premature and should not have happened the way it did.

{I have written on this before. Rick deceitfully implies Todd and Jessa are making themselves accountable, taking responsibility and are sorry and repentant for what they did so we should forgive them and get on with it and let Todd back into ministry. Wrong.

Read their excuses – “should not have happened the way it did” says a lot, for it should not have happened at all. They are still not sorry for committing adultery. They are still not sorry for lying and deceiving. They are still not sorry for being unrepentant. Todd has still not returned the Lakeland gold to those hands he tricked it from. Todd only faffs with saying the affair was “premature” which is not being responsible and accountable and is not being repentant. See this post here for their deception on this score. http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/12/05/todd-bentley-says-his-adultery-was-too-soon-and-more-gems/

And he also has not taken full responsibility for his marriage failure – read what is actually said and look past the deceptive spin.

If Todd and Jessa were so sorry they would have not wed, and Todd would be back in Canada with his true wife!]

“Both are adamant that it was not the cause for the failure of his first marriage,

{Well they would be adamanent about that, wouldn’t they? But why would we believe this when there have been so many lies already?

Do they think we will really believe this hogwash? Being with his new mistress Jessa was hardly incentive for working things out with Shonnah, was it? And Todd was with Jessa from even before Lakeland, which leaves a myraid of lies to explain away still, that were said on stage to the world about his marriage.

And anyway, what real differance does it make, even if Jessa is not the cause of his first marriage failure?

Todd was still legally married when the affair commenced and was still playing happy familes to the world. Adultery is still adultery, lies are still lies - and adultery is still wrong, even if the new relationship really is not the ’cause for the first marriage failure’.

Furthermore, apart from all the lies and charades playing Happy Families at Lakeland, it also raises serious questions about what sort of spirit Todd and Shonnah Bentley were soaking and manifesting in to heal their marriage, when it failed and was allegedly so bad for many years? So bad Todd ‘had to’ screw around more than once …. ]

“… nor did they begin their relationship until Todd was convinced that his marriage was over.

{Oh please! That’s what all cheating married men say! Or the other one – ‘my wife does not understand me’. Furthermore, being convinced one’s relationship is over is NOT an excuse for adultery. And it says little of Todd Bentley’s faith in God to heal anything, does it?

Note all the continued excuses regardless – does this sound like confession of sin, and penitent repentence from Joyner or Bentley?! Of brokenness and humility? Hardly.

Rick Joyner for Todd and Jessa is excusing this every which way he can. True repentance does not include excuses and justifications for the sin. Nobody is sorry here. That is more than evident.

And surely the thing about this is – if Todd Bentley did not really do wrong, why is he being restored by even NAR standards? Or going through the charade of appearing to go through restoration? If there is no sin, what is he being restored of – in truth? NOTHING!

How can men who do not take his sin seriously but excuse it restore anything?]

“They have both expressed that it was wrong and premature. They do not want to try and cover this up even though they know many will never accept them for it.

{Yet they continue to make excuses, so what is that if not a cover-up?

And I have not heard ANY public statements or expressions from either Jessa or Todd direct. It is all coming second hand through Rick Joyner.]

“ Even so, they are married now and are resolved to make the most of their marriage, their lives, and to continue to serve the Lord in the best way that they can.

{Oh please – this is a mockery. To continue to serve the Lord? When was Todd ever serving the LORD Jesus Christ in the first place? Who does the man of lawlessness serve but not himself and his father, the father of lies? And ’serving in the best way they can’? Serving God entails obeying God – it involves acknowledging and confessing sin! This is total utter deceptive hogwash from Joyner and Bentley!

But you know, this statement ‘even so, they are married now’ is what it all boils down to – which I ‘predicted’ – I said Joyner et al will say, ah Todd and his mistress are married now, too late for Todd to go back to Shonnah which would break a second marriage, so Todd and Jessa are to make the most of this second marriage and we are to forgive them and they can be restored – they could even feign a kind of repentance but they will claim it is too late to produce any real fruit in keeping with repentance, a break in the adulterous relationship and a return to Shonnah. [But in truth it is not too late]

Bill Johnson and Rick Joyner promised back in August and September to have a statement for us in a matter of weeks from Todd Bentley. It never came. Instead lots of lying excuses and fobbing off about them being out of the country and not being able to word it yet etc.

This remarriage was what deceitful Rick Joyner was waiting for before the long promised statement was issued and their brand of restoration began - for he knew Todd had no intent to return to Shonnah. For if Joyner had issued the statement of restoration before the remarriage happened, then going back to Shonnah would have been looked to as a sign of penitence. Now they will claim it is not possible, so we should let the happy new couple get on with it – who are sorry, honest, and serving God. Yeah right.

This deceitful conniving bunch are even worse than I gave them credit for.]

“My position all along has been that I will do my best to comply with Galatians 6:1, “If a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted” (NKJV).

[Note the bragging about Joyner considering himself as being among the spiritual]

“To obey this Word, I have always felt that it did not matter what one had done, and that it was my responsibility to help them find the grace of God to return to the place from which they had fallen.

{Return to hell? Smell sulphur anyone? See http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/a-vision-re-todd-bentley-in-the-dragons-mouth-then-being-tossed-aside/]

“I confess that with Todd, I am not just doing this as a duty. From the time I first met him nearly ten years ago, I knew that he had an extraordinary purpose and a gift of faith for the miraculous that would be desperately needed in these times. I consider helping any of God’s children an honor, and helping Todd is a privilege.

I also confess to some selfish ambition in wanting to do this. I had a dream two decades ago in which one of my children had fallen into a sewage ditch and could not get up. My child was being scorned and no one would help him. A man came along who helped my child get up and then cleaned up. In that dream, I felt as if I would give everything that I owned to this man who helped my child. Then I heard the voice of the Lord say, “Jim Bakker is My child. Will you help him?” Since that time, I have been devoted to helping any of God’s children that I could who have committed any trespass, because I knew there were few other things that would bring the Father’s favor. I consider this willingness to at least try to help others this way a major reason for the extraordinary favor that our ministry, my family, and I have received. I love Todd and am glad to help him, but I also know by doing this, I will be doing something that means a great deal to our Father.

When we release someone to minister in the body of Christ, we are releasing him or her to minister to God’s own children, and I personally do not do that with anyone who I would not allow to minister to my own family. For all that was done through Todd, and especially at Lakeland, which touched and helped countless thousands, many were also left confused and hurt by the way it ended.

{Note the rewriting of history]

“I think Todd is even more sensitive to this than I am. Although in some ways he greatly misses being in ministry and praying for people, he wants to be sure that when he comes back that his life and his ministry are on the most solid ground possible so that he does not cause these kinds of problems again.

{These kind of problems? Sin is now ‘problems caused’ to others, and not sin committed from one’s own darkened heart? This is still not repentance.

Does he mean adultery by ‘problems’? Yet Todd was restored before for adultery on the quiet some years ago, and Bill Johnson was involved then – what good did it do then? That restoration process was nine months by the way. So if they are on track with previous whitewashing, Todd will be back around May - ta-da!

This is still not repentance but ungodly whitewashing.]

“Jack Deere and Bill Johnson have agreed to be a part of Todd’s restoration process.

{Shame on them!]

“I asked them to be a part because I know they will probably see things I don’t, but also because both Todd and I trust them and know they would not sign off on something they did not really believe in. However, both of them are going to be involved in this at a distance, and therefore, I will be the main person responsible.

Being a believer in body ministry, I expect our whole leadership team, and to some degree, our whole local church, to be involved in helping Todd and Jessa. Our staff and all from the church that I have discussed this with are very happy about them being here and want to help them in any way that they can.

In future Bulletins, we will go into more detail about what we’re doing and why, as well as what we think was a cause of some of the failures Todd experienced. We will only do this for the sake of helping others avoid the same traps. We know that trust has to be earned and that Todd will have to earn the trust of the body of Christ for future ministry,

[Todd is not part of the body of Christ, nor is Rick Joyner. They are both lying wolves - predators preying on the body of Christ. Big differance.]

“… which will not be easy, nor should it be. Todd, more than most, does not want to jump back into ministry prematurely, even as much as he misses it in some ways.

{Which is why Todd has recently posted teaching articles on Facebook and MySpace  and continues to make merchandise of God’s people by actively promoting his books and CDs etc, and why there is a soliciting of donations for his ministry at the end of this email? How dumb does Rick Joyner think people really are?]

“I for one have been very encouraged by the expressions of grace and genuine concern so many have expressed toward Todd in this situation. It gives me great hope. As we have been constantly reminded, the Lord had great patience with sinners, but He had none for the self-righteous. We’re all here because He had mercy on us, and we know we still need it.

{But what must come first before forgiveness, let alone restoration?! That’s right, acknowledgement of sin, confession, repentance, putting to rights.

Note how Joyner is also turning this on Todd’s crtitics. Those who whitewash and ignore scripture and promote lawlessness have “grace and genuine concern” whereas those who call it as it really is and say Todd is an unrepentant liar are deemed “self righteous”! And by extension, ungenuine and unconcerned, unmerciful and ungraceful and impatient when this could not be any further from the truth.

What a deceitful and ungodly man Rick Joyner is. May the Lord deal with him swiftly.]

“However, we also know that true repentance and restoration can only come …

{Where is the true repentance here? I still have not seen it?]

“… if we refuse to compromise the clear biblical standards for morality and integrity.

[Oh please. Since when has Joyner been a defender of the Bible, the book his current life mission seems to be to contradict as blatantly as possible in word and practice.]

Todd wanted to personally say the following:

“It has been a long while since I have spoken publicly and openly. I am sorry for the hurt and confusion that my decisions have caused the body of Christ.
{Note the wording. He is not sorry for his sin, nor is he acknowledging them. This is real PR spin, not a broken man before God sorry for what he has done.]
“It has been a true season of brokenness, hiddenness, and a long process of grieving.

{While gallavanting around with his mistress? A true season of brokeness that led to finalising a quickie divorce and a resultant remarriage as quickly as he possibly could?]

“ As many of you now know, my previous marriage has endured years of unresolved conflicts. I apologize that it has ended in divorce,

{Note again, no confession of sin still. Excuses still.]

“… and I take full responsibility for my part for the ending of the marriage. I realize that my silence and decisions have caused many of you to feel hurt, confused, and offended.

{This is still not acknowledgement of sin or repentance!]

“The reason for the silence was for my need of healing, creating a restoration process under a team of qualified leaders, much needed rest after the Lakeland Outpouring, repentance, and the divorce process.

{Rubbish. We have already gone into the reasons for the long silence. How can healing possibly come without confession of sin, even acknowledgement of it?

And note the use of healing in the past tense. Yet this healing involved marrying his mistress and not returning to his wife!

And what makes Joyner and Johnson ‘qualified’?! Certainly not the bible.]

“I have now relocated to Fort Mill, South Carolina and have entered into my restoration and healing process under Rick Joyner, Jack Deere, and Bill Johnson. I am confident of this one thing—that God is faithful to His promise and my hope is to be fully restored, strengthened, healed, and to learn from all the mistakes I have made along the way.

Thank you friends and partners for your continued prayers, encouragement, and love. I am committed to the work of the Holy Spirit and confident that the good men around me will help me be restored first as a man, as a husband,

[But crucially not as husband to Shonnah - what gall! What about as a father to his children?!]

“… and ultimately to fulfill God’s call on my life.” [end of alleged Todd Bentley statement]

{So repent then and be saved!]

“Those of you who were touched by the Lakeland Outpouring do not lose your encouragement. What happened there was from God, and Todd is a true servant of God. He has made some mistakes, and he is trying to get his life back in order, and you can be confident that he will. Throughout the Bible, many of the greatest heroes in it also made some of the worst mistakes. King David, possibly the greatest hero in the Bible after Jesus, made one of the most horrible mistakes, not only committing adultery, but murdering the husband of the woman he committed it with.

{But David  was repentant. And he also was not a false prophet and liar, and He knew and worshipped GOD.]

“God knew that was going to happen with David when He called him, and He loved David before, during, and afterward.

[Love does not excuse though or overlook and whitewash sin. The Bible is perfectly clear to standards expected for all Christians, and especially Christian leaders. It also clearly shows the qualifications for leadership Bentley has NEVER met, and also the true biblical restoration process that for all this chatter Joyner is not doing.]

“One of the remarkable events in the Bible is that the Lord then used Bathsheba to bring forth the heir to the throne, Solomon, and she is part of the genealogy of Jesus. It still stretches me, but we need stretching in the grace of God. At the same time, we must balance it with how God hates divorce, and it is one of the scourges of our times that is tragically hurting many, many people. Marriage is under such an assault now because it is so important. However, legalism will not overcome lawlessness. This situation and similar ones that almost every church and family are now being faced with is one that we need answers for. We cannot run from Him, but must run to Him with our need.

Many of Todd’s friends and former partners have asked if and how they might help to rebuild and establish Fresh Fire USA, which has recently relocated from Abbotsford, BC Canada and is now based at Heritage International Ministries in Fort Mill, SC. Donations can now be made to Fresh Fire USA at the following address:

Fresh Fire USA
C/O MorningStar  Fellowship Church
375 Star Light Dr.
Fort Mill, SC 29715

Make checks out to Fresh Fire USA, or if you would like to donate by credit card to help in rebuilding Fresh Fire USA, call 1-800-542-0278, and tell the operator that you want to make a donation to Fresh Fire USA.”

{Don’t forget the money, honey – what this is all about for some. What’s Rick Joyner’s cut?

On the one hand, he is saying Todd is going through a restoration process not to be rushed, next he begs for money for Fresh Fire – this totally stinks]

  1. Such an awesome write up Miriam!!!

Wow. The lies and the lies and the lies and the lies.
They just keep on lying. What a CULT!!!

Makes me wish for some Old Testament action in this.
I pray God raises up many to defeat and destroy Todd Bentley
and Rick Joyner, the others, and Morningstar ministry.
    In Jesus Name!

The Bible IS the Word of God, and IS to be OBEYED!

  2. Rick Joyner’s stand on Todd Bentley is carnal, immoral and devilish. Joyner needs to repent. He is manipulating Bible history to justify Todd Bentley and Jessa Hasbrook’s sin.

Jesus Christ is our FINAL AUTHORITY on marriage and fidelity, not King David.

Matthew 19:9: ‘I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.’

Christians are to be imitators of Christ. We are NOT to be imitators of King David. If Joyner and Todd Bentley and Jessa Hasbrook persist in pushing the King David excuse, then let them be warned what God said to King David:

    1 Samuel 12: 9-12
9 Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’

11 “This is what the LORD says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight. 12 You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’ ”

1 Samuel 12: 14 ‘But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, [a] the son born to you will die.’

As the Lord has done to King David, so let it be with Todd Bentley who has chosen to put aside his marriage with his wife and commit adultery with Jessa Hasbrook.

As for Joyner, he has shown himself to be a hireling. In validating Todd Bentley and Jessa Hasbrook’s adultery, he now stands in utter contempt of Christ and the sanctity of marriage.

  3. Just sickening…This is precisely why God is raising up uncompromising believers, full of boldness and the power of Holy Spirit, to expose such hypocrisy. Just reading things like this makes my righteous blood boil…

  6. His remarriage is not accepted by God. He is living in adultery!

Check out what God has to say about divorce and remarriage.

“A husband must not divorce his wife.”
    1 Corinthians 7:11

    because;

“The Lord was witness to the covenant made at your marriage.” Malachi 2:14

    which binds a man to his wife for life;

“A wife is married to her husband as long as he lives.”
    1 Corinthians 7:39

    and because;

“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery.”
    Luke 16:18

    Therefore, if a man divorces his wife and marries another he becomes an adulterer;

    “Thou shall not commit adultery.”
    Exodus 20:14

“The man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys his own soul.”
    Proverbs 6:32

“Adulterers…will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
    1 Corinthians 6:9

    A divorce does not free a man from his wife because;

“A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives.”
    1 Corinthians 7:39

Man invented no fault divorce. Divorce does not dissolve a marriage covenant. Jesus calls remarriage adultery. No legitimate marriage is ever called adultery.

What God Has Joined Together, Let No Man Separate!
This Is A Command From Jesus Christ
Adultery is identified in every passage where the remarriage of divorced persons is mentioned.

Divorce and remarriage is so readily accepted today that we have lost sight of God’s view almost completely. The teaching of the Word of God on this issue must be vigorously presented so that young people will not divorce and enter into adulterous remarriages.

Many people today are trying to justify divorce and remarriage, when the Bible says that marriage is binding “as long as both shall live,” and that two persons joined in marriage are “one flesh.”

It is our conviction that Christians must work hard at trying to reconcile divorced partners. We must make them understand that all relationships after a divorce are viewed as adultery by God and must be ended.

    ________________________________________
Now is the time for the church to speak up on what the Bible has to say about divorce and remarriage before another generation is deceived.

The Bible clearly says that whenever remarriage occurs, adultery results, and that is pretty clear to every Bible reader.

In Romans 7:2 we are clearly told why the remarriage of divorced persons is adultery. It is adultery because the first marriage is still binding. “A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives.” Since she is bound to him as long as he lives, all other relationships are adultery. This is easy to understand.

People talk in our day about “ending” marriages.
But that is impossible to do, you can’t do it.
It is not divorce, but death, that ends marriages. The only thing that divorce does is, make a new relationship adultery and while remarriage is legal in the eyes of the government, it is illegal to God. As long as a former mate is living, the original marriage union is secure in God’s eyes–and that is the State of Marriage.

When one of the married partners separates from the other and joins himself to someone else, that does not free him from the state of marriage that he is in with his first wife, but instead, it enters him into a state of adultery. The truth about divorce and remarriage is clear. The adulterous relationship resulting from a second marriage is sinful and needs to end.

Mark 10:5-9 indicates that marriage is a divine institution which was ordained by God from the beginning, and it is not particularly a Christian institution. Mark 10:6-9 says, “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they two shall be one flesh…what therefore God hath joined together, let not men put asunder.” Jesus says that marriage is binding in all cases, and it was that way from the beginning, not just since the beginning of the Christian era.

The marriage vows are binding upon all, whether Christian or not.
Proverbs 28:13 makes it clear that God wants all of us to turn from sinful living. John the Baptist lost his head defending this principle. Mark 6:17-18 tells how John the Baptist had said that it was not lawful for Herod to have his brother’s wife after a divorce. Herodias, was legally divorced by Roman law, and newly married to Herod Antipas, but John still said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” after they were remarried.

Brothers and Sisters, don’t go shopping around for someone to justify what Jesus Christ clearly and repeatedly condemned. God has not changed His law to allow a man who has stolen another man’s wife to keep her. Nor has He changed His law to allow a woman who has seduced a husband away from his wife and children to keep someone else’s husband. Nor will He join two people in a God condemned wedding ceremony.

Marriage is binding on all–whether Christian or non-Christian. It is important to notice that neither the Gospel of Mark, nor the Gospel of John recognized Herod’s second marriage as valid. In Mark 6:17 it describes the woman as “his brother Philip’s wife,” after a divorce. He called her Phillip’s wife after she was divorced. That is whose wife she was, even though Herod had married her. The divorce did not end the marriage. She did not become Herod’s wife upon remarriage. Herod was living with her in adultery; she was still Philip’s wife. God does not recognize the second marriage because the first marriage is binding until death. That is an eternal principle settled in the eternal counsels of God.

Marriage is not just a Christian institution; it is a broad general institution, and therefore it is binding whether you were married when you were 18 by a judge, or united in marriage at age 25 in a typical church wedding ceremony. From God’s point of view, all marriages are binding, and can be broken only by death. Divorce does not dissolve the “bond” of marriage. If it did, there would be no adultery in a remarriage. The Bible condemns remarriage after a divorce.

Every faithful disciple of Christ needs to speak God’s truth about marriage and show people, according to Scripture, that they are bound to their first spouse as long as they live.

Oh how we must help them see the truth and keep them out of adultery,

    because…
Adulterers do not inherit the Kingdom of God.

  8. I have never been so horrified as to witness the statement on ‘Ahab’s websight.

Rick Joyner has no shame, Todd bentley has no shame, and they continue to try and pull the ‘wool over our eyes’ with sentiment, with we know all, are all, and have all and are proud to display our fallen one (so that you don’t notice that we are fallen).

How can you display such ignorance and arrogance.

    They render me almost speechless.

Todd Bentley is a arrogant sham, and to give him what wealth the people have by asking for donations is just so out of, (you pay for his mistake in terms of money not us) order that Jesus is left yet again without a home.

Are they deliberatley dragging a Lord most high through the shenannigans of a egotistical attention seeker thinking they can get away with it,surely not. WE ARE NOT BLIND, THEY ARE.

I watched Todd Bentley punch a man with cancer in the stomach and then say the Lord told him to.

THEN WHICH LORD DO YOU CALL AND FOLLOW TODD

for my lord had no wealth, walked humbly, gave himself over to a Father who’s love he knew would render him nothing so that the right Fathers Authority would be with him (and not someone pretending to be a right father Mr Joyner!)

So Please give us some acknowledgement for having a brain and being able to use itblind youmay be but not us.

Another quote: ” One of the remarkable events in the Bible is that the Lord then used Bathsheba to bring forth the heir to the throne, Solomon, and she is part of the genealogy of Jesus.”

Joyner is lying again. Solomon was in the genealogy of Joseph (Matt. 1), but Joseph was not the natural father of Jesus. Solomon ended badly because he married many women who served idols, Solomon did that too.

Mary was from the tribe of David too but not from Solomon but from Nathan (not a son of Bathseba) (Luke 3).

The marriage to jessa must be broken, or they burn in Hell.
    The Bible says so.

If anyone knows jessa’s parents, contact them and tell them the whole truth. Todd is a convicted pedophile. Todd is a compulsive liar. Todd is violent and abusive. Todd will physically abuse jessa. (and abuse her in every other way)

  20. Ahh, that lovely chesnut “legalism” thrown out to us by Rick Joyner to stop people from attacking the “Lord’s anointed”. When will someone tell Rick that legalism is following the letter of the law as an end in itself and to make oneself look good to an onlooking crowd, whereas true obedience means that the bar of standards is raised way beyond what “legalism” can ever produce because true obedience stems from a love of the person of Jesus and that means solid and constant change BECAUSE OF DAILY, GENUINE REPENTENCE. Todd’s life would be completely different from what it is now if he embarked a course of true repentence. He would have his marriage intact, his children free of the stain of divorce in thier lives, a church that hasn’t been badly rocked by another scandal, etc, etc, etc. Oh, and a God who’s happy with him because “to obey is better than sacrifice”.

Rick Joyner is no prophet neither does he have any conception of what it means to be a follower of Christ in this context.

  26. Some months back, when the issues with adultery & marriage were exposed, it was evident that these issues would be the (manipulated) focus of attention so that Todd’s “fall from grace” would “be seen to be addressed” by dealing with those matters. His handlers– those who “commissioned him” – made sure that the primary issues that effected the Body of Christ – the lies, the deception, the false prophecies, the false signs, the false teaching, the false impartation & the consequent spread of deception & delusion that was Lakeland – were all pushed out of sight. The adultery & the divorce & remarriage are now the focus of attention, hiding the negative spiritual impact that Lakeland has had on the Body of Christ & conveniently minimizing the damage on those who commissioned Todd Bentley. Yes, he needs to be dealt with in love, but there must be genuine repentance, the evident fruit of that repentance AND the error, the falsehoods & the deception MUST be addressed also.

God will not be mocked. I would not like to be in the shoes of those who have fabricated this situation for their own means & to cover their own reputations.

    Jeremiah 29:21–23

    Comment by Eph.4:11 | March 11, 2009

  28. Very interesting that you mention “Ahab”, Eph.4:11

Ahab was the most wicked King in Israel.

Ahab allowed Jezebel, the false prophetess who pimped for all the false prophets of Baal, to commit her perversion and idolatry against Ahab’s own God.

Ahab married her for perverse reasons of his own. Ahab allowed her to commit murder of Naboth on his behalf. Ahab was the one who should have been controlling and condemning his wife’s evil practices, but he ALLOWED THEM.

Joyner is an Ahab along with the rest of the NAR, one who passive aggressively allows adultery, murder of faith and Baal worship to take place.

The Lord warns us not to “tolerate” Jezebel or her teachings for a reason.

The whole NAR is listening the familiar demonic spirits of Jezebel — who in the New Testament — will be the Whore of Babylon.

Babylon by the way means “mixture” or “confusion” — exactly what Ahab tried to do — mix God with Baal.

    Comment by CooperChrist | March 11, 2009

  29. Joyner is Anti Christ to try to compare Todd Bentley to King David..

Where were the “Nathans” at Lakeland to see the sin on Bentley and call him out?

This is the main purpose of a prophet, to see the sin on people and reconcile them to a Holy God.

When Nathan saw the sin on David, (which did NOT even happen at Lakeland!) what did David do?

He repented. He fasted. He prayed for the life of his unborn son by Bathsheba. He was judged by a Holy God.

Where is the morality of the Lakeland liars? They have none.

Joyner’s fake “authority” over biblical terms would be laughable except so many people believe him and will lose their very salvation for doing so.

“… Since the announcement of Todd’s leaving his wife, Revival Alliance has been working to help restore our fallen brother. Sin is disastrous on any level, but it is well known that “to whom much is given, much is required.” Gross sin from someone on Todd’s level of influence is devastating. Even so, God is ready to heal and restore.

Todd recently spent three days in Redding, California, with Bill Johnson dealing with the issues of his personal life. Following that, he went to Morningstar Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina, to be with Rick Joyner for the same reason. Rick, along with the Morningstar leadership team, has offered to help in his restoration….”

So “Todd recently spent time with Bill Johnson dealing with the issues of his personal life.” Yet he remained with his mistress and ended up marrying her – what exactly did he deal with?

  33. I watched the video from Rick Joyner. His terminology lacks a lot to be desired. His use of scriptural stories to justify what has happened and how God works lacks a whole lot. I did hear Todd Bently apologize for the hurt he caused and I personally accepted his apology. I do not trust him and rightfully so.

Being a woman who was left by her husband for another woman, I did not want him back. I told him that he and his girlfriend deserved each other. Perhaps, even though she was hurt, she forgave him, but due to his inability to be trusted, she refused the restoration of their marriage. According the scripture, she has that right. Some of the opinions of what the scriptures say above do not match up with what I have learned and am learning about the Grace of God, so I just bypassed them after I saw where they were going.

Do we need Todd Bentley in a ministry? Ledhead, I am not so sure. God would need to do a tremendous work, but I do believe He can. Nothing is impossible with God. Do I need to send money? No. It is not good soil to sew into right now. It may be in the future. On either front, don’t allow emotion to overpower what God has put in us. I am praying for Todd Bentley. I wish he had waited on his remarriage, but he didn’t. So, it is all in God’s hands now no matter what I think of Rick Joyner.

Self-righteousness: Trying to earn God’s favor and forgiveness based on your own merits. The statement Mr. Joyner does not qualify no matter what the dictionary says.

God never would sacrifice his children to bring about the downfall and exposure of one wayward son…so Mr. Joyner your sightfullness of Lakeland is very flawed. Many people lost their faith because of this sinner pretending to be saved. Satan was in charge there, not God.

Well, that is all I have to say. God bless you all.

Tammy – Did you consider the possibility that God gives some people what they deserve as they don’t really want Him or the truth? They just want their lusts and Todd Bentley was not and is not any different!

    Comment by Brad | March 13, 2009

  35. Yes, King David was forgiven for what he did by our God. But King David lost his first son with Bathsheba and his own son tried to kill him and take his Kingdom. So there were consequences for King David’s sin.

Our God is one of mercy, love and forgiveness. We must all forgive Todd for what he did but I think restoration is premature. He has not truly repented and yes, I think speaking about purity while openly carrying on an extramarital affair is hypocritical and unfit for a Christian leader.

His charactor is not what it should be to lead a ministry. Judge not lest ye be judged. God’s judgement will be just. I leave it in his hands but will not be donating to his ministry either.

    Comment by Mimi | March 13, 2009

  36. Todd will never repent because he is a reprobate who has knowingly chosen to do things purposely contrary to God’s word including being a liar, a thief, an adulterer, a drunk and a wizard!

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 10:28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 10:29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 10:30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.” 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

    Comment by Brad | March 13, 2009

  37. Brad, I consider all things. But the thing I consider the most is that most people do not go into these things deciding to turn from God, but that they are hungry and babies and easily deceived. It is the shepherds role and responsibility to try to protect the flock, which very few stepped up to do. I still stand by what I believe, God would not sacrifice some many in the flock just to expose Todd Bentley. However, I do believe that God will be doing His greatest show of love in these times to those who have lost their faith by showing forth His grace in great measure.

PS 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD.

JER 17:5 Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD.

Tammy what you believe doesn’t matter because according to you God wasn’t in charge in the first place in Lakeland to allow the false revival to come forth to expose the false leaders and to teach people a real lesson and truth not to put their trust in any man or movement.

There are quite a few testimonies coming out from people who got involved with Todd or Lakeland who are now sorry that they did and are vowing never again to trust in false prophets such as all the idiots who were at the coronation of Todd Bentley and said and did stupid things that now we see have no positive outcome at all! They were just liars and deceivers- all of them!

  39. Well it seems that through this some have come to the right senses of God and His righteousness, Praise God. I have ran into a few, however, who have a harder time letting go of being so, in their words, stupid. This is where Grace comes in.

To be honest Brad, what any of us think does not matter. God is God. Therefore, no matter how hard you sound in your writings, I believe that Jesus is your Lord and if you are hardened, He will soften your heart.

    Comment by Tammy | March 13, 2009

  40. Tammy all your self righteous words don’t change the fact that Todd Bentley is a son of hell, a son of disobedience, a reprobate who will not repent and the leadership in NAR or Revival Alliance are not different than Todd!

  41. Well, well…
It’s just a matter of time now and The Tattooed One will be back on stage favoring us all with his adventures (and misadventures) in the heavenly realms. I wonder just how long it will be before he collapses back in on himself, again. (I’ve got March ‘10 in the pool.)

Rick Joyner may not be a prophet but he’s a shrewd businessman. He knows what a cash cow that Bentley is and he decided long ago that he wasn’t going to let go of his piece in this action. But I think RJ is taking an exceptionally big risk this time. When the bungling Bentley falls again, all eyes will turn to Sir Rick Joyner and the deception and double-speak will start all over. So don’t take off your hip-boots.

  43. Tammy, I appreciate your attempts to be “loving” but remember our God is not a sentimentalist. He does not want us wearing rose-colored glasses, and indeed He does not, He cannot for Jesus Christ is the TRUTH.

Tell me Tammy, by what standard would you judge someone for being a reprobate or apostate or false prophet?

Jesus Himself warns us against false prophets and wolves in the flock.

Do you want to be discerning or would you choose to overlook the Lakeland fiasco as just a little bit of sin and error?

Don’t forget, it is those inside the Church that we are told to judge as Christians.

And you are quite wrong, Tammy, to assume that what you or I think does not matter.

On the contrary, the angels and demons and heavenly hosts are all watching us to see us model our faith. Do your research in the Word. Our testimony, i.e., what we think — is extremely important. Our fear or lack of faith is the point of entry for the Enemy. Our overcoming comes from what we think about our salvation. What we think is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

What we think is what we believe — and what we believe is what we take action on. What we think about Jesus is the substance of our very salvation, Tammy.

(I’m underscoring this for you because many NAR teachers tell you to “turn off your minds and open your spirit” which is not Christianity. You understand the importance of the Bereans, right?)

    Comment by CooperChrist | March 13, 2009

  44. What a travesty that Rick Joyner should quote Gal 6:1 as the process which they’ve been using to “restore” Todd. As soon as sin was evident in any form, that’s when his “spiritual” elders should have stepped in and restored him, especially to his wife. His marriage was not beyond salvage, no matter what he says. If he had wholeheartedly and tranparently tried to fix that issue, then I would be the first to say that we’ve seen real restoration. We should not be pandering to Todd’s desire to have everyone accept his new marriage!! Restoration was supposed to come way before a new, adulterous marriage.

Todd, you’re a long way from Christ, no matter what crocodile tears you shed. Repent, repent, repent and show it by your actions, not your words.

    Comment by atco1962 | March 13, 2009

I am praying for Todd as well as all those who have been hurt by the Lakeland experience. I decided to seek God after watching it once on line and got a very strong stay away from it and warned that Todd’s sin which was a like a festering ulcer would rise up and be exposed and I needed to be on the side of Grace, not in the middle of it. I was to only pray for him and be ready with God’s grace when the fallout came concerning the hurting. Brad, that is what I am doing. What are you doing?

    Comment by Tammy | March 13, 2009

  46. What we do think does matter, they would be competely in control otherwise and we would lose sight of the message that Jesus wants to gift us all.

A loving father would not display his sons idolatry, his sons wayward meanderings, his sons apparent need of attention, his sons lack of discretions or his sons greed, he would take the spirit that gifted them. That can only be done through the power of the Father and it is evident to me that they have no such thing and so are taking the power in a different way ie, calling the profits to support them, thats power over the circumstances, power over the media, etc) to try and convince us all.

Discretion is not on display here EGO is.

The power to redeem is not on diplay here PRIDE is

The power of healing is not on display here VIDEO healing is.

To heal in human terms from idolatry takes a desire and determination to do so, I see only a desire to carry on regardless of what the truth may or may not be.

And a loving father walks alongside’if you are willing’ untill you are nothing and he is something. These two are really something!

Mr Joyner playing at being father and displaying it, saying this is the love I am, this is what we do, is the kind of love that falls short of the real thing yet keeps a lie in place.

    God is who they are

Jesus had no huge building, no grand displays, no pharisee
redemptions, no grand designs or homes, he knew who the church was and stormed into the temple in anger at its missuse, The father allowed him to witness the ‘goings on of man and his ways and called him home, meaning, his heart when the frief became too much to bare.

Lest we forget in this quagmire of delusion the real message lets remember that to err is human but to agrandise that err and then assume its delusion and expect the rest of us to pay for it with donations is the forward march of an enemy who’s judgement has got lost as well as his discernment

Now its time for them to step down and understand their seemming desire for leadership before their arrogance brings the human race to a pile of its own rubble.

We all need to heal from something. We need others to allow that healing the time and space it requires. Nations who have been at war for the most part of their existance need to go back into’their own backyard’ to find solutions not bombs and bullets.

The west needs to understand the poverty that rules in the East and not be so ’show offy’ with its abilities but help each other to reach potential. LOVE UNCONDITIONAL DOES NOT EXIST.

We must begin the process to its centre before we don’t exist.

  50. This is appalling, what about his ex wife shonnah, and those precious children? They are abandaned and forsaken. She has fought cancer and when she needs him the most bentley committs adultry. If he really was repentant he would have gone back with this wife and children. He is not a Godly christian example and it is grevious that leaders are supporting bentley. I agree with most of the posts in here, He never was in true ministry to begin with so he can’t be restored. I pray for his wife and children, they are the ones who need the support right now. Bentley needs to be in prison for extortion. For out of a True Christian Leaders lips, should preserve the truth and knowledge and true instruction, but they have turned from the faith and from their teaching they have caused many to stumble. Malachi 2 Mal 2:7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
Mal 2:8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
I pray that Bentley will be found out and that he won’t get a chance to hurt more people and lie to them.

“LOVE UNCONDITIONAL DOES NOT EXIST.” (by wisdom)
Correct. The word “unconditional” is not in the Bible.
Nor is it a theme, topic, or doctrine.
Conditional Love is. If you repent, If you believe, If
you confess, If you turn from your wicked ways.
    “IF”, conditional.
    2 Chr 7:14, John 3:16, 1 John 1:9, Mathew 10:32,33
    Romans 10:9,10.

God is Love. He loves all His creation. That is who He is.
But we cannot take that Love and twist it to say Oh! Now I can sin all i want (like todd bentley) or Oh! If God loves me He would never put me in Hell. or Oh! If God Loves me…
    And on and on.
    Doesn’t work.
    God made salvation conditional.
    God made His blessings conditional.
    God made Eternal Life conditional.
    Out of His Love.
Did the disobedient angels get kicked out for not obeying?
    God’s commandments?
    Uh Huh.
    1 John 5:3
“for this is the Love of God, that we keep His commandments”
So if we do not obey, 2 Thes 1:8. Ouch!
1 John 4:8-10 Glory to Jesus!

  54. This is in response to “Rose” (#6) above:

Rose is basically saying that all remarriage is adultery no matter who the ‘guilty’ party was in the previous marriage leading up to the divorce. I believe this is partially correct; but, it is important to discern just who is responsible for the sin of adultery in a remarriage.

    Going first to Matthew 19:9:

    9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.” {NIV}

The NIV renders the Greek word “porneia” as ‘marital unfaithfulness’ which is better than the KJV’s simple ‘fornication.’ Porneia is an all-encompassing word for a host of sexual sins including fornication, adultery, homosexuality and others. See here:

    http://www.studylight.org/isb/view.cgi?number=4202

The word rendered ‘adultery’ in the NIV is very specific from the Greek “moixatai” which is defined simply as adultery here:

    http://www.studylight.org/isb/view.cgi?number=3429

Now, please note that Jesus is stating specifically that the man (woman) who divorces his spouse and remarries commits adultery. Jesus says nothing of the person who is the ‘innocent party’ – the one who did not initiate the divorce/the one who wasn’t unfaithful.

    Now moving to Matthew 5:31-32:

    31″It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery. {NIV}

The words ‘marital unfaithfulness’ and ‘adultery’ come from the same Greek words as the Matthew 19 passage above. Note the words “causes her.” This means the man (or the woman if she initiated the divorce or committed porneia thereby causing the divorce) causes the one who he (or she) divorces to commit adultery. The subsequent sin of adultery caused by the ‘innocent’ divorcee’s remarriage is on the head of the one who initiated/caused the divorce.

Now, let’s move to Deuteronomy 24:1-4:

    1 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the LORD. Do not bring sin upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance. {NIV}

So, with this it is obvious that we are not to remarry our first spouse once that ex-spouse has been subsequently remarried and divorced – even if the other second spouse dies. So, then the argument that God only honors and regards the first marriage as valid does not hold up here. I’ve actually heard some pastors/preachers infer that a man/woman in a second marriage should divorce this second spouse to be able to remarry the first one. Uh-uh. Not according to this scripture. Obviously, in the case cited above, the first marriage is no longer valid in God’s eyes and is not a ‘tell death do us part’ situation as Rose would have us believe. In fact, this infers that God recognizes this second marriage (verse 2) as defined by the circumstances above.

Yes, ideally, Jesus said there should be one marriage and no subsequent divorce (except in the case of porneia). But, does the ‘innocent’ party have to wait until their ex-spouse dies in order to remarry? Or, according to the Deuteronomy verses above, does the ‘innocent’ party have to wait until the ex-spouse marries another (or commits adultery by having sex with anyone else whether remarried to her or not) thereby making the initial union no longer a ‘till death do us part?’

There are no easy answers for this issue; but, I have to ask where grace comes in. According to the hard-nosed legalists who condemn to hell all who remarry, the sin of remarriage is unpardonable. Murder is apparently forgivable; whereas, remarriage is not. Is it perhaps better if we were to kill our ex-spouses then thereby freeing us divorcees to remarry?

I think of the Royal family on this subject. The monarch is the head of the Church of England which in the time of Edward VII, it was fine for him to carry on with a mistress or two as long as he did not divorce his wife. Where is this in the Bible?
Edward the VIII got stoned and had to abdicate for marrying a divorced woman, his niece was threatened with a cut off if she married a divorced man but it’s fine for the present monarch’s kids to break all the moral laws and not get cut off. When I think of all those hundreds of mornings having to sing “God save our gracious Queen” ect. and then reciting the Lord’s prayer in second place. Unbelievable!!!

There are more than just a few Scriptures on this issue.
LOL. When very young, I heard people debating the divorce
issue. “no divorce except for fornication”.
Dumb me, I asked the adults, ” So does that mean if you want a divorce all you have to do is fornicate with someone else?” Wow, did that stop conversation. I was sent to my room. LOL. It shows the point though. You have to read and understand a huge amount of the Bible to have decent knowledge on divorce/re-marriage. Anything less can draw any kind of conclusion.

Todd Bentley marrying a mistress is permanent adultry.(sin)

  59. Rose, I sincerely hope that any husband of yours does not divorce you through no fault of your own. Do you really think God would condemn you to the rest of your life alone?

There ARE circumstances to remarry. Of course I am not including deliberate adultery (as in Todd Bentley, and the likes). But there ARE situations that do not qualify for such a hard nosed approach as you are portraying.

BTW I am NOT divorced but blissfully married for 42 years, (just in case it sounds like I am trying to justify my own actions). Reasons for divorces are varied, and God is not nasty but LOVE.
Maybe you have dealt with people, but so have I and it is just not that cut and dried.
An injured wife, or husband, has great grief and lack of self esteem to be rebuilt, without the prospect that they can never love, or be loved again unto marraige.

  60. Read the following scriptures: 1. Dt. 24:1-4 The intention was to make people think twice before divorcing. 2. Mal. 2:14-15 Now note in vs. 15 “guard your heart”. and in Mal. 2:16 “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. 3. Mt. 5:31-32 Divorce is destructive and hurtful. 4. Mt. 5:32 We are always to look for reasons to “restore” the marriage relationship rather than for excuses to leave it. 5. Mt. 19:3-12 Please not vs. 8 is quite specific. vs. 9 is specific too. 6. Mark 10:5-9 and Luke 16:18 These are more words of Jesus about divorce. 7. Gen. 2:24 Lifetime commitment.

Bottom line marriage is a joining together, the two become one. Now, I have a question. Why does Mr. Joyner not bring any of these scriptures into this restoration process? Yes, in Galatians 6:1-5 it speaks of restoration of a fallen brother. But there is a caution there too. Check it out in vs. 1, “And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.”

As a christian, we are given specific instructions on the subject of divorce. We are told that God hates divorce. Moses wrote laws that explained reasons for divorce. Not divorce and remarriage, because of adultery, but just the opposite.

Now, I ask each of you to study what I just put into words for you. It’s quite clear that as christian’s we can’t agree with what is going on at MorningStar at present. We must continue to love our fallen brothers, but be careful. Keep useing the sword of the Lord, which is His word, in hopes our fallen brothers will repent and not lead other astray.

  61. Why does Todd presume to “teach” on anything, let alone angelic manifestations, on his latest “restoration” video, dated 27/4/09? It boggles the mind and heart that he would presumptuously hold forth on critical areas of theology and keep on telling us, his enthralled audience, that he hears from God and is in a position to lead us into righteousness. What a farce!

Rick, stop sitting on the sidelines uttering trivialities; you need Todd to get to a point where he can honestly say, “I have sinned before God and man. I renounce the sin of adultery, a sin I am currently engaging in. I will annul my sham marriage, which was entered into in a spirit of lust and self-centredness, and I will do everything possible to restore my relationship and marriage with my true wife and family, if they’ll have me back. On top of that, I vow never again to speak or act on behalf of God or His angels unless I know that it utterly conforms to Scripture and the true Spirit of Christ, who never disagrees with His holy word. I am a sinner who has crossed too many evil lines and I vow before God and His people that I will do everything I can to rebuild trust.”

If he says and does that, Rick, I will welcome a brother into the fold. Until then, shut him down and never give him a platform to vomit his poison.

  62. Has anyone else been following the Todd “restoration” videos? It’s a kind of slow torture, I know, but I’m persisting, trying to see if something of substance and real repentence will arise out of this fiasco. Almost always, Mr Joyner prefaces his comments by saying something like “we’re not going to cover things up…” and then goes on to cover things up, giving no details that could possibly stain the great Todd’s character. He won’t address the main issue of Todd’s continued adultery. Instead, the same meaningless drivel keeps coming from both of them.

I’m afraid the writing is on the wall…. Todd is going to come back because “restoration” has already been predetermined.

    And the church weeps.

    Comment by atco1962 | June 4, 2009

  63. Agreed, atco! I have no idea what audience they think they are staging this “restoration” for. It’s unnecessary for the gullible. All Todd has to do is have a few visions and divine some sicknesses which he proclaims are healed, and he’s back in business.

They’re not fooling the rest of us. One look at that smirk and body language tells even nonChristians that he hasn’t changed. And any Christian with even a smidgen of discernment gets the willies watching his eyes.

True humility and repentance does not look or act anything like Todd (or Rick for that matter).

  64. So the beat goes on at Ye Ole Morningstar Ministries as Sir RJ continues to market Charismania’s version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, affectionately known to us as “The Bamster II”. (the POTUS has since assumed the title of “First Bamster”, but Todd, you’re still #1 in our hearts)

    But anyway,
as he scoops up and dishes out that pile of human refuse, Joyner is still trying to convince us that it’s actually delicious chocolate pudding. And he chose to use the right medium to do so, seeing as how the physical stench of it all doesn’t translate through those videos which would be a dead give-away. Then again for Bentley’s True Believers…maybe not.

Thanks for pointing this out atco1962. Your suggested words of repentence for Todd Bentley are beautifully written, but as far as hearing them from his own ring-pierced lips, well…all I can say is FFC!

It almost seems as if Joyner is TRYING to get his name added to the long list of Communists, Nazis, Liberals and psyche-ward inhabitants which have had the phrase “Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth” attributed to themselves.

Sorry Rick, but this time I’m afraid we can’t let that happen.

  66. At the risk of repeating myself and restating what many have said before, Todd must be restored, regardless, because all of the “mighty” apostles and prophets who aligned themselves with Todd and “prophesied” over him at his “commissioning”, supposedly by the power of the Holy Spirit, have to see him fulfil what they predicted. They know, as we all know, that if Todd isn’t restored, their discernment, prophesy, etc will be seen to be what it is i.e. stuff born of the flesh, stimulated by an over-zealous desire to see anything supernatural from God, so far are they from Him. To all my brothers and sisters in Christ, have nothing to do with these frauds. Do everything in your power to hold Todd to the Christian principles he’s supposed to be restored to. It’s love for Christ that compels us to do this, not a rush to judgement! If Todd were to repent, do a complete 180 turn from what he’s been doing up til now, we’d know that he’s seen the Father. Then the process of restoration could begin. But it hasn’t happened yet. Sigh!

  68. Hi Sarah,

You’re right. I was thinking restoration in the sense that a fallen brother needs to be restored to Christ and a valid faith. It does seem that many moons ago, he did have some kind of real and genuine faith. In no way do I think that he should be restored to any kind of public “ministry” such as he’s had up to this point.

    In Him,

  70. Rick and Todd can gloss this over all they want, but Todd is neither called by God nor is his present “marriage” valid in the sight of God—–it is adultery. His real wife, the wife of the covenant (Mal 2), is Shoannah–whether he wants to admit it, whether Shoannah wants him back, etc. In GOD’S eyes they are STILL one flesh and jessa is committing adultery with another woman’s husband—-according to God’s Word (Mt. 5:32, 19:9-10, Mk. 10:2-12, Lk. 16:16-18, Rom. 7:2-3, I cor. 7:39). Remember Herod/Herodias? They were deceitful in the coupling too. They divorced their spouses then married each other. What did John say that caused him to lose his head??? YOU HAVE YOUR BROTHER’S WIFE!!!! Notice He did not say, “you were wrong to take your brother’s wife and marry her, now get on your knees and say, “sorry”. No, He accused him of HAVING his brother’s wife……………she STILL belonged to Philip—even though a divorce took place, even though new vows were exchanged—–GOD DID NOT acknowledge this new union as being valid in HIS sight. Since we know it is GOD, not man, who creates the ONE FLESH in marriage, we can know for sure that God does not “join” that which He Himself has called SIN (having unlawful relations with someone who is NOT your spouse—aka: ADULTERY). True repentance would entail forsaking this PRESENT adultery Todd is in with Jessa, for she is NOT his wife in the eyes of the Lord………………..
