Matt Sorger on Todd Bentley Restoration – Another Shot Rings Out In The Civil War In The Church?

I am told that on April 22 2009, Matt Sorger posted the following onto his Facebook page -

“When are we going to stop promoting gifting over character… I have a feeling we are going to have to go around the mountain a few more times… using someones fallen state and restoration to raise offerings and sell product is just craziness. Sorry folks…

- PS. Since when did upholding truth, righteousness and accountability become legalism????? I am truly dumbfounded.”

  2. Can I just ask, I’ve been looking at this website a lot and you say that you care about preaching the word and so forth and yet you attack people like Patricia king e.t.c

    I’m just dumbfounded, have you ever hear them talk about you in such a away and i’m sure they know your website.

    I’m just so saddened because your under the assumption that you know everything and are a servant of God, did God explicitly instruct you to start this website and its content… if so when? I’m not being mean but I just feel someone has to stand up to you sooner or later.

    Have I heard the NAR talk about me in this way? No, as they are not biblically based, or base things on any facts in the public arena.

    They just lay in with slanderous accusations ONLY because I dare to criticise them. They lie blatantly in an attempt to discredit me, saying some terrible things, and show their blatant hypocrisy while doing it. They also contradict scripture to support their stances and demonise anyone who stands against them.

    Because she does not preach the word. Read the reasons why I say what I say.

    I never said this, nor do I think that. That is an ungodly and slanderous accusation.

    Yes he did, in Aug 07. When did God tell you that Patricia King was of Him?

    You can stand up to me. I will not demonise you for so doing. Nor will I call you a dog, pharisee, rebellious or unloving – or a satanist, witch or warlock – because you do so.

    But what are you actually standing on? Not the word of God which commands us to contend for the faith, and judge false prophecy and teaching, that’s for sure.

    You just don’t like me because I show the false prophets up that you idolise for what they actually are – deceivers, blasphemers, heretics, liars and hypocrits.

    So what are you going to do? Follow God and His word or follow Patricia and her lying words?

    What is the reason that you defend Patricia King and other people of the NAR? What did they ever do something personally for you. You see, it is even painful that monitoring sites like these need to exist at all. I mean, if Patricia King would preach sound biblical doctrine in which Jesus Messiah, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, would be the center of every aspect of life, then this or similar sites didn’t need to be critical at Miss King at all. On the contrary, it could just support her teachings. But unfortunately, Miss King, Todd Bentley, John Crowder and other NAR preachers, are putting the emphasis on other matters which are biblical seen, very discutable. I mean, talking with angels, heavenly portals, using the Holy Ghost as a sort of drugs and other mystical things are sounding very New Age to me, instead of biblical Christianity. And where does she ever tells the truth that following Jesus can be very hard in times, because of the inner conflict between your flesh and the holiness of God? I mean, a REAL apostle like Paul wrote about that in his letter. And he knew what it is to be a disciple of Christ, although he was a real Pharisee first. I’m glad that I bumped into this and similar sites because the Almighty God used this for my personal walk with Him. He showed me how stupid and even childish some of these NAR-theories are and I used to believe in a lot of those things. And believing in their statements made my walk with God very, very hard and heavy. But now I know, it doesn’t need to be very depressing to follow God. Every day I need His Grace but with this Grace, there is also a growing awareness that I NEED to fear Him. Why? Because He is El Shaddai, Adonai, El Elohim, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Master and Owner of the Universe. I don’t dare to walk with Him lightly. I mean, He is able to destroy my soul. I’m glad that He gave me a solution for my miserable life. And that solution is Jesus Christ. And to follow Him is sometimes very hard but it is better to do it and to die to myself, then living a comfortable Me, Myself and I life, in which there is no respect for the Lord at all.

  10. One of the first tenets of the third wave, neo-apostolicism, the NAR, is UNITY. In other words, don’t disagree, don’t criticise, don’t disrupt what God is doing – it’s a new thing don’tcha know?

    That is how they control people, along with ‘touch not God’s anointed’ (self-proclaimed of course) and ‘you must come under the covering’ (of the self-appointed ‘apostles’). So, if you don’t understand something, or there’s a stirring in your spirit that makes you uncomfortable with what they say, whatever you do, don’t check your Bible, because it may not be there – it’s a ‘rhema’ word (back to the ‘new thing’) from God’s ‘anointed’ apostles and prophets.

    And that is why they don’t call out people like Miriam or any other discernment ministry by name. If they agreed that Miriam was a Christian and part of (their) body of Christ, they they would be displaying DIS-unity, a big no-no. They would rather make snide comments about heresy hunters or better still call discernment witchcraft.

  17. Whether your NAR or not the promotion of Gifting over Character especially with what we are seeing from the Rick Joyner Spin Machine should make anyone sick.

    Kudos to Matt if he has let his voice been heard because too many will not say anything because they don’t want to offend there friends and associates.

    If more and more leaders even in this charismatic sub-culture spoke out then the likes of Rick Joyner and Bill Johnson etc would not have so much authority and trust over and from the church.

  18. here’s some truth from behind the scenes in Abbotsford. Jessa first of all was an intern in the fall 08 cycle. She never applied for it Todd invited her into the internship. Even after a board member severly opposed it. Later Todd invited her and another intern to live in his house during the internship, and after the internship as a live in nanny.

    At the same time the Bellingham, Washington church was being established so fresh fire could get a legal foot hold in America. This is evident by the lack and the sheer refusal to work with the local churches. It was just for the papers not the church.

    In January 2009 2 members of the board confronted Todd about Jessa, and that it was wrong and they couldn’t stand by him about it. They where “relieved” of their position for doing so. This shouldn’t be surprising as another member of FFM was faceed with the same threat, after he caught Todd with another woman in England (this is what the dark night of the soul was actually about), the FFM member was forced to either work for FFM outside of North America or be fired. Jessa is woman number 4 that Todd has cheated on Shonnah with.

    Todd isn’t 100% to blame just 80% the rest of the blame falls on those board members and pastors that refused to confront Todd on his infidelities. One in particular had the mind set that if Todd does it, it’s okay even if it isn’t for others. Others refused to confront because they didn’t want to loose their jobs (like many have over the years)

    Even in Lakeland which I personally think was a two edged work of God, it was a blessing to the locals who have prayed for God to move. And the other edge was a judgement on Todd, in total over the top Todd style. During the highet of revival there was excessive drinking, slasher flicks, and other things I wont get into now with Todd and his inner circle (yes men). There was infighting with the leaders on stage, and the interns where just slaves with ministry badges. Or the fact that all the money collected for the orphans and for sudan never made it to them, it was instead used to pay for the buildings/land for the revival.

    Even after Lakeland fell apart, and the news finally became public, Todd never returned home to Abbotsford. He remained in America (illegally) in California, then a breif stop in Reno for their quickey divorce rules. Then it was off to Rick Joyner and his marriage with Jessa

    These words are not made up, this is a summary of many conversations I have had with former FFM employees, board members and former interns. I just can’t stand by and see Todd get away with this for a fourth time. A man who has turned his back on his wife and children once again. yet will be received by the masses as THE man of God.
