Nigerian Withcraft: Pastor fights deceitful counterparts

Attacks fellow pastor and calls for a stop to the deceit

A Nigerian pastor has called on fellow pastors in Nigeria to stop deceiving people with the notion of witchcraft. Apostle John Okoriko, the founder and president of Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Nigeria has described the practice of pastors as shameful and manipulative. However such assumed witches and wizards are always the poor in society.

“It is embarrassing in 21st century where every nation is going scientific and to space that we are still talking about witchcraft. It is time we faced reality and not absurdity,” the pastor was quoted as saying.

The scotching attack was specifically aimed at renowned evangelist, church founder, film actor and movie producer, Mrs. Helen Ukpabio, who claims to be able to identify witches, deliver them from their evil power, or cast them to the abyss.

“This thing is dragging our state backward; people have been brainwashed to think negatively. If they suffer a slight misfortune in their businesses instead of looking for practical solution, the pastors will tell them that they are attacked by witches and the person will become a slave to the pastors. It is sad,” the pastor added.

Helen Ukpabio, the acclaimed witchcraft expert recently hosted
a crusade in Akwa-Ibom state of Nigeria where she allegedly identified 500 witches. According to reports The 500 people, mostly children, voluntarily went out to label themselves witches or wizard in the crusade themed: Coven on Naked Wire.

According to the fuming pastor, “If this state (Akwa-Ibom state) has been taken over by witchcraft, why can’t we use witchcraft to achieve good things; at least win international football matches? All we need to do is put eleven bewitched boys on the pitch and win the world cup.”

Eyewitness reports have claimed that the delivered witches and wizards were asked by Mrs. Ukpabio to attend the various branches of her church for eight months for them to be monitored and properly delivered.

Pastor Okoriko told reporters that Helen Ukpabio’s claim of delivering 500 witches and wizards was nothing but a charade since there were no such number of witches in Akwa-Ibom state. Such a claim is fraudulent and ungodly especially as they (the delivered witches and wizards) have been asked to attend the various branches of her church for eight months.

Pastor Helen Ukpabio has used the film industry to create a certain credibility for herself as an expert and force in the spiritual realm.

Despite the poverty, hardship and suffering that the political and economic instability in Nigeria creates amongst the poor, the acclaimed deliverer attributes it all to the making of witches and wizards. In her movies, there is always a a certain display of witchcraft powers which eventually gets subdued by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The charismatic pastor who lives in a 60 million Naira house in Calabar, southern Nigeria, has earned herself a huge crowd and followership across the country, as peope continue to seek deliverance from witches and wizards in their everyday lives.”

  1. Africa is so full of witchcraft and african people are being caught up in WoF/NAR at a very rapid pace. I’ve been told that there are villages in africa that were once muslim that have been totally converted to Christ. Yeah…but which Christ?

Rick Warren sure infultrated africa with a ‘purpose’.

Sigh. So this guy warning about pastors who delve into witchcraft is most probably caught up in the other movements (I hope not however). Anyhow its a never ending cycle I tell you. They move from one decption to another…

  3. Pastor Okoriko is deluded if he honestly believes there’s no witchcraft in Nigeria or in the world for that matter.

  4. I am ashamed to watch on tele the UK channel four documentary on CHILD WITCHES in Nigeria, because I am a twenty first century Nigerian in the Diaspora. Ashamed because those we thought should know failed in their duties as pastors to convey the truth to the people they claim to pastor.
On this tele show you find people like Pastor Helen Ukpabio stamping and endorsing such evil activities being perpetrated against innocent Nigerian just because they are poor and ignorant.
I think it is a direct sin against God to do evil against people by branding them as witches, don’t get me wrong, I do believe evil exist but I also believe that Christians like Jesus Christ have the power to free and deliver those in bondage. My message goes to all Nigerian Christians, we must work hard to put an end to this evil these so call Pastors are doing against defenseless individuals.
In the 1850s, it took a Scottish Missionary Mary Slessor to travel thousands of miles to the same region to stop the killing of innocent twins and in this day in time it is once again taking another British Charity worker (as we see in that documentary) to stop these bogus Pastors bewitching innocent children in the name of deliverance. Nigeria, when will we learn the truth? I leave you to answer but remember we will all give account of our works before the Lord that includes fake deliverance too. I very much appreciate the Apostle John Okoriko for speaking out against these pastors God Bless you!

  5. What a pity, Michael Angley Ogwuche let me not put reverend, because in the first place there is no such title in the bible, so i dont know where you got yours from. But really, your comment clearly shows your level of ignorance. People like you are the ones who go into slavery in foreign land forgeting that you have a home. We would have listen to you if you were saying it form here, but it is a big pity you are there and even at that completely ignorant of the happenings in your country. Shame on you. I believe you are serving on aged white skinned man, in a small hurt you will call church.
