Norway considers Scientology prosecution

Article from here

“Norway is considering prosecuting some Scientology practices. The Ministry of Health and Care Services says that the use of the “OCA” personality test in sales may constitute fraud as well as being part of a pattern of medical malpractice.

The statement came after three undercover journalists took the test. Scientology staff said they should buy a course to solve psychological issues. One was advised to avoid medical care; another was told she needed either a course or “chemicals”.

A Scientology spokesman blamed individual staff and disclaimed responsibility. The test is notorious since a Norwegian suicided the same evening she received negative results and was subjected to “hard sell” in a Scientology center in Nice, France.”

  1. Wikinews have published a longer English summary, including a more detailed response from Scientology: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Norwegian_government_considers_prosecuting_Scientology

  3. Whilst I may personally disagree, with others over their beliefs, I believe in their rights, to have them and practice them without fear of the jackboot of government.
I read today online, in a TV news story, that San Diego, is threatening to prosecute a pastor and his wife, for having bible study cell meetings in their home (15 people attend) weekly.
Apparently, neighbours don’t like it and complained.
I have seen secular persons, defending their right to have the studies in their home, because they say, that if the gov’t jackboot stomps these people, who will be next? those who meet for bbq at friends house? weekly poker get togethers? It seems many today, want liberty for themselves, and their pursuits, but if they don’t agree with, or like someone else’s, they feel they have the right to impose their will on others.
God created each of us with free choice. He created everyone as individuals. He didn’t stamp us out with his divine cookie cutter. His salvation and all his gifts, are freely given, and we are wooed, in hopes of us voluntarily choosing to accept. He doesn’t impose His will over ours.
This is the first premise of individual rights and liberty.
Freedom from sin and punishment for such, is proffered in hopes of mankind choosing LIFE instead of DEATH. This is the foundation of spiritual liberty – that God sets free from sin, and works in us as we cooperate with Him, to bring us into full liberty and sonship in Christ.

  4. I took the test five years prior to being saved – these people (Scientologists) are just as dangerous to one’s temporal and eternal state as any cult is. Thankyou so much Miriam for this site – God has used you to help snatch me and my family from a church that allowed me to think I was divisive, judgemental and deceived for speaking against Lakeland (amongst other falsehoods).

  5. ditto david green… kudos to Miriam
I have no problem with exposing by factual expression in words written or spoken, of error of any kind. I was saying that we’re not to lose sight though, of others’ freedom to be wrong and stay wrong if they so choose, despite best efforts to show them the truth.
Preach the gospel, witness, and love others as Christ does. Respect them too.
